M-Audio ProFire audio interfaice not seen by Windows/Boot Camp

It seems Windows XP SP2 under Boot Camp, running on a Mac Pro dual-quad Nahalem 2.66 has a problem with connecting to Firewire devices. It won't even boot up with Firewire 800 drives connected, and I understand from reading posts in other threads that this is a common problem.
The problem I'm looking to get resolved has to do with my M-Audio ProFire FW 400 interface. Windows will boot up in Boot Camp with the ProFire connected and powered on, and I have installed the latest driver from M-Audio. But when I launch the ProFire control panel, it reports that it cannot find a ProFire connected. I use the ProFire in the Mac OS side in Logic and ProTools, so the unit and connection are fine. I will also be contacting M-Audio to see if they know of this issue.
TIA for any help.

hey i don't know if this helps but i have M-audio Firewire Audiophile...it seems that when you boot windows, if m-audio is "ON" it searches for the pc Bios... but maybe it's not possible on a mac...
first time i rebooted bootcamp i noticed that i could see the levels volume on the m-audio control panel but i didn't hear any audio from speakers....
so what i did???
now every time i boot windows, m-audio first is OFF...then after completely booted, i turn it on...autosearching for its drivers, wait for 2 beeps from the speakers...then
AUDIO IS ALWAYS ON AFTER MANY HOURS... :-)TESTED [OK]
but i hope they solve this problem soon...

    Any ideas anyone?

Try removing the CD/DVD Filters from the Registry.
When CD/DVD related software is installed (such as iTunes, Nero, virtual CD software), they install filters into the registry, which can cause compatibility problems.
    1) Run Regedit (Start -> Run -> Regedit)
    2) Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    3) In the right pane, delete the "UpperFilters" key, and delete the "LowerFilters" key.
    4) Reboot.
If your CD/DVD programs stop working, you will need to reinstall them (preferably with an updated version).
This utility can remove the filters for you:

  • P6N Diamond X-Fi Xtreme, back audio jack not working after windows reinstall

    Hi everyone,
I've been having a problem with audio since reinstalling windows. Previously under windows xp sp3 i had no issues but after the most recent reinstall of windows xp, the rear jacks for the audio aren't working despite the front headphones jack working perfectly fine. Since this was only a short term measure, i didn't bother trying to sort it out until now, when I've now installed windows 7 on the computer and the issue still exists.
I'm using the latest driver available on the msi website http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=driver&maincat_no=1&prod_no=1168 and I have also tried using the audio driver patch available on the same page.
The fact that there were no problems before a recent windows reinstall and that the issue is mentioned on the driver download page makes me think the problem is with the drivers and not with the hardware.
I searched through the forums and while a fair few people seem to be having the same issue or similar issues with audio jacks not functioning properly, i couldn't find a relevant solution for me.
    Cheers,
    Dave

Yep that sounds exactly like my problem. The issue lies with the on board soundcard and their vista drivers. Creatives' vista drivers are notoriously bad. This coupled with the fact their drivers won't even INSTALL on a p6n board because their drivers do not detect the onboard soundcard adds to the problem. As far as I see it there are two ways to solve this issue:
1.) Buy a front audio panel addition to your case.
I am not sure on your setup but here is one with HD audio support: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813999356
And that will fix your back panel port, and give you the option to use the front as well.
    2.) Buy a new soundcard.
This is what I did after learning that the onboard x-fi isn't even a real x-fi card. I opted to buy the X-Fi gamer (cheapest of the X-Fi cards) and so far the drivers have been acceptable in vista. My non-hd front ports work, as well as my back port.
Another alternative would be to wait for MSI to release an update to the creative drivers that they provide. No guarantee on that though.

