Mac address report

Hi,
Can I with Ciscoworks, make a report like:
"switchport that have more than x MAC adresses"
or "switchport without voice vlan that have more than x MAC adresses "
The purpose is to track rogue non-Cisco hubs and switches on my lan/man. I can do it by hand with sh mac-address-table interface but its time consuming.
Thanks

In LMS 2.6 or 3.0, you can go to Campus Manager > User Tracking > Reports > Report Generator > Duplicates, and run the Ports with multiple MACs report. However, in 3.0 this report is currently plagued by bug CSCsm97643 which will cause false positives. This bug will be fixed in CM 5.0.3.
We are also looking at adding some more rogue MAC detection reports into the next release of LMS.

  • Reports for Apple devices with SCCM client - Mac Addresses and IP information.

    Greetings.
I've been having an interesting problem.
I am currently running SCCM 2012R2 with PKI and have clients installed on windows, linux (ubuntu mostly) and apple computers successfully.
I have created custom report proving me with hardware information for windows and linux machines (Serial numbers, manufacturer, Mac Addresses and IP addresses) successfully.
So far I wasn't able to create any report or even find what table information about Apple computers MAC and IP addresses is stored.
If i go to Apple computer in SCCM using resource explorer under hardware I can see network devices, so that information is definitely gathered by SCCM in some way.
Can anyone help me out with this and maybe I am doing this in a wrong way?

Nice. Only trouble there seems to be multiple entry for same mac address there for same resource id.
So when I try to get them as substring i get multiple copies of same mac address.
But looks like this will work as solution to this problem.
So far I was doing it this way (And i am sure there is clearer way to do it.)
    SUBSTRING((SELECT ',' + CAST(t2.MACAddress0 AS VARCHAR(40))
FROM (SELECT DISTINCT ResourceID, MACAddress0 FROM  v_GS_NETWORK_ADAPTER) t2
                WHERE t2.ResourceID = ResourceID
                ORDER BY t2.ResourceID, t2.MACAddress0
                FOR XML PATH ('')
            ), 2, 100) [MACAddresses]

  • Intune report - Exporting MAC addresses

Intunes reporting function seems to be quite limited when it comes to exporting Hardware information. But the hardware detail of each device in Groups -> (group name) -> Devices -> (select a device) -> Hardware tab is full of information that
does not seem to be bulk exportable.
We are particularly looking for the MAC address of each device but wouldn't mind a blanket export of all the information under the hardware page of each device. Does anyone know a way of performing this action without having to access each individual device
and exporting the hardware page from there?

    Hi,
Currently there is no way to export this data with the hardware report.  I have passed along your request to the engineering team for reporting for further investigation.

  • How do I find the MAC address of a CLIENT ACCESS POINT created from the FILE SERVICES ROLE

I have several Client Access Points created within the clustered File Services Role.  The only way I seem to be able to determine the MAC address of each of these, is by visiting the DHCP server.
Does anyone know if there is a way of reporting on this from the server (active node) itself?  I have tried ipconfig all, checked the properties of the CAP in the FCS console etc.
    Many thanks.

    Hi,
As far as I know there have no original option for query all the CAP MAC address, may you can create a PowerShell command then filter the configuration result, you can ask
in PowerShell forum for the further help.

  • My MacBook was stolen and I need to know the MAC address

An emergency question to Apple support. My MacBook was stolen and I need to know the MAC address of its network card. I have a receipt with the serial number of my MacBook. Can you assist?
    My serial: W8***66D
    Thank you
p.s Any ideas how I can find it?

Report the theft to your local authorities.
Apple has no means of tracking thefts, as thieves themselves may claim the machine is theres just by looking up the information on the computer, and unless you registered the machine, it is really their word against yours, unless you also have receipt or other information that they can track to your receipt against your serial number.
Your homeowners insurance may be able to recoup the cost.
In the future, consider getting Lapcop, or Lojack for notebooks.
    Good luck!

