.m2v and .ac3 submision come out different lengths

Twice, the .m2v file is short of the original file by about 10%, while the .ac3 is the full length. Any ideas on why?

This happened to me yesterday.
DVD SP told me they were off - by about 10%.
However, once dropped into the track, they lined up just fine. Not sure what's going on...
I did also notice that my MPEG-2 (120minutes) took forever to import into DVDSP. Anyone else having this problem since upgrading to FCS2?

  • My m2v and aiffs from Compressor are different lengths?

I am trying to create a "play all" track from 18 assets that i created using Compressor.
I understand the process of creating the "play all" track thanks two discussion threads here.
The issue is that as I add my assets to the track I notice that the audio start falling behind the video.
When I go to my assets folder and check the files, indeed the audio files are 5-10 frames shorter than the video files?
All 18 files started at .wma's, they all went through Compressor just fine and they all play back great on a test DVD I burned.
Any advice on how to deal with these discrepancies would be greatly appreciated.
    Henry

There should be no gaps except maybe in the audio. Not sure why you have gaps in the video (m2v) stream...
As previously indicated in my last post, once you have converted your audio to AC3 (to save space) and you place your first clip you sometimes find is a slight differential between the running time of the audio and the video. When you place your second clip ensure that the video is butted up against the previous video (Clip 1). The problems arise IF the audio "appears" to be slightly shorter. If you then butt then audio against the previous audio then in theory if could be have the video of Clip 1 slightly overlapping the audio of clip 2. If you do that over subsequent clips the audio will obviously drift out of sync.
So.... with your Video beautifully butted up against each other (no gaps) you need to check the Start time of each clip in the timeline and ensure that the audio is in sync with this start time (and if it is slightly longer than the video it is associated with making them the same length). you can find all this info in the inspector if you click on the clips in the timeline. If their are gaps in the audio that shouldn't be a problem
We do this all the time with multi episdoe tv shows and the like.
    Hope this helps further

  • How to Add .m2v and .ac3 files in encore?

I am doing my HD post in FCP and creating .m2v and .ac3 files using compressor. I would like to burn my DVDs in encore to try out blu-ray DVDs. How do I add separate .ac3 and .m2v files in encore?
    Thanks

They get created as separate files originally. Just Import both and add each to the timeline.

  • I'm trying to get the image to print correct size.  i've tried center image, fit to media image,  and they all come out the same size...smaller than the size in "image size".  is this an Epson problem or Photoshop problem.  Thanks!

I just got a new printer...Epson R3000...but have had this problem before.  It's probably a simple fix, but I can't figure it out.  I'm asking for printing on 8.5 x 11 and the image comes out 6.5 x 9.5 every time.  Help please!  And thanks!

The Epson site stated that the R3000 printer can print borderless however the quality will suffer in the expanded print area. Borderless is not supported on some heavy paper.  To me the means your better off limiting you images size to the standard print area. There will be magins about 1/8" on the four  sides so the print area on 8.5"x11" paper is 8.26" x 10.76"....
Take note of the print size set by the epson driver it may change depending on the paper type set. Note my first epson 4800 setup where I set 8.5" x 11" sheet paper from tray into the printer setting the driver set a smaller size for the paper which was reflected into the Photoshop Print preview. It shows paper is 8.499" x 10.999 with a small unprintable area across the top....

Since the quality of any particular brand or type of paper may be changed by the manufacturer at any time, Epson cannot guarantee the quality of any non-Epson brand or type of paper. Always test a sample of paper stock before purchasing large quantities or printing large jobs.

  • Import M2V and AC3 Error

I have downloaded the trial of Adobe Production Premium CS5 and am having a little trouble with Premiere Pro.  This is a clean install, no other version has ever been installed on this system.  It looks like both M2V and AC3 files are supported by Premiere, yet when I try to import them I get the following error: The file has an unsupported compression type.  So how do I import these files?  Any help is appreciated.

CS5 has made a major, and much welcomed departure - one no longer needs to remove and run Adobe Clean Scrip. The S/N from the full-paid version will convert the program. While all is not perfect with Adobe, this is a wonderful change!
    Good luck,

  • M2v and AC3 dont Merge in Toast

Hello maybe i was wondering why doesnt Toast Joins the M2v and AC3 files sometimes when i'm trying to burn them, i mean all this these years i have been joining them as usual but since some months ago sometimes i just add the Video file and doesnt ask me for the audio, i said sometimes because there are times when it doesnt ask to merge them and some other times it does, i dont know but i dont feel very confortable with Toast not asking me to join them.
    Thanks for any assitance

Are you seeing a shift in duration to g with the sync shift? maybe try a test encode in Compressor to see if Cinemacraft is changing the duration of your video. I use compressor for both mpeg and ac3 encodes, and nenver see this type of shift.

