Mac - AIR apps don't WindowShade

I'm using Mac OS X 10.5.2 (Intel) and Unsanity's "WindowShade
X" extension (version 4.2b1). On all of my other apps, WSX is able
to minimize the windows (ie, hide all but the drag bar) when I
double-click on the drag bar. However, when I try this on Adobe AIR
windows (eg, Ext JS API Documentation, Finetune desktop), nothing
happens.

Try this.
Close the App Store app completely by double tapping the home button and then swipe up on the app store preview thumbnail to close it. Then sign out of your Apple ID in Settings>iTunes & App Store Apple ID. After signing out, reset the iPad again using the home and sleep buttons like you did before. Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID and sign in. Try the App Store again.
If that doesn't work reset your router. Unplug it from power for about 30 seconds then plug it in again.

Is it possible to share assets between a windows and a mac AIR app build with captive runtime on one dvd-rom?

Hi there,
I have a question about burning two builds of an AIR desktop app with captive runtime, one for Windows and one for Mac, on a single hybrid DVD-rom that can be played on both Windows computers and Macs.
I've tried sharing the assets (video's and pdf's mostly) between the two builds, but I can't seem to get it to work. The only way I have been able to work around this, is to have the assets in both builds, which results in the double the amount of space on the DVD-Rom.
Is there a way to have the two builds use a single location to find the files? Or do I need to have two builds that both contain all the assets?

I am done with mounting a secondary HDD (thanks to ifixit) and installing Windows 8 Pro 64 bit on it without a worry. Charm, charm!!
Boot Camp 5 guide prescribes all needed steps and when read and used correctly, installation must be an easy task. And all the existing apple hardwares work so good in the Windows environment too.
I am going to help out a friend of mine in doing a similar thing on his mac too. If you got specific questions, please do shoot up here and i should be able to get a reply to it (if at all).

Maximize/minimize mac air app

I seem to be having an odd problem with the system chrome
buttons in OS X. The initialWindow node in the app xml file has all
the correct settings:

...and doesn't show the minimise/maximise buttons in Windows
(as expected) - but on OS X it intermittently will - though never
in ADL (always shows just the close button). Any ideas?

It's 10.5.5 - and I've seen this on three macs - both
PowerMac and intel. Perhaps it's something in the code that could
be causing the problem - though no other windows are being created
- just the initial window. When the air file is first installed, it
works fine until either it is closed (running in the dock or
systray) or quit - and then re-opened.

CustomeUpdateUI for native AIR app installer

We have a native installer for a windows and Mac AIR app.
For updates, we use the NativeApplicationUpdater code from:

After an update has been downloaded and launched, AIR shows a dialong prompting the user to "Replace" or "Cancel"
the update.
I would like to get rid of the dialog as this seems to include a redundant question for the user who chose to update from the first place.
I believe setting the <customUpdateUI> tag at the application decriptor file would hide the dialog, but that causes the update to just launch the existing app. How can I come up with custom logic that will cause the update to actually replace the existing app?

It does have half an answer. SWFs can request loading AIR applications so they suggested embedding a SWF on the page which would be able to launch your AIR application. Your link would need to fire off some JavaScript to use the ExternalInterface with the SWF to relay your request inside the SWF.
If you really want it on Windows for example then you'll need to register your URI, the example should be self explainatory:

I lost mail smart folders on iMac after delete them on Mac Air

I lost mail smart folders on iMac after delete them on Mac Air with differents mail accounts.
I don't undestand, I have email accounts totally differents between iMac and Mac Air, I don't know if is an iCloud issue.
When I open Mail on Air I see a lot of smart folders I use on iMac and I thinked of a some old sync mismatch, so I deleted smart folders on Air.
Today when I turn on my iMac I see I lost ol my smart folders, but are differents computers, differents email accounts, one used for work the other at home (gmail).
Of course I have time machine backup but don't know how to restore smart folders.
Please help me, I don't want smart folders be synced beetween differents accounts

I don't know the answer to your question, but smart folders do not actaually contain messages, just links to messages from other folders. So nothing has actually been lost. Once you recreate the smart folders, you'll see the same mail inside them that you did before.

I can't stop the App Store from opening on my MAC Air when turning it on. It didn't use to do this and I have no idea what I did, but I don't want it to open without me asking it to. Help please.

