.m4a Audio files clipped at last second or two.

Whenever I import .m4a files into Premiere Pro CS3, which otherwise play fine anywhere else, the last second or so is cut off. If I convert the song to .WAV BEFORE importing, all is well. The PrProCS3 user guide does not explicitly indicate .m4a file type as supported. Is this the reason? Any thoughts or knowledge?
I'm using Windows Vista 32-bit.

The IDEA of Premiere editing any type of compressed file (be it video or audio) has been discussed, literaly, hundreds of times here
The bottom line is that the actual FACT of editing this type of file, in spite of what Adobe says in their marketing materials, is that some people have success... and other people do NOT
Some of this is attributed to whatever else (ie-codecs) is installed on the computer... and in what order (each time a codec is installed it puts an entry into the Registry to say that IT is "most important" and should be "seen first" in the list of codecs) and that can cause problems for Premiere, even with files that "should" work
So... as you have found... convert to WAV

  • How do I repair a broken M4A audio file?

I used the program Audio hijack Pro to capture some audio of a Skype conversation. But in the middle of the conversation AHP crashed, and I'm left with an incomplete and corrupt m4a audio file. It is 6,7MB big, which indicates to me that the audio is still there, but not accessible. No program I tried can open the file or repair it.
I tried vlc, quicktime, soundtrack pro, windows media player, fission, audacity and some smaller tools like BeSliced...
Please help, I don't want to loose 30 minutes of speech recording!

If your presentation is such that you want to recover it rather than reconstruct it, you could consult the Apple documentation on the Keynote document structure. That said, I have never had much luck directly editing the XML file, and I have grave doubts about the efficiency of such an endeavour. If you do go about it, I would first try deleting all but one slide from the XML file, and see if you can get the presentation to open at all, then build up the file from there. (Obviously you should first make a copy of the presentation and keep that separate before editing the XML files.)

  • Export .m4a Audio File with Cover Art?

Hi, I recently upgraded to GarageBand 10.0.1 after purchasing a new MBP and have been mostly successful in finding all of the changes in the app, except this one.  I use GB to create an audio podcast weekly, and in previous versions, I had the ability to export an audio file with the iTunes cover art already attached to it.  I cannot find this feature in GB 10.0.1.  Am I missing something?  Thx for your time and any help given.

That is disappointing. Usually Apple is better about taking away steps to creating things, not adding to the number of steps required to create things.
GarageBand has been released a bit early. I am hoping, there is more to come. Otherwise, the installer would not have left the old version installed. It is a clear sign, that Apple knows, that some important features are still missing in GB 10.0. For the time being, I am starting the projects in GB '11, and add the finishing touches - drummer, arpeggiator in GarageBand 10.0.

  • How to prevent an audio file to play the second time the users enter the screen?

    Hi there
I have a request from my client. She wants the audio file I have on one slide not to play again when the users return to that screen. Is it possible to do that using conditions? I searched the forums but couldn't find anything like this.
    I am using Captivate 5.5.
    Thank you in advance.

I explained that both in workshops for advanced actions and in a presentation (Lectora vs Captivate) at DevLearn. In this blog post an example, with short explanation can be found:
    http://lilybiri.posterous.com/playtime-with-audio-and-widgets
The idea is to link the audio not to the slide but to an 'invisible' object (I even have a Highlight box style for that). When entering the slide the first time you show the object and audio will play, when entering afterwards it will be hidden again. This implies the use of a user variable to track the first visit, and a conditional action. If you need more info, just ask for it.
In CP6 another approach would be possible, using the new statements Play audio and Stop Triggered Audio.

  • Muxing a .mov video and .m4a audio

I used the screen recording tool in 10.7 (Quicktime), to record a Citrix GoToMeeting. The resulting file a 1080p (recorded on a 17' MBP). I also used Rogue Amoeba's 'Piezo' software to record audio coming in via Skype; exported file is an .m4a audio file.
Simple question - How can I mux the .mov and .m4a file with Compressor?
Also, the audio is a tad bit off, with the video being about 2.5 seconds ahead of the video. What can I do in FCP X to adjust this?

