When I try to open iTunes on my MAC it states I need to update. After updating, it closes and when I open again, I get the same updates. When I choose to not update, I get the error code (-42408). What can I do now?

What is your iTunes version? The error message indicates missing ressources or software conflicts.
Did you try to downgrade from iTunes version '11 to '10?

  • Mac Book Hardware Test Error Codes?

After running the HW test utility on my Mac Book it registered this error - 4HDD/11/40000004:SATA(0.0) - what does it mean? Are the error code listed anywhere?

Hi CBJR: That error code indicates a problem with your hard drive or the interface for the hard drive. Sounds like it's time for a visit to an Apple store to have them look at it.

For anyone that comes across this. I managed to fix the problem. It had something to do with the date on my computer. Mavericks installer apparently does a date check of some sort and that is where the error is coming from. Open terminal and check the system date. It may be wrong. Another poster in the forums told me how to to check the date and change it. Click here for the link to the explanation. Be careful because the date is in a weird format.

  • Help, I can't restore my iphone 5S, my Mac shows a error code of 3014, help!

I can't restore my iphone 5S as my Mac gives me an error code 3014. Help!

Thank you for your timely response. I did this several times before, however the words "gs.apple..." did not appear each and every time. My terminal box had everything else in place as shown in the demonstration. I thought I could simply "restore" within the phone by itself, but I cannot locate that feature. Any other help is greatly appreciated! Thank!

  • CC error code

I'm using a Solaris 5.8 workstation, and I'm attempting to compile a C++ application which uses a C library, glpng. Building the application without glpng and disabling the code which utilizes this library works fine. However, once glpng is added to the make files, I get the following error (some specifics have been left out for brevity and security purposes):
    % make
    CC -g -o ../test/program [multiple *.o files] [additional directives]
ild: Fatal error -- signal 11. Exiting.
    *** Error code 245
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `../test/program'
My boss has asked me to look into this problem and see if I can figure anything out (he wrote the code, and apparently the code compiles and links just fine on Windows (MSVS) and Mac), specifically concerning this "Error code 245". It looks like everything compiles just fine, just there's a (nondescript) linking problem. I'm on unfamiliar ground here, as I haven't had too much experience working with Solaris or doing interlanguage linking. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    - Jeff

The incremental linker (ild) has historically been somewhat buggy, and is not necessary for program development.
Try adding the option -xildoff to CC command lines that do any linking. You will then use the system linker ld instead of ild.
In any case, you are using the original, unpatched compiler and tools. Installing all the current patches would not be a bad idea. You can get them from the Sun Studio patch page:

  • Unanticipated Error (error code -10810)

I would very much appreciate iff someone could direct me to where I can obtain information on Mac OS X system error codes -and- specifically error code -10810.
I Have spent several hours searching through the labyrinthine Apple Customer Support site (e.g., Discussions forums, and etc.) as well as the Apple Developer Connection site without success in running down a definative reference for OS X system error codes, or the specific error code (-10810).
REASON FOR REQUEST: Recently, the following error is frequently occurs.
"The operation could not be completed. An unanticipated error occurred (error code -10810)."
    -and-
"The application "xxx.app" cannot be launched. An unanticipated error occurred (error code -10810)."
(where xxx is the name of whatever App. am attempting to launch)
Restarting the computer temporarily "cures' the error problem, but the problem eventually reoccurs.
SYSTEM: Mac Pro, OSX 10.4.11 with all current updates (security, etc.). 10Gb RAM.
Disk Utility verify of startup HD showed no problems/errors. Permissions checked and repaired - appear OK.

