M2454 15" LCD adaptation

I was just given an M2454 15" LCD display. I am not an avid mac user (sorry, I know I'm walking in dangerous territory), but would like to at least see if this monitor works. I own 2 PC's, both with DVI-equipped video cards. However, the mac monitor's cable, though sort of DVIish isn't the same, not to mention other differences like USB connections, and the fact that there is no separate power supply for the monitor.
Is there an adapter available that will make this monitor work with my PC? I've been checking all over the internet, and I see adapters everywhere, but they're either for old, preDVI macs, or the information available isn't sufficient enough for me to determine that they will work.
If there isn't such an adapter, you may want to start checking out Ebay...

The connector on that monitor is probably the Apple ADC connector. It has the ability to carry video, power, USB and firewire. There are adapters that allow for the plugging in of old ADC monitors to modern DVI equiped computers, but they cost like $100, so probably not worth it for a 15" monitor.

maybe if you asked nicely instead of ordering people around we might tell you.
As it is all you're going to hear is that you don't need both those jars, as they contain different versions of the same driver.
I'm not going to tell you which you need, as you should have the documentation to tell you that. But then you also should have the documentation to tell you how to set your classpath properly and you failed to read that too.

  • Livecycle/Dataservices 2.6.1 [Transient] property

    Hi Guys and Girls
I am using livecyle 2.6.1 with AIR 2.0.2 and a java backend, with the flex 3.4 SDK.
I have a managed collection with a property that has a [Transient]  variable set which is used as a flag for products that have been  ordered. This variable is only used locally.
This collection/dataservice connection has been set to autoSync enabled, however when I change this flag the collection is updated to the server, is there a way to have this changed to not update to the collection to the server when this flag is set.
I thought (wrongly apparently) having a property denoted as [Transient] was to avoid this default behaviour.
            [Transient]
            public var isOrdered:Boolean=false;
Any help you can offer would be much appreciated.
    Cheers

    Dustin,
Without the ColdFusion based data management destination defined on the LCDS server, the destination will not show up in the RMI registry.  It is only the CF adapter code that does this.  The 'stock' LCDS adapter does not support invoking via RMI the way the CF version does.
I would recommend you run the LCDS MessageBrokerServlet inside the ColdFusion web application.  This will give you two things:
    1. You will not have the overhead of RMI between CF and LCDS as they will share the same VM (better performance!).
    2. You will be able to use the CF Data Management Gateway to pass messages to Java-based destinations.  The APIs the gateway uses should work fine with either CF or Java based Data Management destinations.
The CF/LCDS integration doesn't support what you are trying to do when you run two seperate instances.

  • LiveCycle 2.6.1 Data Management with The ColdFusion 8.0 DataManagement Event Gateway Issue

    Hello all,
I've recently been developing a project that involves sending out events from ColdFusion to LiveCycle 2.6.1 using the Data Management event gateway to Flex 4.0 clients (LiveCycle and ColdFusion are on different Instances, but the same server).  To begin with, I used ColdFusion assemblers, DAO's, and models and everything worked fine locally.  After deploying this setup to a beta site, I decided that this setup would be very troublesome in terms of configuring clustered instances across multiple servers.  I then decided to convert my assemblers, DAO's, and models to Java.  The conversion went well and the flex clients see the exact same data as they did with the ColdFusion adapter.
Once I tried to send an update through from my ColdFusion application to a Flex client, I get an error stating that:
"Unable to find the Flex adapter for destination My_Dest in the RMI registry on localhost:1099.The Flex adapter may not be running or the destination may be incorrect."
After seeing this error, downloaded a Java-based RMI inspector to see what was going on.  To get a good idea of what was happening when the ColdFusion adapter was being used, I switched my data-management-config file back to the CF adapter.  I noticed that the RMI entry was as follows:
    localhost:1099/cfdataserviceadapter/My_Dest
    localhost:1099/cfassembler/my_cf_instance
Once I gathered this data as the base, I converted back to the Java adapter in my data-management-config file, restarted the servers, and ran the RMI inspector again.  Only the "localhost:1099/cfassembler/my_cf_instance" was showing.  (This one shows because I have "Enable Remote Adobe LiveCycle Data Management Access" checked in my CF instance's CF Admin -> Flex Integration).  Since I don't need this checked anymore, I unchecked it and re-ran the RMI inspector.  As it should, the "localhost:1099/cfdataserviceadapter/My_Dest" went away.  Since no destination shows up, it means that the Flex adapter isn't registering my "my_Dest" destination with RMI.  Since it isn't registered, I can't see it when I try to send a message through the CF Data Management event gateway.
Can anyone help me out here?  I certainly may be missing something when it comes to RMI (I don't work with Java very often).  Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you,
    Dustin Blomquist

  • Can I use a VGA to Mini DVI adapter for a LCD monitor for a macbook??

