M93p problem Display Port

Dear all,
i've purchase a M93p pc and when i try to connect it to a monitor or tv with the adapter cable DP - HDMI the monitor/tv says "no input signal", but works if i connect the vga port.
The M93 has the Intel HD 4600 videocard.
Thanks in advance for any tips.

I'm not sure how good those converter cables are. Lenovo sells adapters, rebranded Startech in the past, and recommends Belkin. I running a Startech passive DP to DVI on my M91p built-in DP.
This information made be of help: http://support.amd.com/en-us/recommended/eyefinity-adapters#k=
For your application, you want a Passive, single-link (if DVI), full-size (not mini) adapter. Is it possibe for you to borrow somebody's adapter to test?

  • Mini display port to HDMI problem...still happening, apple needs to help!

i read a lot about this topic and the question was marked answered, but there was no answer, sooo...
this is just a heads up to apple that this problem still exists and many people are still having it! Please do something... you put this mini display port on your computers... sold them to us... and now dont have software that lets it work... loosing a lil faith in apple today! there were 11 pages on this that i saw, i think it deserves a firmware update!
this next part is a direct copy of a post by sanktcolon and he explained the problem very well, so if your interested...
I figured I would just tell you all about my story. I do not have any solutions, the problem is still ongoing. But first I'd like to clear some confusion.
There seem to be a couple of people in this thread who thinks that when you experience this problem and you plug the HDTV with your MacBook through HDMI, you get a connection with the HDTV and can change the settings. This is not true. What happens is that the MacBook will flash its screen like it does when it detects a TV being connected, but then it will go back to normal. No connection established. Of course, there's people in this thread with different kinds of problems but with similarities. However, the main problem in this thread is quite clear and it's the same one that I have.
So with that out of the way, here's what happens for me and most people in this thread:
I've been using a Mini Display Port to HDMI adapter for quite a while and it has been working great. But lately I've been experiencing issues with it. There is nothing wrong with the adapter nor the cable, and certainly not the TV.
When I connect the adapter to the computer, the screen on the MacBook will flash blue, like it should, but it will not connect to the TV. What does this mean? It means that it detects the TV but is unable to establish a connection with it. Probably because it sends the wrong signals.
Now that's all pretty logical, but here comes the weird stuff. If I continue to try and re-establish a connection, either by plugging in and out the cable or changing HDMI-ports with the TV-remote (the MacBook re-detects when I switch from HDMI1 to HDMI2 and back), it will eventually establish a connection with the TV and work fine. Though, this can take minutes. Plenty of minutes. Last night I tried re-detecting for about 15 minutes and it didn't work. However, this morning it worked quite quickly.
So the problem is quite obviously with the MacBook/the OS and not with the adapter, cable or the TV. It's just ridiculous, and frankly quite annoying, to read posts where people claim you should get a new adapter. Why? Because there's so many people out there with different adapters, and people who have switched adapters and so on and so forth, that experience the exact problem I just describe. So either there's a problem with the MacBook/OS or there's a lot of TVs and adapters out there that are faulty. It's just illogical.
Once again I would like to remind you all that there's no connection, what so ever, between the TV and the MacBook when it doesn't establish one. And by establish I mean that you can actually see the screen on the TV. So bringing up the display settings won't do anything, search for devices on the TV or in the MacBook won't do anything. There just is not a TV there for the MacBook.
I have tried everything posted in this thread and the only thing that works for me is trying over, and over, and over, and over again until it just randomly works.

I too am having this same problem with my Macbook Air (Late 2010 Edition). I think this has something to do with OSX 10.6.6. Before the update, my mini display to HDMI was working flawlessly. Now, when I try to plug in to the TV my macbook just flashes the blue screen with no picture going to the TV what so ever. I'm not sure what was done with the update, but i'd sure like to be able to connect this machine to the TV again! APPLE, HEAR OUR VOICES! Fix this problem!

  • HDMI to Mini Display Port problem.

When I connect my MacBook Pro 13" (early 2011) to my TV using my HDMI to Mini Display Port adapter the MacBook just shuts off completely. I can use a VGA adapter no problem but I would like to get better picture quality from HDMI. Anybody have any ideas what the problem is?
    Thanks in advance.