  • Ipod not seen by windows or itunes

Hello, I'm totally frustrated and have been searching for hours. Please someone help.
    - Nano 8 gb
    - Windows xp
Neither Windows (my computer) nor Itunes sees my ipod. Ipod is working fine: did the menu/select thing, cable is good.
When I plug the ipod in the usb port I hear a bleep and I get a message bottom right "new hardware found ipod"and the icon is a usb cable. Ipod is not in My computer window. Ipod is not seen by Itunes
Tried Device Manager/I see Ipod with a ? Yellow. If i right click on it and do update driver the ms computer management system crashes and sends error report.
I tried dowloading the USB driver and placing it in the directory, but I got stuck because there is no windows/inf directory. I tried to update the usb driver with the same ms crash.
I'm completely frustrated, please can someone help me.

I was having the same problem the other day. I'm not sure what it was but I think it has something to do with the i tunes and i pod 1.2 update.
    What I did was:
    1. Uninstall i tunes
    2. Restart my computer
    3. pluged my ipod in a slow usb line
    4. waited until my pc recognized it in there. It took a little while.
    5. re installed i tunes from apple.com
    6. waited until i tunes recognized my ipod
    7. updated my i pod with my library it took a long time because i was in the slow usb plug.
    8. re plugged my ipod into a 2.0 usb line
    9. i tunes recognized it.
    10. I then updated my ipod to the new 1.2 version
    11. The problem started happening again
12 I repeated what I did before and now it is working.
It was very frustrating! I hope it works for you.1

  • E3000 Media Server not seen by Windows Media Player (v 12.0) on Win 7

I've enabled the Media Server on my E3000 router.  My PS3 can see the server and play media from it by my PCs can't!
I'm using Windows Media Player v 12.0 on Windows 7 and some older version on Windows XP and it's my understanding that the Media Server should appear under the "Other Libraries" section but it does not.
Am I doing something wrong? Is there a bug in the E3000 firmware (I have the latest as of this date) or is the Media Server simply not compatible with Windows Media Player?
If it's an incompatibility issue, can someone please point me to a compatible media player for Windows 7?
I did read a post about a firmware upgrade on the 4200 that broke the media player, but I don't know if such a problem exists for the E3000.
    Thank you,
    Martin.

This is what you can try in getting the Computer to see the media server on the E3000:
(Obviously make sure you have the media server enabled on the router and at least one folder shared....and make sure you have scanned the folder(s))
    1) Turn your computer on.
    2) Disconnect your external usb drive.
    3) Pull the power on the E3000.
    4) Connect the external usb drive.
    5) Plug the power back into the E3000.
Then see if that works or not.
If the issue still persist then here is the link which may help you: http://h10010.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01832417&tmp_track_link=ot_recdoc/c00859236/en_...

  • Not seen in windows (or anywhere else!)

    I have a problem..
I was given an Ipod - I am assuming it is a mini, but I'm not 100% certain - All I know is it has a touch wheel, is marked with 4Gb on the back, and it has a monochrome screen.
There were NO cables, manuals, or CD's with it.
I went out and purchase a FireWire cable for it, and it is charging up fine with that.
However, I seem to be unable to do anything else with it!
It does not appear in windows or in ITunes. I have read through all the advice I could find but the Ipod doesn't even appear in places where I should be able to fix this problem (nope, not even in Administrator Tools under Control Panel!)
When connected to my PC, the normal Ipod menu comes on screen, but no other messages or icons (ie: do not disconnect, the sad smiley etc).
So any suggestions as to how I can make this work?
I AM able to reset the Ipod (flick hold switch on and off, hold menu and select for 6-10 seconds etc) and I DO see the apple logo when I do this.
    Please help!
    Giric,
    The normally tehno-savvy,
    clueless Ipod user.

Are you sure it is an Ipod?
The reason i ask is that there are cheap mp3 players knocking about that look like ipods but there are in fact made to look like them but are no good.

