M2v-23.9 Imports as m2v-29.9

I have been trying, without success, to create a 23.9 fps DVD. I used Compressor to create an MPEG2 file at 23.9 fps, which in final result looks and plays great at 23.9. My problem is, when I import it into DVDSP, in the asset details, it shows it to be 29.9! When I view the video asset in DVDSP, it plays like a 29.9 with juddery playback.
NOW what am I doing wrong? Seems I can't win with DVDSP.

OK, I did a test burn and it came out to be 23.9, which pleased me greatly. So, the big and small of it is... if the original asset is 23.9, but it shows 29.9, ignore it. That does not mean that it will turn out that way.

  • Help I can not import an m2v

Good evening and good continuation of the festivities.
It 'the first time I have, so far I never had any problem in importing the files demuxed from DVD with extension [b]. M2v [/ b] and then process the movie clip, I made a hundred similar procedures and never before have I had understood nothing of the sort.
Today for the first time happened to me with a DVD, in fact just demuxed video stream [b]. M2v [/ b], after importing it in the time line, I see the monitor in a quality movie to be compassionate as a mobile, perhaps one can see even better, that is full of small and large pixel squares, as if the massively images have undergone further processing. Another thing confirmed even if I finish the encoding, so the problem is downstream of the procedure, but I think that is the encoding nel'importazione.
For comparison I have made tests muxing:
With Adobe Encore same story there too, just the amount in the time line, I have an image in the monitor pitiful, instead making the Pro DVDlab procedutra with the image is identical to the original.
    How can such a thing?
If I perform the procedure with other files, which have previously been treated, not matched by a similar problem.
Through the analysis with Mediainfo the file is perfectly smooth with the DVD standard, and also by viewing the file with any player is perfect.
If you are willing to upload the file for further analysis, believe me I do not know where to turn, this file is not intended to be imported it from its premiere by Encore
After various tests, from the first light of dawn, you know what the end was enough to do? not believe it ever, and even now I replace the. m2v with. mts
I do not know for what reason or reasons unknown to me, but the problem was the extension of the "container".
These are the screens that appear in the display window with the imported file with the extension .m2v
These are the screens that appear in the display window with the same file renamed with the extension .mts
However, if you want to test the file, and then try to rename it. Mts, to give me a confirmation of what I've tested, the potetet download here http://www.mediafire.com/?y2gu30lum7awadr
However it is strange. because the same file imported DVDlab does not have this problem that has Encore and
    Sincerely thank you

What do you need to do with this img?
For example, if you want to burn a physical DVD, you can easily accomplish that by using Disk Utility. You don't need FCP X at all.
You only need FCP if you need to make editing changes to your video. If that is the case, FCP will not open this img directly. Your best bet is to use MPEG Streamclip (free) and the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component($20) installed. Then you will be able to create a file that FCP can work with.
But again, it depends on what you need to do with the file.

  • Importing large .m2v files problem

I am currently using cs3 version of encore and have come accross a problem when trying to import a large (3.1gb)m2v file that was created in PPcs3.
When I try to import, encore starts to try to import but them suddenly closes down completely. I can import smaller m2v files with out a problem.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
my system is Inte duo 2 quad processor QX6800, 4gb ram, GEforce 8800GTX graphics card and I'm using XP Pro operating system
    Ian

I had similar problems with CS3. This is my research and solution (so far...)
When outputting MPG files for HD, if you dont do multiplexing in Premiere, it generates a M2V file and a WAV file. Encore basically crashed on every import of the m2v, (irrespective of importing as timeline or as asset) if it was larger than some value (experimentaly around 8GB).
Someone suggested that it had to do with the XMPSES files. So put the m2v and wav file in a separate directory and import from there (or delete the XMP and XMPSES file). I tried this and it does work, but the chapterpoint information is lost, so in the end I tried to avoid creating >7GB files for import in ENCCS3. However, later with another project, Encore did not even accept 4GB files.
In the end I found the solution to be to have Premiere generate a transport stream (i.e. a multiplexed file m2t in stead of two separate files for audio and video (wav and m2v)). Get a license for the AC3 encoder, switch on multiplexing and Encore happily imports the resulting files without any problem (until now)
    Hope this helps

  • Importing a m2v file, or a dvd into final cut

What the best (less compression on video only) way to import a movie of a dvd in final cut pro 5.0.4 and 5.1 . Will fcp import a m2v file. If any other software in involved, let me know. What the settings in the timeline set? Would it matter if the dvd was widescreen or 4:3 in the setting for sequences? Thankyou for reading this and any responces will be helpful.. E.

I am using the mpeg streamclip. for a 2 hour movie, and the export of hdv 60i, its taking over three hours and its at 60 percent. is that normal for the export setting? Also, i tried to rip the dvd staraight into the mpeg streamclip, but was having trouble. I had allready rip it in the m2v file and imported that into mpeg streamclip and it works. Is there a way i can skip that step and go directly in mpeg streamclip.