    iBod, Kappy - good day.
Thank you for assistance - much appreciate.
Have apparently fixed the problem, but in a seemingly unusual way.
Had nagging feeling that the problem was in permissions as was also seeing 'glitches' accessing directories (Admin and Non-Admin modes).
    Here is what I did:
BACKGROUND: Had problems with Leopard 10.5.1 (installed on a second internal HD) with the Finder restarting when trying to adjust permissions. Found the following article referenced on Discussions Forums for Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard:
"Mac OS X 10.5: Finder may restart when trying to change file permissions"
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=307128
Following the instructions in article fixed the permissions problem in Leopard.
APPARENT SOLUTION TO SUBJ LAUNCHER PROBLEM:
Applied same solution to Tiger (10.4.11) as recommended (extract next under) for Leopard. In Terminal (Admin account):
sudo dscl . create /Groups/username GroupMembership username
    [return]
sudo dscl . change /Groups/username RecordName username _username
    [return]
Replace the "username" with your account username (which is also the name of the user's Home folder, in the Users folder). Remember to include the underscore "_" before your user name in the second command. If you have more than one account on the computer affected by this issue, you should run these two commands again for each account, substituting with the appropriate user name each time.
Note - I found that you must type username exactly the same as is indicated on your home directory icon (same case and etc.).
I then restarted and used disk utility to verify/fix Tiger startup HD permissions. Been using Mac for several hours now without any recurrence of -10810 error.
This rates a cautiously optimistic Hooah!
    Again thanks for assist. v/r

  • Help, Error Code -36

ok I keep trying to transfer large video files from an external Firewire hard drive to a my second internal hard drive. and after a while the file transfer stops because of Error code-36 It says "The finder cannot complete the operation because some data in "blank" could not be read or written. (Error code -36)"
    few things to point out
All hard drives are formatted "Mac OS Extended (journaled)"
The files are video files ".mov"
The files are larger than 4GB
and it freezes after transfering 1.97GB

How is the external drive formatted, HFS or some windows format (FAT32 for instance)?
Check [here|http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/badastronomy/2008/03/30/mac-os-tip-for- error-code-36] for a suggested solution, that may work.
Also, try trashing the Finder's pref file in the folder /Users/Library/Preferences. Find the file "com.apple.finder.plist", send it to Trash (empty the Trash, if you want) and reboot.
    Also check the FW cable.
    /p

  • Error code -36 when copying to Mac formatted external drive

I'm trying to move my iPhoto library to an external drive to save space on my iMac's hard drive. It starts to copy it fine but after a few minutes stops with the error "The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “iPhoto Library” can’t be read or written. (Error code -36)"
The external drive is an iomega minimax and is formatted as "Mac OS extended (journaled)". I'm running Mac OS 10.6.3 and the iPhoto Library is for iPhoto '08 version 7.1.5.
    Help! Thanks.

Kids birthday party today - sorry about the delay in replying.
This is an interesting problem, if disk integrity and space are not the problem.
My next step would be to use the command line to copy the library to your external disk. To do this, open Terminal and type:
    cp -R ~/Pictures/iPhoto\ Library /volumes/yourextenaldiskname/Pictures/
Note that, if you have any spaces in your external disk name, you will need to put a backslash in front of the spaces.
Let me know how it goes.
    Cheers,
    Rodney

I had an 8GB 1st gen iPod in it's original box in storage and just took it out to hook it up.  Charged it overnight, plugged it into new Mac Book Pro and it was recognized as being an iPod in recovery but other identifying information was all indicated as "n/a" (so, unknown OS, etc).  Error code 1604 came up so I downloaded iTunes on the Mac Book and it is currently showing version 10.  But now when I try to restore the iPod, error code 1611 comes up and the troubleshooting doesn't tell me what else to try.  The USB connector that came with the iPod was also never used before - brand new also from the box so that should be fine.  I also tried a different USB port on the Mac Book.  Any ideas?

Hi, I got my Mac in 2009 with photoshop elements on it - it's recently been wiped, however before the process we put Photoshop onto a hard drive, we then copied it back over and it no longer works, I'm getting error code 150:30 and I'm being asked for a password... any ideas how to get it working again?

You can never, never migrate an installed copy of PSE. It's just too complex and you can't get to all the bits and bobs.
First you will have to download and run this:
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
which will not seem to do anything, but is necessary to break the links within PSE so that you can pitch the bits manually. Then you will have to go around, not only to applications, but also to your username>library>preferences and most importantly to the library at the top level of your hard drive>application support>adobe, and remove everything you can find. Spotlight will not help with this kind of search, so don't try that.
Then you can install PSE from scratch.