I must have done something that I'm not aware of. Every time I turn on my Mac Air the App Store opens. I don't want that, obviously. It's not in my login apps (I checked in system preferences), and it's not in my dock and when I put it in my dock it didnt' show "open at login", and I never choose to resume my programs when shutting down.
I am running the latest OS (10.8.4).
So, there has to be something else that I'm missing. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities
First, when you are going to turn off or restart your Mac, you will see a box called "Reopen windows when logging back in" in the shutdown or restart window. Untick this box and see if the App Store opens automatically in the next startup.
If it starts, open System Preferences > Users and Groups > Login Items, and see if the App Store shows up. If so, remove it from this list

Any clue, how i can add a mail account to apple mail app, but with separate password / pin to open it.
Years ago there was a program called mail switcher which added this functionality, but thats gone.

They would have to be logged in as separate users in order not to see your account in Mail. Whatever accounts put in Mail under your account will show up. All mail accounts usually have there own user and password. The only thing you can do is to remove the password from Keychain and take the account offline so you don't keep getting prompts for passwords each time it checks for mail.
Not a great solution.
Best way is to give the other user their own user account with their own mail and enable fast user swithcing to log between the different users if all access the computer frequently.

I just got a new Mac but I don't know how to transfer all the music, apps, videos, etc from my iPod and old computer to my new Mac.

I just got a new macbook air and I am trying to figure out how to get all of the music, videos, pictures, apps, etc. that I have on my ipod touch and on my old computer onto my mac. I don't want to lose anything. I just want to figure out how to sync my ipod to my new mac without losing any data.

copy the entire iTunes folder (not just the iTunes music folder) from <MacintoshHD>/users/yourname/music on the source to <MacintoshHD>/users/yourname/music on the target (overwriting the iTunes folder in place there).
you can use an external HD or your network for this operation. everything will be as you were used to from the old machine.

Thanks for this... I actually wanted to pair my iPad with my iPod touch so I can use the keynote remote app in my iPod touch to control my keynote presentations... I was able to control my presentations through wifi... I wanted to use the bluetooth since internet connection is quite slow.. The app tells me I can connect through bluetooth with my iPad but sadly, it can't... I've been trying to pair them but the can't discover each other... :(

Adobe air app integration with mac help

Hi all,
I want to intergrate my help with adobe air app on mac(so that it should look like mac help). But i am not able to do so as we need to add entry in the file info.plist for doing it. Can anyone please guide me on this. I have downloaded several application but not able to find any application with help intergrated in it. Most of the sample apps don't have any help and the remaining apps send the link to their website for help.
Any suggestion/ guidance in this regard would be great

Is any way I can change my email on a certain app on a mac air ?

I was recently handed down a mac air. My sister passway last year and left me her mac air.. The problem i'm having is i can't update certain apps because of her itunes id & I don't know what password it could be. I try and try login but I end up disabling her itunes account. I can't get in certain apps because I just updated to the OS X Yosemite.. Like I access my iphoto because i need a update... Please help, I don't want to reprogram it because I feel like ima lose all her pictures... (it not letting me see none so theres no way for me to transfer them to a usb flash drive.)

You need to delete the apps like iPhoto and iMove etc and then purchase them for yourself.
As your Library is separate from the application, doing this will not affect the photos, but of course, always have a back up.

Guide to create air apps for Mac appstore?

Hi all,
I was wondering if there is any guide for publishing an air app on the Mac AppStore. All I found so far is a simple tutorial by Pigsels which is written with air3.2 in mind.
I can't seem to find any official articles from Adobe about this subject.
Questions I have are:
- is it possible to export to Mac AppStore from flash cs6?
- are there any guidelines I have to follow? Like should I create minimize and close buttons from within flash? Or are they generated by apple?
- how to test apps on your Mac before uploading to the Mac AppStore?
Has anyone here been able to publish something in this store? Some tips would be really appreciated.

Okay, I figured it out myself.
Here's the solution for anyone interested:
- In Flash CS6 create an Air for Desktop Application
- In publish settings choose to publish a Mac Installer. This will create an .app file.
- Follow the steps from this forum: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4564789#4564789
I had a little trouble signing the apps, but this buildscript from the guy in the forums really helped a lot: Just follow al the steps and you will succeed...
Well, I managed to get my apps uploaded to apple. Don't know if they will get approved, but I'll just wait and see...