  • Encore locks system during import of m2v files

I have exported numerous m2v files from Adobe Premiere, and can not import them into Encore without a full system lock.  I am using PCs with Windows 7 Pro 64bit on a Desktop with 8GB RAM and Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit on a Laptop with 4GB RAM.  I've had nothing but problems with CS4 since I cleanly installed my Desktop and purchased my Laptop.  This may not be an issue if I could export Microsoft Uncompressed or DV compressed AVI files to transcode, but Adobe Premiere will not export DV compressed with video, only audio, and will not export uncompressed at all!  On the desktop, I can export Matrox RTX2 DV compressed files, but it takes forever.  I have a system with Vista Pro 64bit at work, and none of these problems are there.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the whole suite (plus removed all preferences files and went in to the user profile and manually removed any traces) to no avail.  As I am experiencing this same issue across two totally different systems, is it a known bug with Windows 7 64bit?  Is there any way to fix the issue?

  • DVDSP4 corrupting Inverse Telecine .m2v's on import? Rant: long post

    hello everyone
    my computer set up:
i am on DVDSP 4.03 (latest update) with all pro updates, have not upgraded to QT 7.1.1 and OS X (10.4.6).
    my workflow:
most of the tape material i encode from comes from my MPX3000 hardware encoder and is then transfered via network to my mac for authoring.
    my problem:
i transfer the compressed files over the network no problem, import them into DVDSP, no problem, i place them into the stream, and the file is corrupt. now, i use that term because the header information of the .m2v is all corrupt, as in the bit-rate is not what it's supposed to be, running time is off and believe it or not the first 20 or so minutes (as example, this varies from project) is in the middle of the stream, the end credits are in the beginning of the stream and so forth. amazingly, the audio is perfect.
at first i did the standard erase prefs, .PAR folders and even optimized my drives (since i have been a bit negligent to run techtool or disk warrior). still continued to have problems.
then i suspected the network, even though we have a gigabit network, i am in a fairly large facility and we are always transferring large files. so i directly connected to the mac from Spruce and made sure no other ethernet was connected, transeferred the .m2v's and same problem.
ok, i thought, maybe DVDSP became corrupt? i removed FCS from my mac, made sure ALL files related to it were also trashed and re-installed. imported the the .m2v, same problem.
ok, ok, i am going crazy, the ENCODED file is corrupt, so opened it up in spruce, file was exactly as it should be!!
then i thought, let me see in QT, VLC and MpegstreamClip...
QT = file had incorrect: bit-rate, duration and frame rate.
VLC = file had correct header info, but playback was half frame rate.
MpegSTreamClip = file had correct header infor, but once again, played and half frame rate.
then i thought: "what if i compile my project and then demux in Mpegstreamclip". compiled in Spruce, demuxed and imported into DVDSP, wayyyyy better, but still had problems! the running time was of, it added about 20 minutes of video (it duplicated some scenes).
i was starting to go crazy, then it hit me!
whenever i flagged for inverse telecine in CBR mode (i do not trust MPX3000 IT flag detection in VBR) the files were corrupt. so i did a test:
    CBR with IT on
    CBR with IT off
    VBR with IT on
    VBR with IT off
to my surprise, all files with IT off worked perfectly in DVDSP, QT, VLC and Mpegstreamclip!
my stomached dropped to the floor! i had 2 huge projects due with the features being a 24 fps D5 master, so IT had to be, that meant they had to be completely re-authored in Spruce!
unfortunately, a lot of shortcuts and files that have no problems in DVDSP had a hard time is Spruce.
once again, i LOVE DVDSP, but AGAIN, i lost some respect for her
by the way, i tried importing some menu files (audio and video) that were encoded in Compressor and some had trouble importing in Spruce while others no problems (even though the EXACT same settings were used).
in addition, so dummy 5.1 streams i created were not compatible with the 5.1 streams created from the acx5100 card. of course i checked my sample rate, bit-rate and channels, no good!
i just dont understand all of a sudden how this could happen, oh well, it gives me an excuse to ask for a 10k drive that i have been wanting for some time to be used as my root drive!
let's brainstorm guys, see whats going on?
    anyway, thanks for any input
by the way, i will have updates as i upgrade, test and trash prefs and such. i am sure this works! (i still have faith in you DVDSP!)
    Mikey M.