  • New Mini - Firewire plug is stuck and won't come out

    Hi,
This is a virtually new Mac Mini; A firewire plug from my 20" Cinema display is stuck in the firewire port and won't come out. (I'm trying to disassemble this mini to move to another location.)
I'm trying very hard not to pull too hard because I don't want to damage the firewire port. But I don't know what to do - it's just stuck and won't come out.
    Any ideas? Many Thanks,
    Frank B.

Well, I finally got it out after fiddling with it, and walking away several times. I had to make sure I didn't damage it, so I approached it very gingerly.
How did I get it out? It's amazing what actually worked. What worked was grasping ONLY the firewire chord about 1 to 2 inches away from the plug and pulling Only on the chord straight out.
Doing it this way, it popped out with very little resistance. Strangely, the Apple Cinema Display firewire plug almost seems to click when you plug it in.
So I immediately tested a generic firewire plug (non-Apple related) and it plugged in and pulled out with no problems or resistance whatsoever.
"This completes my test of the Apple Cinema Display Firewire plug." (a joke there)

  • I have a iphone 4s and i can't get the charger to come out of the phone its stuck on one side and will not come out

I Have a iphone 4s and can't get the charger to come out...it was hard to get out the time before but i thought it was just me so then i charged it last night tryed taking it out and it is stuck on one side and will not come out...any suggestions on how to get it out?

You will just have to carefully pull harder. Push the other side back in so it is aligned, then pull it straight out.

  • Sending a slideshow via email in Photoshop Elements 10-how do you do it and have it come out good?

I made a slide show, and under properties, chose size to share via email, then attached it to an email.  I viewed it, and boy was it crappy!  All out of focus and broken up.  How do you create a slideshow for email sizing and have it come out like the original pictures?

If you have Windows 7 you can use Live Mail. Simply click the attachment icon and add your files and you will get an instant slideshow for emailing.
Recipients are no longer forced to install Microsoft Silverlight.

First, empty the Trash if you haven't already done so.
Use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) to explore your volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one.
Proceed further only if the problem hasn't been solved.
ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
    Back up all data now.
Install ODS in the Applications folder as usual.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, then drag or copy — do not type — into the Terminal window:
    sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
Press return. You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means.
When you're done with ODS, quit it and also quit Terminal.

  • Re-burn a DVD from .m2v and .ac3 files

Can someone explain to me if one can re-burn a DVD from Compressor after you've created the .m2v (mpeg-2) and .AC3 (dolby audio) files?
Here is my problem. I create a DVD with Compressor and have both the .m2v and .ac3 files on my drive. I'd like to save these and not have to re-compress the original ProRes file all over again and just burn these again to another DVD in the future.
How do you do that? Do you need another program to do this?
    Any help appreciated!

No.  Compressor can't use the elementary streams to build a DVD.
To burn multiple DVDs, save to a disk image (Output Device = Hard Drive) and burn that from that in Disk Utility.

  • Lost my m2v and ac3 files and want to recosntruct from a final DVD

I lost the compressed files m2v and wav that I used to generate a menu driven DVD at the time I was using a Windows based PC (I used Pinnacle Impression with a menu to generate the final DVD.
Now I no longer use this PC and made the big step to the Mac world in buying a MacPro with FinaCutPro and DVD STudio Pro. The only thing I have left is the final DVD with its usual contents (VOB files).
Is it possible to find a way to import the VOB files (with the sound) into DVD Studio Pro, split it by Chapter and re-create a brand new menu ? Or using Compressor or FCP in intermediate steps before using DVD Studio Pro ?

You can use * MPEG Streamclip * to extract the original m2v and ac3 files from the VOB file without any quality loose, and use such files in a new DVDSP project. You'll have to rebuild your menus and navigation.
    Hope that helps !

  • How to directly burn .m2v and .ac3 files on a DVD?

I made a DVD movie processing on Compressor but I forgot to select the "Job Action" (Create DVD), so now I have the 2 files .m2v and .ac3 but I have to burn the DVD. How can I do without re-processing the original movie?
    Thanks

If you have Toast or DVD Studio you can use these files. If not, you'll may need  to re-encode the movie.
But try this if you saved the the Compressor project that made those elementary streams. Reopen it and slightly change the name of the output files (say, by adding a numeric prefix to each name). When you do the yellow warning triangle should go away. Change the job action to burn DVD and submit, If it works, you should get a near-complete progress bar in a matter of seconds. Then you should be able to burn your physical disk or make a disk image for multiple copies.
    Good luck.
