What's problem on my MacPro?

kernel panic, machine check, status 4 or 5, Uncorrected error is an uncorrectable (typically double-bit error) RAM Memory Error in a Mac Pro with Error Correcting Code ECC Memory.
If you get lucky, the Address or the exact DIMM can be detected. You were not lucky in this report.
If the same DIMM is detected bad at Startup, it (and its partner) will be marked "absent", and you will see that it is missing.
If errors are being corrected before an uncorrectable error occurs, you can see those corrected errors show up:

  • Mac won't start (Kernel Panics)

    Hello,
My mac won't start up. It turns on, gets as far as the spinning circle and apple logo then a dark screen comes down with a Kernel Panic message. This occurred roughly three months ago and I ended up taking the mac into the regent street store where it was fixed under apple care warranty. My care has now run out, and the 90 day repair warranty has expired but the problem is back so obviously hasn't been fixed properly. Is there anything that can be done about this?
Every time I boot up the computer the message appears, I have tried rebooting with the safe option as well as re installing OSX from the original disks. The install completes successfully but upon restart it pops up with the original kernel panic message.
Luckily I have everything backed up so am prepared to try anything to get it running.
    Thanks.

Let us know, but since you obviously have another machine, have you tried Target Disk Mode and then Disk Utility?
use TDM to access Disk Utility.
    1. Click the First Aid tab.
    2. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    3. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    4. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk.
    Please post back,

  • Mac Pro 4,1 kernel panic - restarts on its own

I have a Mac Pro 4,1 that will not finish the start up process   It kernel panics at the end of the process. It will then do a restart on its own and kernel panics again.
What's the best way to figure out what's wrong with it?  HDs? Processor ? Or the RAM? I have not changed anything for a long time.
    Thanks

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Mac Pro restarts with kernel panic error during Adobe Premiere CS6 or Adobe Media Encoder CS6 render/encode.

Multiple times this week, my Mac Pro at work has been restarting during renders in Adobe Media Encoder CS6 and Adobe Premiere CS6. This seems to be specific on this computer only. Identical computers don't have this problem. Here is the system report after it reboots to OS X:

That doesn't look like a complete panic report. Is there any more to it? Regardless, I suggest you run the extended form of the Apple Hardware Test. If it fails to identify a fault, remove the RAM upgrade and test with the original RAM.

  • Mac Pro 3,1 Kernel Panic on mountain lion

    Hi Everyone,
I see there are a lot of posts out there but I'm not sure where to turn exactly. Any help is really appreciated. I have a Mac Pro 3,1 and moved from 10.6.8 to 10.8.2 and have kernel panics on the gray start up screen. I can boot up in safe mode.
I have a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT, 6GB RAM. I saw that there is a driver from NVIDIA (Retail-304.00.05f02-macos.dmg), which I installed but it didn't help.
Here's the last kernel panic log:

Either the dongle or the driver extension is not compatible with Mountain Lion. If I were you I'd uninstall the software or at least navigate to the /System/Library/Extensions/ folder, locate the driver file. CTRL- or RIGHT-click and select Move to Trash from the context menu. DO NOT try dragging it to the Trash as that won't work. Then restart the computer.
Visit the site of the manufacturer of the USB dongle to see if they have updated software you can install that is compatible with Mountain Lion. From my recent searches there aren't very many that have anything tested beyond Lion.

  • Mac Pro Mountain Lion Kernel Panic Dual Video Cards

I've been getting constant panics since upgrading to Mountain lion on my 2009 Mac Pro.
Worth noting is I have dual GT 120 Video Cards and dual 30" LCDs.  Every panic seems to be caused by com.apple.NVDAResman
This computer has been rock solid since 2009 and only after "updating" to Mountain Lion has it become unstable.
Was hoping 10.8.1 and 10.8.2 would fix the issued, but neither have.  It's worse than ever.  Crashing every day.
Already reinstalled the OS, tested the RAM, etc.  No change.  Still crashes everyday.
What should I do?  It's really eating into productivity...

    I have the same problem

  • Intel Mac Mini Core Solo - Kernel Panic on Boot

I was wondering if anyone who has purchased the Intel Mac Mini is having issues with Kernel Panics during the booting sequence?
I got a Core Solo from the local Apple store (couldn't wait to play, I'm waiting on the Core Duo I ordered online to come still ). The first thing I did was fire it up check it out for a few minutes, then I put the install disc in and reinstalled a clean OS, with less options because I'm planning on hooking it up to my TV so I don't need space hogs like Garageband etc on my TV computer. I got the updates that popped up, then shutdown the computer. I took it out to the living room and hooked it up to the tv and I got a black message about needing to restart (a kernel panic) right when the blue progress loading bar comes up on boot. I spent a while with it trying to figure out what was wrong, ran the Apple Hardware Test, booted it fine in Safe Boot. Finally I got tired of it and reinstalled the OS again.
It was fine for a day, working fine out on the tv. I brought it back in my room to play with a few things like Darwine, etc. Shut it down, came back an hour or so later booted it up and got the kernel panic on boot. Safe boot still worked fine. I spent some time trying to look for panic logs but didn't see any. I ran the disk utility and did a Full erase and it worked fine. I reinstalled the OS again. Ran MemTestOSX and it worked fine. I left it running the Apple Hardware Test for about 6 hours or more, and it performed perfectly.
This morning it still seemed ok, except sometimes on a cold boot when the blue progress bar screen should come on... my monitor just shows black and the light on the monitor goes inactive. So, I press the button on the back to sleep it, then bring it out of sleep with the keyboard and the OS is sitting there booted.
It seems like a weird combination of software and hardware problems, but maybe it's all hardware problems. I can't get past Safe Boot working when the OS stops loading. Right now the computer is working fine.
I'm waiting for my Core Duo to come in the mail and verify that it works flawlessly, then I'll take the Solo to the store and ask them to look at it.
Anyone have any similar experiences so far?