Have you tried a different adapter/cable? This is where I would start. (see if you can borrow some).
You can also try these resets:

  • Problem with HDMI to mini display port

I have been using the HDMI adapter to mini-display port successfully with my TV for months.  I have a late 2011 Macbook Pro.  My brother borrowed the cable to use with my mom's 2013 Macbook Pro retina display and now the adapter won't work.  He could not get it to work with her Macbook and had not realised that it had HDMI input so used that instead.  Now he returned the adpater to me and it does not work!  I am running software version OS X 10.9.2.  I read about a lot of problems similar but they seem to relate to 10.8.2 software.  Can anyone help or advise me why my adapter has given

I have two adapters and both have stopped working after using them with the later (2013) Mac. I think it may have damaged them in some way!

  • Mini display port to DVI problems

    Hello community,
I have a question regarding the connection from an iMac via the mini display port to a DVI input at a TFT monitor. I have an older TFT monitor and now I connected the iMac with this monitor via mini display port -> DVI adapter -> DVI cable -> monitor.
It is quite a simple connection, but actually when I force Mac OSX to detect external monitors it does not react at all. Mac OSX behaves as if there is no connection to an external monitor.
I already told this to my reseller and they told me that the adapter is not working correctly and they gave me another one. With that one I have exactly the same problem and now I'm quite sure, that it is not a problem of the adapter, but somehow my iMac does not find the external monitor.
Is there probably an underlying problem I do not understand yet?
By the way, my very old Macbook White has no problems detecting the monitor. If I use the older video output it works fine, but the new output at my iMac 21,5 inch does not work with my monitor.
My question is, why does it not work and what kind of monitor do I need, that it can be connected with my iMac (via DVI)?

Is the adapter plugged in all the way in the Mini DisplayPort?  It takes more force than you might expect.

  • Output to display port Problems

    Hi,
    I have a X220 Tablet with a HP L2045w Monitor connected (Win 7/64).
Usually I connected the Monitor via Display port (with a Display port to Single DVI Adapter) which worked properly.
For a short while I needed the Display Port Adapter on aanother PC. So I switched the connection to VGA.
Now I got the Display Port adapter back and connected the Monitor again with the DVI, but the Monitor kept blank no matter what I tried. Checked Monitor settings and BIOS settings.
So I downloaded the newest video driver for my notebook and installed it. During installation the monitor suddenly startet to work. FN + F7 worked properly. After installation I was asked to restart the computer. After restart same problem again. Display stayed dark.
I can reaproduce this. Installing the display driver resolves the problem untill the next restart.
After the driver installation the HP L2045w is recognized in the resolution settings. After the restart I only see a VGA monitor as a choice.
If I connect a HP L1925 monitor to the Display port it works properly.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hi there MSPoettl,
I updated to the new firmware for the 24' when it was released. This largely fixed the problem, although the Lacie's fan makes a very airy noise as it blows. The image on the 24' led apple careen is stable, so good news there. However when plugging the MBair into the Lacie and then into a 27' iMac I still get occasional distortion.
    Good luck.

  • Thunderbolt/display port Problem?

I got my new replacement MacBook after my mid 2010 MacBook Pro died a horrible death last week, so the last thing I want is another problem that means I have to take my new MacBook back to the apple shop. But I can't seem to get it to pick up my external display.
My problem is that I have my Samsung Syncmaster T200 connected with the NEET display port-HDMI adaptor and it won't display anything on the monitor! I know it is picking the monitor up as when I click the 'gather windows' button in the display settings it pulls in the window that would be on the external display onto my MacBook's screen. It's also showing the correct model of monitor in that window and automatically setting it to the correct resolution, so my MacBook definitely recognises it.
I know that the adaptor works, as I was using it on the Mac Pro at college earlier today and I know the cable works (HDMI to DVI) as I was using it on my xbox earlier.
    I hope it's not a hardware issue
    Any suggestions?

  • Helix - Display port problem

To start, I have updated all drivers from the lenovo site.  I was using a second screen via display port to DVI and when I woke up the next day, it would no longer detect or identify the second monitor , but would say "2. Display port on:VGA."  It never said this before.
So, I took the second monitor to another laptop and it works fine.
I also went into the bios and changed the display configuration to all three settings.  Nothing!  This has become mind-boggling.  Any thoughts?

