.m4v videos play jerky with VISTA

sound is OK, but video is jerky. These have been purchased from iTunes and they worked fine with Windows XP. I've tried all the troubleshooting suggestions on Apple support site. Anyone else have a solution?

Take a look here and see if any of the tips help:
Troubleshooting iTunes for Windows Vista video playback performance issues
The suggestions for Vista are somewhat different than those for XP.
Good luck.

  • Will any Creative MP3/Video Players Work With Vista Ultimate/Yahoo Music Out of the B

i've had a heck of a time getting my zen touch to work with my new vista ultimate dell pc, almost ready to give up. why i'm even thinking of getting another creative device given the above i'm not sure, but if i was, do any of the current devices (20gb or greater, mostly for music but want video capabilities) work with vista and yahoo music correctly and without a huge amount of heartache? and if not, any other devices i should look at? i really like the yahoo music service so don't want to go the apple route. thx!

iTunes is only intended for iPods and iPhones. In recent releases, Apple has instituted changes that prevent it from being used with other devices, e.g. release 8.2.1 deliberately broke the ability to sync with the Palm Pre.
Since you will be using multiple platforms, make sure that all music that your rip or purchase is in MP3 format. Then your music can be used in iTunes, Creative, or any other player or program, without conversion or compatibility problems.
Per the problem with Zen and Vista, you may wish to try the question on a Zen discussion.

  • Sonic Impact VIDEO-55 Compatiblity with Vista.

I spent the better part of two days trying to find out how to downgrade the ipod classic software to 1.0.2 so I could use the Sonic Impact VIDEO-55 using the Vista OS.
Everything in these two posts are still in effect but the files locations are not
    applicable to Vista.

    http://spr33.co.uk/wp/archives/downgrading-apple-ipod-firmware-102-101
You have to go to control panel and into folder options and show hidden files and folders.
Then you can swap out the ipod firmware files in....
    C:\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates
Hope this saves someone a few hours of their life.

The Sonic Impact Video55 is compatible with the Classic and new Nano iPods, but it is not compatible with the Touch iPod. The directions for use with the Classic and new Nano are as follows:
To enable your “Classic” or “Nano 3G” iPods the ability to watch videos on your Sonic Impact Video55, please follow the steps below:
Step1) First update the iPod to the software version 1.0.2
Step2) Then switch on the TV Out option.
step3) Place the iPod in the Video55 dock and switch the Video55 on and play a video.
Step4)At this time, you will be viewing only the blue screen.
Step5)Now go to the Menu on the Video55 and change the source from iPod to Video and then back to iPod. It will now play videos. Any control of forwarding the video or going to the next video you will have to use only the next/skip button on the iPod.
This worked with my Classic 80G and my friends new Nano.

  • IMoviemobile export to Camera Roll will not play with quicktime on PC (video plays but with black screen, audio ok)

Videos created in iMovie on the new ipad will not play on PC with Quicktime after being exported to the Camera Roll and copied to the PC. Movie will play but with a black screen only. Audio ok. Was able to do before ios 6 but not now.

I'm having the same problem. All of the movies I export out of iMovie since upgrading to the latest version show up with no video, only audio, in Quicktime. Ironically the video place just fine in Windows Media Player and also in iTunes.

  • Youtube/Flash videos play but with no sound

I have gone through other posts both here and elsewhere trying to fix this issue.
It happened, so far as I can tell, after the most recent set of updates that I installed (less than a week ago; my computer is set to update every month). Youtube and any other Flash videos online will play the video, but the sound option has a red x on it and does not allow me to have any sound with the videos. This occurs both in Safari and Firefox.
Videos played through Quicktime (even .flv files downloaded from Youtube) play just fine, without any problems at all.
I have changed the Audio Midi settings, uninstalled/reinstalled Flash player (and repaired disk permissions), reset PRAM, opened up Garageband/Quicktime/All other audio programs, and to no avail.
I am running 10.6.6 on an iMac G5. My other iMac G5, which had the same set of updates installed, does not have this issue, which makes it even more baffling.
I am almost to the point of backing up the computer's contents and doing a clean install of the system, but that seems like an overkill solution.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.

