M200 Bluescreen when undocking

Hi!
Lately I cannot safely undock my M200 from the Port replicator. Everytime I try, the result is a bluescreen "Multiple IRP Requests" and the system reboots. This has only been happening for the last two weeks.
I did reinstall the Toshiba Mobile Tools, just to make sure that support for docking is enabled, but this did not help. Is there anyone who faced the same problem and solved it? I want to avoid reinstalling the complete system if possible.
Yours,
Thies

Thank you very much for your help. In the meantime I think I was able to find the cause of the problem. When I uninstalled a software for experiment design, the failures stopped to happen. I was not aware, that a Java based software could have this effects. May be it was not the main application, but a software licence system they used, but I am not sure...

I have two T400's that BSOD when undocked from an Advanced Mini Dock. They also BSOD when the user changes display settings. They both use a secondary external monitor. We have tried Windows (XP SP3)Display settings, Hardware Profile settings, ThinkVantage Display/Presentation setting, but still get BSOD.
    Any help? Info? Suggestions?

We performed System Update and got the latest/greatest drivers but still no go. It bluescreens a second or two after physically undocking (or changing a display setting). The error message is roughly: blah, blah, disk space, blah, blah, BIOS, blah, blah, win32k.sys  Performing physical memory dump. Then it reboots.
We get the same error on both systems.
Note: They do NOT bluescreen if we disconnect the second monitor (just to make things more interesting).

    Hi Aryeh,
Thanks for the suggestion, but switching back to the original 2GB does not appear to make a difference.  I am however able to use a generic driver provided by windows after the following steps:
    1. Installed the lenovo driver and it bluescreened.
    2. After rebooting, installed the lenovo driver again, didn't bluescreen this time but in device manager it shows that the driver failed to load (error code 31).
    3.  Uninstall the lenovo driver.
    4.  Reboot and the generic windows driver gets installed.
To add a little more information, I was attempting to install the driver (7.26.902.2010) located at http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-76363.html
    Anyone else having this issue?

  • Vista loses IP config when undocking

I used to use ThinkVantage's Access Connections to manage my network connection profiles on my Thinkpad. I just recently uninstalled it because I decided to just rely on the Vista has natively.
Since our office requires static IP, I set that up at the LAN properties. Everything works fine when I start from a clean boot. It's when I undock and redock to the docking station that problem starts. I lose the static IP configuration. Instead Vista assigns:
IP: 169.254.77.37 (supposed to be 10.11.2.xxx)
Subnet: 255.255.0.0 (supposed to be 255.255.254.0)
    Gateway: blank
    DNS: correct
I now find myself having to do a reboot everytime I just need to undock and go to a 30 minute meeting when I used to be able to undock and redock without any problems whatsoever.
Why does Vista assign this random IP when it is hard configured?
How can I solve this problem?
    Thanks.

I have not been doing images or restores (although seriously considering it. thanks) because I could usually troubleshoot once I understand what's happening.
This time I really don't understand how a static IP assigned can get lost when undocking/redocking. It boggles me and I am lost. Too late for me to do a restore.
I have a temporary solution which is to set another IP address and when the problem appears I simply switch to the other one. It's a not a beautiful solution and I had to bribe our LAN admin to give me the extra IP but that's what I got now.
I am still searching for this annoying yet challenging problem. I hope it also challenges people in this forum.

Do you have a back up of a known good system?
If so restore from that. If not, you may be lucky enough to just uninstall and re-install the network driver software or swap the network adapter. Else, it would appear to be either live with what you have or

  • X61 Standby issue with XP when undocked

    Hi,
Just did a HDD upgrade on my most excellent X61 and after a clean install of XP, I now have an issue with the Standby functionality. Here's the symptoms:
    1. If I restart while X61 is docked, I get normal startup and standby mode works both when docked and after proper undocking procedure. Works as expected.
    2. If I restart undocked, the Standby option in the "Turn Off Computer..." menu is grayed out and sure enough, never goes into standby. I have of course tried to modify power options in the Control panel, but it never gives me the option to go into Standby mode when lid is closed.
I do have dual boot on my X61 with Debian Linux and that supports Standby, no issues.
So, after some background reading, seems there is a possibility that I missed a driver during installation and some HW is not letting the X61 enter standby when it is not docked.
Any ideas which driver this may be??? Though I'd ask before having to through and try to install ALL drivers again
thanks in advance for any input...
    Jeff