It seems like the mini is doing alright so far. I think maybe the full erase solved whatever issue it was having. I also got my Core Duo Mini yesterday in the mail and it's performing like a champ. Definitely a nice machine.
I'll close my question for now, since the Core Solo Mini seems alright. But, as a warning don't get on Front Row's bad side. I tried force quitting it because it was taking too long to load the videos folder and then tried shutting down from a terminal and ended up having to turn the machine off.

  • Mac Mini mid 2011 kernel panic with Lion Internet Recovery

My Mac Mini froze while using Safari and watching a youtube video, so I restarted the machine by holding down the power button, then on startup I reloaded Safari, and it completely froze again. This time around, I got a kernel panic on boot. I tried booting into single user mode by holding down the shift key, but that still gave me a kernel panic. So I tried using the Lion Internet Recovery mode by holding down command-option-R when booting. The OS showed the Internet Recovery progress bar, but when it completed and the machine rebooted, I got a kernel panic again.
Is there anything else I can try to recover this machine, or do I need to take it into an Apple store to have them fix it?  It's a mid-2011 model, so I don't have a DVD drive in it, so I can't use a boot disc, although I guess I could use a bootable USB, but I don't have another machine to create one with.
I figure if it kernel panics from an Internet Recovery, then that takes my hard drive and anything that was installed on it out of the equation. I've also disconnected all external devices, drives, etc, and only have a monitor and keyboard/mouse attached to it, so that rules out any other devices that might be causing problems.
    Thanks for any advice
    Adam

Make sure the monitor is plugged in firmly as well as your keyboard/mouse.
    Try resetting the PRAM.
    Reset your computer’s PRAM
It's less likely to be helpful but if resetting PRAM doesn't help try resetting the SMC.
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
If neither of those things work it's probably time to visit the Genius bar.

  • Mac OS X Lion kernel panic on shutdown (MacBook Pro 5,3)

So lately I have been getting kernel panic on shutdown, running Lion 10.7.3 on my Mid-2009 Macbook Pro (Intel C2D, nVidia 9400M & 9600M GT) Reading the log it seems that it has something to do with the graphics card. prior to this, I did try to switch my graphics card from the 9400M to the 9600M but it never worked as after I logged out (after choosing higher performance), the system preferences doesnt remember the option and after I shutdown/restart, it went well to the Logon Screen but after I log on the Mac started to perform VERY slowly and hangs VERY often so I did a PRAM reset after so that I could use it again, on the 9400M.
The log can be seen here - http://pastebin.com/mjb9s6f5
If anyone can help please do so as I really wanna use the 9600M GT card for my primary/day-to-day use rather than the 9400M.

Most likely culprits are these. Disable them and see if that fixes the problem:

  • Mac Mini (late 2012) Kernel panic

    Hey guys.
I'm having troubles with my Mini. I'm a music producer and uses different kinds of hardware top make music.
I have used my Mini for over a year with Logic Pro 9 and my soundcard - MOTU 896HD - without any problems.
After I upgraded to Mavericks it all went wrong. My Mini restarted numerous times without any warning.
My friend formatted and re-installed Mountain Lion for me. Hopes were high that it now would work - but again - a kernel panic.
    Please can somebody help me.
I have copied the report and if anybody can see anything what it means and what I should do next - Big kudos to you and your effort!

Try reinstalling the original memory. Apple says the memory requiremenst are:
Mac mini (Late 2012) and Mac mini server (Late 2012) computers have two internal memory slots. These slots accept standard PC3-12800 DDR3 204-pin SO-DIMMs (Small Outline DIMM) with the following specifications:
    PC3-12800 DDR3
    Unbuffered
    Non-parity
    204-pin module
    1600 MHz
But you report 1333 MHz memory

  • My mac is not running, kernel panic! how do a fix that without time machine backup?

After a required update, my computer shutdown and it has never start ups again! On the screen apears a msg saying
" Unable to fins deiver for this platform" \"ACPI"\ .\"@/Sourcecache/xnu/xnu-2050.20.9/iokit/Kernel/IOPLatformExpert.ccp:1548
    Debugger called: <panic>
backtrace (CPU 0), Frame: Return Address ...

