M4p's from iTunes Store sound badly on my iPod Nano

I bought the album Calaisa (m4p) from iTunes Store and listened to it on my iPod Nano 3G. I got a bit confused, because I thought the sound was really bad with lots of distorsion at some frequencies.
First I checked my earbuds but they were ok. Next I listened to the songs in iTunes where it sounded ok. After some testing I tried to burn a CD and then rip the songs to unprotected AAC (m4a). And voila, those files played without distorsion on my iPod!
Is it a bug in iPod Nano or was the album files corrupt in some way? It would be interesting to hear if someone else has noticed the same problem.

Several users have reported similar issues and were only able to resolve it by unsyncing and resyncing podcasts, or restoring the iPod in iTunes.

  • Can't move music from iTunes store onto my poor old iPod (2004)

I have an old click wheel iPod (more than 3yrs old) and I am having trouble moving songs I purchased from iTunes store onto it. they download fine onto my PC (I Know, I know, I'm buying a MacBook soon).
I keep getting an error message saying I cannot move these songs onto my iPod as that machine is not authorised (and this is the only device I have tried so it can't be the more than 5 issue). It this because my iPod it too old?
Help, as I have wasted a lot of money on music I can only listen to on my PC

    Any help here?
iPod does not play content purchased from the iTMS.

  • Recent purchases from ITunes Store will not copy to IPod

I am running Vista and have taken all downloads available that I am aware of. I just purchased some new music from the ITunes Store. I am getting this message:
"Some of items in the ITunes Library (those are the new items) were not copied to the IPod because you are not authorized to play them on this computer."
    Any help would be appreciated!
P.S. I can see the new music in the library, but it won't copy over with the rest of the music.
    Thanks,

  • New buys from iTunes Store won't transfer to iPod

Earlier I posted about losing 1 authorisation because of changing the motherboard of my computer. Once I found out how to authorise the new one all seemed oke again; authorisation error disappeared.
However I've found I'm missing over 50 tracks on my iPod.
They still are in the iTunes Library though. I bought about 10 more tracks yesterday and synchronised my iPod. The songs did not get transfered. They have been selected in the iTunes Library. I'm lost.
How come some earlier and some newly bought tracks don't get synchronised no more? Only things that have happened is
    A. I changed my motherboard (but authorised the computer again after doing so)
    B. I re-installed lates version of iTunes (7.3.2.6)

I did reset the iPod back to factory settings, and after that all selected tracks in my iTunes Library were properly synchronised again.
Still wondering though if there'd been a less 'drastic' measure.

  • Sound quality from iTunes Store downloads

    Hi Mac Mavens,
I'm a pretty discerning listener and I'm wondering about the quality of the sound from iTunes Store downloads vis-a-vis a CD. If you play them side by side through a very good sound system would you be able to hear the difference? Any audiophiles out there who have made the comparison? What's your verdict?
    Thanks one and all,
    CZ1957

I, for one, can hear the difference between 256 Kbit AAC and uncompressed AIFF over my Imac's tiny speakers. Over a good sound system, the difference is not subtle.
Compressed audio is inferior to the original, and there's very little argument about that. It's my understanding that most people can hear the difference between lossy compression and uncompressed audio.
Upon hearing it, however, some people can live with the difference, while others can't.
There are two very good reasons why you might wish obtain your audio on physical CD's: 1) if you care about the artistic intent of the musician and you want to hear everything they created, that's only available on CD, and 2) you might not wish to be overcharged for an inferior product. The "iTunes Plus" compression throws away about 80% of the information in the original audio, yet the cost is about the same as a physical CD. Why anyone pays $10 for one fifth of the data on a CD, when all the data is available for about the same price, is beyond me.

  • How do I Download from Itunes store using the Apple Lossless format?

I use my music on a home sterio and import locally from CD's to Windows using the Apple Lossless format only, to achieve the Highest quality sound. However, When I buy from Itunes store I can only get AAC format, which is low quality. How can I get Itunes to give me only Apple Lossless format?
Your help will b e appreciated.
    Thanks
    Phil

I do agree with what i have been said. I am a musician, i think AAC is definitely medium-low quality. I bought this year lots of AAC 256 for Itunes. I have been surprised. SO many times i need to go to the equalizer to counter-balance the weakness of this file format.
I advise you to do the following. Import a CD using Apple LossLess and then import a CD using AAC 256. You will see a HUGE difference.
Now i start to buy CD again in order to get the music Quality. Then i import my CDs to Itunes using Apple LossLess (920Kbps). You will ear that on Snares and Rides. Bass will sound more natural. Bass, Medium, Sharp will more balance with each other. You will hear instruments with more clarity especially when there are a lot of instruments. Because of that, you will not need to raise up the volume.
But more than anything... you will gain VOLUME in your files.
In general over the internet all the online music stores including Itune doesn't provide HD quality. AAC 256 is not enough. A track bought over Itune Store should weight 30 megabytes, not 5. And then you would decide to compress it or not.

