A black dot means it could potentially happen, and a clear dot means it definitely won't. I'm pretty sure that this is correct, but somebody might like to check it. I picked mode 8 because by default it works on the current wave, but doesn't allow execution relative to the cursor - a combination that's not explicitly available. And yes, some of these combinations are clearly silly.
And this is the only copy anywhere public of this information - despite the fact that it's not too difficult to work it out, and it's clearly quite useful, Adobe have never seen fit to reveal it.

  • To save storage space, how do I remove unused audio files from iMovie on my iPhone.

I'm using iMovie on my iPhone 4S and I'm unable to export my movie due to space restrictions.  So I went to clear out some memory space but still it wasn't enough.  Then I noticed there are about 20 audio files that I don't need in the movie.  But there doesn't seem to be a way to delete the files.  Am I wrong?  Can I get them off the iPhone to free up more space?
Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Audio files in imovie hd?

In the older versions of imovie, I was able to save audio only files as Quicktime or .wav files. The new imovie HD says I cannot do that and HAVE to have some video before it will allow me to "share" a file. I need a way to edit songs (fade outs before the song is over) for Powerpoint presentations. Is there a work around for this? Can anyone PLEASE help me?

Kathy -- did you ever figure out the "easy" way to do this? I am having the exact same problem you are. ANd the weird thing is, I was just today at an Apple Store where they demonstrated in front of my eyes how to do this -- import a couple songs into iMovie, do whatever fading/cutting I wanted, then File>Share to Quicktime, and save as an AIFF. No messages about needing video or "protected audio". So now I'm at home trying it, and it doesn't work -- I get the same message you did. Any suggestions? I really want to know the real solution rather than a cumbersome workaround...

  • Shuffle won't play .m4p audio file

On my shuffle all but 2 songs are ripped from Cds
The only two songs in the .m4p format won’t play on my iPod
Restored and up dated the iPod a couple dozen times and tried to reformat the tracks but I’m at a loss and need some help.
    If it help they're "Protected"

    I just solved the issue.
Even though my computer was already authorized, I re-authorized it and now I can transfer purchased music to my Shuffle.
Can you currently play the purchased music in iTunes? I just tried to play one of my purchased songs and, sure enough, it wasn't authorized. I logged into my account and voila! However, it now says I have authorized 2 out of my 5 authorizations, even though this is my only computer...

  • IMovie 08 - Problems referencing audio files.

I have just finished creating a new movie in iMovie 08. The problem I am having is iMovie can't find the audio files I used as a soundtrack for the movie. These audio files are located in my iTunes library. The catch is that all of the music in my iTunes library is stored on another computer, so all of the music files are referenced.
The problem began when I had to turn off the other computer for updates, while I still had iMovie open. Mistakenly I forgot to eject the other computer as it was connected as a server to my Mac. Of course iMovie can no longer find the audio files because they are offline.
Well, when I turned the other computer back on and remounted it as a server, iMovie would no longer play the audio files in my movie. I can still access them through the music tab in iMovie, and they play perfectly.
I have even restarted iMovie and my Mac multiple times.
I really don't want to have to redo all of the music for my movie. If anyone can tell me how to "re-reference" audio files in iMovie, I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks!

Try post on the iMovie forum is my best advice.

  • IMovie Audio Files Won't Play when the File is Moved

I imported a lot of audio files into iMovie from my desktop and I set them out how I wanted them in my project. But as my desktop was getting too cluttered, I had to move the audio files into a different folder in my documents, but now the audio files won't play and a warning icon is on each audio clip. Is there a simple way to relocate the files, without moving the files back to my desktop and without having to set out my all my audio files all over again?

Besides the two files you mentioned in your post, you also need to upload YOUR .swf as well. Then you need to upload your music file/folder.
Also double check that the path to your mp3 is correct RELATIVE to the location of the Web page that you placed the .swf on, NOT the physical location of the .swf.
    var req:URLRequest = new URLRequest("../Sound/dreamsSound1.mp3");
This needs to be the path from the WEB PAGE to the mp3, NOT the path from the physical location of the .swf.
Once you have the pathing correct, it should NOT work when testing in Flash CS4, because the path to the mp3 needs to be RELATIVE to the Web page.
    Best wishes and Good Luck!

