M3u8 Stream Quality compared to f4m on Computer

Hi!
We are trying to optimize our stream so that it will work on mobile devices. Presently, it works very good on a computer, so the f4m stream is working fine with no issues.
http://66.186.176.18/hds-live/livepkgr/_definst_/liveevent/livestream.f4m
However, when users try to play the m3u8 stream, the video is great, but the audio is terrible! Every second there's gibberish that messes up the audio feed.
http://66.186.176.18/hls-live/livepkgr/_definst_/liveevent/livestream.m3u8
Here's the present settings for the stream:
Frame Rate: 25
H.264 Codec - Level 3.0 (for compatibility with early iOs devices) - Keyframe 4 seconds
Video Bitrate: 700 (We tried with 500 and the issue remains)
size: 320 x 240 for both input/output
Audio:
mono
Bitrate: 96
Sample Rate: 44100 Hz
Format: mp3
Can anyone tell us why the audio is so choppy on the ios side and what settings we can change to improve it?

Apple supports following codec for HLS streaming:
     Video: H.264
     Audio: HE-AAC or AAC-LC
So, change audio codec to HE-AAC and check if it helps.

  • H264 rtmp poor video quality compared to VLC play

    Hi!
I have Flash Media Server 4.
    Video is and MP4 wrapped H264 at 2Mbps 720x576.
Playing the video with VLC player or any other player the quality is fine and very good!
Same file streamed from FMS4 (same on 3.5) with rtmp protocol has very poor quality compared to real file quality.
Is there some low level configuration to do on Flash Server?
Is the streaming server making some kind of transcoding before sending the stream?
Or it can be Flash Player? Tried unchecking "hardware acceleration" but nothing changes.
I am on a local gigabit network, so no network bottlenecks.
Video seems very pixelated on the edges (not soft/antialiased).

  • I cannot access my computer library on apple tv .. Although I can stream music .... No pics at all ... It used to My computer has iTunes open I am pretty sure it is on same network as apple tv  My computer will stream music on iTunes from my computer but

    My computer has iTunes open
I am pretty sure it is on same network as apple tv
My computer will stream music on iTunes from my computer but not
show owners library and not any pictures
In apple tv settings - AirPlay is on and so is home sharing
In my computer iTunes - home sharing is on

I get this  problem every day or two when trying to connect my ATV 2 running 5.1.1 to iTunes 11.0.1 on an iMac running OS X 10.8.2 (though it started happening with earlier releases of both ATV software and iTunes. I think it started happening regularly following the installation of the ATV 5.0 software, with I think iTunes 10.6 or thereabouts.) They're connected over WiFi via an Airport Extreme basestation.
The TV simply shows a black screen with:
'Could not connect to "<iTunes library name>"'. 'Make sure the computer is on the same network as your Apple TV , the iTunes version is up to date, and iTunes is running.'
I've found the way to fix this problem when it happens is to restart the Apple TV (Settings>General>Restart). This always seems to correct it and allows me to connect to iTunes successfully once again, but the problem always returns sooner or later and I've not been able to determine what triggers it exactly. It  seems to happen more often if the iMac running iTunes has been put to sleep with iTunes running and subsequently woken, but it also happens sometimes when I wake ATV and try to connect it to a freshly booted iMac and newly launched iTunes.
I keep hoping a new release of ATV software will fix it but neither 5.1 nor 5.1.1  made any noticable difference and neither have newer releases of iTunes.

  • Possible to stream from FMLE to another (desktop)computer?

This is some kind of a challenge: I'm trying to find a
sollution for streaming a video signal from one computer
(preferably with FMLE) and pick up the video stream on another
computer and show the video fullscreen.
So far it seem to me that FMLE is only able to deliver the
video stream to a Flash Media Server. Is this correct?
I'm hoping it is possible to stream the video from FMLE and
"pick up" that single stream from another computer with maybe a
program like VLC (or another application? - I just read that VLC
supports RTMP streams), and show the video fullscreen.
In theory, maybe I can use Flash Media Server for this, if it
is able to show the video it's picking up fullscreen.
Any suggestions or thoughts would be apreciated!
    regards

    carlnes
Windows Media Encoder and Player as a combination can do this "direct pull" from an encoder to a player without a server in the middle.  But in all the years of commercial live streaming I have done in 10 years, Flash Media Encoder can not be operated in the same way.  A Flash Server has to be in the middle.

  • Syncing and streaming 'playing now' on a second computer?

So, I have homesharing setup between two computers in separate rooms IE. linking computer#2 to the Library on Computer#1. What I would like to do is stream what is actually playing on Computer#1 through Computer#2 IE. syncing what is playing so I can walk between rooms and hear the same music...
Is this possible through homesharing? If so, please tell me how? If not, what application can help me do this?? I may not be using the correct terminology in searching forums for this answer, but seems it has not been asked.
    Many thanks in advance!!
    Mel

Yes, it's possible and permitted by the membership agreement. You can activate the software for use on a maximum of two computers at any one time.
On your laptop, point your browser to creative.adobe.com, sign in with your Adobe ID and download the software.
Adobe's activation servers keep count of how many devices you have installed the software on.

