Mac Airplay disconnects when computer falls asleep

Recently (and this is quite a new issue for me, probably after last Apple TV update), AirPlay disconnects right when the Mac goes to sleep. Apple TV stays on, just the AirPlay connection drops. I have to manually connect the computer again (with the AirPlay icon).
It didn't happen with previous versions of Apple TV and I set the sleep time to never.
What could be the issue?

Unchecking mirroring does not work either, leaving me with a screen resolution that's maybe fit for TV but unsuitable to work with when you want to carry on using your computer while music is playing on the Apple TV.
I start wondering if Apple is actually doing sufficient testing of their software. These are rather basic errors.

My network disconnects when computer falls asleep???

I am working on Verizon Fios wireless network and my computer loses the network everytime the computer goes to sleep. The only time it works is when I do a full strt up. I have to switch over to to my airport express network after waking the computer.
Is there some kind of setting I can change to help this stuation?

Wifi won't stay on if computer falls asleep

When my computer falls asleep the wifi won't stay on. I have to turn Wifi off and then back on for it to connect to the internet. Anyone have this problem? Anyone know how to fix it?

My MBA will often disconnect from the wifi while it's asleep --especially if I close the screen rather than leaving it to fall asleep with the screen open. I then need to go to the menu, find the home network, select it, and reconnect. It's not a big deal for me, but I can see how it might be for others.
Not sure if that's the same thing as what you have, but if it is, then yes, I have that problem too. And no, I'm afraid I don't know how to fix it.

PPPoE Still Disconnects When Computer Sleeps

With 10.9.2 and again with 10.9.3, PPPoE disconnects when computer sleeps. This didn't happen with OS 8.x, OS 9.x, OS X 10.2, 10.8.x, 10.9.0, or 10.9.1. System Preferences>Energy Saver is set for display and computer to sleep after about 12 minutes. I'd rather not set computer to never sleep. Please advise and correct for 10.9.4. Thank you.

I have the same issue. Also after wake-up connecting to PPPoE is a challenge, because it establishes only after 5-7 attemps (Authentication failed). I guess 10.9.3 update causes this.

Computer falls asleep while streaming content to ATV

WOAH! Now with iTunes 7.6.1, while watching streamed TV show from my firewire-attached HD to my iMac, the computer is allowed to fall asleep! Bad. Very bad. This has never happened before now. While watching ATV, 'content not found' message pops up the second the iMac goes to sleep. Anybody else getting this?

Click your Apple logo in the upper tool bar of your computer>Select system preferences>under hardware select energy saver>select NEVER under put the computer to sleep when inactive

I recently got an Apple TV for christmas. I hooked it up and everything was fine. I was able to play music when my computer(Mac Book Pro) was asleep and had no issues till I unplugged it and moved it to my bedroom. Everything is up to date and on the same Wifi connection. It isnt showing up in my itunes either.

Disconnecting when computer sleeps- will not reconnect

My grandfathers MacBook disconnects from wireless network whenever the computer goes to sleep/is temporarily shut. When it is opened back up, says it is not connected to the internet even though the Network is reading as working. Mail will not send either. The only way I can get it back in gear is running the Network diagnostics or simply restarting the computer.
Please Help.
OH- "Disconnect from wireless network when logged out" is NOT checked in system preferences

If he's using Preferred Networks, try the following ...
1. Delete Preferred Network(s)
o System Preferences > Network > AirPort > Configure
o In the "By default, join:" pull-down menu, select "Preferred networks"
o Delete the network(s) you regularly use from the list
2. Delete AirPort Keychain Entries
o Launch the "Keychain Access" application located in Applications/Utilties.
o Click on the "Kind" filter at the top, and look for any "AirPort network password" entries...and delete them.
o Restart, or log out then back in.
3. Add Preferred Network(s)
o System Preferences > Network > AirPort > Configure
o In the "By default, join:" pull-down menu, select "Preferred networks"
o Add the preferred network(s) using the "+" button.
o Restart or log out then back in.