  • Video Playback ISSUE WITH VISTA!!!!  NEEDED HELP BADLY!!!!!!!

I am using a Dell XPS GEN 5 PC with Windows Vista Premium Edition as the current OS installed. I have latested up date for Itunes and QuickTime (7.1.6) Installed. I have recently bought and downloaded 3 of the Original Star Trek Tv Shows from Itunes. When I try and play one of them, they don't work. The Screen comes up, the show starts, then stops. Sometimes the sound keeps on playing, and then stops. Sometimes it just dosent even come on. I'm guessing (as a highly advanced Windows PC User) That this ia a "video/playback issue, related to a Apple/Vista Compatibility problem. I would like help solving this problem.
    -Nick.

Do you have a SATA hard drive? I have the same problem you describe when trying to play videos in iTunes. Do the previews of music videos on the iTunes web site play OK? If they do you probably have the same problem with SATA HD and iTunes incompatibility. Not sure who is going to fix that problem and when. I have found one fix that worked for me. Copy your video(s) to a flash drive and then play them from there. It's a workaround and you shouldn't have to do it but it does allow you to watch the videos.

  • Need help in controlling a video (play/pause) with the main play bar in Cp7.

In a presentation, I'm doing an online ordering demo - my slide(s) have a video object, audio clip and may have various text and/or shapes that will transition from time to time. The problem being, if Pause is clicked in the main/TOC play bar, the presentation pauses but the video continues to play, until the end of that video. My video is an .f4v (I've also tried it as an .flv).
What can i do to allow the main play bar to control the video?

Insert as Slide video, not as Event video.  Then the playbar will also control the video.

  • Video Play slowly with WIFI Connect for TC & Macbook Pro

Why the movie play slowly when I use the wifi connection for TC & Macbook Pro?

If you hold down an "option" key while you pull down the Wi-Fi menu-bar item on that MacBook Pro, what value do you see for "RSSI"?  If it's in the range of -60s to -90s, then your Wi-Fi connection may be too weak.

  • Video is jerky with iPad 2 using airplay or mirroring.

Is there any solution to this?

Mirroring requires a lot more than airplay. I would check for interference using istumbler.net or net stumbler. Also ensure there are no other activities occurring on the network

  • Can video play be improved?

I have to say I pick up this Pismo more often now than my MacBook but the only real problem with it is video play. With only 8mb VRAM, Youtube is really slow. Is there any way around this? Assuming the VRAM is soldered in, I am at a loss.

For best video playback on a Pismo, quit all other apps and background processes that might compete for CPU, because you just don't have much CPU power compared to what online video needs.
The reason online video managed to fit into home bandwidth was that they invented codecs that could crunch video down enough to transmit for smooth playback. The catch is that to do this, the online codecs require a very powerful processor on the receiving end to both decompress and play back frames fast enough.
The problem is that the G3 and G4 and their video cards are too old and weak to handle the decode demands of these modern codecs, while today's 2GHz multi-core CPUs were made for them. The G4 can barely do standard def, but HD is out of the question. The G3 will struggle even with standard def YouTube and of course HD is simply not possible.

  • Captivate working nicely with Vista

Does anyone know if Captivate 3 and/or 4 plays nice with Vista yet?  I know there were problems last fall about the 2 not flowing back and forth.  I am about to get a laptop and put Captivate on it.  I am just wondering if I need to make sure that I get  an XP opperating system or if the problems have been fixed.  The other users on the projects are using XP I think.
    Thanks.

    Hi there
I'm not sure about Captivate 3, but Captivate 4 should work fine on Vista. But you need to be aware that vista comes in two flavors. 32 bit and 64 bit. The may be issues if you have the 64 bit variety. This variety is becoming more and more dominant as newer PCs are sold.
    Cheers... Rick

Experimental advice (in this particular context) coming up.
Open your QuickTime control panel (either via the Control panels, or by going "Edit > Preferences > QuickTime Preferences" in the Quicktime Player). In the Advanced tab, uncheck Enable Direct3D video acceleration:
... and click OK. Quit and restart the QuickTime Player prior to checking to see if the settings change has had any effect.