  • My new Ipad camera takes poor picture quality compare to my iphone 4g. Is it should be so?

My new Ipad camera takes poor picture quality compare to my iphone 4g. Is it should be so?

    Hi pjl,
Yes I forgot to mention, the iPad does lose the tether when it sleeps, so I turned sleep off permanently which is probably not great for battery life either!
I just don't understand why another iPhone4 can connect to the personal hotspot with absolutely no intervention once it knows the password. That's how it should be on the iPad. They are both running the latest iOS5 so why any difference?

  • TS2972 I am having problems streaming content from iTunes on my computer to the Apple TV.

I cannot stream content from iTunes on my computer to my Apple TV (latest model).
I have checked the following -
    iTunes Version 11.1.5.5
No Windows updates outstanding for the computer
Home Sharing is turned on in both iTunes and the Apple TV
The wireless network appears to be OK
iTunes connects to the Store so the computer is OK
the Apple TV connects to external content - You Tube etc
I have opened up TCP/IP port 3689 and UDP port 5353 in the McAfee Firewall
When I turn on the Apple TV and check the Computer Icon, I get the following message -
"To access your iTunes library on Apple TV, turn on Home Sharing in iTunes on your computer using "..the Apple ID...".
    Where to next?
    Voyager999

Well, after 1 hour of phone support and 90 minutes of on-line support, McAfee finally resolved the problem.
If anyone else has a similar problem, tell McAfee to look at Service Request 1443603280.

  • Trouble streaming .mp4 movies from one iTunes computer to another

I have been unable to stream .mp4 movie files from my computer to another using iTunes. The .mp4 files are sitting on an external usb hard drive. All of the files have been added to iTunes library but not the iTunes folder. I tried changing the .mp4 extensions to .m4v to no success. The files do play in itunes but won't stream between computers. The one computer is running 32bit and the other 64 bit. I also tried placing files into the iTunes music folder and that has also been without success. The only thing I have been able to do is streaming .mp4 files that had to be converted by iTunes so they could be played on an iphone. I have tried streaming with home sharing on and with it off. Does any one have any ideas as to why I can't stream and how I can fix this.

Using Ethernet, I am attempting to stream the movies on my computer to my girlfriends computer through iTunes home sharing. I want to watch the movies that are on one computer on another.

  • DVD Quality: NTSC monitor vs. Computer Monitor/Plasma

I have created a DVD, and I am having an issue with the quality.
When viewed on an NTSC monitor (i.e. my television) everything looks great. When viewed on a computer (various Macs PCs) the custom menu background looks horrible, and the video looks horrible as well.
Everything looks great when putting it together, but when the disc is created the quality suffers.
Since the majority of the people who will view the DVD will be using a computer, does anyone know how to create the DVD so that it looks great for computer users?

    Brian,
I'm sorry that your question got subverted. You are new to the forum, and the forum is usually a place you can come to and get help. Your original question: I have created a DVD, and I am having an issue with the quality. is a good question that has come up, over and over, on the forum since the begining of iDVD.
DVDs, as they stand now, were designed to be viewed on TV sets - not computer monitors with much higher resolution than a TV set. Some day soon (perhaps) we will be able to create and view higher resolution discs using new technology that I'm sure will look great on HD TV sets and computer monitors. Until that time, enjoy looking a the DVDs you make on a TV set or less than full screen on a computer monitor. It will be a great video creation learning experience for you and you will be all ready to go when the new technology arrives.
Keep asking questions on the forum - that's the way we ALL learn.

  • How do I select to simultaneously stream (airtune) and play on my computer?

Hi everyone. So I keep reading that as of last January '06 (6.0.2) iTunes will let you stream to remote speakers and play the same song simultaneously on the computer's speakers. How do I do this?!? I have searched everything and everywhere (these forums, macosxhints, the usenet forums) for over 30 mins now and no one mentions "how" to do it, just that it can be done. That is, once everything is setup, is there a mystery screen that says "click here for both at once"? Am I supposed to right click on anything in particular?
iTunes only lets me select one at a time - on the bottom right of itunes, I have the box that lets me choose my remote speakers ("livingroomstereo") or my computer speakers ("computer"). But again, it only lets me click on one, not both...
I have: iMac G4, iTunes 7.0.2. My airport express is at v6.2 firmware. I use a linksys wrt54g as my base, and the airport express works perfectly as a client.
What is the mystery! I feel that something is missing since no one describe how to select multiple ones at once so that it must be totally obvious. And that leads me to beleive that I am not "missing" it, it just isn't there....
Here is the useless Apple FAQ:
Can my AirTunes stream play through my computer's speakers at the same time?
Answer: Yes. With iTunes 6.0.2 or later, you can play through both the computer speakers and multiple remote AirPort Express units, provided that each AirPort Express has the latest AirPort firmware (available here). The maximum number of remote AirPort Express units is three to six in typical conditions. The number that works for you will depend on your environmental conditions (such as building composition and local radio interference), distance to the remote AirPort Express units, and available network capacity relative to your other usage.
I hate things that tell you that you can do a particular thing, but then dont tell you how to, or at least don't tell you how to find out how to do it...
    Thanks!!!