I tried to reinstall back to factory but nothing is working.  Can someone walk through the steps in case I might be missing something.  I searched the internet and it also sounds like a Windows update problem, but I have no idea.  Any help would be great.

  • Problem with mac pro 2x2.93 GHZ Dual Core and Mini Display Port

Finally I see the button to create new post!
I would like to explain a problem I have with my mac pro 2x2.93 GHZ Dual Core Intel Xeon processors and the ATI Radeon HD 4870.
I have two 30 "Apple. After buying the new Mac Pro is one of the two monitors, only with the monitor all black, small horizontal lines.
This happens only to the monitor connected to the mini display port... So if you reverse it monitors the problem always moves on the board connected to the Mini Display Port.
Apple has already changed my video card and the adapter but the problem is still there.
Someone can tell me if it is the ATI Radeon HD 4870 that has problems to have two monitors 30 "? Or it could be that the mini display port that is hard to read the two monitors and when the background is black (RGB-255-255-255) makes these lines?
Through the Apple store I then bought a new card (EVGA GeForce GTX 285 "). Unfortunately, after three weeks of waiting is not yet arrived. Proof that I want to do before returning to telephone assistance is whether on a card that has two dual-link DVI ports normal all goes well.
Sorry for the repetition of messages, but my English is very bad. This is the first time I connect to this site support

In any case, this system does not support two 30".
I honestly don't think the 4870 with that adapter can support two 30". Just using the adapter itself would not give me the normal resolutions on my 30, where as the DVI port did. Luckily for me the adapter worked fine on my 20".
Truly I don't know why Apple would sell a card and not say just what displays it can power.
So I worked around my problem fine but I chose to get the 285 also. My question to you though is, did Apple make you pay for it? Was it part of a deal with them because the Radeon didn't work? You might want to talk to them about that. That is one expensive card.

  • Edge 91 display port problem

Hi All, can anyone help me with this problem. I have a Lenovo Edge 91 desktop computer and I want to set up a dual screen  using onboard  VGA and onboard display port that uses cable display port adapter for dvi connection.  The problem is both VGA and DVI (using display port adapter) has a display on bios, post message and welcome screen. But on windows only monitor using VGA connection has the display. The monitor using DVI (display port adapter) has no signal message on screen. I have tested the display adapter is working, not a problem. Please help me with this one. Thank you.

First, check that you have the latest BIOS and video display driver. Use the search engine above right, search on "displayport", there are a number of recent threads with useful information. If then it is still not working, post specific information on your adapter, and what you've tried.

  • Mini Display Port to HDMI sound problem

I have an iMac 11, 2 (MacOS X, 10.6.8).  The Mini Display Port is supposed to be able to carry sound, (using a Monoprice Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Converter with Audio, and HDMI cord supporting 3D, and Audio Return.)  I am playing downloaded movies with VLC, which works fine on the computer.  When I try to burn DVD disc using Toast Titanium, I get video, but no sound.  So, I figure I can watch movies on my Vizio 42" TV screen with the MiniDisplayPort to HDMI cord.  I learned that to use the MiniDisplayPort I have to go to click the box for Mirror Display.  In System Preferences--- Sound---- Output Tab, the only two choices are:  Headphones...... Headphone Port, and E3D420VX....... HDMI, neither of which seem to help "push" sound through the MiniDisplayPort.
So, I give up and watch the movie on the Vizio screen (through the HDMI cord), while listening to sound on the little computer speakers.  After watching a couple of movies, and then not doing anything for a few minutes, all of a sudden the movie starts replaying off the play list, and lo and behold..... sound coming through the TV speaker system!!!  (So, I know the HDMI cable is capable of carrying audio.)
If any one can help me figure out how to get sound through the HDMI cord all the time,  it would be greatly appreciated!

  • Mini Display to Display Port Problem

Ok so I have the mini display output in my MacBook pro and currently I just use a VGA adaptor but I presume this won't yield best results. So since my HP HD monitor has a Display Port I thought the best idea was to get a mini display to display port cable.
However when I plus it in it all goes a bit weird. The screen on the MacBook flicksmonnand off and no signal goesntonthe monitor. Occasionally it does get a signal and switches on from standby but nothing actually shows up.
Any ideas or will I have to resort to a mini display to dvi lead instead?

