M92P Screen Resolution Reverts to 1024x768

We have an issue with our desktops where the screen resolution reverts to 1024x768 on an apparent screen refresh.
We are using Windows 7 M92P ThinkCentre desktops with dual displayport, extended display output on L2251X's (both at 1680x1050). The graphics driver/chip is on-board Intel HD 4000.
It all works fine until the screen refreshes, an example being when a UAC prompt appears. The monitors will flip (so the primary display will become display 2), display 1 will change to 1024x768 and display 2 will change to 800x600.
If you go into Control Panel > Display > Screen Resolution and try to drag display 2 back into it's correct position whilst setting the correct resolutions, clicking apply does nothing. If you try this multiple times (anywhere from 3-10 attempts) it will eventually apply.
Is this a memory issue? We have 4GB of memory installed.
Is it a driver issue? We have the latest Intel HD 4000 driver and latest BIOS (up to this post's timestamp).
Any help would be appreciated!

Hi, TheMagic89
Have you updated your machines to the latest BIOS, found here? Looking at the ReadMe of the BIOS update, it does provide some assistance with another resolution issue and it may help. Also, how long have you been facing this issue?
Thanks in advance,
Adam

  • MSI R7770 GHZ Edition Screen Resolution Reverts

My Screen Resolution sometimes reverts to 1024*786, when PC starts. It doesn't happen every time, but once in a day or 2-3 days after. My recommended resolution is 1600*900.
Using latest version of graphics driver 13.12, downloaded from MSI official website.
I have tried uninstalling & re installing. Then formatting & fresh install. But no luck. Please help me regarding this matter.
    Thanks...

A Radeon 7770 requires 19A on +12v and a 500W psu minimum what makes your psu inadequate. That on the other hand is not the only problem. This old Fujitsu PC lacks an updated bios for supporting new vgas especially as new like the 7770. Also it is an old PCI-E Gen1 board AMD Gen2 or Gen3 cards usually cause trouble with or refuse to work at all. To sum up the possibility to run the card in your old Fujitsu PC is very slim or there's even none.

  • Windows XP Pro Desktop - Screen Resolution and Color Quality

When synchronizing my Zire after many successful and no problems the XP Pro screen resolution reverted to the lowest profile.
I can reset the resolution to the True color 1024 x 768 but after a minute or two it reverts again.
    1. Reinstalled driver for Intel video on Compaq D510C motherboard and get same problems as well as corrupted looking graphics on screen.
    2. Switched to a known good monitor and same problems (which I did not think was the problem but did to verify).
    3. Installed new gForce5200fx graphics card and video still reverts and is corrupted looking even when in higher reset resolution.

  • Screen resolution in 10G and converison from 6i

    Scenario is something like this:
We are converting forms from 6i to 10G.
We have designed forms in 6i for 1024x768 screen resolution. We don't have any issues in 6i for screen resolution of 1024x768.
We converted the form to 10G. Screen resolution is still 1024x768 in 10G. We are using separateFrame=true in formsweb.cfg to make sure we don't show the Applet in browser window. separateFrame=true opens the application in new window and this new window can use entire screen resolution.
Applet in new window is bigger than the screen resolution and we see scroll bars in main window when we open a child window. Obviously the applet is showing bigger footprint than client server form.
Why is this so? Is there a way to fix this?

If you will bring up a client-server form and a Web separate-frame form and compare them side-by-side, you can easily see the difference.
The height and width of the actual space used by the form is identical. In fact, in my comparison, both window widths are exactly the same number of pixels. I used snagit to compare the sizes.
However, if you compare the heights, you will see the difference. The web forms window has three bands above the actual Form canvas:
    1. The main window bar with the java icon on the left, window title, and the three windows icons for minimize, maximize and close.
    2. The pull-down menu choices on the left and the "Oracle" logo on the right. (Look-and-feel generic removes the Oracle logo, I believe.)
    3. The Window0 bar, blank except an icon on the left (right click shows Restore, Move, Size,... CLose) and an icon on the right, which clicking causes the inside window to maximize or restore.
The Client/Server window has two bands:
    1. Main window bar, similar to 1 above, except the icon on the left is a Forms icon instead of java.
    2. Combination of 2 and 3 above: Contains both the icons in 3 above plus the pull-down menu choices. It is also about 8 pixels shorter than the web forms bar 2.
In addition, comparing the bar with the message and status lines at the bottom of both versions, you can see that the web forms bar is about 9 more pixels higher.
It is possible to position the Window0 at a y_pos of about -20 to regain some of the lost height (this causes the third bar described above to be hidden behind the second). But you cannot get all the height back, because of the additional height taken by Web Forms for the second bar and the bottom area.
So what is left is to reduce the height of the canvas area used by your forms by about 20 pixels.
I believe these heights are determined by the java runtime used by web forms rather than Oracle, so there is nothing Oracle can do about it.