    Hello!
First off, I love this site. Secondly, I have a macbook 10.6.6 and a LCD moniter with a VGA input. I see on the apple site there is the "Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter" and "Apple Mini DVI to VGA Adapter". both seem compatible but I want to pick the right one. any ideas?
    Thank you!
    Grant

Apple didn't ship a 2.4GHz MacBook until February of 2008. If that's the model you have, or an earlier model, it has a mini-DVI port which would take the mini-DVI to VGA adapter. To confirm, run System Profiler, click on the Hardware heading at the very top of the left-side list, and tell us what the Model Identifier reports.
    Regards.

  • I just bought a recertified Mac Mini, and I wonder if anyone here knows if it's possible to hook up my Mac flat screen LCD monitor to it using what adapters? I currently have a DVI to ADC adapter connected to my G4 Powermac.

I just bought a recertified Mac Mini core duo - it's not the newer model-, and I wonder if anyone here knows if it's possible to hook up my Mac flat screen LCD monitor to it  and using what adapters? I currently have a DVI to ADC adapter connected to my G4 Powermac.
The company I bought it from is not Apple, and I may regret that. It was in my price range, though.

  • Hooking Up LCD TV Using mini DP to HDMI adapter ?

I am wondeirng if the Mini DP to HDMI adapters will work for my application as I have searched a few MFG. websites for the details but it seem all will only work fully (audio + video) with a LCD TV with a HDMI chip V1.3 or above. A LCD TV with a HDMI chip below V1.3 will get you only video.
My macbook pro supports audio though the Mini DP I know this for sure.
I cannot find the version of HDMI on my TV it is a Toshiba 42hl196 made in 2006. But I am betting it is older than V1.3.
I was trying to get away with only one cable so the Mini DP to HDMI adapter is the way I am wanting to go.
Can anyone tell me what version HDMI chip is in my Toshiba 42hl196?
Also can anyone recommend a Mini DP to HDMI adapter that would work for my application? Or am I stuck buying two cables like a Mini DP to VGA - connect to TV then run component audio (W/ stereo adapter) out of headset output on Macbook to TV?
This is what is listed under HDMI in my TV's manual:
    Suggested formats; 1080i, 480p, 480i, 720p
HDMI Audi; 2 channel L-PCM 32/44.1/48 Khz sampeling freaq. 16/20/24 bits per sample and Dolby Digital

    http://store.apple.com/us/product/H1824ZM/A/Moshi_Mini_DisplayPort_to_HDMI_Adapt er
if your tv says hdmi audio it has hdmi audio (which it does) get this anyway since you're trying to make this connection and make sure you set your sound to the hdmi audio.

  • Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter does not recognize SGI-Saver on DVI (LCD)

I bought a Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter for my new unibody 17" MacBookPro.
No dice! The lcd is not recognized, is not seen in the displays control panel, and LCD remains dark. This LCD works fine on the previous generation MacBook Pro when plugging into the DVI connector on that computer.
The Apple adapter seems not to recognize the DVI lcd panel. What's the fix? A firmware update perhaps?!?

The adapter works perfectly with a lower resolution Dell LCD panel. I'm hoping that Apple would have a firmware update to enable operation with the older generation LCD.

  • Can't connect MBP to LCD projector using DVI-TO-VGA adapter

I am trying to connect my MacBookPro to a Hitachi CP-X885 projector, which I normally connect an IBM Thinkpad to at 800x600 or 1024x768. I also use my MBP and the VGA adapter to connect to other LCD projectors and monitors (so my adapter works, as well as both systems, projector, cables, etc.). Problem is, that when I connect my MBP to the projector (I have to connect it via VGA as there is a 250 foot cable that goes to the front where the rear-projection takes place). When I do the "detect displays" nothing is detected. I also connected directly to the projector using a shorter cable, same thing (doesn't detect it). So, is the projector not supplying some type of signal to the output, that the MBP wants to see?)... is there a way to FORCE the MPB to have output? I know that if there is signal, it will display (we have LOTS of notebooks that display to the projector just fine, BUT have SEVERAL MBP's, and NONE of them will detect, and we've tried several adapters (just to be sure)... HELP!... is there some way to FORCE output from the MBP instead of it having to DETECT IT???
    Thanks!

Sorry Walter, but according to the Terms of Use (which you agreed to the first time you logged in to the Discussions and can be found if you click on the "Help" link to the right):
Do not post a URL unless it directly answers a user's question.
The URL you post does not answer David's original question. Also, it could potentially void his warranty because a firmware hack (and this is indeed a link to a "hack") is an unauthorized alteration to the hardware of his computer. ("Software" can only be installed on the hard drive and that hack is not installed on the hard drive, it's installed on the firmware on a chip inside the logic board.)
I don't want to take this thread off-topic, but your reply does NOT help David's situation. I would, however, value your input and anyone else's to this and any other topic in the Discussions as long as it is pertinent to the original subject.