Just tried installing lots of stuff I probably don;t need with System Updater. Now I've got:
    - Still no standby when undocked
    - 2 instances of thinkvantage toolbox that does nothing but try to repair "installed fonts" and fails
    - ThinkPad Video Features (Intel GM965) keeps recurring in the updates. When I try, it says successfully installed, but ???
    Any ideas?
    thanks

  • Spotify closes when undocking laptop

For some reason, when I physically eject my laptop from its docking station (like, if I want to move my laptop from my desk to another location) Spotify closes itself. It doesn't seem to matter if I have my music playing or not, although I generally have it paused at that point the vast majority of the time. I can restart Spotify just fine afterwards. I am using Windows 7 Professional, and I have a Dell-brand laptop and docking station.
Has this happened to anyone else? If so, did you figure out a way to keep it from happening? It's not a huge deal by any means, but it is a little weird.

I haven't ever received an official response, and it still does it for me occasionally (not every single time, though) regardless of which Spotify version I have, since I generally update when prompted. Like others have said, it also defaults to some pretty old tracks when I reopen it... like, something that I had listened to the week prior, which can be a pain sometimes. One thing that seems to maybe help a little is if I do not pause my music when undocking my laptop. I work in a pretty casual office, though, and I listen to very calm (and quiet!) music, so this is definitely not a solution for everyone.

  • Bluescreen when trying a clean install from CD - X61

    Hey,
I got a question from a neighbour if I could help him reinstall his laptop. It's a X61.
He got it from his employer when they decided to buy a bunch of new laptops for the company. Therefore he has no backup discs, no system reset software or anything. It's just the laptop and the power supply. He used the laptop 'as is' for a while but now it needs cleaning. He asked the IT department on his job but they didnt save any discs or software for the laptops. There is a Restore and Resque partition on the HDD which is accessible via the Thinkvantage button at boot, but no software in that console is working.
So he went out and bought a Windows XP license to make a clean install on the PC but we are having difficulties to make it run...
I tried to format an USB stick to install Windows XP from. After boot I only get a blank screen with a flashing marker...
I tried an external DVD-drive since the PC doesnt have any and I get the installations program to run. It starts to load the files but after a short while I get a bluescreen...
I'm running out of options here, any suggestions?

    echX, welcome to the forum,
a solution that works for a lot of people is to set the SATA to compatability mode in BIOS; press F1 at boot > Config > SATA.  After XP has been installed you can install the necessary driver and switch it back to AHCI.

  • XFCE workaround: Laptop wallpaper not kept when undocked

So I've been running into the minor annoyance of XFCE always using the wallpaper from the monitor on the left screen after I unplug my secondary monitor. Not sure if anyone else runs into this. Just to clarify:
(pretend the pipe is the border between screens)
    While docked: Wallpaper A (VGA-1) | Wallpaper B (LVDS)
    Undocked: Wallpaper A (LVDS)
I would expect wallpaper B to persist on the laptop display regardless of whether the second monitor is hooked up or not.
Since I use a script to toggle my monitor off and on using a hotkey I made a few modifications to it so that you can specify the wallpaper setup while docked or undocked. You could also have completely different wallpapers while mobile if you don't want to be seen in public with your My Little Pony wallpaper.
(I still use a CRT as a second monitor, don't make fun of me)
    #!/bin/bash
#Absolute path seems to be required for some reason.
    location="/home/jason/.config/xfce4"
    function xfset {
cat $location/$1 | while read line; do

    xfconf-query -c xfce4-desktop -p $variable --create -s $setting

You could look at xfconf properties comparing both monitors with one montor connected to find out differences.
    i.e. xfconf-query -c xfce4-desktop -l
Setting a wallpaper in xfce through xfconf:
    xfconf-query -c xfce4-desktop -p /backdrop/screen0/monitor0/image-path --create -t string -s $wp
    xfconf-query -c xfce4-desktop -p /backdrop/screen0/monitor0/image-show --create -t bool -s true
    xfconf-query -c xfce4-desktop -p /backdrop/screen0/monitor0/image-style --create -t int -s 0
Where $wp is set to full path of image file.
When comparing the properties you might find monitor1 becomes monitor0 and that might explain the wallpaper switching.
You can find out the path to the current wallpaper using a query like:
    xfconf-query -c xfce4-desktop -p /backdrop/screen0/monitor0/image-path
May be some of the above will help you figure something out. I only mention it because it is disconcerting to me that you are killing stuff like xfconfd and xfdesktop to achieve the proper wallpapers.

