Mac air was stolen erased but can't locate. Why?

My MacBook Air was stolen approx 2 weeks ago. I enabled the remote erasure feature and have just received an email today saying my mac was erased at 6.09 (-17hrs out of sync which would indicate either the time has been changed or it's in west Coast America). No location has been provided. Is it possible to get a location as it's obviously connected to the internet somewhere!

Since you wiped it you can no longer see the location.

My Mac Air was stolen, bought a Mac pro. How do I upload music from My Ipod to my new computer?

You don't... iDevices are not backup devices.
Move the media from the old computer to the new computer.

  • If my macbook air was stolen in MEXICO can it still be traced? :(

I was visiting in Mexico last weekend and my Macbook air was stolen is there any hope i can trace it with the serial # or does that only work in the US?

you can't trace it with the serial in the US either.  Believe me, if it was stolen in Mexico, it is loooong gone.  Of course, if you had "find my mac" installed before it was stolen, their may be a small chance you could locate it.

  • HT201441 My iPhone 4 s was stolen. How can I locate it?

Is there a way to track or trace location of my iPhone 4S.

If you had "Find My iPhone" enabled then you may be able to locate it. If not, you cannot locate it. If it was enabled then you can try locating it via http://icloud.com on a computer or the App "Find My iPhone" on another iDevice. Note: this will only work if your device is connected to a network and the device hasn't already been restored as new and/or "Find My iPhone" has not been disabled on it. Note: Disabling "Find My iPhone" is much more difficult in iOS 7.
If you think that your device was stolen then you should report it to the police. You should contact your carrier, change your iTunes account password, your email account passwords, and any passwords that you'd stored on websites/emails/notes etc.

  • My Mac Air was stolen May 2013- I got a call

My Mac book Pro was stolen May 2013 , I got a call yesterday but the guy claimed the message came across on an Ipad he bought from the Apple store, not a Mac book Pro is this possible?

Thanks, I did not think so, he claimed he just bought the Ipad 3 months ago from Apple, and just got the message, I suspected he was lying.  The device is locked,  so it is of no use to him I have given his # to the Detective handling the case.

  • My iPod was last synced on a Mac which was stolen. How can I save the music currently on it so when I use my new windows computer I won't lose everything?

I don't have access to any Mac computers, so I don't have that option at all.  And I'm not sure where any of my music was stored other than my iPod....it was possibly on another portable hard drive we still have so I might be okay, but I can't guarantee that.
Is there any way to save the music that's already on there, or is it going to automatically reset itself when I try to plug it in?
I have an older model iPod, if that makes a difference...can't remember exactly which but it's probably 2nd or 3rd gen.

Is there any way to save the music that's already on there
    Yes.
Launch iTunes on the new computer.
From the menu bar click Store / Authorize This Computer.
Connect the iPod to the P/C.
Now click File / Transfer Purchases From...

  • My Laptop (mac Air) was stolen on the 5th May, 2014 and I had a password on my computer in order to access it.  I am getting the impression that if the person cannot log on to the internet, my laptop cannot be traced.

What is the use of setting up the tracking feature if the person cannot get on the internet and it cannot be tracked without the use of the internet?

Can you go to a library or a friends house with an internet connection.
If so, go to iCloud.com and login with your Apple ID.

  • My mac book was stolen...

My mac book was stolen lastnight, what can I do to try to get it back? Can it be tracked? Please help....

No, it cannot be tracked unless you installed tracking software or registered it with Find My Mac on iCloud.com. Report the theft to the police. If you have a serial number you may even get it back it the thief ever pawns it. Also, report to your insurance company.

"Losing your iPhone feels lousy. Thankfully, iCloud can help you get it back. But if it looks like that’s not going to happen, new Find My iPhone features in iOS 7 make it harder for anyone who’s not you to use or sell your device. Now turning off Find My iPhone or erasing your device requires your Apple ID and password. Find My iPhone can also continue to display a custom message, even after your device is erased. And your Apple ID and password are required before anyone can reactivate it."

  • I was stolen my iphone Can I erase my data from the phone?

    I was stolen my iphone
Can I erase all my data from the phone from the cloud?
    - contact
    - notes
    passwords....?