BTW, they ask for the impossible, as anyone can plug in a USB FiFi
adapter - or tether their Blackberry - or ... so hopefflly they will not
    be overly picky.
Sort of... there isn't a hardware category for wireless NICs. However
most of the descriptions include the word "wireless" so you can create a
    custom report as follows:
    Reports-->Inventory Custom Reports-->Hardware Components-->New
Then enter a Name for the report, select Type = Hardware Components,
selecy Focus = LAN Adapter. Hit Continue.
In the Criteria section [+] add a criteria
    [Product Name] [contains] wireless
To be more specific, take a look at the descriptions returned without
any critera, and add any oddballs using OR grouping, so if a specific
model or the word "WiFi" appears - whatwever - you can catch it.
Finally select the report columns as needed.
    Run.
We notice that on machines where the WLAN can be disabled, the MAC
address is absent ( because at the time of the inventory, there is no
wireless NIC active, but the enumeration of HW show one. ) However, you
will still "know" there is a wireless NIC.
    Report looks like:
Atheros Communications Wireless LAN Adapter AR5212 802.11abg FOOUSER
    F00F00F00482 127.0.0.1 255.0.0.0 1
    Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless LAN 3945ABG FOO2USER F00F00F00D6C
    192.168.1.41 255.255.255.0 1
Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless LAN 3945ABG ANOTHERFOO ( no MAC )
( Works, but I would certainly vote for a more easily to get at
category, same for broadband interfaces. )

  • How can I import iPhone contacts into Mac Address book

I recently purchased a MacBook Pro and am in the process of trying to dump my Windows PC.
All of my important contacts are on my iPhone. How can I get those contacts into my Mac Address Book?
The same question goes for the music (ripped from CD) and my video files that are on my iPhone? The media is not that big of a deal because I can easily transfer it from my PC to my Mac but I assume I am not the only one in the world trying to do this and that Apple would make it very easy for MSFT Windows users to easily migrate to Macs.
I must be an idiot but I don't see any option in iTunes to transfer the data from my iPhone into iTunes and/or the Address Book.
    Thanks

The iPhone's primary function is NOT a word processor or a spread sheet analyzer.
I didn't say, nor was I trying to imply ANYTHING of the sort. You should read what I provided again a little slower and in it's entirety, not taking this out of context, which you made into Apples and Oranges.
It IS an iPod, a device designed to store and play music (in addition to being a browser and a phone).
It is a phone, an iPod, and an internet device, which supports transferring iTunes content from iTunes on a single computer ONLY.
Making it difficult to transfer my legal music from my iPhone to my Mac does not make me want to go out and buy more Apple products or Apple software.
Good, then don't - no skin off my back. I couldn't care less if you want to remain a Windows sufferer. All this doesn't come from Apple. Much of it comes from those who OWN the distribution rights for content sold thru the iTunes Store.
All of Apple's commercials imply how easy the user experience is over Windows. Well, in this case, they missed the boat BIG TIME!
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but let me get this straight. You will likely need to transfer much more than just music from your Windows PC to your Mac and if so, how do you plan on accomplishing this? If you are transferring Word and Excel files, photos, and any other data, you won't be using an iPhone for this, so I don't see the big deal with transferring your iTunes library along with all other data being transferred.
I understand that the iPhone was not designed to be used as a backup. However, you allow the contacts to be merged in but not the music that I legally installed (but didn't purchase from the iTunes store).
I don't allow anything - this is a user to user help forum only.
As I provided in my first post in this thread - the sync process for contact information, calendar events, and bookmarks with an iPhone is bidirectional with the supported application on your computer. This is a sync process by definition of syncing - which is not the same for other data such as iTunes content and photos transferred from your computer to your iPhone.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1296
Apple wants to make it difficult unless I purchased the music from iTunes.
No, Apple or really those who own the distribution rights or the copyright holders for content sold thru the iTunes Store wants to make this difficult. Content sold thru the iTunes Store is set up by Apple to be a break even - which is included with the Apple stockholder's report. Apple makes their profit via sales of the iPod and iPhone. The bulk of the iTunes Store revenue goes to those who own the distribution rights or the copyright holders for the content.
In addition, if my hard disk suffered a crash and I lost all my music it just seems stupid not to be able to pull it off my iPhone (yes, I know data should be backed up on a different drive, and mine is, but I am sure a lot of people do not back up their data).
Maintaining a backup of your data is important for this very reason, and for other reasons which is not Apple's responsibility. I believe iTunes includes an occasional warning message to backup your iTunes library (which can be turned off), and iTunes includes an option to transfer content purchased from the iTunes Store from an iPod or iPhone - since the overwhelming majority of this content includes DRM protection required by those who own the distribution rights or the copyright holders.
The iPhone was not designed as an external storage device or as a backup device - end of story. If someone chooses not to maintain a backup, they are playing Russian roulette with their data. Maintaining a backup is important regardless the platform, but even more so when running Windows with constant virus, adware, and spyware concerns.

