Mac 10.5.2 + Sharp-Copier Printer+Problems

*Printing issues with Mac 10.5.2 + Sharp-Copier Printer*
Currently experiencing problems with the Mac OS 10.5.2 and Sharp network copier printer working together. Searching the web for the current drivers, and could only find the drivers for Mac OSX 10.4 Anyone know of another “third party driver” or other Sharp driver that would work for the network printer?
Printer: Sharp-AR-M33N
Model:C3310
Any suggestions

I couldn't find any information on this particular model either from Google or on the Sharp USA site. Frequently, manufacturers will use or emulate the PCL 5 or PCL 6 printer languages. If the unit is black and white only, you could try the generic PCL Gutenprint drivers. If the unit is color, try the generic PCL drivers from the hpijs package. _http://www.linux-foundation.org/en/OpenPrinting/MacOSX/hpijs_

  • Any Mac expert who can solve my Printing problem? PLEASE HELP!!!!

So I am asking this again... I have a Samsung 4200 SCX Series printer. It was able to print everything properly till the 14th of April when I installed the latest Security update and the thing stopped working after that (When I give a print command, it just Pauses.... Then when I resume it again, it doesn't respond, just stays there) ... I also noticed that the name of my Mac changed to XXX (3) from XXX (2) after that update, so I am thinking it's the culprit here.. I dunno if it's related, but I just thought I put it forward.
I also went to Printer and Fax settings in my System Preferences and reseted my Printer and changed the LOCATION name to the new name but no solution... I tried even installing the drivers manually, but the thing just PAUSES!!!!
And before doubting my printer, I also have Windows installed via bootcamp and the printer works fine with it, it's only the Mac creating an issue.
I got some response of people asking for the log file about it, so I am posting the last 10-20 line...

Hey Rodney, the name changed after I installed the latest security patch... And it's not only me, it's a common problem.. Here check it out...

And what exactly does this deleting System pref files does??? What does setting up network again imply... You mean just adding the password and selecting the net name of my wifi don't you?? Cause I would hate to reset all those MAC address and other stuff (I really don't have much knowledge about those so wouldn't like to tamper with those).
    Anyways, thanks.

I'm having similar problems with an HP OfficeJet 6500. One suggestion that improved the situation, but did not totally solve the problem, was to select "OfficeJet Pro L7700" for its drivers.
One other suggestion is to turn off the printer, then simultaneously hold down the "#" and "9" keys and turn the printer back on. This hot key seems to reset the printer to factory defaults, allowing you to set things up anew.
Finally, kvetch to HP. Their networking software clearly has problems in its relationship to OSX, but nobody on either side seems motivated to bring in a good therapist.

How do I get my Mac, G5, 10.5.8, to print?  Printer tech support thinks it is a computer problem.  Any ideas?

    Hi Dwayne,
If necessary (unless your operating system already contains the printer software needed), a downloadable driver for a Deskjet 5420v Photo Printer (is this the exact model?) and Mac OS 10.5 appears to exist according to the support web page below:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=1105187&lc=en&cc=us& dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us
To begin with, have you verified that the printer is able to print at all (that the print cartridges are OK, et cetera)? This can usually be done by trying to print a test page (from the computer) via an HP printer utility, or possibly by generating a self-test page (without a connected computer) using an appropriate button combination on the printer itself.

  • Printing problems with InDesign CS3 with Mac OS 10.6.3

I am not new to InDesign... I have CS3... but I am brand new to Mac Snow Leopard (OS 10.6.3).  Although I can open CS3 and use the application, I cannot print with it.  None of my other applications has printing issues... just CS3.  Any suggestions?
    Richard

    Hi again Peter
It is version 5.0.4.  I updated it when I newly installed it a week ago in my new computer, and then again updated it just yesterday.
I might mention that before I got my new computer, I was running Mac OS 4.11, and was using InDesign 3.0.  I had bought InDesign CS3 about a year ago, but hadn't gotten around to using it since version 3.0 had been working fine, and I was used to it.  Then, when I got my new computer, I decided it was time to use the newer version.  However, while using InDesign 3.0 with the old Mac OS 4.11, a printing problem popped up there, too, a few months ago... and it also involved printing problems with Adobe Reader.  I contacted Adobe, and they sent me a patch which fixed it.  I will contact Adobe again if need be, although I thought I'd start here first to see if it was a common enough problem that someone might be able to provide a free and routine answer.

I neglected to ask what version of indesign CS3 you are using. I also
notice that Mac OSX 10.6.4 has just been released. It actually
addresses some CS3-specific issues, though they seem to be related to
launching the apps, not printing. It may be worth trying to update,
    nonetheless.

Nothing else. As both printers are doing identical prints I guess it is something the Mac is telling them to do
    Or not.
Assuming your ink cartridges are in the correct order/positions, and you haven't select white as a font colour, this is a bit of a mystery.
But as it prints something, it is a printer driver/printer problem, or the cables they are connected by.

