Mac Air not supporting iPhotos

Just updated ios8 on iPad and phone and both seem to have worked. Did the same on my mac air (version 10.9.5.) and now I cannot access my photos on the laptop. Message comes up saying iPhotos not supported by the mac. What have I done wrong and how do I correct it? Thanks for advice in advance.

This screenshot shows which previous versions of iPhoto are compatible with Mavericks.  It also indicates which versions qualify for a free upgrade to iPhoto 9.5.1 and which require a purchase:
Note 1:  every day more users are reporting problems with iPhoto 8.1.2 so I've included it in the non compatible category.
Note 2:  If your previous version of iPhoto was iPhoto 7 (08) or earlier you'll need to download and run the iPhoto Library Upgrader 1.1 application on the library before opening it with iPhoto 9.5.1
WARNING:  If you use iTunes to sync photos between your iPhone or iPad and your Mac do not activate the iCloud Drive. Doing so will kill the capability of using iTunes to sync with your mobile device.
Also it will disable Documents & Data syncing for your iCloud account on OS X Mavericks and earlier Macs, as well as iOS 7 and earlier devices.

If you purchased Lion for your iMac, just log into the Mac App Store from your MacBook using the Apple ID under which you purchased Lion and go to the Purchases page. You will be able to download and install Lion there.
searching the internet i found a link to upgrtade to 10.7
The only place you get get Lion is from the Mac App Store. If you found some other site, that was an illegal copy and almost certainly tied to someone else's Apple ID and hence unusable by you. If the link was just to the Mac App Store, see above.
As to the problem with synchronization to iCloud, that's not a 10.6 question, so I'd suggest you take up that specific issue in either the Lion or iCloud forums, providing full details, and someone there can probably help you sort things out.
    Regards.

  • What will Apple do after they do not support iPhoto?  Will photo stream be eliminated?  I will no longer be able to use aperture, so have signed on with LR & PS.

What will Apple do after they do not support iPhoto?  Will photo stream be eliminated?  I will no longer be able to use aperture, so have signed on with LR & PS.

Just because Apple will no longer support IPhoto or Aperture doesn't mean that the versions that are still out there still won't work, function or still do what it is designed to do.
I do not like all of this offsite, Cloud service storage, anyways. I rather have easy, trouble free access to all of my data locally.
I am still planning on using the current versions of IPhoto and Aperture as I am not moving any time soon to Yosemite or any newer OS versions based on it. I still use a lot of legacy software that I simply can't afford to upgrade any farther.
Plus, I use other photo book sites other than Apple's own service, anyways, because these other services offer more products and are far more flexible than Apple's own print services.

  • Photoshop CC2014 Macbook Air not supported?

I just installed Photoshop CC 2014 onto my Macbook Air and now I get the message
You can't open the application "Adobe Photoshop CC 2014.app" because it's not supported on this type of Mac
I have a new Macbook Air, 8GB Ram 256GB Hard Drive, OS X Mavericks
Am I out of luck?  Or is this a fixable glitch? Never used Photoshop before - was finally convinced to give it a go.
    Thanks
    Brett

Glad you sorted out your issue. I think this is the new 'feature' of Mavericks getting in the way. If this happens again, right-click the app icon and choose "Open". When you invoke it that way, you will have an option to let the application run anyway (it's a checkbox on the warning dialog). Typically you will see this when you install an app from an "unknown source". I think anything downloaded from the internet is considered an unknown source (rather than the app store).
    Cheers!

  • Mail on mac air not connecting with Gmail

    Hello
I have a Mac Air and Mail has been working fine but stopped a couple of months ago. Same account still works fine on iPad and iPhone. I have not changed anything like passwords etc.and I can still connect with gmail via safari on this device. Looked at Connection Doctor and internet connection is fine but connection to IMAP and SMTP are saying connection failed and asking to verify username and password. That verification comes up when I first open Mail but the password is not accepted.
Has anyone else had similar problems.

  • I have just bought an airport time capsule and im trying to install an airport utility. I tried the 6 version but it wd not load because it said might mac would not support. I then tried the 5.6.1. and it said it would not work with airport capsule.

I have just bought an airport time capsule and i am trying to install an airport utility programme to support this
However, it seems the version 6 which came out last year - i can't use on my Mac - Snow Leopard -
So tried to then install version 5.6.1 and although this installed properly, it says this will not support my capsule
    2. I have BT home hub 2. I presume I cannot bypass this as the internet router? I bought the time capsule for its capability to back up . The router was a byproduct. But am I correct in thinking that it acts as a secondary router or a booster rather than a primary router . I still need the BT homehub?
if anyone can help that would be great
    CS J

You should either return the Time Capsule or upgrade your Mac at least to OS X 10.7.

