See this web page for specs on the memory for your system, and for memory upgrades:
http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=ThinkCentre%20M58p%20%28type%206137%2C%206234%2C%2...
Your systems PC3-12800 runs at 800Mhz, 1333MHZ ram isn't going to run at 1333Mhz.

  • M90z RAM upgrade to 8gb

    Hi!
    M90z 0800 D3G
It has a while when has upgraded computers. I dont know did ram upgraded probebly?
i installed 2x DDR3 4gb ram cards. SYstem says now that i have 8GB total ram, but (2,8 GB usable) (old card was original 2GB). I have looked a lot issues for that, but im so confuse now.  BIOS version is 6.1.1015.0. Diagnostic says that i dont have memory problems. So is ram correctly installed or do i have to make some updates that motherboard can use new ram capasity propebly?

Yes, the hardware specs are 8GB, however you need a 64-bit OS to address over 4GB.

  • Can my macmini3,1's ram upgrade to 8GB?

For my mac mini, early 2009 model, I have what I thought to be the maximum amount of ram installed, 4GB. A retail website,  OWC, site suggests that if I download a firmware upgrade, EFI Firmware Update 1.2, then I can install 8GB. Is this true?

Yes. The Macmini3,1 supports up to 8 GB of RAM.

  • Ram upgrade from 8gb (1333 mhz)

    Hi,
Hope you all are doing good
I plan to upgrade my ram to 16 gb from the current 8gb  (DDR3 1333 MHz)
However could you please help me with the following
    1) Will any ram do or do i need to buy mac specific ram.  for example corsair sells normal ram and ram specifically for macs at a premium.
    2) Can i use a 1600 MHz ram instead of a 1333 MHz ram as i getting it cheaper without doing any long term damage to my mac other than the speed getting reduced to 1333 MHz
    3) which one is better Crucial or G skill as im unable to buy crucial as im on a vacation and crucial is not available
Hope you have a great weekend

    Macbook PRO Late 2011 (15 inch md318ll/a )

Stick with Crucial or macsales.com (OWC), and get the RAM they recommend. Faster RAM may work, and you may also end up with kernel panics. G. Skill might work, but pretty much all of us here will tell you what I just did.

  • 2011 MBP Ram upgrade. 8Gb or 16Gb?

    Hi all.
Well I've just sold my two Core2Duo machines and bought a late 2011 13" MBP. 2.4 i5 4Gb ram. I was always intending to upgrade the ram and then put an SSD in it.
I've done a fresh install and have noticed right away that it doesn't take many apps to be open to get the beach ball up (having forgotten what that was like with max ram and an SSD in the MacBook)
Now I was going to put 8Gb in initially, but I thought I'd ask opinions, as this is the first time I've used Mountain Lion so I'm not that familiar yet. Would 8Gb be enough for me, or do you recommend the 16Gb? I'm a graphic designer and use indesign, illustrator and photoshop, and the for my own uses I use iPhoto and iTunes and office occasionally. This is my personal machine, so I don't use it all day for this, just when I do any freelance.
I was thinking 8Gb along with an SSD drive in the future should ought to do it. In the UK, crucial have 8Gb listed at £60 and 16Gb listed at £100 for this model (1333Mhz Ram)
I know the intel 3000 card used ram for the graphics, and I will be plugged into an external screen also.
Thanks for your help and suggestions.
    All help much appreciated.
    Rob

I'm thinking of upgrading my RAM too. I have a MacBook Pro 15" (Late 2011 Model) with the following specs:
    2.2 GHz Intel Core i7
    4GB RAM
AMD Radeon HD 6750M 512 MB
As a 3D modeller and 2D illustrator, I use a lot of big software like Photoshop, Maya, Zbrush and Unreal 4. As much as I would like to upgrade to 16GB RAM, my wallet unfortunately is not on the same page with me. Is 8GB enough memory to run these software? And assuming I can afford the 16GB upgrade, can my MBP handle it?

  • MBP 13 Inch Mid 2010 Only accepting 6 GB Ram upgrade not 8GB

I just tried upgrading my ram today from 4GB to 8GB and the computer will only accept 6GB. Not both 2x4GB sticks. The Ram is within the specs for the computer and should be working just fine. Not sure what is going on. Both sticks work with a 2gb stick but not together. Any help would be appreciated. Here is the specs on the Memory. G.Skill 2x4GB DDR3 SODIMM 204PIN PC3-10666

A 2010 MBP RAM should have these specifications: 204-pin PC3-8500 (1066 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM.  The RAM you installed does not appear to match what is required.
Macs are very selective when it come to RAM.  OWC and Crucial are the most reliable vendors for Mac compatible RAM.
I suggest that you return the RAM and purchase from the afore mentioned vendors.
    Ciao.

  • Mid-2010 i7 MBP RAM upgrade to 8GB

Lion has really slowed down this machine and I want to upgrade the RAM to 8GB from 4GB standard.
    About this Mac...
    2.66 GHz Intel Core i7
    4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
My question: I can't find 1067 MHz RAM anywhere. I assume I can use 1066 MHz, but I thought I would ask before I buy it.
    Thanks!

