M3u file stream in Flash?

Does anyone know how to go about streaming an .m3u file
through a flash button. I have an m3u file located on a server
accessible through the web. If i type the address to that m3u in my
internet browser, it will open the file and play it in windows
media player. However whenin flash, I add a behavior using the
behaviors panel to "Go to Web Page" on the release of the button,
it will not allow me to open the .m3u file. It also appears to be
opening a different version of windows media player than if I
simply goto my internet browser and manually enter the URL of the
.m3u. Am I properly assigning my .m3u playlist to a button in my
flash .fla, or is there a better way to do this? Please help. This
is an urgent matter and I have seemed to hit a brickwall.

Since you requested advice, mine is to use html forms.
I gotta say I agree.  With JQuery being as mature as it is now, I don't see a very good case for Flash-based forms.
Bianca, do you have a reason for wanting to use Flash forms?  If nothing else, you will be preventing anyone who uses IOS from using said forms.  I say Apple users bring this sort of thing on themselves, but - rightly or wrongly - they do represent an increasing chunk of the browser market.

  • Streaming m3u files using iTunes and not QuickTime plug-in

    Hi,
I am listening to mp3 files using a webserver and streaming m3u files. When I click on the url I get the QuickTime plug-in. I don’t like the QuickTime plug-in very much so I would like to have iTunes starting instead of QuickTime.
I have chosen to use iTunes for m3u files but it do not work. If I save the m3u file to my disc and double click iTunes is starting as I want but not when clicking on the link in Safari.
Is there any solution to get iTunes starting when clicking on a link instead of QuickTime plug-in?
The link looks like this: http://www.samplelink.info/custom.m3u?ltype=SEARCHRESULTS
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
I'm generally ignorant in the way of those computer thingies, but seeing as no one else has responded, I'll venture my poorly informed opinion.
It seems to me that what you're asking for can't be done (as yet). What you would need is an "iTunes plug-in" effectively, which I don't think exists.
The only way you could set iTunes as the default for playing m3u is to leave the web/browser context (i.e. by downloading the m3u file) and then opening it with iTunes, which you already know how to do.

  • What is a M3U file and can QuickTime Pro convert

I am on You Tube, and am having all kinds of people wanting to be in my video's. So I had this girl shoot some footage and send it to me, and it came as a M3U file. When i clikc it , iTunes opens, I think it's some kind of streaming file? She has a Sony camera, and just uploads from her camera onto You tube, with NO prolbmes. Will QuickTime Pro convert this to a .MOV file, or is there a program that will do this? i slo have Final Cut Pro...but I could not get that to do it.

The .m3u extension is a "playlist" file and is audio only.

  • In Lion, Safari 5.1 no longer plays .m3u files

In Lion, Safari 5.1 no longer plays .m3u files - it just downloads them, and dragging the file back into the browser doesn't do anything. This functionality used to work in 10.6 - the .m3u file would play directly in the browser. The .m3u files still do play directly in Firefox 5, so it doesn't seem to be an issue with the Quicktime plugin, as both browsers should be using the same one.

I just experienced this (trying to listen to audio previews at Amazon.com). If you are running the Click2Flash extension, set it to allow Flash on the domain. That allowed previews to play in Safari for me instead of downloading .m3u's.

  • How to change a rss.xml file for m3u file for my podcast

    Bonjour,
I actually produce as well a podcast with unless 3 mp3 file, and that's ok ... But, on one of my post, I stream a playlist to a page of my website , and I noticed, after generating a playlist from my player when streaming (.m3u file)... I notice that I can play it in i tunes in a continuing stream (I can connect from this file in itunes on another post to my stream (note that I use a static IP from my access provider, in order to a stable connection to my web site - without using No IP) ...
My question is,as the application recognizing the file and playing it,how to configure my rss.xml for this type of file(*.m3u)...
    Thank you for replying

I don't think you are going to be able to do this: podcasts are not intended to contain streams or playlists, only specific audio or video files. The fact that the iTunes Application can connect to it doesn't mean that it will work in a podcast feed. However if you want to ask iTunes Support for advice it's at at
http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ - click on 'Other iTunes Store Features' in the list and then on 'Podcasts'.