  • Invisible audiobooks from iTunes Store

What causes iTunes to discriminate between the Audiobooks and Music directories when downloading purchases from the iTunes Store?
I use the latest iTunes and update regularly. Software updates are automatic when connecting any device. I feel that the following issue concerned with audiobooks is not being addressed by Apple and it also appears this has always been an issue with the iShuffle (1st or 2nd generation). The normal routes of contact are only pushing out an Apple problem to the end user.
Creating a folder with a playlist that contains the selected files works without problem for most imports/purchases. But when an audiobook is downloaded from iTunes and is (automatically) sent to the audiobooks directory, this selection is invisible for synchronisation, although it appears correctly before sync. Should any download go to the Music directory it is seen and syncs OK with the iShuffle. Everything syncs with a 4G iPod regardless of the source (Audiobooks or Music). Dragging a playlist selection to the iShuffle device pane imports the file, but remains unplayable as though it is invisible or simply not recognised. The issue seems to be connected only with the iShuffle and downloads of purchases from iTunes Store to Audiobooks and not downloads to Music.
Some podcasts behave in a similar fashion, everything seems OK until they become invisible on sync/update. Or simply don't play on the iShuffle, but everywhere else.

    Hi,
I've had the same trouble with the single audiobook I've purchased from iTunes, and tried to load onto my 5th gen. iPod. The results were as follows:
    1) In my iTunes Library on my computer, it's shown as an Audiobook. So far, so good.
    2) When my iPod is connected to the computer, and I click on the iPod icon to see what's on it, the Audiobook folder is of course there, and the audiobook I Purchased is indeed shown in the Audiobooks folder.
    3) However, here's the problem: Eject the iPod from the computer and use the scroll wheel on the iPod and the the audiobook file only shows up in the Music/Artists/Genre/ etc. folders. The Audiobooks folder in the iPod is empty.
I suspect something isn't quite right, because I sometimes have the same trouble with Podcasts, but it's a rare occurance. I'll download a podcast from the iTunes store, and it will indeed sync to my iPod, but ONLY in the music folder, and not within the Podcasts folder on my iPod. Coincidence? Maybe. I'd say this happens about 2% of the time, BUT IT DOES HAPPEN.
By the way, the audiobook files I purchased from iTunes are ".m4p's", according to the "get info" window, so I assume they are indeed "iPod ready". .
I'd appreciate your comments, since your suggestion to follow the "...aldoblog...." thread wasn't really germane to the original question.

Unless you subscribe to iTunes Match , Apple does not keep a backup of your iTunes library.  Even then it is not the library as it exists on your computer, but some version of the media, and only media files, not playlists.  Even then not all media are definitely available since anything removed from the iTunes Store since you purchased it is not available for re-download.

In your case it sounds like you will have to obtain non iTunes purchases from their original source or a backup you may have made at some time in the past.

  • HT201272 I purchased a ringtone from itunes store on my I phone 5 but cannot find how to assign it to my ringtone

I purchased a ringtone from itunes store on my iphone5 but cannot find how to assign it as my ringtone. Can anyone offer suggestions please

    Help again! lol
tonight I tried to download a ringtone to my iPhone 5.  Picked out the one I wanted, clicked on "buy" and was asked for my p/w & if I wanted to assign it to a contact.  Yes, entered correct p/w & yes.  NO DOWNLOAD - it doesn't show up in my Ringtones under "Sounds" or "Text Tones" and a search of my phone doesn't show it.  So, even though my balance was subtracted the cost, I tried again....still doesn't show up on the phone OR in iTunes on my iMac or iPad - and I was charged for it again!!   ETA: It doesn't even show up in recent purchases.?!?
iMatch is turned on in all devices and I noticed that in iTunes on my iMac, there is NO tab for "Ringtones" or "Tones" in the top menu across my iTunes screen....however, in my library on the Mac there IS a line item for ringtones, but it's empty when I click on it.  This is the 2nd ringtone I've purchased that doesn't show up; thrtefore I cannot use either one but have been charged for both...GRRR
I also noticed tonight that a lot of my options in my Library on the Mac are "grayed out" so I can't even get into them. Yes, I'm signed in & all devices are
authorized.  Can't even sync my iPhone & yes I checked that it's marked on both devices.  *sigh*
What do I need to do?  The closest Apple store is over an hour away from me.  Should I reset iTunes or the iPhone (or both)?  Not really what I want to do on my long weekend now that I'm finally down to 2 jobs 6 days a week!
TIA for any help anyone can give me!
(BTW, it turned out the other ringtone I'd purchased on 12/1/11 was no longer available (3rd ringtone - actually 1st so the ones in this question are #'s 2 & 3), and Apple was kind enough to give me some free songs.)