  • .Mac address keeps disappearing

    Hello,
I'm using 2 mail accounts on my iphone - one is my own domain via pop, the other is a .mac address. About once every other day the .mac address account completely disappears from my phone without me having touched the settings on either my phone or my computer.
Has this happened? Should I be unchecking something in iTunes to resolve this?
    Thanks

See if it's related to this...
It also seems to be related to later OSX versions, like 10.8.x & 10.9.x
The 2012 macs (and later apparently) (also later OSX versions on earlier Macs can do it also), not waking normally from sleep after hours being in sleep. (noted here ...

  • ISP blocks my APBS due to various MAC addresses used by the router

    Hi all,
My Internet provider limits access to Internet over Ethernet cable
for fixed MAC address(s). That means, I have to inform ISP of the
only MAC address I'll use to transfer data. In the case ISP detects
traffic with other MAC addresses on my cable, he blocks any traffic
at all (until cable unplugged and kind of 30secs are waited).
My configuration is APBS GigaN with "shared public IP" and with
MacBookPro connected over embedded WiFi AirPort N card.
I reported EthernetID of my APBS to ISP, but stuck into the problem
that all the time router is blocked. It successfully receives
IP settings from DHCP of provider, and then passes nothing in/out.
The provider said he can see the packets with different MAC addresses,
as I understood these MACs are exactly AirportID and EthernetID of
APBS. Why is it happening so, when "shared public IP" with DHCP
and NAT are selected? Why MAC address of wireless card of APBS is
visible to outside? What can I do with it, supposing that provider
can't fix the case on his side?
    Regards,
    Strim

kevj is right, Your linksys router has 3 MAC address and they all are assocciated with each other.

Is it possible to import new (IEEE) vendor code list to get correct information regarding clients MAC-addresses? There are too many client vendor codes reported as "Unknown" lately......

  • Mac address book blank after MS Office update

After using the stupid MS Office Updater on prompt, I find that all my contacts are missing from my Mac Address Book! I didn't even install Outlook but the stupid Updater did. My contacts aren't there though and sync is off.
I tried restoring the Address Book folder in the Library/Application support from Time Machine. Nothing.
I tried deleting the AddressBook-v22.abcddb file. Still nothing.
I tried deleting com.apple.AddressBook.plist. Nope. And the other prefs file, too.
I've tried these things several times, different sequence, restarting, yadayada.
I've been troubleshooting my own Mac's since the MacPlus and never been so stumped! I hate M$!

Hi sig, Thanks for the reply.
My Address Book was fine before installing this update. The earliest TM I have? And lose all the work I've done on this machine?
I've seen reports that other people had their contacts moved from Address Book to Outlook after this update. So, it seems very likely. Either it's the Update or the PowerPoint I opened that prompted me to update had a virus!
Since I posted, I went to the Genuis Bar, where I surprisingly got lectured about recovery is not what they do, and they could spend only 15 minutes with a customer, spending most of the time on the lecture, ultimately refering me to an expert. He found corruption on my HD and told me to wipe the drive and restore from backup. Ughh.
However, I reran DU and repaired the disk, tested the hardware even. DU reports the disk is ok now.
    Yet, no Address Book.
Before I resort to wiping, I'm wondering if I could detect if I had a received a rare Mac virus...
