M87 Takes an extra 60 seconds to boot now

Hi everyone/MSI,
I made no recent changes to my computer, and it randomly started booting to a black screen which says 99 before it loads the BIOS.  It will sit there for up to a minute then boot normally.  This is extremely annoying because I paid for an SSD mainly for quick boot times.
I use Live update and have the most recent BIOS flashed.
I've already tried the basics of unplugging all the USB ports, disabling USB/CD from boot device list, and ran memtest without an issue, the problem is pre-bios, the bios doesn't even load until this black screen with the 99 message goes away.
Clearing CMOS now and we'll see if that does anything.
Help appreciated

I have fixed my problem.
I turned the PC off and unplugged in and removed RAM sticks and moved to other slot and turned back on.
The problem lies in an issue with the USB on the motherboard.  You guys will probably need to address this in a future BIOS update. What happened is in windows it would randomly say USB device not compatible or not recognized when I turned PC on, but the USB devices would still work.
And when I reboot when I had the 99/AC stuck on black screen, it must be due to this issue.  Maybe it's those weird power controllers you guys put on them or something? But I know this is an issue across the board with current Intels.

I have reset the SMC-Shift/Control/Option-hold- start

Ok, I'm gonna re-read this Transferring files from one User Account to another coupla times. Trying to see how I can see both accounts/homes at the same time.
Is this the home folder items on the right I copy and paste into the new HOME on the newly created Admin Account (using a different  name)? So I select the the 10 folders, select copy and I assume all content is copied as well and then paste that into.....ok, I'll bug off and read and re-read and then decide to try--or not.
This has been good, your help is spot on.

  • IntelMac takes 20 seconds to boot up?

My new IntelMac takes a long time (10-15 seconds) to boot up from button on back... my old G5 boots immediately... any ideas why it is so slow to come on?

The EnergySaver preferences are set the same on both computers...
    The G5 is usually turned OFF; it takes less than 5 seconds to turn it on w/power button;
the IntelMac is usually in SLEEP mode and boots from keyboard.
When it is shut down, there is the delay in booting from the power button.
The PowerButton on the IntelMac is not as 'depressed' as the G5 and sometimes I have to feel around to find it.... I thought something was wrong with it, but if you think the delay is normal for the Intel then I guess I will learn to live with it!!
    Thanks

  • USB enumeration takes up to 20 seconds after wakeup or bios boot on P67A-GD65

    Hi all,
Just bought my new rig. It is described in my signature. Unfortunately I found two issues with my current setup. The first issue is in a separate post.
I'm using a P67A-GD65 motherboard. My USB keyboard and mouse are immediately detected the first time I start up my computer (cold boot), but when I do a suspend (to S3) and resume it usually takes quite a while before the mouse and keyboard are enumerated again. I can see this as the mouse and keyboard light up when they are ready for use. It sometimes takes up to 20 seconds, but the delay differs everytime. Occacionally the mouse and keyboard are immediately lighting up after I press the resume button, which is the behaviour you expect. On my previous pc I never had issues with enumeration after a resume.
When I restart the PC, the bios usually gets stuck in Post code B4 (USB HOTPLUG) for quite a while as well. It is probably trying to enumerate the mouse and keyboard. This can also take up to 10 seconds. During a cold boot this does not happen and B4 is completed instantly.
This issue is quite annoying, as I have to wait for quite a while before I can use my keyboard and mouse after I wakeup the PC. It beats the principle of instant-on, and sometimes it is faster to cold-boot the thing.
    I tried both V1.7, V1.8 and V1.9B1 bioses.
When I disconnect one of the devices (only mouse, or only keyboard), the enumeration is usually quicker, but still takes up to 5 seconds.
Could this be a bug in the Sandybridge chipset (it is not stepping B3), or is it something in the BIOS? Are any others having this issue and found a solution?

I've red through the P67 errata about USB and all of them have the status "No Plan to Fix". As being quite familiar with the USB 2.0 specification (I've once written an USB driver for an embedded system myself) I do not see any issues mentioned that could be related to enumeration problems during cold boot or resume. This seriously doubts me that the B3 release will fix my issue.
I will also put this problem in MSI support, but knowing how they did reply in my other issue report about the mouse not working in my BIOS I'm not so sure if they will take it seriously....