  • Unrestricted sharing of free* items from iTunes Store

We are trying to find a legal but convenient way of managing our family iTunes purchases and sharing.
We are just beginning to use iTunes on a couple of new Macs, three iPads or iPod Touch devices and two old PC's.
We have a home Wi-Fi network with a network drive, where we can store items to be shared.
The children in a few years will move out and will take their music, e-books, etc. with them.
Our Internet connection is slow we would like to avoid downloading the same free item from the iTunes Store to libraries associated with different Apple ID's.
We want everybody to eventually have his/her own copy of our home videos and voice memos recorded on portable devices, which can be further shared without any restrictions.
I understand that some of the rules that Apple set for iTunes users are as follows.
    1. Every item purchased from iTunes Store is marked with the ownership information i.e. information about of the account it was purchased from. (The account is identified at any given time by a unique Apple ID.)
    2. The ownership information on an item can not be changed, i.e. I cannot give an item to somebody else, declining to use it any more, and transferring the item to that person's iTunes library associated with that person's iTunes account.
Question 1: Are the statements 1 and 2 above correct and precise?
Question 2: Does the same apply to free items (iTunes U, e-books, iPod/iPad apps) from the iTunes store? (it is painful to download the same free item to different accounts over a slow Internet connection.)
Question 3. Does the same apply to music imported into iTunes from a CD?
Question 4: Is it true that in order to allow the kids to take their items with them when they move out, one has to make sure that the items
have been purchased from iTunes accounts associated with their own Apple ID's and placed in their separate iTunes libraries?
Question 5: If I add our home videos and voice memos to my iTunes Library associated with my iTunes account, and do not retain other copies, will it be possible to copy such items to libraries associated with other Apple ID's without any restrictions? Will it be possible to extract such items from iTunes?
Question 6: As long as we are using the same Wi-Fi, can we share music, video,  ebooks from libraries associated with different Apple ID's? I believe so, but please confirm. What are the restrictions? Is it helpful to place an iTunes library on a network drive?
Question 7: I believe the same iTunes library can contain items purchased through different iTunes accounts; also there can be multiple iTunes libraries associated with the same iTunes account. Are such options useful and would they help in managing family purchases and sharing?
Question 8. I noticed that a portable device can sync (download) items from only one library. Different persons have apps and music from different libraries associated with their own Apple ID's. We would like them to have also on their portable devices the same free e-books and home videos or voice memos. Do we have to copy such free e-books and voice memos to all the different libraries?
These must be questions many familes ask, but I could not find a precise and comprehensive answer despite browsing the web for several days.
    Could you please help?

No. It said nothing about authorizing a computer. I only have one I-Pod and one computer with my library on it. I have listened to these 4 songs for over one year on my p/c and I-Pod. This is a new one to me. These 4 songs still show up in my "purchased" section of my I-tunes but I cannot play them and they will not
copy to my I-Pod. I see where I can repurchase these songs at the I-tunes store, but don't want to pay for them twice. What do you think is going on? Thanks.

  • Bought two songs from iTunes store on my iPhone 4s. Tried bringing the songs from my phone to my computer iTunes through iCloud but it doesn't even show the option to choose music?

My computer has been authorised and has the newest version of iTunes. My iPhone shoes the option of choosing my computer's music but my computer doesn't even show the option of music, but shows apps, movies, tv-shows and books. When i choose the option of find music to download from my phone, it says i have downloaded all yet i haven't and the music isn't in my library.
This was my first time when i bought anything from iTunes store and it also shows in my account information that i have bought these two songs but when trying to download them from my iCloud it doesn't work. Also when i click on the songs in my iTunes store on my computer, it says i have bought them but doesn't show the option of playing them. Is the problem in my iPhone or is this something to do with the songs' copyrights?

  • How can I get all of my music onto my iphone 5 from itunes on my computer, when it is only syncing the music i purchased from itunes store directly?

Everything was fine until I got a USB drive from a friend to download a new album onto my itunes from her.  I struggled to get the music synced onto my iphone 5, but it got into itunes fine on my laptop.  So I ended up resyncing the whole device, and apparently this means it only could transfer the songs that I had bought from itunes, and none of the previous music I had from cds, etc that I had added to itunes by myself over the years.  Now on itunes it has a cautin sign for every single non itunes purchased song saying it does not know where to find the song and can not play it.  My iphone now only has 43 songs (the ones I bought from itunes store) and is missing the other 2000 I have.  Does anyone know how to fix this for me???? I am desperate!  I'm using windows 8 on this new laptop and am beyond confused!
Also it might be important to note that I had itunes on an older laptop and within the past year i have transfered everything to a new laptop, so perhaps since the original music folders were on the old laptop, it cant find them? I don't know, I am not great with technology, but desperate please!!!

Copy everything form your backup copy of your old computer to the new one.

You have to be in a country, and have a billing address in that country, to download from its store. You can try requesting that the app be added to the Slovenia store, but unless the app's developer/rights-holder agrees to it then Apple won't be able to sell it there : http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html
