Mac Adapter for Diamond Pro 2070 SB CRT Monitor

Hi, I just received the above mentioned monitor from a friend. The instructions say that I have to use a "Diamond Pro Macintosh Cable Adapter" to connect to the 15-pin mini D-SUB end of the signal cable before I can use the monitor. I use a Power Mac G4 (QuickSilver 2002); run Mac OS 10.4.11 (Tiger). Do I really need that adapter? If I do can anyone please help me obtain the adapter?
Angel

You don't need any special adapter. The display needs VGA. If your computer has only DVI, you will need a standard DVI to VGA adapter that you can get at most computer stores if your computer didn't come with one.
The instructions apply to very old Macs that did not use VGA for CRT displays. At that time, Apple displays were not multi-sync, and pins in the special display connector would tell the computer what resolution to use. Non-Apple CRTs would need a special VGA adapter that had switches to set the desired resolution. Your Mac is new enough to not need this.

  • What's the power Adapter for Macbook pro 13inch Mid 2012

What's the power Adapter for Macbook pro 13inch Mid 2012 with core i-7, 2.9ghz, 8Gb ram?
AFAIK it should be a 60wat Megasafe power adapter.
But mine shipped with a 45Watt Megasafe. I got it as a Gift from my friend.
    Thanks in Advance.

This should be my Adapter right?
    Yes.
There is a drawback in addition to taking a longer time to charge up your MBP.  In unusual instances when using your MBP with power adapter attached, and running a very heavy load on the CPU/GPU, the MBP will require additional electrical resources in addition to what the power adapter can provide.  It will then draw upon the battery.  What this means is that using a 45 watt adapter, these conditions are more likely to occur.
Using a 45 watt adapter should not harm your MBP as such.
    Ciao.

  • VGA adapter for Book Pro Mid 2014

Hello all, so I need to buy an adapter for my Book Pro, since I need to connect it to the projectors at the university. I saw 2 types of VGA adaptors - http://www.conrad.de/medias/global/ce/9000_9999/9700/9710/9719/971926_BB_00_FB.E PS_1000.jpg and http://store.storeimages.cdn-apple.com/4428/as-images.apple.com/is/image/AppleIn c/aos/published/images/M/B5/MB572/MB572_…. So what is the difference and which one should I buy ?

Does anyone know of a auto adapter for the MacBook Pro that hooks into a cigerette lighter and charges the laptop? I have one for my Powerbook but the cord is different. Any suggestions on who might carry?

  • Lighter adapter for MacBook Pro?

    Hello,
I just wanted to know if a good lighter adapter existed for the MacBook Pro. Or, would it be simpler to get a cheaper 120V inverter, knowing that the vast majority are modified sinewave type, which is not supposed to be the ideal waveform. However, can a standard MacBook Pro charger be used with such an inverter?

Ok, and what about the lighter adapter? It seems rather awkward to have a multi-lighter socket adapter for the GPS, DVR, and an inverter for the electronics charger don't you think?

  • Thunderbolt adapter for macbook pro pre 2011?

    Hello,
I have a macbook pro bought in 2009.
There is a shared Thunderbolt display in my studio that I would like to use can I buy an adapter for my cinema screen port so I can use the Thunderbolt?
If not is there an adapter planned by apple?
    Thanks

Your MBP does not have Thunderbolt capability and there is no adapter for that technology.  You will not be able to connect to that display.  Note, this is taken from the Thunderbolt display specifications in the Apple online store:

  • Adapter for apple pro speakers?

My powermac G4 bit the dust. can I adapt the pro speaker plug(that wierd plug only a mother could love) to the necessary plug for my 13 inch MB silver?

Griffin used to sell the iFire adapter for the Apple Pro Speakers. It plugged into the Firewire port of the Apple computer and had a socket for the Apple Pro speakers.
    Two slight problems:
    1. Griffin no longer sell the iFire
    2. The latest Macbook does not have a Firewire port
If you can obtain a used iFire adapter and an old iPod Firewire powerpack then you will still be able to use the Apple Pro speakers as the Firewire was just for power and there is an audio jack for plugging into the headphone socket on the Macbook (or iPod).

  • MAC address for HP PRO CP1525NW

I want to enforce MAC filtering in my router. The OS is win7 home pro 64 bit.
How do I find the MAC address for my CP1525nw printer? It is not on the label, and the router reports only the name of the printer.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

First, MAC filtering is not a security measure because it is so easily defeated.  Read more here: http://blogs.zdnet.com/Ou/?p=43
If you want to continue, print a self test from the front of the printer: Reports > Config Report.  It will be listed as the Hardware address.

  • Mag safe adapter for macbook pro 15 inch mid 2009 model

is it safe to  use a 60 watts mag safe adapter for my macbook pro 15 inch mid 2009 model. i went to istore to have a battery replacement and they advice me to change my 60 watts mag safe to 85 watts because it is not compatible.....

    use the 85w charger.
"Power adapters for Intel-based Apple notebooks are available in 45W, 60W, and 85W varieties. Although you should always use the proper wattage adapter for your Apple notebook, you can use an adapter of a higher wattage without issue.
For instance If you have a MacBook (13-inch Late 2009) that normally uses a 60W adapter, you can also use an 85W adapter with that computer. You would not use a 45W adapter with that computer; it would not provide enough power for that MacBook. "

  • Airplane Adapter for MacBook Pro?

Does anyone make an airplane power adapter for the Macbook yet? I have read elsewhere, because of the magsafe adapter, that none of them will fit? Anyone know the answer to this question?