I suppose you could create a job, select surround sound and designate your file as one or more channels – then add the vieo file. You could also turn your video into an m2v elementary strea and your audio into an Ac3, make sure the file names were identcal up to the extension and mux those in MPEG Streamclip.
But if I understand your objective correctly, the better approach would be to bypass Compressor and import the files into FCP X. Adjust the position the audio and video clips until they sync properly and then export to the format you need.
    Good luck.

  • MP3 audio files in iBooks EPUB3

    hi !
Can I use .mp3 audio files with muy EPUB3 for iBooks, or is it mandatory to convert everything to .m4a audio files?
If MP3 are allowed, which media type may be used in the OPF declaration?
    Thanks a lot!

Assuming you have legal rights to use these tracks on the web, a single player that supports playlists would be the cleanest solution.
Pickle Player supports MP3 files in all web devices (including smartphones):

Flash MP3 Players (NOT supported by all web devices)

  • Last second of audio clip is silent.

I have been getting this bug recently and its really starting to annoy me.
Almost daily I have to work on 30 second spots on AE and when I get sent an audio scratch track that is 30 seconds long I import it and when I play it back it plays fine until the last second where it just mutes. If I play this same file in any other program it plays fine. Im on CS5 on Mac OS X 10.6.3. The same file has no issue on a PC CS5 and we have no other Mac CS5 to test with. The files are created in Avid Media Composer then saved as a wav and sent to me. Even if I convert it it gives me problems.

It happens if I ram preview, or audio only preview, and even when I render out the file. If I look at the waveform its also gone. A curious thing is that when I get a full mix from out audio post house, the audio works fine, even though both files are 16 bit 48k. Im not sure what you mean by what are my preview setting set to. Also, I have an AJA Kona 3 card in my system and almost anything I import says AJA Importer in the "Type" column in my Project window, including these WAVs or AIFFs.

  • Slideshow, how to make clip the same length as audio file?

    Hi
I've got several PowerPoint presentations and need to make an MP4 video file for each of them. I know how to export the slides as still images, and I also have the audio files broken up into individual mp3 files that match each slide.
I'm trying to figure out the most efficient way of getting the slides and audio files synced in Premiere Elements.
Yesterday I imported all of the png images and mp3 audio files into my project. But I had to individually add each image, followed by the mp3, and then in the timeline manually stretch the image to make it last the same length of time as the audio file. It was rather tedious and I have a lot of presentations with many slides to work with. I'm sure there must be some better way to make all of this happen, right?
Can anyone help me out here?
    1. Is there a way to make the image clip match the time of the audio clip?
    2. Is there a way to import all of the audio and image files at once (given they have the same names) and have PE automatically associate the image clip with the audio file?
    Thanks, Derek

    1. You can place the audio file in the Audio 1 track of the timeline first (Timeline, not sceneline)
    2. Next drop the image to where the audio file starts. Now press "\" key
    3. Drag the end of the clip to exactly where the audio ends. Whe you are near the end of the audio with the drag it should simply stick to it.
    4. Group the audio and image file together (Right click and select group after selecting both these together)
    5. Select the clip and do a right click and use the Fade-In and out option. You can fade in the video and let the audio simply continue. This makes it look and sound good.
    6. Place the next audio file and go on doing the same till all of them are done. The grouping step is not needed but when you keep working with PRE, you might just thank me for it!
I tried all these steps just as I was typing this post, so I can tell you for sure that PrE10 works as if it is designed JUST for this use case. So hoping you get to complete the project on time and with good quality!

  • .m4a (aac) audio files don't appear in podcast/iTunes

    My blog is at http://jumplive.blogspot.com
    [ I'm using Feedburner.com, with Smartcast enabled ]
My audio files are (native) .wma. I used Windows iTunes to convert them to .wav & .m4a (aac).
The audio files ".wav" are showing up in iTunes/podcast. However, the .aac (with extension .m4a..it's MPEG4, right?) are not showing up. ?? (I'm storing the audio files on blip.tv servers)
[ Is there anyway of getting the (native) .wma files to show up? The .aac & .wav files are considerably larger than the (native) .wma files, which is bad. For example, a 17mb A.wma file converts to a 34mb A.aac & 64mb A.wav . Am I doing something wrong in the Conversion settings under Preferences? ]

Your feedburner feed doesn't contain any M4A files that I can see. That would be one reason they don't show up.