  • How to keep Ipod in iTunes when undocked

I want to be able to see and manage my ipod music while it is undocked. I did this before, but for the life of me, can't figure out how to keep the iPod showing in iTunes when it's undocked. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
    Randy
    Dell   Windows XP

If it's not connected to the computer, you can't do anything with the iPod.
You can Enable disk use in iTunes prefs -> iPod and it will not dismount.
I want to be able to see and manage my ipod music while it is undocked.
That is what iTunes is for.
Make the changes in iTunes and then update the iPod.
Any changes you make on the iPod will not be reflected in iTunes.
When you have to Restore the iPod (you will), all changes will be lost.

  • Disable 2nd monitor when undocking?

I posted this before but nobody replied so maybe I need to simplify it.
When I hit the eject button on my ThinkPad dock it turns off everything on the dock (including USB) except for DVI, which then causes Windows 7 to set both monitors to Duplicate at 1024x768. I just want it to disable the DVI monitor and go back to laptop monitor instead.
Is there a way to do this? I don't know why it keeps the DVI monitor going when the dock is ejected. Thanks.

Can somebody familiar with the dock please reply to this?
Hint: use Win+P to view monitor configurations.
When I press the undock button, it switches to Duplicate and both monitors (one DVI) show 1024x768 (even though all USB connections disconnect).

  • Bluescreen when deploying AMD Windows 7

    Hi,
When capturing an image on an AMD system with Windows 7, I'm getting bluescreens after deployment.
For capturing an image I enter Audit Mode by CTRL-SHFT-F3. I tested it with all the Windows Updates and without even doing a single thing in Audit Mode (chose for generalize and system shutdown in sysprep right away). Capturing goes al fine, but on any AMD
system where I want to deploy it on I'm getting this blue screen which closes to fast to see what causes this. Strange enough deploying windows 8 AMD goes all fine. Also I've got a lot of drivers for AMD injected in the install and caputere image.
When entering safe mode, getting a bluescreen after amdkmafd.sys.
Does anyone have a solution for this problem?
    Kind Regards,
    Bas

    Hi Bas,
From the file name amdkmafd.sys, I think we can test to remove injected drivers from the image and do the deployment. Then let's install drivers for devices to see if anyone causes the issue.
Also update your firmware may also help on this situation. However update firmware may cause hardware issue you could confirm with device manufacturer first.
In addition, Setupapi.dev.log (%windir%\inf) will log information for hardware driver. You could also check this file to see if there is any  error during driver installation.
If you have any feedback on our support, please send to [email protected]

  • Outlook 2010 sticks on "Trying to Connect" when undock Laptops and VPN Connects Automatically

When our users undock their laptops the VPN kicks in automatically.  All of the other network services just continue seamlessly.  Outlook, however, sticks at "trying to connect".  This is often accompanied by a password prompt.
This is easily solved by closing Outlook and reopening it (no need to enter password).
It doesn't seem unreasonable that outlook should require a restart after being disconnected like this.  Just want to establish whether there is a way to have Outlook just re-connect without the need to close it and reopen it.  Or is the need to
    restart it unavoidable?
    Thanks.

This is really a question for the Outlook forum, but from what I have seen over the years, thats just the way it is with OUtlook and MAPI or Outlook Anywhere. When you change the network, Outlook struggles..
Having said that, MAPI over HTTP with Exchange 2013 SP1 is working to eliminate those issues:

I had the same problem installing it into the computer after I bought the blippin' dr4 too, I don't know just how I managed to get it installed but I was very close to taking it back to the store after the 30th bluescreen..
