M4 AQUA Restarting itself and shutting itself down.

I just got the phone on July 6. Within 2 hours of starting it up at the store it had restarted itself. In 72 hours the phone had 58 System Incidents. Went back to the store had the hardware & sim card replaced. Now the new device is doing the samne thing, but worse! Since July 11 till now I have had 99 System Incidents!!! What is the problem?? I tried doing all the resets and PCC, unloading apps & their updates... Still resets every 20mins or less... Sometime it just completly shuts down! 2 Brand new out of the box devices faultly? Or is it a hardware issue.. I called sony support, they claim (as well as my service provider Virgin Mobile) that I am the first person in North America to be having these problems with their new phone!! The chances I got the only 2 defective ones in a row. I think the odds are to small... Can anyone enlighten my situation or offer suggestions?? I waited 4 years to get a new phone... Maybe I should have waited longer

Hi, When I got the m4 I had a new nano sim came with it.The sd card was the one that had been in use on my old phone - perhaps I should start off with a new sd card.On some occasions I have noticed that the phone was hot, but mostly I have not noticed, although many times I put the phone down and when I pick it up find that it is off.Since my last post I reinstalled my apps and set up the phones screens how I want them again. Initially I turned off stamina mode to see if that helped but I found it had turned off again after a few hours. I have now switched stamina mode back on.What seems strange to me is that sometimes upon resetting via the hole next to the sd card the record of the system incidents remains other times it starts again from zero.I do hope Sony comes up with a solution as it seems to be a quite widespread problem ( I have since posting read through the other threads) and I would be very happy with the phone if it were not for this issue. As it is, it is pretty well useless for recieving calls because unless you checked it every few minutes to ensure that it had not turned itself off you might miss an important call.I do hope it can be sorted.

HP Pavilion dv7-3165dx heats up and shut's down

My HP Pavilion dv7-3165dx heats up and shut's down/ locks up, It does seem Hot so I'm assuming it's due to heat, or heat related. The Vent's are not blocked and no dust.. This could happen within the first 5 minutes of powering up. I swapped out the hard drive just to be sure it wasn't the Hard drive. any suggestion's or idea's with this brief explanation...

Firefox 3.6.10 doesn't shut down. Keeps running using 100% of my CPU so I can't play a game. etc., unless I use TUT to find it and shut it down.

After I shut Firefox down, when I try to re-open it (in the same session) I get message "Firefox is already running but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process or restart the system." So I would restart the computer, and it was ok until I shut down again. Finally I used TUT to see what was running in my programs and found that Firefox WAS still running, even though no obvious pages were open on toolbar, etc. Now I use TUT to shut it down instead of restarting, but it's still a nuisance. Should I reinstall Firefox?

From the way you are describing it, it sounds like the HD has failed. Please look over Gray screen appears during startup for troubleshooting steps. You can also run Apple Hardware Test in Extended Mode, it may take 2-3 passes for any error codes to appear and each pass takes approximately 30-60 minutes. However either way you should plan on taking it into an Apple Store or AASP for service.

If your Mac is off then start up. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the Option key until the Mac and Windows Disks show up. Then click on the Mac disk and the arrow below it. After it boots up in Mac then go to System Preferences>Startup Disk and select your Mac partition as the Startup disk.
If you are in Windows then look for the Boot Camp icon on the taskbar. It will look like a gray box sitting on one corner. One of the options when you click it is to restart in Mac OS. FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. If you did not do step 4 properly, start all over again.

Running Mavericks, I was trying to get messages to run ICQ and apparently I changed a setting that now causes me to get an error message and shuts messages down.

I am running Mavericks.
I was trying to get "Messages" to play nice with ICQ. it was sending HTML format to the receiver on the other end.
I saw online how to change the item typed to show up as plain text on the for the recipient.
Unwisely, I didn't follow ALL the instructions (where it told me to make a copy on my desktop "in case" and I changed one of the settings incorrectly.
Now when I try to start Messages up, it opens briefly, then says it encountered an error and needs to shut down.
I can remove Messages, but before I do, I can't seem to find a place to re-download it.
Any suggestions on the best way of handling this?