  • Separate audio tracks in iMovie?

I recorded my movie with separate voice and background audio tracks. When I import it into iMovie, it's just a single audio file. Is there any way to separate the audio files within iMovie?

    Hi
How do You record ? With what Camera ?
    • 2 Stereo tracks - one with background one with voice ?
    • 2 x 2 Stereo -
    • 5:1 audio
    • 7:1 audio
iMovie can use ONE Stereo Audio track.
To get audio OK I use
    • Audacity (free from Internet) or
    • GarageBand - where I can also do Audio works
BTW - to get full freedom - Use FinalCut Pro

  • How can I make an mp audio file of a video clip that I'm working on in iMovie?

I have a video clip residing within an iMovie project.  I want to create an audio file of this to take into Audacity so I can make cleaner audio edits (pulling up audio, deleting extraneous audio, etc) to insert as voice over in my movie project.  iMovie is not sophisticated enough to do this.  I don't see an easy way to "export as MP3" or other audio file.  Am I missing something?  Thank you.

    Free option - Soundflower (http://cycling74.com/products/soundflower/)
Non-free option - Piezo (available from the AppStore)

  • How can I create a file in iMovie with a lengthy audio file, but only 1 picture?

Let me state first off that I'm a blind user using the Voiceover screen-reader in OS X.
Now, I want to upload some audio to Youtube, but they do not allow simple MP3 files. As such, I want to create a file in iMovie with my audio and 1 picture to use as a visual. Within iMovie, I add my audio file, select a picture, but when I publish, the audio is cut off after only a few seconds. Can someone please explain how I can fix this issue so my entire audio clip will play?

iMovie is a visual medium, so you need to make the duration of your photo at least as long as your voiceover track. You should be able to double click on your photo and then enter a duration.
See iMovie Help at this link.

An MP3 file may work for you, but for best results, use a WAV or AIFF file (uncompressed). You can convert MP3 to AIFF in iTunes. Let me know if you need instructions.

  • Audio files and voice recordings have no sound in iMovie after a while, help?

I was editing and I was putting audio files and recording my voice fine then all of a sudden, audio files and voice recordings I were adding had no sound. The ones already put on had sound but when I tried to drag more audio files or record my voice, nothing. No sound. I tried restarting my Mac, didn't work. I changed the MP3 name to AIFF, didn't work. I'm using iMovie '11.

Hi PK - welcome to the forum!
Increasingly, people with digital still cameras want to import their short movie clips created with that camera. BUT the catch is that these movies are NOT in .dv format. They are MPEGs, and if they are MPEG1 or MPEG2 then they must be converted to DV before they will import into iMovie with the audio able to play.
This conversion usually can be done with a free app. called MPEG StreamClip, but may also need another piece of software called the Apple MPEG2 Playback Component (which costs about $20)..
A search in this forum for those, will give you several threads on the issue!
Look here, for example, for more about the method required:
    http://www.sjoki.uta.fi/%7Eshmhav/SVCDon_a_Macintosh.html#edit_convertMPEG
NOTE that iMovie was designed for DV use (a high-quality editing format), not the much lower quality MPEG footage.

  • Audio files are missing in iMovie HD 6

I have 10.5 installed and was using iMovie 08. I was having problems exporting a movie, some of the clips were all black. So I downloaded iMovie 06 and all the iLife audio files are missing.
They're still there in '08 but not '06. How do I get them in? Is there a way to import them?