My original iPad takes about 5 long seconds before responding to my finger tap in the safari window. Like I tap in Safari window, then count 5 seconds before I can begin typing my search words. Is this normal? I really don't remember it taking so long when I bought it, but it has been this way for awhile. I have closed all open apps many times to no avail. I just reset all settings and still 5 seconds. I don't have a lot on my iPad with plenty of free space available. Also, I have to click twice on many things that typically take one click. Like it highlights it with first click, then second click completes the action that normally would be done in one click, like Facebook like button. Like will underline with click one, then will change to like on second click. Do I need to try to restore from my computer?
    Thanks for any help!

Ive tried that but when Im logged in I dont have all the permmisions I should have so it just runs the test for my usernames own little virtual world.  Ive been using macs for over a decade now and I have never had my computer do anything like this. while sitting in front of my screen I watched the mouse go to some personal files and change the permissions and then covered their tracks by changing the timestamp on the file dates back. I watched it happpen while all internet conections were off.  I had my identity stolen, my facebook password changed, my email accounts closed out. and my firmware password changed all within two weeks of the origninal boot date

all updates as of 8-4 were loaded (including the firmware update)
The problem started after the updates were updated.
here are the things Ive already tried:
    - removed 3rd party RAM
    - reset PRAM
    - reset Power (hold down power button w/ no batteries attached or external power)
    - booting into Safe mode
    - doing the hardware tests. (it crashes 30 seconds into the test)
any ideas? I dont think I can reload the OS at this point.

You could also try getting the old versions from an unsynchronized mirror: https://www.archlinux.org/mirrors/status/
I don't think that pm-utils is the problem. FWIW upower is OK here on an i686 (xfce too).
About the chart -- hmm... What kind of screwed mind does it take to follow it completely? I usually skip to the vodoo part directly.

    Dude or hot-spur,
Not fishy at all!!!! You really think I would have taken any more of my time to post a bogus rant? We'll no, it is unfortunately all true. I want to hear from anyone who is experiencing such problems not anyone else that wants to put there two cents in. I really don't need anymore hate or negativity. Just people's experiences because I feel like I am the only one having so many problems. Thank you
Yes, I have had some unfortunate bad luck to have so many problems at the same time, but some of them are just things you cannot do on the new OS.
    Thank you again

  • After minimizing it takes up to 5 seconds for home screen to load

Galaxy S3, Android 4.3: After minimizing, it takes up to 5 seconds for the home screen to load. The screen is empty, without icons or widgets (not black - just completely empty). Seems to be Firefox specific: Chrome and other applications are not affected by this. Highly annoying. Can this be fixed?

I have an HTC Gingerbread device, and it has a problem with several different programs that if you use the Back button to exit Firefox and some other apps to the home screen, it crashes (white screen with HTC logo) and needs several seconds to rebuild. In my case, this seems to start at some point in a session, and then continues until I restart the device.
So I don't think this is necessarily specific to your build of Android or the Samsung shell. I'm not sure what causes it. Since you have a popular device, you might check a forum like the following to see whether anyone has more insight there:

  • 5G iPod Takes 10-15 minutes to unmount/boot

After I sync my 5G iPod and iTunes says it's OK to disconnect,I unmount (eject) my iPod from iTunes. However, it takes approximately 12 to 13 minutes before my iPod's hard drive stops spinning and the Do Not Disconnect message is replaced by the iPod menu.
Also, when my iPod resets, it also takes 12 to 13 minutes to boot. While I expected a 5th Gen iPod to take longer, it only took my 3G iPod 3 or 4 minutes to boot.
I cannot imagine this sort of wear is doing any favors to my iPod's drive. Any ideas as to what's going on here, or what I might be able to do to remedy the situation?
    Dell Dimension E510   Windows XP   5G 80GB iPod, 3G 40GB iPod

Mine takes maybe 1 minute to return to the menu screen after clicking the disconnect icon in itunes and it only takes a minute or two to reset also. I have all but 12gb used for mostly music and audio files.
One guess is that there is a problem with the hard drive that is causing it to do alot of retries to get the data off of the disk. It also could be something funky happened to the code in the ipod that a complete restore would fix. I would suggest doing a restore to see if that fixes it. This will wipe your ipod and reload it from itunes, so make sure all of your content is in itunes before trying it.