Okay, first, are they .aac or .m4a files? iTunes will get *.m4a files, but not *.aac files.
Secondly, size is all about bitrate. If you use a higher bitrate, you get bigger files. WMA tends to default to a 64kbps bitrate, which usually sounds like utter crap. M4A (AAC) generally defaults to 128kbps. So with default settings, it'll be twice the size.
However, you say you're converting from WMA to M4A and WAV? That's a bad, bad idea. You should be converting from the original recording (in WAV format) to MP3 and M4A. MP3 is more widely supported for podcasting, and M4A is supported by iTunes and sounds better than MP3. Nobody uses WMA for podcasting. WMA sounds terrible.

  • Adding one audio file to multplie movie clips

    Hi all
I have two movie clips in my project and I was successful on adding music to one clip. Now how can I make this same audio file last the duration of both movie clips? I want to add the single audio to both. Thanks, web dude

Place another copy at the end of the first.

  • Last second of audio?

I have a 30 second spot I'm editing for and finally cut it down to the very frame. It is 30 seconds perfect, unfortunately, when watching the rendered file my last second is clipped off. Is this a export setting? I've exhaustively searched the internet, but with no luck.
Any and all help would be appreciated.

    Great news!
I do agree with Jeff. If you can state the player, that exhibited this behavior, that might help others, who find this thread, and will also arm many of us with something else to mention, should we encounter such an issue, here or elsewhere.
    Thanks, and good luck,

  • Loading off DVD's audio file of last project Plays

I load files off DVD from my church recorder, 1 st project goes great !! Next project off next DVD won't accept new audio plays audio form last closed project    Need Ideas Please!!!!!!!!!!

When new audio material is imported into Premiere it converts the audio to 32bit and saves the new audio file in the Media cache. This new file is then used when editing. What I expect is happening in your case is that the 2nd dvd has the same file names as the first, Premiere thinks the audio is the same so does not redo the conversion to 32bit. To get round this problem delete all the .pek and .cfa files in your Media Cache Files folder. You can find the location of this file by looking under Edit-Preferences-Media in Premiere. I'm on a PC but there will be something similar for a Mac. When you then import your second dvd the audio should be reconformed.

  • How can I make an mp audio file of a video clip that I'm working on in iMovie?

I have a video clip residing within an iMovie project.  I want to create an audio file of this to take into Audacity so I can make cleaner audio edits (pulling up audio, deleting extraneous audio, etc) to insert as voice over in my movie project.  iMovie is not sophisticated enough to do this.  I don't see an easy way to "export as MP3" or other audio file.  Am I missing something?  Thank you.

  • How can I convert the download.m4a and Info.plist into the right audio file

The topic is actually the problem that I have.
I have bought music and it was downloaded successful (all of it) but iTunes had a strange freeze while converting the files into the right audio file. Some files were converted but after the freeze no more.
I'm now left with these .tmp folders in the downloads folder which have the download.m4a and Info.plist files.
My iTunes is able to play these download.m4a files, but they show no information and covers and this is really annoying. I could write and change it all by myself, but than I would still miss some information (and covers).
Is there any way for me to convert or combine these files?
Note: I'm not able to restart any downloads, because they were successful.

    Hello ed2345,
Thanks for the help, but this is not the problem.
It's hard to describe the problem, but I'll try it again, this time with pictures.
I was left with the following folders in the iTunes Downloads folder.
    http://www.picfront.org/d/7yb3
These TMP Folders have a download.m4a and a Info.plist file.
After moving the audio files in iTunes a bit I get this.
    http://www.picfront.org/d/7yb2
As you can see no other Information for the download.m4a than the length.
That's how the .m4p file looks like
    http://www.picfront.org/d/7yb1
And this is how the same .m4a file currently looks
    http://www.picfront.org/d/7yb0
Like I said, I could edit all these download.m4a files by myself but that would leave some information out.
Note: Sorry, I hope the links do not spam you with annoying ads. I don't get any but I was told that there can be some annoying one.