  • Quicken for Mac is not supported by Quicken Canada or Quicken US

I had an issue with download my ING Direct transactions into Quicken 07 Mac. When I contacted quicken.com support they asked to contact quicken.ca support. Below is what I received from quicken.ca when I submitted my issue to them:
"I would like to inform you that we no longer supports Mac version in Canada because of the following reasons. If you want support for your existing version then please contact www.quicken.com
Why does Intuit not offer a Canadian Mac product?
Intuit always wants to provide our customers with the best possible end-to-end experience with our products and services. We do not feel that the US Quicken for Mac product will deliver this experience for Canadian users.
Can I use the US version of the product?
There is a US version of Quicken for Mac; however, it does not offer a full feature set to Canadian customers. This product is also experiencing some issues with downloading stock quotes. This is why we recommend our customers use a Canadian version of Quicken for the best product and experience.
Will the windows version of Quicken work on a Mac running XP, Vista or through an emulator?
We have not tested Quicken on the new Mac platform yet so we aren’t sure. We do offer a 60 day money back guarantee if you are not satisfied with the product or it doesn’t work on your system.
Why did you recommend the US product in the first place?
Although there are workarounds and modifications that can be made to the US product so it can work for most users in Canada, we found over time that the experience for our customers was not as good as it is for users of Canadian Windows-based users.
What issues might a Canadian user face using a product geared for the US Market?
    · Quicken for Mac is a US product that hasn’t been specifically developed for use in Canada
    · Quicken for Mac does not have the ability to print Canadian cheques based on the new standard from the CPA.
    · Quicken for Mac’s sales tax functionality is not as flexible as CDN versions of Quicken. Can be more cumbersome than time saving.
    · Customers who deal in multiple currencies will not be able to do so in the US Mac version.
    · Customers who track their investments in the Mac version are not able to use average cost basis, as required by CCRA

Thank you for the information. I currently use Quicken 2002 for Mac and am pretty satisfied with the tracking of personal data. Now I am planning to upgrade to a new iMac and wondering if my Quicken will run on the new machine. I would readily consider buying a new version of Quicken but as you have pointed out, Intuit Canada no longer produces a version for the Mac. Dang!
I'm not sure if a U.S. version would be able to import my data and allow me to carry on. I just want to be able to track bank deposits and chequing, credit cards and loans. I also need to be able to generate transaction reports - Quicken has been excellent for this feature. Downloading of bank account data for reconciliation is nice but not absolutely necessary for me. If anyone knows of an application that I could use in place of Quicken and could import all my old Quicken data, I would like to hear about it.

  • Mac Air not detecting NEC Mutlisync LCD display

Mac Air is not detecting an additional display. Any ideas?

same problem w/macbook air 13" with snow leop. minidisplay to dvi acer 24" external... intermittent the external won't wake up. After much research I see others have the same problem and no answers except: 1. plug/unplug dvi, 2. reset to sleep and rewake up -
This maybe connected to the monitor not auto detecting which input is connected after wake.  from what I see it's no better w/Lion or Mt Lion

  • Air not support img tag on textField?

    I try this:
    text_txt.htmlText = "<IMG src='myimage.jpg' id='image' /><P>This is my picture</P>";
    text_txt.text = text_txt.htmlText ;
    on Flash player
    out put is : <IMG src='myimage.jpg' id='image' /><P>This is my picture</P>;
    but on Air
    out put is : <P>This is my picture</P>;
    What's happened?
    Can you help me?
    and Sorry about my english.

    Hello,
Any possibility you could use the HTML control instead?  The textField control does not support the <img> tag in AIR due to security issues.  Here's the comment from the documentation:
For AIR content in the application security sandbox, AIR ignores img tags in HTML content in ActionScript TextField objects. This is to prevent possible phishing attacks.

  • Budapi on Mac - XCMD not supported?

I've used budapi for some time on Windows, but having
problems on Mac. On Intel OSX Mac with Safari 2, I get an error
"XCMD not supported". I got the Mac version 1.7 of Budapi,
flattened the file with the Mac Packager, and put the following
line in my map file to download it:
    bin mac "BudApi.aab" "BudApi"
    recycle,macbinary,type='Xtra',creator='Xown'
I can see that the Budapi xtra does get downloaded into the
same library folder as the RunA7M player - in Library:Internet
Plug-Ins:AuthorwareWebPlayer-PPC folder:AW70. It appears to have
the proper Mac structure - Get Info is all there.
I am running Safari in Rosetta mode to get the AW player to
    work.
I was trying to use baOpenFile, but to simplify things I just
tried to use baSystemTime to just get BudApi working.
Anyone know if there are issues with budapi on Safari / OSX /
    Intel Macbook? Thanks.

XCMD is the Mac version of a u32. AFAIK, Gary hasn't had an
    XCMD version of
this utility for many years if one ever existed. If you use
    the Xtra
version (functions will appear by PFM in the Xtra budapi
    function category
without being manually loaded), then the Xtra version should
    work fine.

  • Netflix & Amazon-Mac & Browser Not Supported Issues

Hello! I am having issues with both Netflix and Amazon's "Search Inside" with my MacBook Pro. I have all the lastest OS (10.7.2), browsers (Safari, Firefox, Chrome) and according to their (Netflix and Amazon) requirements everything is fine. I even have Silverlight (which I couldn't download from Microsoft because it kept saying "browser not supported.").
It can't be a coincidence that I am having the same exact issue on all three browsers on these two sites.
What could the connection possibly be? I am absolutely stumped!
    Thanks for the help!

Hi there, I meant that I was getting similar issues with both Netflix AND Amazon...separately.
That said, I figured it out. It was my virus protection. Apparently Netflix and Amazon's "Look Inside" don't like it. I should have figured out that the virus protection s/w was the issue. Netflix suggested it and they were correct.
Yeah, yeah, I know... Macs don't need virus protection. After some of the security issues that have been going on, I say 'better safe, than sorry." ;-)
Thanks for the response and help!