I wrote to iGo and Kensington. Neither currently make one although they "are looking into it". No ETA was given. I couldn't find one from anyone else. Posters on other threads suggest a power converter. There is a potential issue with these because of the MBP power requirements. I guess that would also be an issue for the adapters. Anyway I haven't seen any posts where someone had actually used a power converter with a MBP. I'd rather spend money on an extra battery than take a chance on a power converter not working.
I have 24 hrs of flying for a vacation in June, I hope there is a solution before I leave.

  • What is the correct part number for dvi to vga adapter for macbook pro model A1260

Can someone tell me the Apple part number for the DVI to VGA adapter that came with a Macbook Pro model A1260? (Early 2008)
My adapter has reached the end of useful life.
    Thanks!

You have a MacBook Pro 15" Early 2009 (MacBook Pro 4,1)
The Mac's port is a Dual-link DVI (VGA, Composite and S-video with adapter)
The DVI connector  connects to the Dual link-DVI port, thus you need a DVI to VGA adapter.

You also can search the Apple store online for the part, but it's so basic and simple that paying more for Apple's version is just for looks.

  • AC adapter for Macbook PRO

Can I use 45w AC adapter from my Mac Book Air to charge my new Macbook PRO 13?
The PRO comes with a 60w adapter.
    Thank you

Yes you can when the machine is asleep or shut down, but I wouldn't use it while the machine is running. Doing so (especially when running the MBP with a heavy load and a partially or fully discharged battery) may cause the AC adapter to heat up considerably more than it should, and might even trigger an overload-protection shutdown of the adapter. Whenever the MBP's power demand exceeds the 45W that the adapter can provide, the battery will be drawn upon for the excess and will discharge instead of charging, even though the adapter is connected. And under those particular circumstances, I don't know whether the fact that the adapter is connected would prevent the normal low-battery warning from appearing. If it does, then your battery could become completely drained and the machine could shut down without warning you, causing the loss of any unsaved work.
In short, it's a workable idea for overnight battery charging, but not a good option for the daytime. Get a proper spare adapter.

  • What is the best Mac choice for creating pro-level art/graphics/animation?

I'm an artist who does a lot of work with Adobe Creative Suite CS5, as well as some video editing and lots of animation. I've been using a 2007 model 15-inch Macbook Pro for the last 4 years, and it seems like it's time to upgrade...it runs burning hot all the time, and the battery dies pretty quick when the cord falls out. It seems like the whole thing is running a little slow, which is probably because I have a TON of graphics/animation/video software on there, but I need each and every program.
My question is, what is the best new Mac to purchase to replace this one? I want to make sure it lasts as long as possible, and will be able to handle the programs I use now. My first thought is to get another Macbook Pro, because of the portability, and just add on all the higher RAM, etc to customize it. But my husband suggested looking into the Mac Mini, because it's a lot cheaper, and we're a little strapped for cash at the moment. Would that serve the purpose? Or is a Macbook Pro really the best choice for what I need it to do?
I'd love to hear suggestions from other artists or graphics people. What do you recommend?

For a "cash strapped" person, unless you already
have a monitor, one of the new iMacs may be
a better choice.  If you do have a monitor, I would
suggest the dual core i7 equipt MacMini.  Since you state
you are using CS5 stuff, most Adobe apps,
Photoshop for example, do not make effective
use of multiple cores.  Also, using any of the
Adobe products, regardless of which computer
you decide on, get as much RAM as you can afford.

  • Macbook Pro or Mac Mini for Logic Pro X

Hi I currently have a Mid 2011 Macbook Pro 13' with 16GB 1600Mhz RAM and a 500GB Hybrid Solid State Drive. I use Logic Pro X heavily to the point where I get crazy CPU spikes and cant work with Logic Pro smoothly anymore. (Note: I only have around almost 20 tracks and I get these spikes, I've been doing much research to reduce this but still no luck.) I can't work with freezing tracks as well due to the Logic Pro X bug that unfreezes all the frozen tracks when pressing CMD+Z. Now I really think I need to upgrade my mac. I'd want to save as much money as I can so I was thinking of the 2.3Ghz quad core i7 Mac Mini?
What difference does the regular Mac mini make with the mac mini with the OSX Server? Do you think the $799 mac mini, when paired with a 16GB 1600Mhz ram and a 7200rpm HD work wonders for me in my music dream? Should I still go for the macbook pros. As far as portability, I think both are portable and I won't have any problem with both. When it comes to the screen, and keyboard and mouse, I have no problem in buying them individually. All I really care about is if it could handle what I want it to do at the cheapest price possible. I can't move away from the mac beacause Logic Pro X is pulling my leg.
If you guys have any recommendations please feel free to comment.
    Thank you very much

    Ok.. a few points..
A Mac Mini is really much the same as a Macbook Pro without the screen and keyboard..  but for a lot less money...
The Mac Mini Server version is identical to the standard Mac Mini with OS X but on the system disk is the Server App which you must run to activate the server functionality. Dont run the server app and the Mac Mini Server is just a mac Mini running normal OS X
Instead of freezing tracks.. have you tried Bounce in place... ?
Overloads can often occur due to using internal audio or... the Audio interface you are using and its (poor quality) drivers.. Are you using one? if so, which>
If you are getting overloads with that Macbook Pro then a recent Mac Mini will probably not improve the situation for you... The fact you are getting overloads could be how you are using Logic.. what plugins you are using.. what else is running ion the Mac and so on.. What processor does your MBP have. The newer Mac Minis can have faster more powerful  i7 quad cores which effectivelky gives you 8 cores to work with and that can help reduce loads...
Note: Often starting from scratch with a clean Mac and just installing LogicPpro plus plugins (and not using it for anything else..) can speed things up anyhow...