  • Mac 10.6.5 HP LaserJet 1022 printing problem persists

    Hi All,
I still couldn't get my HP 1022 prints after updating to 10.6.5 where the release said it fixes some HP printer problem connected to Airport Extreme. (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4250) Mine is connected to Airport extreme too. Installed the 2.5.2 HP printer update too!!
When I print document with multiple pages, the alert LED started blinking after printer the first few pages... Sigh... I did those reset printing system procedures and restarted my Airport extreme... no dice...
Wanna ask if other HP LJ 1022 printer owner has got their problem solved or not.
    Thanks

    Hello,
    *BUGS IN UPDATE OS-X 10.6.5*
Updating new or older Intel Mac's to snow leopard to 10.6.5 will result in problems
with several HP printers (both wired and wireless with airport express basestion).
It doesn't mather if you also update the HP-printersoftware to version 2.5.2.
    The problem exists...
After printing only one page, all the lights on the printer itself are flashing
(see also youtube video from German Apple users: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0s7gZYA2Kj4)
No more than one page is printing.
And the printer won't print anymore, untill you turn it off and back on (hard reset).
    SOLUTION
Connect the HP printer (for instance the HP 1022) wired to your Apple Intel computer.
Choose the Gutenprint driver (in stead of the HP driver 1.3.0.261) when adding a (standard)
    printer in System preferences.
The printer will now work fine.
Unfortunately the Gutenprint driver won't work in combination with with wireless printing
to a HP printer with a airport express basesation.
    *EPSON printing problems*
Other printer problems are reported with professional Epson large format printers.
Several Epson drivers won't work in OS-X 10.6.4 and in 10.6.5
Not directly and not tru a RIP printing server (Windows or Mac).
The temporary solution is choosing a general post script printer driver,
in stead of the Epson driver, when adding a printer in system preferences.
    Good luck!

  • Printing problems with InDesign CS3 running on OS 10.6

I recently upgrade my old G4 Mac (OS 10.4) to a new Mac Mini running OS 10.6.6. I am still running CS3 and have encountered only one problem. When I print multiple copies documents from InDesign that contain several layers, each copy is processed separately, so that it can take several minutes just to send the print job to the printer if I'm printing over 20 copies. Then once the print job is processed the printer pauses between every copy, which is tripling the printing time. If I print a simpler document with only one or two layers it processes all the copies at once, as it should. I am printing on an Okidata 6150 color laser printer.
I never had this problem on my old computer. I'm wondering if this is one of the "unsupported" bugs of running CS3 on Snow Leopard. I want to make sure that this is a problem unique to running CS3 with Snow Leopard before I go ahead and upgrade to CS4 or CS5.

  • How to Resolve Printing Problems?

    Mac OS X 5.6
    HP LaserJet 2300L
    1. Printing takes several minutes to find printer.
    2. A large X appears over printer icon.
    3. What does that mean?
HP website says printer not supported.
    4. Is there an updated driver for this printer?
Printer prints ok, but above issues are problem.
    Thanks!
    GeorgeBetty

The printer is listed among those with driver support in this Support
document as found in Apple Support:
Mac OS X 10.5.3: Printer driver included in HP Printer Driver Update v 1.1.1:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1893
{The drivers listed for Tiger 10.4.x appear to include ones for this series of
HP Printer; though I don't know of they are compatible with Leopard. Did
you see if those noted in the HP's Printer drivers pages online show one
    for your model, and have you tried one from its class, as a test?}
There may be third party drivers available for certain classes of HP printers
and these could work for several models, even if the specific one you have
is not necessarily listed by itself. Try Gimp Print open source drivers; they
likely are also be found under Gutenprint in a search; they should be free.
' HP LaserJet 2300L gimp print Mac OS X driver ' - google search:
    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=HPLaserJet+2300L+gimp+print+Mac+OS+Xdriver&btnG=Search
Other online topic search by similar (not gimp) methods show forums, etc:
    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=HPLaserJet+2300L+Mac+10.5+Driver&btnG=GoogleSearch&aq=f&oq=
The gutenprint or gimp print drivers for Mac OS X may work even if
the model shown is not exactly your model of printer. Or, there may
be other printer drivers available. In some OS X versions, the drivers
were on an optional installation, when available. Perhaps not in 10.5.
My printers worked OK, but I had to get a huge download from HP
for an all-in-one fax, printer, copier, scanner unit since the CD it had
was obsolete when shipped for 10.4 & Later OS X. The Epson is
better, since it can be seen as a wireless printer via USB AirPort
as a bonjure printer; so all wireless Macs here can use it.
Good luck & happy computing, in any event!