  • HT4623 I upgraded my iPad 2 and now it keeps locking up.  It takes 45 seconds to to unlock the device.  When I try to reply to an email it takes 10 to 12 seconds for each letter to appear.

I have recently upgraded my iPad 2 to iOS7.  I am not happy because it is locking up.  It takes almost 45 seconds to enter my four digit code.  When I type an email it takes 10 to 12 seconds for the letters to appear.

    Resetting your settings
You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends this only if you are unable to restart it.
Or if this doesn't work and nobody else on the blog doesn't have a better idea you can contact Apple.
Here is a link to their contacts with most of the information below.

  • Multitrack Edits Take 1 to 2 Seconds Each

Lately, I have a problem where every edit I make in the multitrack takes 1 to 2 seconds to complete.  It does not matter whether I am splitting a clip or moving a clip, the time for the operation to complete always takes 1 to 2 seconds.  This operation always used to be immediate.  I have not changed anything in my preferences.  The disk cache is using my SSD for Primary and my 7200 RPM Audio drive for Secondary cache.  I tried reversing them, but it made no change.  I have searched the forum and google with no luck.  I'm really hoping someone has had a similar experience and figured out how to fix it.
    My rig:
    Core i7
    8 gigs of RAM
    Adobe CC 2014 (latest updates)
    Windows 7
No major changes have been made to the computer.

Additional Info:  I just tried moving about a dozen clips at once and it took about 10 seconds for Audition to complete the operation.

  • Ldap search query takes more than 10 seconds

LDAP query takes more than 10 seconds to execute.
For validating the policy configured, the Acess Manager(Sun Java System Access Manager) contacts the LDAP (Sun Java System Directory Server 6.2) to get the users in a dynamic group. The time out value configured in Access Manager for LDAP searches is 10 seconds.
Issue : The ldap query takes more than 10 seconds to execute at some times .
The query is executing with less than 10 seconds in most of the cases, but it takes more than 10 seconds in some cases. The total number of users available in the ldap is less than 1500.
    7 etime =1
    6 etime =1
    102 etime=4
    51 etime=5
    26 etime=6
    5 etime=7
    4 etime=8
From the ldap access logs we can see the following entry, some times the query takes more than 10 seconds,
    [28/May/2012:14:21:26 +0200] conn=281 op=41433 msgId=853995 - SRCH base="dc=****,dc=****,dc=com" scope=2 filter="(&(&(***=true)(**=true))(objectClass=vfperson))" attrs=ALL

The query was aborted by the access manger after 10 seconds.
Please post your suggestions to resolve this issue .
1.How we can find out , why the query is taking more than 10 seconds ?
2.Next steps to resolve this issue .

    Hi Marco,
    Thanks for your suggestions.
Sorry for replying late. I was out of office for few weeks.
    1) Have you already tuned the caches? (entry cache, db cache, filesystem cache?)
We are using db cache and we have not done any turning for cache. The application was working fine and there was no much changes in the number of users .
    2) Unfortunately we don't have direct access to the environment and we have contacted the responsible team to verify the server health during the issue .
Regarding the IO operations we can see that, load balancer is pinging the ldap sever every 15 seconds to check the status of ldap servers which yields a new connection on every hit. (on average per minute 8 connections - )
    3) We using cn=dsameuser to bind the directory server. Other configuration details for ldap
LDAP Connection Pool Minimum Size: 1
    LDAP Connection Pool Maximum Size:10
Maximum Results Returned from Search: 1700
    Search Timeout: 10
Is the Search Timeout value configured is proper ? ( We have less than 1500 user in the ldap server).
Also is there any impact if the value Maximum Results Returned from Search = set to 1700. ( The Sun document for AM says that the ideal value for this is 1000 and if its higher than this it will impact performance.
The application was running without time out issue for last 2 years and there was no much increase in the number of users in the system. ( at the max 200 users added to the system in last 2 years.)
    Thanks,
    Jay