  • SSD Crucial M500 is not seen in Windows 8.1 setup but it is seen in Windows 7 setup

    Hello,
I have problem with new SSD Crucial M500 on new notebook HP 250 G3 (J0Y29EA).
Notebook has Windows 8.1 and latest BIOS.
I want to replace HDD with SSD.
So I created 4 DVDs with "HP Recovery Media Creation".
Then I format SSD in Disk Management on Windows 7 desktop.
Then I shutdown the notebook, replace HDD with SSD, disable Secure Boot in BIOS and boot from the first DVD. Some kind of Windows system came up and showed message that no disk was found.
I have Windows 8.1 DVD so I tried boot from it. Everything was ok but there was nothing to choose in disk/partition dialog (dialog where I want to install system). I tried to load some drivers from USB flash drive but with no success  (maybe wrong drivers). I tried this with Secure Boot disabled and enabled, Legacy mode disabled/enabled. No success. I also tried run console (shift+F10) and list disks in diskpart with message "There are no fixed disks to show". No success.
I tried old SSD Crucial M4 from desktop in notebook and system from this old SSD (Windows 7) boot up in seconds (Legacy mode enabled).
I let the old SSD in notebook and boot from Windows 8.1 DVD and it was shown in disk/partition dialog.
I put the new SSD back in notebook and tried to boot from Windows 7 DVD. New SSD was shown in disk/partition dialog. Installation was completed and Windows 7 boot from new SSD in seconds.
I let the new SSD in notebook boot from Windows 8.1 DVD and no disk was shown to choose.
I tried boot from bootable recovery CD based on Windows 7 and the new SSD was shown in somelike disk manager. I tried boot from ubuntu recovery USB flash drive and the SSD shown too.
I tried combinations with MBR and GPT on new SSD with no success.
It looks for me like Windows 8.1 doesn't like Crucial M500
So I test another Crucial M500 and same results.
    Maybe some UEFI problem.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks

I give up and return M500 (I had two drives).
I bought Intel SSD 530 180GB, cloned Windows 8.1 on desktop.
Set SSD windows partition as C: and HDD windows partition as E:.
Put SSD and HDD back to notebook.
Windows boot up from SSD in seconds.
    Result: SSD Crucial M500 + HP 250 G3 (J0Y29EA) + Windows 8.1 are not compatible.
I don't know which one to blame, but this combination is problematic.
Intel SSD 530 had some issues too, like windows freezing.
One can be solved with windows update fix it (diag) from http://support.microsoft.com/fixit.
Another one is waking up from sleep mode. It can be  partially solved in Power managment, but it's not elegant.
    So that's all for now.
    Have a nice year.

  • Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter not working under Vista (Boot Camp).

    Hi there,
I'm facing a very serious issue with MacBook Pro Unibody running MS Vista under Boot Camp: using the Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter to hook a projector is 95% impossible because the only resolution available is 640x480 or sometimes 800x600. No solution came from the adaptor firmware update, still same behavior: connecting the external projector/monitor toggles 640x480 resolution with no more choices available. Just 5% of attempts on selected projectors gave me access to the complete resolutions list.
This is having a serious impact on my job where I do need both Mac&Windows running natively and with external display capabilities, please I'm looking for some feedback from users facing the same problem or someone who had an official answer on this issue from Apple. Do avoid posting about using modded display drivers please: I know they exist but the adaptor should be working with original ones.
I can understand Apple does not support MS Vista issues but this seems to be a hardware/driver one.
I'd like to point out I'm using a clean Vista installation with Apple drivers (from the Leopard DVD) and I've run Vista (same version, same gfx drivers etc) under Boot Camp on my previous MPB (with integrated DVI output+adapter) on hundreds of different projectors with never a single problem.
    Any feedback is really appreciated.
    L.

I'm having the same problem. When I try to connect to the switch in our conference room (connecting both a flat panel display and/or a projector, both with much higher native resolutions), all I get is 640x480. This is a huge problem to using bootcamp, and I really need to get this to work. I was able to get a higher resolution 1280x800 on a separate, portable display, so I'm wondering if people have the problem with standalone projectors or only with projectors connected to some sort of switch, in my case an Extron MPX423A. I have also tried this in both Windows Vista (32-bit) and Windows 7 RC1 (32-bit), with the bootcamp drivers and the latest NVidia drivers, and the behavior is the same all around.