  • Why does opening iTunes cause my screen resolution to change automatically?

Recently opening iTunes started automatically changing my screen resolution.  When I close iTunes the screen resolution reverts back to normal.  Does anyone now why this is happening or how I can make it stop?  I am also unable to view my music library, ipod and contents, paylists etc.... in a column on the left side of iTunes like I used to be able to do.  Any help with that issue?

I have tha same problem on the same Mac with CS6 Design Standard.
And I don't know how repair it.
Maybe does it happen for the switching of the graphic card from Intel HD to Nvidia GeForce?

I recently updated to iTunes 11 on my Windows PC. Since the update, each time I open iTunes its window is too large for my screen. Resizing it is a pain, because I have to change my screen resolution. And then when I restart iTunes, it has reverted back to being too large. Please help!

Having the same issue here....a quick fix is to just minimize the window, and immediately maximize it.  It will now fit the screen.  Trouble is, after you close it, you'll have to do it again when you re-start itunes.  The good news is it takes all of about 2 seconds.  Apple should fix this.  Should.

  • Screen resolution rolls back to 1024X768

Hello everyone. I'm using a 3000 N100 and I have this nagging problem.
Every so often, at Windows startup, the screen resolution turns back, by itself, to 1024X768, leaving two big vertical lines on each side of the screen. I must then go to Device Manager, disinstall the monitor, then go to Intel Graphics display properties, and select 1280X800. Everything will be just fine for a couple of startups (a few days), then, by magic, it turns itself back to 1024X768.
I'm supposed to be running the latest driver.
Pissed to have to do this on a supposedly pretty good little computer.
    Dave

    Hello,
Without laptop model it's hard  to advice.
On my G530 it's a BIOS issue. Latest BIOS upgrade says it fixes issues with screen resolution. I suggest you look into latest BIOS, perhaps it's the issue.

  • Screen Resolution Problem (Max. Resolution of only 1024x768)

    Hello,
I just upgraded my T61 laptop from Windows XP to Windows 7, Everything was fine at first. But one day when I turned on my laptop, I found out that the screen resolution was wrong. It was only 1024x768 (not wide screen). As a result, the screen was on the left, leaving a thick black bar on the right. The given resolutions which I could choose are only 800x600 and 1024x768, no wide screen options. Tried nvidia control panel, it was still the same. Tried to connect to an external monitor (16:9 wide screen), the resolution was, however, perfect (fit the external monitor).
I already have the newest display driver (nvidia Quadro NVS 140m - downloaded from Lenovo). I even reinstalled the driver and installed the monitor driver provided by Lenovo, but the problem still exists.
By the way, after I encountered this problem, when I turn on the laptop, there is no more screen showing the ThinkVantage and the Intel logo. There is also no screen for "Starting Windows". It will straight away enter windows logon screen. It means, I have no way to enter BIOS or the recovery tools by pressing the ThinkVantage button at startup. (I cannot see anything!)
    Anyone can please help me?
    Thanks!

    ahboy0207, welcome to the forum,
you need to install the monitot inf file from here. Scroll down the page for installation instructions.
As you have installed another OS on your system you will have changed the Master Boot Record, (MBR), which contains the information allowing the ThinkVantage button to work at boot. If you left the recovery partition intact, i.e. didn't format it, it may be possible to repair the MBR in order that you can access it. However, the recovery partition will have the original XP image on it and not your W7.
You can enter BIOS by pressing F1 at boot.
    Hope this helps

  • ILife '04 without 1024x768 iBook screen resolution

    Hi all,
I recently upgraded my desktop system to the iMac G5, and with that being said, I have some of my purchased software for the eMac left over.
So after restoring said eMac to factory defaults (thus returning me to a zero count status for single-use software licensing agreements), I thought about installing iLife '04 onto my iBook. (366 MHz graphite, no FireWire - see specs below)
(installation from the CD, not the DVD)
Only problem is that the original clamshells (tangerine, blueberry, graphite) only support a resolution of up to 800x600.
Has anyone installed iLife '04 on a clamshell iBook having this lower-than-minimum resolution? If so, what are the implications of such?
(not counting the elimination of the iDVD and GarageBand apps)
    Just wondering - thanks!
    Steve
    eMac G4 800 MHz, 512 MB RAM   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   iBook G3 366 MHz (clamshell), 576 MB RAM, Mac OS X 10.3.9

There is a workaround: When you click on the iLife install package (only for selecting, not starting the application)
And then go to the finder menu and look for "show original" (I don't know the exact words because I have a german OS X)
Then you will get a bunch of install packages for iDVD, iMovie, Garageband, iPhoto.
iPhoto will work for sure, but at first startup it complains about the screen resolution, you can ignore it.
You can install even Garageband, it plays simple songs with a few instruments flawlessly. I've tested it out with a USB keyboard as well.
There is a iMovie 3 hack for running this programm too:

  • Resizing  Screen Resolution for Specific Apps?