    Hey Max
yeah that method does sound tedious!
as far as the encode, when i use the hardware encoder, if i am coming from an SD source, then i try to get the HIGHEST quality master/transfer i can get.
if i am capturing from a HD master, then there is not much i can do (since i dont have a pre-processor) except make sure the in-box conversion is set correctly.
if i am capturing SD material for various non DVD encodes, 8-bit is the way i go.
for HD, it depends how they color corrected it. but i generally like to go 8-bit as well.
i have yet to create 24p files using compressor for DVD.
    **UPDATE**
so talking to my IT guy at work, come to find out that the NT operating (my Spruce) has a 4 GB file limit. i told him that was hard to believe, since if tha twas the case, i would have trouble with DVD-9's.
anyway, he did say something that made some sense: that since the header information was being corrupted, that no matter what program in OSX was used for playback, it would have problems. so i moved teh said file back to spruce and sure enough, it was corrupted!
he suggested that i .zip the file (since this would act like a shell) and do 2 things: FTP it via our spruce and move the file over again in the .zip.
just to appease him as well, i encoded the said file to be under 3 GB's (i am totally skeptical of this method).
    will keep you guys posted

  • Encore 2.0 tryout whants to re-encode all m2v that i import ????

Hi i'm testing the tryout on my system with 1.5 still install and when i import video asset that i used before in a 1.5 project and where accepted by 1.5 without any need to re-encode, encore 2.0 wants to re- encode the m2v file these file are created using tmpenc or a pioneer LX1
recorder so i know that the file are conforming to the dvd speck have been using this setup for many years with the same configuration nothing has change in my preset i also transfer these m2v in an other system "Mac dvd studio pro" with no need for re-encoding.
Can this be a limitation of the trial ????

    This is ridiculous!!!
Is there no definate setting to encode mpegs and bring them in with transcoding "for the second time" in Encore?! It's nuts!!! I just spent hundreds of pounds buying Encore 2 after having used 1.5 extensively. I no longer have access to 1.5, and I'm using Adobe 6.5 with the Canopus Soft MPEG Encoder to export my video. Unfortunatly for me, this means I'm due to loose £1000 of business this week! Unless I can find a way to export MPEGs from Premiere. Exporting to an AVI, and then transcoding in Encore is not an option with the volume of projects I get. I need to be able to encode things once and move on. Am I really going to have to send Encore 2 back and buy something else? I specifically wanted the menu building functions that integrate with Photoshop, which save me many hours.
Someone please help, I am SOOOO dissappointed!

  • Kein Import von m2v in encore

    Hallo
Fehlermeldung beim Importversuch "Could not import fill meinFilm.m2v. Video files for this project must have a resolution of 720x576 or 704x576.

  • DVDSP will not import my m2v files.

I am creating an SD DVD from HD footage. I exported the files using compressor Best Quality DVD 90 minutes, but the quality of the final DVD is too low. I am trying different compressor settings like Mpeg 2 Elementary Stream and a variety of other mpeg2 settings, but none will import into DVDSP. I thought all mv2 files could be imported as an asset in to DVD Studio Pro (I am working from FCP Studio 2 on a Mac Pro).
My questions is: What is the setting to use in Compressor that will yield the highest res images - that will import into DVDSP - that will make a functioning SD DVD?

I am making a 6 track DVD. Camera: HPX-500 at 720pn. Each clip is about 3 minutes long. Original .mov brought into FCP from P2card is about 1.2GB. Exporting each clip individually. audio was brought in with original .mov file from p2card. Audio when imported into DVDSP using "Best Quality 90 minutes" is .ac3. Does this information help?

  • DVDSP 3 Crashes importing m2v files

Hi, I´ve been trying to finish a project on DVDSP3 for 5 days now. Always the same problem. I´ve encoded a FCP rendered sequence to m2v file using compressor. The process was sucessful!. The thing is when I try to import the file into DVDSP using Palette crashes automatically. I started trying other ways of importing and the same thing over and over again. I´ve tried to open the file on Quicktime and works perfectly, the preview works fine on finder. Everything seems to be in order. But when dragging the file into the timeline the program crashes. Sometimes also crashes when I open the program. I´ve repaired the disk permissions, downloaded the proapp update and installed it again.... nothing. Tried also re-installing the DVDSP and nothing. I tried importing the m2v file as an asset and the file appears on the list but when dragging it to the timeline, guess what?: crashes again. Finally I took the FCP project and compressed it again, thought maybe the other file was corrupted. Everything was fine until I tried dragging the file to the timeline when DVDSP crashed again... sorry but i´m f@*ing tired of this. CAN ANYONE HELP!!!!!!!...
Like i said before it´s been my 5th day in a row and nothing seems to work... Any help will be great!
Sorry for the long text but I tried to explain my process in detail so proper help can be found...
    Thanks in advance...
PS: have noticed that every topic with this kind of problem never got an answer...
very dissapointed with DVDSP... will not recommend to no-one...
    Sorry for the bad english

Hi Sebakd, welcome to the discussions.
Download and install the proapplication support file from Apple...
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/proapplicationsupport31macosx104.html
If that doesn't fix it, come back and let us know - there will be a simple reason for the issue.
In 9/10 cases the proapp support file fixes the problem, and in the vast majority of the posts citing this issue that fix is recommended in the replies for all to see.

