Mac air is not charging, cord is fine

My Mac Air is not charging, the cord/connector is fine, all other devices plugged are working.  I tried plugging directly on the wall too. This happened once in the past, then worked again.  I thought my Mac Air had a problem, took it to the Apple Store but my cord worked there and so did theirs.  This is so annoying! Does anyone have new suggestions?  I read the posts relating this same problem, is Apple coming up with anything to solve this?

You've answered this yourself in your earlier post here above:
There seems to others having this same problem...
I'm out of here, this is going nowhere...

Mac air not charging, no orange or green lights but the indication on the screen showing being charged but the % not getting better than 38% despite charging it overnite. Help please

    Perform SMC reset.
Have you been many times letting your Air die from power? (important question)
Run an SMC reset and report back
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.
If you have no indicator lights on the magsafe charger, you have a possible defective charger OR a damaged/defective IO board.
If same after SMC reset, contact Apple for in shop full diagnostic and possible replacement of charger and / or IO board.

    Hi HarmitClaire,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that your MacBook Air is not charging as expected. In this situation there are troubleshooting steps that I would recommend. Please use the attached article as a resource for steps to help you resolve this situation.
Mac notebooks: All about batteries - Apple Support
    My battery is not charging
Confirm the correct wattage AC adapter for the computer. A power adapter rated for a lower wattage than is required for the system may not reliably charge the computer. For assistance identifying the proper adapter, review Intel Based Mac notebooks: Identifying the right power adapter and power cord--US. Additional adapter troubleshooting is available in Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters. If issues persist please reset the SMC.
    Best regards,
    Joe

  • My iPad air will not charge connected to my monitor or my computer. Why?

My iPad air will not charge connected to my monitor or my computer. Why?

Short answer:  Computer USB ports don't deliver as much power as the power adapter that comes with the iPad.
    Details:
Full size iPads come with either a 10W or 12W power adapter.  The mini comes with a 5W power adapter.
See iPhone, iPad, iPod: Using iPad Power Adapters
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4327
    USB ports on computers deliver 2.5W (USB 2, 500mA x 5v) or 4.5W (USB 3, 900mA x 5v).
Newer Macs with high power ports can deliver 5.5W (1100mA x 5v).
See Apple Computers and Displays: Powering peripherals through USB
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4049
If you connect your (full size) iPad to a computer USB port, it may charge slowly, but since it's getting less than half the normal charging power, it may say "not charging".  It may charge slowly or it may not depending on use (screen brightness, processor load, etc.).  If you really want to charge it from the computer, put the iPad to sleep.
The best charging solution is to use the Power Adapter that came with the iPad.

  • Please, the battery of my mac air does not last more than two hours, it's been over 30 days I sent for technical assistance and nothing! I am very disappointed with the mac air, I had a very different expectation of apples products!!

Maybe the problem is not your MB Air......
    Try these:
Make sure bluetooth is turned off if you're not using it.
Set your screen brightness to 4 bars.
See what's loading in your login items.  Delete the ones you don't need.
Open Activity Monitor - under All Processes see what's using most of your CPU's resources.
Highlight the ones with the highest %CPU and hit quit process.
Remember that when Apple says that your battery should last 7 hours, they tested it just browsing the web and not have anything open in the background and screen is set at 50% brightness.

  • My macbook air is not charging, I've replaced the charger but it is still not working?

My macbook air is not charging, I've replaced the battery but its still not charging. Can anyone help????

If two different Apple supplied chargers have failed, it sounds like there's a problem with the port.  It's probably a good idea to have an Authorized Apple Service Provider have a look.
    Here's how to find one:

    Hi...
    Several things to try ...
    Apple Portables: Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters
Try Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
If nothing above has helped, try Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)

  • HT5172 iPad Air will not charge on my computer

iPad Air will not charge when I plug it into the USB port . Operating system vista.

That's normal. Most USB ports don't put out enough power to meet the iPad's requirements. It may say not charging although it is getting a trickle charge.
Your iPad is best charged with its supplied power brick plugged into the wall.

Anybody sell the Mac Pro and not charge tax?

I concur. Expercom is probably THE best place to buy a Mac - other than directly from Apple - of course.
I ordered my new 8 Core Mac Pro on Thursday with just standard shipping. It is scheduled to arrive some time today. I got it with 4GB's of Ram for $2770, no tax and only 1 cent shipping.
    Good Luck on your purchase!

  • I've lost a book I was writing, using pages. my mac air could not autosave it because my start up disc was full.  the computer froze, i turned it off, then back on, and it was working fine but the file was gone.

ow do I recover a Pages file lost because Mac Air start up disc was full and couldn't autosave?

Unless you've done anything to change it, Google keeps every email that ever passes through their server in your All Mail folder/mailbox/label. Even if you delete stuff, they hold onto it, there. You have to go out of your way to actually delete anything permanently.

  • Macbook Air is not charging

I have a macbook air that won't charge.  My first magsafe adapter wouldn't charge unless it was held at a certain angle so I went and bought a new one.  The new one I bought has the exact same problem except now it actually lights up when not held, but it still won't charge when it's not held.  I have to put something like my phone under the tip of the charger for it light up and actually charge my computer.
My battery health right now says it is normal.  My macbook air is not under warranty anymore since I bought in 2010 and I have tried resetting the SMC.  What could the problem be?  Does it have to do with the mac itself or do I just have bad luck with magsafe adapters.

My wire is heading towards the hinge.  For it to charge I have to sort of lift the the little white cylider thing at the tip of the magsafe.  It's sort of hard to explain.
    http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/bc/Right_Angle_Magsafe.jpg
It's that little white cyclider part directly under the metalic part.  I have to keep holding it or else it won't charge.