  • Any issues connecting the new MacBook to LCD projector with VGA adapter?

I do presentations on the road using my old MacBook with whatever LCD I find when I get there. I run Keynote with lots of video clips in my presentations. I carry a Mini-DVI to VGA adapter. Most often it works fine.
I was hoping to update to the new MacBook, but I'm concerned about the display issues on the discussion board.
Has anyone had any experience connecting the new MacBook using Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter?

I received my MB (aluminium) 2.0 in early November, but only this week (2nd week December) have had a need to use it for a presentation via the Mini DisplayPort --> VGA adapter.
I thought I could use it just as I did my previous (white 1.83 MacBook) laptop, but this one is a bit quirkier. Plugging in the adapter cable results in a system freeze. Unplugging the cable will restore mouse control (unfreezing the computer) in most instances, but not all.
Turns out that in order to use an external VGA connection, I need to have the adapter plugged in and restart the machine. If the external display is not present from boot, then it freezes.
This is unlike my previous MacBook, in which I could plug-unplug willy-nilly. The screen would flash blue a couple of times and all would be fine, with the external extended display detected and functioning. This was one of those nice "Mac" things that my Windows-using colleagues were somewhat jealous of, as they constantly have trouble getting their laptops to recognize the LCD projector.
Sadly, it looks like I'm now living in their world...

  • VGA Adapter & LCD TV Noise

    Hi,
When my iBook G4 is connected via the VGA adapter to the VGA port on my LCD television, there is an audible hum or buzz emitted from the LCD television speakers. This occurs whether or not I have connected the iBook G4 headphone port to the LCD PC audio port, confirming that it is a VGA connection issue and not an audio connection issue. Please note that I am using the well-known screen spanning hack to enable both spanning and external resolutions higher than 1024 x 768.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue with the VGA adapter? Is there any consensus on the quality of the VGA adapter?
    Thanks,
    Rob

The most likely cause for an issue like this might be
if both ends of the power plugs are not grounded
correctly. You might be able to test this by running
the iBook on battery power only and not plugged into
the AC power adapter. Does the sound happen both on
battery power and when plugged in with the adapter?
    -Doug
    Hi Doug,
I did troubleshoot for ground loops and was still not able to eliminate the hum. It turns out that my LCD TV speakers are emitting a hum regardless of the signal source. I have confirmed that it is a defect with my LCD TV and not the iBook G4 or VGA adapter.
    Thanks,
    Rob

  • From my iphone 4 will I be able to play games like Infinity Blade or even modern combat games through Apple Digital AV Adapter on my HDTV/HDMI LCD-television?

I have a question before buying it...From my iphone 4 will I be able to play games like Infinity Blade or even modern combat games through Apple Digital AV Adapter on my HDTV/HDMI LCD-television?
Will it support or i have to wait for iphone 5!!!

Having spotty luck with it... see my other post in the iphone discussions...
It does work, but only some of the time - it seems to need a kick in the *** though. Sometimes it links to the TV right away, some times it takes some switching between apps or videos in the camera roll, and now for some reason, it takes plugging my wife's phone in first and then swapping phones once her's is recognized and TV output connection made before mine will output signal to the TV.
And it seems to do video only with some apps and audio only with others, and then nothing with yet others. I guess I just expected it to work, given that we both have freshly updated iphones (4.3), good cables and 2 HD TV's to test with...

  • DVI - adapter - VGA to LCD w/only VGA port open

    Hello All,
Have a question, I guess it would be color management related.  I have 2 monitors and 2 computer systems that I use.  The older system I have decided to make my photoshop system and my newer one is a gaming system.  Ok on the monitors one has a DVI port, VGA, and RGB my second monitor has a DVI, VGA, HDMI all outputs on my videocards have DVI out.  So do you guys see it as being detrimental if I connect my photoshop system by using a dvi-> adapter -> VGA inputs on my LCDs?  Would color management and general quality suffer going with the VGA ports?  I dont want to go the KVM route since it costs a lot to get a good one and dont want to have to worry about input lag when gaming.  Any info is appreacated.
    Thanks,
    Eddie

Ok, so you have the gaming computer feeding dual monitors via dvi interfaces and you want to feed one of those monitors with another type interface as well from your Photoshop computer ?
The best and most stable image on your monitors will be achieved with a dvi connection and your monitor running at its native resolution.  If you are lucky enough to have a nearly ideal vga connection between computer and monitor (again running at native resolution) then the setup should work and no impact on color management should occur. In many cases, however, the vga (analog) interfaces to digital (liquid crystal) displays can produce less than ideal results for a number of reasons. This can result in pixel jitter and/or small shifts in color. SO the advice is that if you go the vga route and you are concerned with color accuracy you must recalibrate the vga-fed monitor.  Make sure the dvi-to-vga converter can handle the resolution (high analog frequency) if you have a high pixel count display.