If you activated Find My iPhone (in Settings>icloud), and if the device's batteries still have a charge, the device is not turned off and has not been reset and is connected to wifi, then you can try to track it.  Using a computer, log into icloud.com and look at the Find My iPhone page.  On a device, invoke the Find My iPhone app (get it for free at the itunes app store) and log into the icloud account.
If it is offline, then one of the requirements listed above is not met (like being connected to wifi, or if the device was stolen and the thief reset it).

  • HT4858 My iPhone was stolen and I can't find the photos...

My iPhone was stolen and I can't find the photos I took with it of a certain day from last week, only from the day before and the day after. How can I retrieve them?

If they are not on your 'My Photo Stream, you only other option is try to restore an iOS device from a backup of your lost iPhone (either via iTunes or iCloud, where ever you were backing up to).  Obviously you will need ot inherit and iOS device to do this.

How do I turn on My Photo Stream?
After your devices are up-to-date and you have set up your iCloud account, it’s easy to turn on My Photo Stream on any of your devices:
iOS devices: Go to Settings > iCloud > Photos (Photo Stream in iOS 6), then turn on My Photo Stream.
Mac: Go to System Preferences > iCloud, then select the checkbox for Photos (or Photo Stream). Click the Options button and verify that the My Photo Stream checkbox is selected. Open the application you want to use with Photo Stream (iPhoto or Aperture) and confirm that My Photo Stream is turned on in that application. You can also adjust your My Photo Stream settings in iPhoto or Aperture Preferences.
PC: Open the iCloud Control Panel for Windows and select the checkbox for Photos (Photo Stream in iCloud Control Panel 2.x). You can click the Options button to verify that My Photo Stream is enabled and adjust the settings. Be sure to click Apply when done.

    Restore from an iCloud backup
If you have a new iOS device, or if you need to restore your iOS device to resolve an issue, follow these steps.
Follow the initial steps in the iOS Setup Assistant (select your language, and so on).
Select Restore from iCloud Backup when the assistant asks you to set up your iPhone (or other iOS device).
Select the backup you created earlier.
You can restore a backup only by using the iOS Setup Assistant.
If you've already set up your device, you can erase all current content to go through the iOS Setup Assistant again. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. Do this only if you already have a backup, because this step will remove all current content from your device.
    Restore from an iTunes backup
If you have a new iOS device, or if you need to restore your device to resolve an issue, follow these steps:
Connect your iOS device to the computer that has your backup.
Make sure this computer has the latest version of iTunes.
Choose File > Devices > Restore from Back up.
If you're using iTunes 10.7 or earlier, right-click the device from the list and choose Restore from Backup.

What To Do If Your iDevice Is Lost Or Stolen
    iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad
If you activated Find My Phone before it was lost or stolen, you can track it only if it is connected to the Internet by Wi-Fi or cellular. What you cannot do is track your device using a serial number or other identifying number. You cannot expect Apple or anyone else to find your device for you. You cannot recover your loss unless you insure your device for such loss. It is not covered by your warranty.
If your iPhone, iPod, iPod Touch, or iPad is lost or stolen what do you do? There are things you should have done in advance - before you lost it or it was stolen - and some things to do after the fact. Here are some suggestions:

  • Being new to working with Mac, I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to set my Mac Book Pro wirelessly to the Canon Pixma Pro9000 Mark ll? My husband had gotten this printer and the sales person said that it can be set up wirelessly to my Mac Book Pro

Being new to working with a Mac, I was wondering if anyone can tell me step, by step on how to set up my Mac Book Pro(Mid 2012) wirelessly to a Canon Pixma Pro9000 Mark ll that my husband had gotten me? Sales person told him that it's compatiable to my Mac Book Pro, Mtn Lion, but I do not see it and I don't see how to do it wirelessly. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks ;o)

    Hello:
There is nothing wrong with asking questions.  There  are no dumb questions....answers, yes, but not questions.
If you set up your wi-fi router to establish a network, then both your printer and MacBook Pro will connect wirelessly.  *** I do not know what kind of router you possess, I don't want to suggest things that might not be relevant.