    Hello team,
Is it possible to resize screen resolution for specific applications? Most of my apps look fine at 1024x768, but there are a couple of older OS 9 apps that I need to run (talking school computers here) which are a bit on the small side when viewed at that resolution. Can I somehow set things so that when those applications are launched, the resolution changes to 800x600, and then reverts to 1024x768 when they're quit again? Any and all details about this will be most appreciated, and I thank you in advance for your help!

  • Locking Screen Resolution with KVM

I have a MacBook Pro 15" running 10.4.8. I have a Iogear DVI KVM attached to the DVI port. The monitor attached to the KVM is a Gateway FPD2485W 24" LCD with optimal resolution of 1920x1200. The Mac performs wonderfully at this resolution.
The problem I have is that when I switch away from the Mac with the KVM for more than a moment and then switch back, the Mac reverts to 1024x768 with a "KVM Monitor" profile in the Display Prefs. If I press "Detect Displays" after switching back, it once again properly recognizes my Gateway and then switches to the correct 1920x1200 resolution.
Is there any fix for this? Is there any way to "lock" the DVI port resolution somehow, or maybe to modify the "KVM Monitor" profile so it allows 1920x1200 resolution as well? Any other options to fix this? It is annoying to have to have the Mac detect the monitor and maximize my windows every time I switch back to it.
    Any help is appreciated!
    T.

I'm sorry, I've been investigating this as well. I use an ioGear KVM with VGA, the one that's shaped like the Mac mini I use it with. It has gotten worse. I find that I simply have to turn off sleep altogether, or else I find I'm switching to a blank screen on the mini. Sometimes I solved the problem by touching the sleep button and then waking it up. It seems to be in a forgetful coma.
Other irritations: if I'm away from the mini for a while, when I go back, there is the Bluetooth "wizard," looking for the USB keyboard and mouse. When I'm running Windows in Parallels, the problem is worse, freezing up Windows.
By turning off sleep, I've ameliorated the problem greatly. But I still will return to, in my case, not a 1280x1024 screen, but 640 x 480. Then it blacks out, and when it returns with my default setting, windows are only half as high: the desktop may be 1280x1024, but Safari looks like 1280x512. Grr.

  • Cannot change screen resolution on an Ultra 5 using m64config

I have an Ultra 5 with Solaris 2.6 connected to a Xerox XR6-19Dw 19" widescreen monitor with 1440x900 pixels. This workstation was set up a long time ago, so I do not know exactly how it has been set up. The screen resolution is set to 1280x1024x60 and it looks very blurry due to the mismatch between LCD pixels and the resolution setting. First I tried m64config -res 1440x900x76 try. This just turns the screen all white, luckily it reverts to the old setting after 10 seconds. Then just for fun I tried m64config -res 1280x1024x60. This also turned the screen all white. I have heard there is also a way to set the screen resolution using the boot prom, but that this is not necessary because m64config should work. It is very important that I do not mess up this workstation, but the eyestrain is a big problem. Is there a safe way to fix this?

Get a different monitor. Use one that is far less capable and has an old-style 4:3 screen ratio (not a wide screen).
The integrated graphics of the Ultra5/Ultra10 platform has only 4MB of frame buffer RAM and defaults to Sun's screen output of 1152x900 at 66Hz refresh. In fact, very early Ultra 5 systems had only 2MB of frame buffer RAM for the integrated graphics. The hardware is incapable of providing anything like what you are asking for.
If you don't care about color depth, the 1280x1024 resolution you currently see is the highest you're going to get. There is absolutely no chance for any wide-screen settings. If you ever hope for 24bit color, you will have to go down to the 1152x900 setting or more probably down to 1024x768.
You're system is a design from 1997 that first shipped to paying customers in 1998.
I think you are hoping for too much out of that dinosaur.

  • Change Screen Resolution = Mouse Pointer Disappears!

I am just moving to Arch from Ubuntu which i have used for several years. I am not a novice to linux, but I certainly don't know everything!
I installed arch on my pc last night, an old athlon xp with a radeon 9700 pro. I was going to try out KDE so I followed the beginners guide and successfully set it up. It booted and all was fine. Well except it set my resolution to 1024x768 and I wanted it at 1280x1024 which the monitor handles and is what I used in Ubuntu. So I opened the utility in KDE, based on xrandr I believe, and saw the 1280x1024 resolution. I selected it and Applied and the pointer disappeared. I could move my mouse and see the effects of the pointer hovering over buttons and other fields. So I managed to restart the machine thinking that would fix it, nope, still no dice. So I reverted to 1024x768 and all is good, except I would like to get more on my screen....
Also since I am more familiar with Gnome I thought I would remove kde and install gnome hoping it may make a difference. I successfully removed KDE and installed Gnome, went to change the resolution and had the same problem.
I am not sure what other pertinent information I can give. I will do my best to feed information to get this working. Thanks in advance.

    Any idea?