  • Trying to find .m3u files - No Joy

I can see the files if I browse the Music For Car folder.
Don't want 'em, the car don't know what to do with them and then it is another file you have to skip over to play music.
If I put .3mu in the search criteria, and Music For Cars folder is selected and Filenames is selected no files are shown in the list!!!!!
If I remove the search criteria I can manually identify 90 + .m3u files. Surely I do not have to find each one by eyeballing each folder or is this something I have to do in unix to find files, I was hoping OS X might have a GUI way of doing it.
Oh I also searched for 'Stream URL Files' in the Kind selection but it can't find that kind either.
How come I can see these files but I cannot search for them????
Hey also why when I burn a DVD of this music is it full of the same files but with a . in front of each one, this is REALLY bad when navigating the MP3s on the car system as you have wade through hundreds of mp3 files that won't play.
I have search and searched to find out how to stop it from doing this but cannot find out how.
This is far from the intuitive Mac interface I had grown to love, this just seems flakey.
Anyone any ideas? I am frustrated as **** working on this for several hours trying to workaround a weird OS X bug.

If the volume has not been indexed by spotlight, then you won't be able to find anything. There are other utilities out there that will just do a flat file search for file names. You can also index the volume by opening the Terminal and typing: mdimport Don't hit return, yet, and leave a space after the command and drag your volume to the terminal window. Then, hit return. It will take maybe a minute to index the volume, at which point you will be able to search for those files.
The m3u files are apparently some sort of playlist format created by winamp or some other music player/organization software.
The ._ files are the metadata associated with the file, like Artist, Album, etc. Since the DVD file format is unable to store the metadata with the music file itself, the metadata is split off.
You can use a program like [BlueHarvest|http://zeroonetwenty.com/blueharvest> or the dot_clean utility in the Terminal to strip out the metadata files. I haven't used either on a CD or DVD, but I imagine after moving the files to the burn folder or disk, you would then run either on that volume before you burn. I have to do the same on a USB memory stick that I use in my car.
For dot_clean, open Terminal and type:dot_clean -m Make sure you leave a space after the m and don't hit return. Now, drag your disk to the terminal window and the path to the volume will be placed after the command. Hit return and it will clean up your disk.

  • [solved] mplayer and m3u files

I'm trying to stream music from netjuke through mplayer. Netjuke creates .m3u files but when I tell mplayer to play the file I get the following error:
    Win32 LoadLibrary failed to load: avisynth.dll, /usr/lib/win32/avisynth.dll, /usr/local/lib/win32/avisynth.dll
I have the codecs package installed and there are a lot of codecs in /usr/lib/win32 but no avisynth.
    How can I fix this?

  • M3U file in QuicTime

    hi,
    First question
I would like to know how to open a M3U streaming audio file with QuickTime. The QuickTime spec say it could but I'm not able. For exemple QuickTime could not open this URL http://stream.cfak.qc.ca/live128.m3u but if I download the M3U file, iTunes will be able to stream it.
(I also tried to open the live128.m3u file and paste the inside http://stream.cfak.qc.ca:80/live128 URL on the QuickTime, but same result)
    Second question
Why Flip4Mac could stream the following 28kb/s link but is unable to stream the 56kb/s?
    http://stream.megaquebec.net/chyz28.asx
    http://stream.megaquebec.net/chyz56.asx
    Thanks!

I got a "server not responding" message on the WMP files.
I confirm your results with the http://stream.cfak.qc.ca/live128.m3u link. Pasted in a new browser window or directly in the Open URL dialog of QuickTime failed to work.
Downloading the tiny file did allow iTunes to play it using a double click and pasting the URL into iTunes Open Stream dialog also worked. It also worked when opened in Real Player.
    Don't have an answer.

How can I access files from a flash drive that were previously saved using a Windows computer? When I attempt to open the file on MacBook Pro, it is asking to "convert file to"; none of the options I choose work. I also have Microsoft Office (with Word) installed on the Mac as well.

Format the external drive as FAT32 or ExFAT. Both computers will then be able to read and write to it.

A PowerPC Mac, if that's what it is, won't be able to see an Intel Mac's formatted data.  Also ExFat formatting is not supported by 10.6.3 or earlier.  I would try viewing the backup on another Intel Mac with at least 10.6.4.  If it isn't there, then the backup never really took place.  I much profer a hard drive with Carbon Copy Cloner.