  • X301 display port problems

I have X301 (2776-LEG) connected to HP w2228h 22" monitor. I tried to connect them using a display port to HDMI cable adaptor so display port on X301 & HDMI on monitor.
This should work fine but whenever I connect it my X301 just flashes and constantly swaps display between the x301 monitor and the external one.

How can I connect the display port to an HDMI beamer? How about the sound? I tried to buy a DP2HDMI cable in Vienna, but did not succeed. Where did you get the adapter from? Does the quality improve on a WXGA+ compatible beamer?

  • P2415Q - No display over DVI, HDMI. No menu. Worked perfectly for one month over display port

Reason Line: Dell P2415Q. After one month working perfectly over display port, no display on screen over Display Port or HDMI, no response to menu buttons, backlight and power LED on but no image on screen.
    Problem Description
The monitor worked out of the box for one month using the display port to mini display port cable provided with the monitor, which was plugged into my XFX 7970 and 7950 graphics cards. It supported 4K at 60Hz and was exceptional for photos, videos and games. On Wednesday the monitor stopped working, no image or menu is displayed on the monitor. I plugged in my old monitor to help diagnose via DVI from the same graphics card. When I press the power button on the Dell P2415Q monitor, the power LED lights up and the computer detects the monitor (as shown in the windows screen resolution menu). It sets it as a secondary display but the monitor remains black, I can see the power LED and backlight is on. No power saving mode popup appears on the monitor, when I press the menu buttons there is no response from the screen, it remains black. I repeated with a HDMI cable the same issue occurs with no response or image. I repeated and disabled crossfire (which allows the graphics cards to function independently) and tried the second graphics card with no response. I tested the HDMI cable I used on my old LG monitor, it works well. I have tried connecting a laptop over HDMI to the monitor too, with no response from the monitor. I have exhausted all the tests I can think of, I presume I will have to return the monitor for repair or replacement under warranty. A question to the dell rep and community - is there anything else I can try / do to get it working?

Operating System: Windows 7, 64 Bit.
Video Card: XFX 7970 and XFX 7950 in Crossfire (tested separately, monitor produces fault with both).
Video Card Driver: 14.12 AMD Catalyst Driver (rolled back to older driver, monitor still produces fault).
Video Card Output Ports: Tested with miniDP and HDMI on both cards, with crossfire enabled and disabled. Monitor still produces fault.
Video Card Cable: miniDP to DP cable provided with monitor. HDMI cable, tested with alternate monitor to confirm it functions correctly.
Monitor Menu Button: Non responsive, when power is turned on the computer successfully detects the Dell P2415Q monitor, the backlight turns on but no image appear on the screen. Pressing the menu buttons yields no result - menu does not appear on the screen. Power LED is on.
Monitor Purchase: Purchased from Overclockers.co.uk March 2015.

    * Turn the monitor off
    * Disconnect all cables from the monitor including the power cable
    * Press the monitor power button in for 15 seconds
    * Reconnect the monitor cables and re-test. If still no go, your only option is to get it exchanged per the purchased warranty
    * But first the service tag must be transferred into your name using this form

  • Mini display port to HDMI - negative picture issue

I bought a new Macbook Pro 13,3 inch laptop last week and added a 120 GB ssd and 8 GB of RAM. I'm loving it!
Something I'm not loving however is the issue with the Mini Display Port / Thunderbolt when connecting with a MDP-HDMI adaptor. I watch a lot of movies and so hooking the computer up to my Sony BRAVIA 46 inch TV is quite important. Everytime I do the picture and sound are great! For about 5 minutes... then the picture goes "negative" you know that turqoise look?? Like a negative image. The sound is still there, the picture is just affected. To remedy I have to turn the tv off and restart the movie. Very annoying doing this ever 4-5 minutes!!
Is there a fix of some sort? Apple should really release an update for this.
    Thanks!

sounds more like a hardware failure.
Try a different monitor to see if the problem persists, in which case that would point to a bad video card... or try a different source with your monitor(another computer), and if the problem persists, that would indicate a problem with the monitor