    Ah man. thank you.
I hope Apple fixes the indirect problem with their FAQ. On their faq (that I excerpted below) they provide a link to check and DL the newest software and firmware. I went through their "check" and gave me the thumbs up...
Thank you for pointing out the problem..

  • What are the settings to for best quality video for playback on computer?

I'm not having any software or hardware issues.   I have tried differnent combinations using AVI, MPEG and WMV and I'm still not satisfied with the quality.
I have used the same settings as my original video and it still is no where near the quality.  Maybe this is as good as it gets, any help would be appreciated.
    quick rundown
I'm using the recorder on my computer to record my screen and voice to create video tutorials for my students to watch on-line.  This creates a 720x480 AVI file and has good quality.

What is the best preset to use for HD-lite?
The best is one that matches the Source Footage 100%. Unfortunately, with that variation on HD, I do not think that PrE, even PrE 10, will be able to come close. PrPro, however, does have the ability to do Custom Sequences (think a bunch of mini-Projects inside of a Project), and one can match odd Frame Sizes, FPS, etc.. I was hoping that PrE 10 would have Custom Presets, but it did not show up. This limits PrE to standard Frame Sizes, which is not what most video screen capture programs offer. Your footage does not match to any real HD-Lite Frame Sizes, so you will still have the same problem.
It does appear that your program, while different than the TechSmith Camtasia, does use the TSCC CODEC. This will give you a bit more info. Also, though you do not have Camtasia, or CamStudio, I think that the article, that I linked to above, might be of use.
Now, what options does your video capture program offer for output?
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Quality of dvd on a computer monitor

Is there any way to use idvd to author a dvd that will look good played on a computer monitor? All other projects I have done look pretty good on the TV but when I put my disk into computer to play with the dvd player it looks really bad.Can anyone explain why? The reason I ask is because I am videotaping a wedding for some friends, will be editing in FC express, then authoring dvd in idvd. This couple does not own a TV (they watch movies on a wide screen computer monitor) and want to watch the wedding video the same way. Any suggestions?
    macpro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   2.66 ghz dual-core Intel, 2gb ram

You can use iDVD6 to create a DVD from FCE but eventually you will need to compress into mpeg 2. (unfortunately all compression involves some loss of quality).

  • Shared Photo Streams without keeping files in my computer

    Hello,
I've been taking pictures for about 8 years, and I'm now looking for ways to store them online. I'm talking about over 150GB of pictures, which would be impossible to fit on the internal 128GB SSD. Therefore, is there any way I could create shared photo streams without having to actually store the files on my computer permanently?
    Thank you!

Shared Photo Streams need to be  tied to one iPhoto Library. You could use an external drive to store your iPhoto Library and connect this drive only, when you want to add to your Photo Streams. You could share the PhotoStreams to yourself, then publish them to a Website, where only you know the URL. You can view the website, even with the drive with the library disconnected.

My apple tv works, but doesn't stream my photos.  It also doesn't recognize my computer.  Any thoughts on solving these issues?

    Hello MTTexas,
Try to reboot Apple TV, reboot router, reboot computer, also reset your device if you have one. Guide to reset device: (nothing will be lost): Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Then, after that go online to: speedtest (You must be online for this to work on YOUR WIFI) Click "begin test" and it will test download and upload speed of your WIFI. A modern home can vary; an average WIFI speed is download 1-20 Mbps, upload .5-15Mbps. If it is in that range then you should be fine.
    Take care,

  • Netflix Streaming quality degraded over last few months in Plano, Tx?

The last couple of months I've been getting horrible connections in Netflix streaming to my Xbox360. Prior to that I would always get a 5 bar connection, but over the past couple of months I've been luck to get 3 bars. Many times the stream will stutter out and not be able to continue playing, causing a reconnection and really interrupting the viewing. I haven't changed anything in my setup and I have my Xbox360 hard wired to my router, so I have no idea what could be going wrong. I have the 25/15 service, but all the speed tests I've done have not gotten any higher than 14/14, and often are more like 8/10. Is there anything going on with Verizon's connections in TX?

To summarize Verizon's statement: paying Verizon customers are demanding lots of data from Cogent (i.e. streaming lots of Netflix movies). This is requiring Cogent to pump a large volume of traffic to Verizon's network because paying Verizon customers are requesting it.
In turn Verizon is now demanding more cash from Cogent because Verizon paying customers are requesting that traffic. The end result is Verizon looking to make more cash off of their own customers' activities and/or using it as an excuse to quietly degrade the Netflix experience (but hey, they conveinently have their own Redbox Instant streaming service that I'm sure they would love you to subscribe to. It probably doesn't suffer from this problem either).
    In reality, Verizon should:
    1) Realize that this is on them and they are not providing the quality level of service that their customers are paying for.
    2) Join Netflix's (free) Open Connect. This would both significantly reduce the congestion AND provide even higher quality Netflix service. (Hint: Your paying customers would love you if you did this, Verizon)