  • Import .m2v file into Compressor.

    Hi,
Is it possible to Import a .m2v file into Compressor?
    If so, How?
    Thanks in advance.
    Mac Pro
    Intel Xeon
    Final Cut Studio 3

    Try again.
    Yes.
Just a reminder that the m2v is an elementary stream – video only. If you need it muxed with audio, it can be done in DVD SP or in MPEG Streamclip.

  • Importing m2v-file: Error loading transcode preset

    Dear all,
Just have Encore 1.51 a few weeks now (eBay). But sofar I couldn't get a project together. Only problems when importing (good) m2v files. Also on the forum almost no solutions.
Once again I have an Error loading transcode preset. I just made a DVD from a video on my DVD recorder, demuxed it on my computer, but can't import it :((
I also have posted 2 previous topics concerning my other problems with Encore, but sofar nobody has an answer. I just want to have working software.
Can anyone really help. Otherwise it's wiser to sell this software.
    Han Bouman

    >Resolution: 704*576
Although Encore will accept 704x576 it will always re-transcode it to 720x576. That shouldn't be the reason for the "abnormal condition" error however.
Maybe Neil's suggestion of a DVD-Video illegal GOP structure applies.
You could do some more testing with
    MPEG Validator
. Are any of the GOPs larger than 15 frames? Does MPEG Validator report anything it doesn't like?

  • DVD Studio Pro 4.0.3 crashes when import m2v files...please help me

All of a sudden, DVD Studio Pro 4.0.3. doesn't like any of my m2v files created by Compressor 2.0.1
these are the same m2v files I imported and burned into DVDs a couple months ago...and any new m2v files I create with Compressor...cause DVD Studio Pro to crash
DVD Studio Pro 4.0.3 will import old m2v files that I created a couple years ago using DVD Studio Pro 2 - and any new audio files created with Compressor and quicktime files from Final Cut Pro 5.
I have 1.5 GB of RAM...my drives are not too full...this was all working fine until recently and I can't see what has changed.

You can't download for the upgrade 4.1 is the Universal Binary and only part of the entire studio

  • Imported .m2v bit rates in Encore 2.0

    Hello,
I've noticed that whenever I import an .m2v into Encore, the bit rate reported in Encore is 2Mbps lower than that reported by other programs (e.g. AVICodec).  For example, I'm trying to make a DVD from an .m2v created to have a bit rate of 7.7Mbps in Apple's Final Cut Pro/Compressor, but imported into Encore as an asset, its bit rate is listed as 5.7 Mbps.  I need this DVD to be of the highest quality possible, so I figure that by creating an .m2v with an outside bit rate of 10Mbps, it will come into Encore with a bit rate of 8Mbps.  Is this the right way to approach this problem?
In the past, I've run into the same issue with importing .m2v's into Encore and have opted to import .avi's instead and let Encore do its own transcoding.  (Importing .m2v's into Encore sometimes creates weird blips in the video too.)  The problem is that this time I want to create a DVD from an uncompressed HD Quicktime.  (Since I'm a PC guy, a friend with an Apple computer is doing me a favor by converting the uncompressed HD Quicktime into .m2v for me.)
Any suggestions or advice will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.
    -R

    >Even if things have been changed on my system why should Encore do all the transcoding, write the files to disk and then hang on this issue? Even after a fresh re-install with all registries cleared etc?
An uninstall/Reinstall will almost certainly *not* clear out the registry, or even all the common files installed. Otherwise, you would be able to install a trial version, then uninstall it, and re-install again for another 30 days. This obviously doesn't work - so uninstalling is not removing all the relevant files.
Another common problem is that badly written 3rd party apps often reset the merit order of DirectShow related codecs, and this can mean that even when you think you're using one codec, the system (not Encore, but the OS) will use another one altogether. This can mean that what you
    i think
is one type of AVI file is actually a different one, with perhaps an older version of a codec used to create the AVI being used because a codec pack installed/overwrote the good one.
I have had this happen to me - and it is a pig of a problem.
I could be completely wrong though.

  • Import m2v into final cut x

I'm trying to import an m2v file into final cut x, but it won't import.  Any suggestions?

FCP iz and always has ben QuickTime based. m2v is an MPEG format.
look at the time lapse on my computer.
I don't know what this means? The m2v file? Yes, you can look at it on your computer. It's the format used by iPad and Apple TV. You cannot edit it. It's not a production format. It's a delivery format. I don't know why the material from the 7D was made into a delivery format when it was going to be edited. Either you can have it remade into a production format, or you can convert it. The former would be much better. m2v is heavily compressed for use on mobile devices and such.
