  • Reports for Apple devices with SCCM client - Mac Addresses and IP information.

    Greetings.
I've been having an interesting problem.
I am currently running SCCM 2012R2 with PKI and have clients installed on windows, linux (ubuntu mostly) and apple computers successfully.
I have created custom report proving me with hardware information for windows and linux machines (Serial numbers, manufacturer, Mac Addresses and IP addresses) successfully.
So far I wasn't able to create any report or even find what table information about Apple computers MAC and IP addresses is stored.
If i go to Apple computer in SCCM using resource explorer under hardware I can see network devices, so that information is definitely gathered by SCCM in some way.
Can anyone help me out with this and maybe I am doing this in a wrong way?

Nice. Only trouble there seems to be multiple entry for same mac address there for same resource id.
So when I try to get them as substring i get multiple copies of same mac address.
But looks like this will work as solution to this problem.
So far I was doing it this way (And i am sure there is clearer way to do it.)
    SUBSTRING((SELECT ',' + CAST(t2.MACAddress0 AS VARCHAR(40))
FROM (SELECT DISTINCT ResourceID, MACAddress0 FROM  v_GS_NETWORK_ADAPTER) t2
                WHERE t2.ResourceID = ResourceID
                ORDER BY t2.ResourceID, t2.MACAddress0
                FOR XML PATH ('')
            ), 2, 100) [MACAddresses]

  • Mac address and Serial Number

    Hello all,
my Macbook pro was robbed last weekend, i wanna know if is possible to get the MAC Address of my Macbook if i have the serial number, i wanna try to locate my Mac by that way, but i dont have the mac address, just keep with me the serial number of...
    Thanks all.

    OK, I know that.
I'm in Chile, and I have contacts on a local ISP, they use for all its connections a relation between MAC address and modems, any other computer can't use that connection if that association is not changed.
My hope is that my Macbook will be use with that ISP, for that the thief would have to give the MAC Address ... so I can get the bad boy name...

  • MAC address and the CAM entries on the Layer 3 FWSM(Transparent mode)

    Hi,
With refrence of Cisco Secure Firewall Services Module (FWSM) of Cisco Press book it's mentioned that
"While configuring the transparent mode in FWSM, it is important to specify the MAC address and the CAM entries on the Layer 3 next hop device of FWSM."
This part of configuration is not very much clear to me please let me know the logic of this things
    The following are two examples:
Layer 3 Device A (PFC) at the Outside Security Domain
! IP address of the next hop for the outside security domain
    interface Vlan20
    mac-address 0000.0000.0001
    ip address 10.10.1.1 255.255.255.0
! Specify the IP address and MAC address at the first hop layer 3 interface
! of the inside security domain
    arp 10.10.1.21 0000.0000.0001 ARPA
Layer 3 Device B at the Inside Security Domain
! IP address of the next hop for the inside security domain
    interface Vlan21
    mac-address 0000.0000.0021
    ip address 10.10.1.21 255.255.255.0
! Specify the IP address and MAC address defined at the first hop interface
! of the outside security domain
    arp 10.10.1.21 0000.0000.0002 ARPA
    Regards
    Chris

Check the serial # reported by Sys Info against the serial # printed on the bottom of the case. I bet they are not the same. The service center did not change the serial # on that new Logic board to match the REAL serial number of your Mac.
So when you try to go to the MAS it looks like a completely different Mac which is not registered under your Apple ID.
If the above is true, the serials being different, then you need to take it back and have that changed to your REAL serial number.

  • How to detect MAC address and IP address

    Hi,
I'm still student. I have my holiday project which i need to build a program to monitor the usage of instant messenger in a LAN system. • Mac addresses and switchports

Hi all, am i correct in saying a mac address cannot exist on more than one port on a lan, except for the uplink ports leading to that mac address ?

That is correct. Each NIC will have a globally unique MAC address and that NIC can only be connected to a single port. So, with the exception of uplink ports, a given MAC address can only be on one port.
Hope this helps. If so, please rate the post.

  • Mac address and device name

    Hello,
Not sure how to explain my requirement, but I will try: How can I broadcast my computer name along with the MAC address? In other words, I have a Netgear WNDR3700 router and when I login to see the "attached devices" I only see the assigned IP and MAC for all our MacBooks. The router page shows other devices (printers, shared hard drives) but I want to identify my Mac also by name and not guess/investigate who's MacBook is.
    Maybe the pic can help.
    Thanks!

Does the device name match up at all with the MAC address? Since you blocked out the MAC address I can't see it but everything after the BRW in the device name looks like a MAC address. Could be the BRW stands for Broardcom something Wireless. Which IIRC Mac's use a Boardcom chip for both Wireless and Wired Ethernet.

  • MAC address and P1102W

This is my first post here.  I just bought a new P1102w printer.  I set it up to use the USB.  Now I want to use it wireless but I use a MAC filter through my router.  I think I found the MAC address for the printer.  It was under hardware address and had 12 characters.  I entered that into my router.  Now how do I swtch from USB to wireless?  I tried reading the manual but couldn't find it.  I did disconnect the USB cord and press the wireless button but nothing happened.  I tried printing a page but nothing printed.   Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks
    This question was solved.