  • When I try to open a PDF file the reader flashes on the screen then closes

When I try to open a PDF file the reader flashes on the screen then closes. I have to open the reader, then search for the pdf file through the reader. I'm using Adobe Reader 11.0.5 with windows 7 service pack 1 home premium. Is there any way I can just click on a PDF file and the reader automaticaly opens? I purchased the upgrade so I can convert PDF to Word but it didnt make any difference.

    Some things to try...
    Update Reader to version 11.0.06
Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
Can you open Adobe Reader by itself?  If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
If you cannot open Reader by itself, try to disable Protected Mode in the registry; download, unzip, then run the attached registry script
It could even be a malware issue; see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/reader-core-dll-error.html

  • How do I import music files from a flash drive to my iTunes library on my laptop

How can I import music files from a flash drive to my iTunes library? I put the flash drive into my laptop, selected " add file to library", selected the songs I wanted from the flash drive, and it looked like they were added as the names show under " recently added". Then I removed the flash drive from my laptop But when I select one of the songs and try to play it a message saying "the song could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?"  So it seems the actual files did not transfer. What do I do? I have done this. With a cd in the past with nsomproble,.

    Suncadia wrote:
Thank you!! This worked. It does seem there should be an easier way but this did work.
Dragging the files to "Automatically Add..." is pretty easy once you know where to look.  Just make sure iTunes is running when you do it; otherwise the files will just sit there until the next time you open iTunes.
(Interestingly, the way you originally tried to do would have worked fine except for one little detail:  you have to first go into Edit > Preferences > Advanced, and check the box for "Copy files..."  If that is not done, iTunes will reference the files on the flash drive, which of course are not accessible once the drive is removed, as you saw.)
Anyway, glad that all is now sorted.  Enjoy the music!

My suggestion to use the smart playlist was more along the lines of making one list with rules to show everything in your library as long as it was kind "mpeg" (= mp3).
Smart playlists cannot be edited manually, only by changing the rules.  You can use them as the basis for another smart playlist though.
There is added overhead to using smart playlists, so don't go overboard.

  • How can I read a binary file stream with many data type, as with AcqKnowledge physio binary data file?

I would like to read in and write physiological data files which were saved by BioPacs AcqKnowledge 3.8.1 software, in conjunction with their MP150 acquisition system. To start with, Id like to write a converter from different physiodata file format into the AcqKnowledge binary file format for version 3.5 3.7 (including 3.7.3). It will allow us to read different file format into an analysis package which can only read in file written by AcqKnowledge version 3.5 3.7 (including 3.7.3).
I attempted to write a reader following the Application Note AS156 entitled AcqKnowledge File Format for PC with Windows (see http://biopac.com/AppNotes/ app156Fi
leFormat/FileFormat.htm ). Note the link for the Mac File format is very instructive too - it is presented in a different style and might make sense to some people with C library like look (http://biopac.com/AppNotes/ app155macffmt/macff.htm).
I guess the problem I had was that I could not manage to read all the different byte data stream with File.vi. This is easy in C but I did not get very far in LabView 7.0. Also, I was a little unsure which LabView data types correspond to int, char , short, long, double, byte, RGB and Rect. And, since it is for PC I am also assuming the data to be written as little endian integer, and thus I also used byte swap vi.
Two samples *.acq binary files are attach to this post to the list. Demo.acq is for version 3.7-3.7.2, while SCR_EKGtest1b.acq was recorded and saved with AcqKnowledge 3.8.1, which version number is 41.
I would be grateful if you someone could explain how to handle such binary file stream with LabView and send an example to i
    llustrate it.
Many thanks in advance for your help.

The reading of double is also straight forward : just use a dble float wired to the type cast node, after inverting the string (indian conversion).
    See the attached example.
The measure of skin thickness is based on OCT (optical coherent tomography = interferometry) : an optical fiber system send and received light emitted to/back from the skin at a few centimeter distance. A profile of skin structure is then computed from the optical signal.

    One more step...
    short are U16 integer
    double are double precision float
bool seem to be 2 bytes (= U16)
    char are string (variable length)
rgb are U16 integer, with high order byte = 0
rect should be 4 x U16 (top, left, bottom, right)