To boot in recovery mode, either boot holding +R, or ALT key.
But before reinstall (which may erase your disk), you should backup :
    - take a blank (preferable) external disk
    - boot in recovery mode
    - run disk utility
    - choose your HDD, then Restore tab
    - select your HDD as source, your external disk as destination
It will clone your disk. After reinstall, use the import tool to get back your datas, then reinstall 3rd party apps.

  • Mac Pro 1,1 Kernel Panic on Boot

    First, the specs:
    Mac Pro 1,1
Dual Core Intel Xeon 2.66 (x2)
    6GB RAM
    NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT
    Snow Leopard 10.6.8
So, I boot up one day and get the usual Apple logo and spinning wheel. It then flashes a blue screen, then goes to the light grey screen with the mouse cursor. After a couple of minutes doing nothing, I get the infinite SBBOD.
    I've wiped and reinstalled SL.
    I've swapped system drives.
    I've removed all non-original hardware.
    I've zapped the PRAM.
I sacrificed a Windows 8 laptop in a pagan ritual that, quite honestly, frightened me.
Nothing gets the machine to boot under normal conditions. However, Safe Boot and Target Disk Mode work fine. So my hunch is that the graphics card may be the culprit, but I've seen none of the tell-tale signs that the GPU is on its last legs.
Since the machine is older than dirt, and I've moved quite a few times during its life, I no longer have the original Mac Pro disc to run AHT, and I hea
I'm about to go drop $300-$400 on a 5770, but can't bring myself to spend that kind of cash if I can't determine whether it's a GPU issue, or a motherboard issue.
Does anyone have any insight, or has been through this exact issue?

I meant "newer used" HD 5770. LOL. My bad.
What I'm looking to do is enable Mercury Playback Engine in Premiere Pro and After Effects, and drop another 16GB RAM in for my pro apps, and a SSD in for the OS. What is my best option when it comes to graphics card to make this machine viable for another 3-5 years?
FYI: I'm not trying to edit 4k on this thing, but I'd love some relatively faster renders on my 1080p footage.

  • Mac Pro Kernel Panic Problems

Hi, thanks for looking over my sudden Mac Pro problem. Recently, my Mac Pro Intel Xeon started to have continuous Kernel Panics, all during simultaneous programs running, but also with a common Mac torrent program running, Transmission. Keep in mind that I've ran Transmission before in the past and this problem just came up. I did some research and a lot of people were complaining about Transmission causing Macs to slow down, were causing kernel panics, etc.-
So, I opened up my Mac Pro, cleaned all the dust on and around the motherboard, reinserted the 8 GB of RAM I have (description below), ran a full defrag through iDefrag, zapped the PRAM and reset the PMU..but within a day, this morning, my Mac Pro had another Kernel Panic. Within this timeframe I refrained from using any torrent program and when the Kernel Panic occurred, I had Safari and iTunes open.
    - Mac Pro: OS X 10.6.8, 2.66 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    - 8 GB, 1066 MHz DDR3 from OWC ( Purchased in March 2010 )
    - When the kernel panics first started appearing, I ran an Extended Apple Hardware Test (about 1 month ago), and this was the result:
    4MEM/62/40000006
    0x79c29e98
    Pass #12
Below is the most recent Kernel Panic I got, this morning's. It would be great if someone who knows more about this would be able to help. Thanks!

Only by removing pairs. When you find the pair that caused the panic, then one of the modules is bad. Best you can do without proper testing equipment. An Apple service tech has the information to interpret the error codes generated by the AHT, so they may be able to identify the actual module.

  • Kernel panic after cloning Mac Pro to iBook G4

Oops! For years I've "synchronized" my iBook to my G4-DP via CCC or SuperDuper. That just bit me, when I tried that from new Mac Pro. The kernel panic message is:
panic (...): Unable to find driver for this platform: "PowerBook6,5"
What is the smart way to recover from this mistake?

    Thanks John.
And to avoid this in the future, I've just scripted a new SuperDuper method to "clone" the Mac Pro to the iBook to avoid the Power PC/Intel conflict.
My - this feels much like the grief we have xferring the environment from one PC to another

  • IPod Restore failed, now Kernel Panic when connect to Mac

My iPod is a little older and has had trouble updating though the iPod Updaters so in order to get the latest updater on my iPod I've had to just restor the iPod using that specific updater. iPod Updater froze during my last restore and now I have incomplete software on my iPod and connecting it to my Mac results in immediate kernel panic. How can I get my iPod back to a usable state?
    Thanks.

Just got back from trying this idea and IT WORKS. For people that might have this problem, I booted from the CD/DVD and lauched Disk Utility and did a Repair Disk. I did it twice actually for good measure. Afterwards I booted back to the System Folder on the HD and I performed a restore of my iPod using the iPod Updater 2005-06-26.app updater. I've read that my whatever generation iPod works best with that one (I have the click wheel with the 4 buttons above it).
    Thanks for all your help.