First, MAC filtering is not an effective security measure and it makes your network a pain to manage.  Read more about it here.
First, unplug the USB cable from your printer and PC.  If you use Windows: Start > All Programs > Hewlett-Packard > [you printer model] > Add a Device.  When it asks, choose a Network device and follow the instructions.
If that does not work, get the latest software for your printer from the "Support & Drivers" link at the top of this page.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • I want to reserve a static IP address on my Airport extreme.  What is the difference between reserving by MAC Address and DHCP Client ID?

I want to understand the differences in the way you can reserve a static address for a device on the network.  I had previously set the device itself to an address and then reserved it with DHCP Client ID, which I thought was just the devices static addresss.  I'm not sure if this was in fact correct or just happend to work.  I know what a MAC address is, but I'm not really sure what the DHCP Client ID is. So it would be great if someone could clarify it, and the difference between reserving address by MAC Address or DHCP Client ID.

A MAC address is a unique identification consisting of letters and numbers in a form that looks like this:
    xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
Every network device has a MAC address, which can be found on a label on the bottom or back of the device. Apple calls this the Ethernet ID.
A DHCP Client ID is an optional name that you can assign to a device. For example, on your Mac....
Open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock)
    Open Network
    Click on Ethernet
Click Advanced at the lower right
You may be able to edit the DHCP Client  ID here....for example.....you could enter MJ500's MacBook in the space provided. That would be the Client ID of your Mac.

  • HT4061 I downloaded an iTunes update on my HP.  PC and restarted the computer for the hangers to take effect. Now my pc is locked up.  It gives me a client Mac address and no boot file name received.  What happened, and how do I get my pc back?

I downloaded an iTunes update and when ashen I restarted my pc it locked up.  It says client Mac address 001320bead25,   PXE E53  No boot file name received.  PXE MOF.  Exiting Broadcom pie rom.   How do I get my pc back!

When you installed iTunes on your work computer, then connected your iPad to that computer, it wiped what was on the iPad, then put the iTunes library (nothing) from the work computer onto the iPad. You can try copying the iTunes folder from your home computer over to your work computer, but since the apps were bought with a different account, they may not load or update properly.

  • Printers connected to E3200 USB port - MAC address and IP address

HI - I have a printer connected to the USB port of my E3200. It is working perfectly as a network device. It happens to be an Epson Stylus Photo 1400. My question:
Does this printer now have its own MAC and/or IP address? If yes how can I determine what they are?
    I am on Windows 7.
    Thanks much!

Jake - Makes perfect sense. Thanks. Do you know how I can get the printer's MAC Address? Eliot
It should be on the printer itself. Just look for the sticker. Most of the time it is at the bottom of the device or at the back it should say MAC address or look for the number that looks like this : 00:00:00:00:00:00.

  • MAC address and hostname

i got a sun ultra 10 and i am getting idprom contents invalid on bootup, but i get it to bootup. The machine does get an ip address from dhcp but will not connect, the mac address is showing fe:ef:ab:ef:ff:ee (which i am assuming is default, or wrong cause of the idprom). the host name is also showing afefeffd, which is also probably wrong, the mac on the case shows it should be 8:0:20:cf:77:df and the host should be 80cf77df
do i need a new nvram to get this to work?

chill dude being rude isnt going to make people help you...
anywyas... you need the host name and password for your schools network
the touch doesnt have its own
you should be able to connect to it by just going to wifi settings on the touch and then it should pop up when ur in school

  • Is there any way to locate an iPad with a MAC Address and a Serial Number?

I happen to know the MAC Address for my recently stolen iPad.  Is there any way to use that to locate an IP address the next time it accesses the web?

Not really. Other software would have to be installed on the device to locate it. That's what Find My iPhone is for (and it's free).

  • Can I add MAC adrreses in Bulk in ISE? I have a huge list of Mac Addresses and I cant add them one by one

    Hi
I have a list of Mac addresses, I cannot add them one by one in ISE. Is there any way I can add the mac addresses in Bulk? Or Also, If you could tell me a way to do MAB with Radius Server?
    Minakshi

    Hi Saurabh,
The link says that Radius should be configured in the switch, does that mean we cannot have MAB configured and working without Radius
The switch must have a RADIUS configuration and be connected to the Cisco secure access control server (ACS)

  • MAC address and wifi

I just bought a MacBook Pro. It was set up at the shop.
When I brought it home, the MAC address showed up as f8:1e:df:e2:d6:71
My Dlink router says it is an invalid address. I've never had the problem with my other Macs and iPod Touches on my home network.
Any idea how I can make it a valid address?

The home network has MAC filtering because our connections seem to drop out from our router all the time.
Very strange that my Airport iD starts with f8 as all my other computers (PC and Mac) and ipod Touch are all 00 addresses.
    So I am concluding that
    1) I cannot change my MAC address.
    2) My dlink cannot accept my MAC address.
I am currently spoofing my address. Which is heaps annoying because I have to go through the process of changing it everytime I turn on my computer.
I have yet to try this Mac on other wifi systems. But I hope I won't run into any trouble with wifi that might need my MAC address.