I have never used Screenium nor do I know anything about it, but iMovie 6 prefers footage in .dv format. You may have more success if you use Streamclip to convert the .mov to .dv before importing it into iMovie 6

  • Missing Audio / Sound in imovie with .AVI files when imported from iphoto

fortunately i don't need this answered, eventually figured it out my self, just thought it would be helpful to share the solution to this problem as I'm sure others have experienced it. The problem makes more sense when explained chronologically.
My wife has a Casio digital camera, and had recorded many Movies on it, they all sat in iPhoto all worked fine until i upgraded to Quicktime 7.5, then the audio disappeared. i tried in vain to fix (reinstalled QT 7.5, removed plugins, reinstalled etc.), but to no avail, so i left it - this was all under Tiger, i decided I'd upgrade to Leopard and see if the problem went away.
Before upgrading to Leopard i got iLife 08, when i first launched iMovie08 it pulled in all the movies from iPhoto, but they too had no sound.
Then i upgraded to Leopard, now the quicktime missing audio issue got fixed, so i could hear the audio again when launching quicktime via iPhoto (turns out the issue was with how quicktime was handling adaptive PCM audio stream) - i expected all would be fine in iMovie... but it wasnt.
after much experimentation i realised that i had to force iMovie to re-import all the video from iPhoto, this fixed the issue, but with no obvious way to do this, this is what i did:
    - opened finder, navigated to iphoto library, right click and chose 'show package contents'
    - navigated to the data folder and did a search on this folder only for all movie files (when imovie had originally converted iPhoto movie files into thumbnails it dropped all the thumb size movie files in this folder)
    - deleted all the movie files from the Data folder, making sure not to delete the movie files in any other folders & emptied trash
    - launched imovie, now all the iphoto movies were missing.
    - re-launch iPhoto, whilst holding down shift, option + command keys
    - checked 'rebuild the iphoto library database' only, once done, closed iphoto
    - re-launched imovie, this forced it to re-import all the movies from iphoto
... and then the sound was back.
    FYI
    this worked when using...
    OS 10.5.4
    QT 7.5
    iMovie 7.1.4
    iPhoto 7.1.4

    Hi MGW,
I do not no how things are handled when using HDV and technical documentation is hard to find on this topic of how photo are handled using HDV but in iMovie and most non HDV video editing software the picture is always 72ppi regardless of what is was/is on the outside and the images that appear the worst are the ones with less.
On a side note I don't use iPhoto because of all the superfluous files and thumbnails it creates and it disorganises my photos according to criteria that is completely irrelevant to me. I have had these thumbnails pop up in the browser in the past primarily with any photos that existed in the library prior to any updates. With what I have been working on as of late can understand how and why this could happen.
If you scroll through the media browser dose it appear that the library you are working with duplicates itself somewhere along the line or do you see double images side by side?
What are you machine specs and please include you screen/display size and graphics card information as this is the most relevant information at this point with what you are doing.

  • IMovie crashes when I try to add audio file

Things used to work fine, but now iMovie "quits unexpectedly" when I start to drag an audio file from the list on the right pane. Any thoughts on how to remedy this?

I managed to reinstall iTunes and my problem was resolved.

  • I'm trying to import .amr or QuickTime audio files into an imovie 11 project

My only option under Edit>import is movie, so, when I choose "movie" and locate the file on my desktop, it is not available (grayed out). How can I convert the original file [downloaded from my cell phone (.amr)] to to some form that I can use in imovie?

    gwenfromknoxville,
I have a solution for you.  I had the same problem this morning and got creative.  Here's what I did:
    Fast iTunes Pre-prep preferences check:
Preferences > Import Settings > Import UsingSelect "MP3 Encoder"
    Converting .amr file
Open .amr file with regular QuickTime (or Pro version if you have it)
In QuickTime save as "movie format" to your desktop
Drag that new file into your iTunes
Locate file and right click it
    Select "Convert to MP3"
That will give you an MP3 audio file to use in iMovie or iTunes.

  • IMovie '09 doesn't see any audio files or still photos.

I just migrated my G5 iMac to a new iMac. I now have iMovie HD '06 on the new iMac and it works just fine. The problem is iMovie '09 and iPhoto. Neither application can see the audio files to add background music, sound effects, etc. Also, iMovie can not see iPhoto photos. iMovie can see the iPhoto videos. I can add movie clips to iMovie, so that seems to work.

You could have a bad install. There's a thread/threads around here talking about the viewer being all white due to a bad install of the program or a corrupt user. I've also heard it manifest with a black screen instead of white.
Quickest thing to check. Create a new user account. Log in there, and open Motion. If Motion opens fine, then you have a problem with your normal user account.