  • Strange HP Printer Problem

Using Deskjet 5150 and Officejet 5510 with 10.4.5. No problems for many months. Then put through 2 large ( around 60 pages each ) docs on the Deskjet 5150. The 5150 printed out those 2 docs with all the graphics ( maps, graphs, logos ) as rubbish. The 5510 still prints ok and the 5150 prints perfectly ok via my PC ! Reset the whole printer queue as HP advise and of course lost all my drivers. Deleted the HP folder in Printers. Did a combo offline upgrade to 10.4.6 but the drivers and folder never came back. Printer Setup Utility asks for actual driver to be selected - I dont remember it doing that previously. Copied drivers and folder from 10.4.5 clone. Now back to same situation where the 5150 refuses to print graphics properly.
Anybody know what has caused this and how to fix it ?
Have left Printer unplugged, repaired permissions etc.
Spent hours on this - please help !

    Hi, D. G.
I don't have either HP printer, but here's a couple of ideas.
    1. What is unclear in your post is the application from which you are printing the document or the type of document file.
Without knowing the details, assuming the document is a word processing document, e.g. Word, you could print the document to PDF and then print the PDF. Check the resulting PDF first, then print some test pages from it to the 5150 to see if using PDF gets around whatever problem printing the source document from its application is having with the 5150.
I'm assuming in the above that the 5150 is directly connected to your Mac and not a base-station printer, i.e. one shared by connecting it to an AirPort base station.
    2. You wrote: "Deleted the HP folder in Printers. Did a combo offline upgrade to 10.4.6 but the drivers and folder never came back. Printer Setup Utility asks for actual driver to be selected - I dont remember it doing that previously. Copied drivers and folder from 10.4.5 clone."The first step in this series was a major mistake. Then, your attempts to correct the problem went down the wrong path.
After deleting the HP Printers folder, you could have reinstalled the HP printers folder using the instructions in "Custom installs in Mac OS X 10.4" then, as an extra precaution, either:
    • Reapplied the 10.4.6 Combo Update in case there were HP printer driver updates distributed since the drivers were published on the Tiger Install DVD.
    • Downloaded updated drivers, if any, from HP.
    Good luck!

  • Wireless Printing Problems

    Hi
I have an early 2011 Macbook Pro connected to an Asus RT-N13U wireless router. I have a Canon Pixma MP210 printer that I have tried to setup for wireless printing via the USB port in the router. I thought I had it sorted as the printer will print a test page. However, when I try to print a document, the print queue just says "copying print data" and will go no further.
I'm using Mac OS X v10.7.2 and the Canon printer driver is v2.7 (this driver recently downloaded via the Apple software update, but the same problems occurred with v2.6 too). When I set up the printer, I click + in the Print & Scan window of system preferences, select IP and then the following:
Protocol - Line Printer Daemon - LPD
Address - IP address of router
    Queue - LPRServer
I then enter a name and location and then from "Print Using" I choose "select printer software" and then select the entry for my printer as named above and click ok.
If I then print a test page, it works, but as I say, any "normal" document won't.
If I try auto-select at the Print Using stage, it auto-selects "Generic PostScript Printer" and the message this time when I try to print is that the printer is busy (rather than copying data). There's no option with this driver to print a test page.
Finally, when I log on to my router, the network map shows my printer is present with text stating the printer name (even before I've added it as a printer on my mac - so something somewhere is recognising it) and "Enabled".
Any thoughts on how to make this work? Or should I just get used to getting up of the sofa and plugging in a USB cable?
    Thanks

When you have a Canon inkjet printer connected to the USB port of a router, print server or shared via Windows, you cannot use the Canon provided driver. For these types of connections you need to use a driver that is designed to work, such as those from Gutenprint or PrintFab. Gutenprint is preferred because it is free, however looking at the supported models list for the latest version of Gutenprint, the MP210 is not listed as a supported model. So you could try using one of the other Canon-Gutenprint models, such as the MP150. If you are not able to find a compatible Gutenprint driver for the MP210 then you may have to go down the Printfab path. This software suite does cost €49 but at least it lists the MP210 as a supported printer.

  • Airport Extreme Printing Problem with HP Deskjet.

Hello ... I wonder if any helpful folks can assist me with my printing problem? I am using Tiger on a new Intel imac with a HP Deskjet 960C. This printer is listed as having the latest drivers included within Tiger and works perfectly when connected via USB so my problem I guess is not with the software....I have disconnected everything and plugged everything back together again. I also deleted the printer from the printer list within the Printer Setup Utility application.... The imac recognisies the printer and upon pressing the print button everything feels as though its just going to work. The blue barber shop scroll appears but the printer fails to kick into gear and I get the big red exclamation mark appearing in the status box .... I would really love to try and sort this annoying error ... Any ideas? Thanks. Book G4   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

Hello jds17. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Unfortunately, not all USB printers are compatible with AirPort base stations.
Take a look at one of these iFelix Unofficial AirPort Printer Compatibility links, depending on which AirPort base station you have:
o 802.11g AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS) or AirPort Express Base Station (AX)
o 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn)
If your printer isn't listed, it doesn't necessarily mean it won't work, but simply that it has not been verified. iFelix also provides the following workaround for printers not on the list that would certainly be worth a try.
Also, you may find the following Apple article helpful.