Airplay disconnecting when sending and recieving a message

I use Airplay on my iPhone to stream music from the music app to my Apple TV. When sending and recieving a message over Skype or Facebook, my phone disconnects from Airplay, pausing the music.
Is this a common issue, and are there any known fixes, or do i just have to wait for Apple to fix this in a future update?

That is silly - Facebook message notifications are tiny. You can't provide some vague hand waving dismissal of the problem and blame network throughput.
I have the same issue - it's obviously a bug with iOS or Facebook. Airplay shouldn't disconnect every time a new message arrives. If I don't have Facebook open the same messages still arrive in the background and airplay works fine.
The issue is specific to a foreground app receiving notifications and then Airplay craps out.
Come on Apple, fix this!

my computer disconnect my wifi when the comp is not in use, i uncheck the "allow copmputer turn off the device..."
and its still turn him off.
the wifi device is broadcom 802.11n (bcm94313hmg2l) and i'm on windows 7 ultimate.

Sleep light of new model coming on when computer not asleep

I just got my new PB yesterday and one thing I noticed very quickly is that as soon as the screen shuts off the sleep light comes on. To be clear the computer is NOT asleep - in fact I turned off the "put hard disks to sleep" option just to confirm.
This didn't happen with my old ibook and doesn't happen with my boyfriend last rev 17" powerbook.
Any ideas?

When you first press the power button to turn on the PowerBook G4, the sleep indicator will also turn on. As the computer starts up, the indicator stays on until the display turns on. You can use this light as a diagnostic visual to determine whether the computer is getting power at startup.

Mail won't open after computer falls asleep - forced to force quit!

Hi there,
My mail won't open 85% of the time unless I force quit and restart my computer. Then, after my computer goes to sleep, I click on the stamp on my dock, and nothing happens. My computer says its still open. I've tried quitting mail and reopening from my Applications folder, but still, nothing happens, and I have to force quit my computer and restart so I can get/send my mail.
Any one have an idea for me? I have my gmail and another personal email set up as IMAP. Could there be a glitch in the way I set that up? Mail seems to come and go fine, when it's active.

Keyboard and Mouse Disconnect when computer hibernates

Everytime I get back to my computer, i have to hard reboot to get keyboard and mouse to connect??? Just started happening after years of use.

Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.

Release the keys.

External hard drive eject error when computer is asleep

Having some major problems with my iMac. It seems when the iMac goes to sleep I get an error saying the disk hasn't ejected properly. This is not the first hard drive to do so! Several months ago my Buffalo Drive Station would give me that error every night. This was before I was using Mavericks. I decided to upgrade and from that point on my hard drive wasn't recognized at all. I got the disk restored and bought a new Lacie. Everything has been fine for 2 months and now I am getting the same message on my Lacie Drive! I'm afraid whatever is going on is going to ruin the new Lacie.
I've seen some similar problems with other user who have said turning off "Put hard drives to sleep" int the Engery Saver preferences works. But I always had that off. Not sure what to do. Can anyone help?

So I would try going to System Preferences>Energy Saver, and if "Wake for network access" is checked, then uncheck it.

Samsung 4g lte wifi keeps disconnecting when computer in sleeep mode?

I just purchsed this product and whenever I put my computer to sleep within either minutes or hours the power is still on but nothing else is lit on my samsung 4glte. Is there something I should do so it is in standby for whenever I open my computer verses having to actually shut it off and turn back on again? Thanks

HT1338 While using Word or reading a PDF from a downloaded file, my computer falls "asleep" - backlight fades in and out. I tried adjusting energy saver but it didn't help.

My backlight dims as if sleeping while I am using my laptop, typing in word, reading a PDF, as I am typing right now. I tap on the light button to restore but it only temporarily does so. I have tried "energy saver" but have not been able to wake it up. Otherwise, it responds.