    Here is the specification:
    - Double Data Rate Small Outline Dual Inline Memory Module (DDR3) format
    - 30mm (1.18 inch)
    - 2 GB or 4 GB
    - 204-pin
    - PC3-8500 DDR3 1066 MHz type RAM

  • RAM Upgrade to 8GB possible or not?

    Hi,
I would upgrade my MBP Late 2008 (unibody) from 2X2GB to 2X4GB (DDR3 with 1066 FSB)
Is it possible, will the whole memory be detected?
    regards
    hape62

No, you can't use 8GB in your machine — even if all is detected, the MBP will be wildly unstable. Apple says it will only support 4GB. You may be able to use 6GB successfully, though (one 2GB + one 4GB module). That has worked well for many owners of late '08 machines.

    Hello
Im wondering that you want to upgrade to 8GB RAM... Normally 3 or 4GB should be more as enough for all applicaions at the moment.
Anyway, as Jayjay said its not possible to upgrade to 8GB. A friend of me has a Satellite A300 and the user manual says that it can upgrade to 4GB or 2GB (depending on the chipset). So if you have a PM965/GM965/RS690M chipset you can upgrade it to 4GB. Otherwise you can only use up to 2GB.
I have upgraded my Toshiba notebook with Kingston RAM. This is high quality RAM and has a good compatibility. I never had problems with such modules.
    Check this!!
    Bye

HI, I HAVE A MacBook Pro 2.3GHz dual-core Intel i5 AND I WAN'T TO UPGRADE THE HARD DRIVE UP TO 750GB AND ALSO THE RAM MEMORY TO 8GB. WHAT SPECIFIC MODEL OF HARD DRIVE AND RAM MEMORY SHOULD I BUY??? THANKS

No need to type in all caps - we HEAR you!
I would take a look at the internal drives offered by both Crucial (click the link "Internal Hard Drives Now Available") and OWC. I would stay away from Western Digital drives as they seem to have problems on a number of Mac models.
You can also shop for RAM at Crucial and OWC - just select the System Scanner tab at the Crucial website to find out which memory is right for your machine.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

Is is possible to install Win 2007 in MacPro (retina display) with USB (2.0 or 3.0) as new Mac retina display lacks DVD.
MacBook Pro with Retina display, Windows 7
They have been calling their notebook a MacPro for a year. Or is it this?

To save space on the computer, Apple has decided to solder the memory onto the logic board on the MacBook Pro with Retina display and the MacBook Air, and that's why you can't add more memory after buying the Mac. This only applies to these computers, not for the other ones

  • I recently received a mac book air 11 inch for christmas ... i beliehve it was bought in the states from my father i was unaware of the specs until i opened and read it... and i was wondering if i can still do the upgrade to 8gb ram and bigger flash drive

i recently received a mac book air 11 inch for christmas ... i beliehve it was bought in the states from my father i was unaware of the specs until i opened and read it... and i was wondering if i can still do the upgrade to 8gb ram and bigger flash drive.. is this possible and for how much? its only a week old.

Your 14 days are up, however you could take your case to Apple Inc. regarding same,
    however those are the stipulations.
RAM cannot be upgraded however, period, its permanent on the logic board after mfg.
As for the SSD (solid state drive), upgrading same is a bad premise 9 times out of 10.
No notebooks is a mass storage device, and you need an external HD for data redundancy and backups regardless.
data that is static on your SSD and not used very often has no logical reason to be ON the notebooks, and best saved on a superslim external HD ($60)
SSD are very expensive, even a small one,  HD are cheap as dirt and users are recommended to have one regardless for many good reasons.

  • Planning to upgrade to 8GB of RAM. Which is my best option for my Mid-2010 MacBook white (model 7,1)?

    Macbook white (MID 2010)
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo,
2 GB 1067 MHz DDR 3 (Wanted to upgrade to 8GB)
Just upgraded to iOS 10.7.5 from snow leopard.
Reason for upgrade: Since the OS was upgraded, all process seems to be slower than before.

According to mactracker.ca database (among other) your mid-2010 MacBook white
can use a bit more RAM and likely worth at least 8GB, or more, upgrade for OS X.
And the computer also could be upgraded to Mavericks OS X 10.9.4, if desired.
Maximum Memory    16 GB (Actual) 4 GB (Apple)
    Memory Slots    2 - 204-pin PC3-8500 (1066MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM
•MacBook: How to remove or install memory
For a correct match for parts, you can see information on the Model Identifier and
build year series from crucial.com or macsales.com sites; these offer quality RAM
and upgrades, if you match the parts with your model exactly & correctly.
OWC (macsales) also has fair SSD options, with good technologies, if needed.
Matching sets of RAM tend to do best, and be wary of similar numbered parts that
are not correct; some cheap low-spec PCs use those and don't know any better.
PS: concerning issues with slowness, there is a performance guide among other
Tech Guides here: http://www.thesafemac.com/tech-guides/ also, the basic issue
with a too full hard disk drive, and other saved content that may be best saved to
an externally enclosed hard disk drive, as an accessible archive, is recommended.
An all new installation can be helpful, too. If you have unused old applications or any
anti-virus, remove them. Check the adware removal guide, and other info there.
    Good luck & happy computing!