Once you get to Lion (OS X 10.7) and higher the only way is to Restore the whole OS as several Apple App are included this way and are not available separately.
It should be just the .plists that are involved.
The com.apple.imagent.plist holds the account info as it provides a "listening" function on all logins before your start up the app.
I would delete this one as well.
If that does not work repeat the process and delete com.apple.ichat.plist itself.

Computer restarts when I shut it down

Hi everyone,
I don't know if anyone else has this, but once in a while, when I shutdown the computer, it actually restarts.... First I thought it was my error, selection reboot instead of restard, but.... I closely looked at what I was doing and it restarted. My brother has the exact same iMac, with the exact same configurations and his does it too.
I upgraded to 10.7.2, and repaired my priveleges just to make sur and still....the same thing.
Can anyone provide a fix for this?

kpott, while I can't offer a solution (yet, still researching), I can confirm the issue -- ever since I upgraded my mid-2010 Mac Pro to Lion, it too will restart instead of shutdown every once in a while. I have not been able to establish a pattern for when/why it happens, nor can I reproduce it reliably. Here are my observations so far:
This machine had various versions of Snow Leopard (10.6.x) installed, this issue never occured before installing OS X 10.7.x
The issue only occurs on this computer not on any of the other various Macs in my office/household
The issue occurs (randomly) regardless of whether I choose "Shut Down..." from the Apple menu or whether I use the keyboard shortcut "Ctrl-Eject", and click in "Shut down" or use the keyboard to select the same option
The issue first occured after upgrading the machine to 10.7 from 10.6.8. Thinking the upgrade process got mangled I did a "virgin" install but the problem remained.
I exchanged the hard drive for a newly purchased SSD and did another "virgin" install, still the issue reoccured.
I reset the SMC several times, cleared PRAM, verified the boot volume, created new users, repaired permissions etc., etc. -- nothing helps (so far)
This is one pesky bug...

Well, that is interesting. The phoine did overheat and refused to respond. Got my new one and it appears to be fine. I have not upgraded to the latest firmware. I plan to do that tonight and hope the overheating phone was simply a fluke....

Ipod nano creates an error when connected and shuts itunes down

When I connect my ipod to the pc using the USB lead it opens itunes up, shows it is connected and then creates an error which then closes down itunes. I have tried the reset and re install etc but the same thing happens. My brothers ipod which is the same has no problems. Can any one help please.

Same thing happens to my daughter's. I've actually sent the iPod back to Apple for diagnosis - all good. I've uninstalled and reinstalled drivers - all good.
Someone please help !!!!

ITunes keeps restarting after I shut it down

I've had this problem on two different computers with two versions of Windows (XP and Vista). But it seems that since I've installed iTunes 10 (or even iTunes 9, when this problem started), almost immediately after quitting iTunes, it starts up again. I have to quit iTunes (and deal with it re-starting) at least 5 times before it finally quits for good. Obviously, it's frustrating enough that I'm braving the waters of the Apple Support Community.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can stop this from happening? It's really annoying, and the only question I've seen like it relates to MacOS, so that's no help to me.

Then use free Ccleaner to repeatly repair your registry until it's fixed.

download iTunes again from Apple.

If you have 64bit Vista or Windows 7, look for the seperate download of iTunes for that further down the page.
Once installed, use the Apple Software Update under your Start Menu to fully update all Apple components.
Your content will remain on the drive in the Music > iTunes Folder, nothing is deleted.
You should be making backups of your content regularly, either through iTunes or via copying the iTunesFolder in your Music folder to a external drive.
Windows is notorious for having "other" issues that make it unstable, we as volunteers helping others can't always resolve those issues.
After doing the steps above, stand by and others may be able to assist you.

You could also try deleting all books from the apply connecting it to your computer's iTunes - either change your sync options or use the Books tab under the 'on my device'' heading to select and remove them. If you haven't already got copies of all the books on your computer's iTunes then first do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases to copy them over (you might be able to redownload ibook purchases, but any item could be removed from the store at any time), and if using a Mac with Mavericks or Yosemite on it then do File > Move Books From iTunes in its iBooks app.
If the app then opens with no books in it then try syncing them back
