.mac and mail

...here we go again!...just upgraded to Leopard and everything was fine, now mail won`t send and I can`t get Safari to open at all so can`t access my .mac account...help!!!...please remember I only speak English (and French) and don`t understand geekspeak...thanks

Hi Amanda
I see you have 31 posts to the forum here (many of them for this thread), so you probably have seen the format most people use. I agree with the other comments.. your posts are very hard to interpret.
My suggestion, if you want help, might be to format your posts so they are a bit easier to read. If you can structure your posts with sentences, paragraphs and spacing to include:
(1) description of the situation without the "..." and all the emotional bits,
(2) the solution you are seeking, and
(3) your Mac environment (connection to internet, computer setup, etc),
Then it might be easier as then the experts would know your setup, know what is happening and know what it is you would like to do.
The people here are only fellow users volunteering their time to help out.. if you want them to help , you might consider also carefully reading their replies to ensure that you answer whatever questions they ask you (which in this case you did not).
Just my 3 cents here..

  • I have a new Mac and mail is showing thousands of incoming mails that do not show up on the computer.  does anyone know what is going on?

I purchased a Mac OS x 10.9 in December. When using Mac Mail i get thousands of incoming mails that do not show up on my computer.  Does anyone have any idea what is going on?  this sure never happened on my old mac. i have three email accounts.  gmail, verizon and hotmail.

I posted the same question a day ago with no response. I'm using an Acer x193w. You actually don't have to switch monitors to get it to work. Just make sure you turn off the monitor after shutting down the Mac mini (actually push the power button on the monitor, not just let it go to sleep). If you turn on the monitor (push the power button on the monitor), then power up the Mac mini, the monitor is recognized. The issue didnt exist with Snow Leopard for me. It only started after I started using Lion. Hope this issue gets fixed In a future OS update.

  • .mac and Mail on a new Mac

I just switched to a new DualCore mac. I transferred my mail information from my previous G5 by saving the mail folder on the old machine and replacing the folder on my new machine. I imported my .pop mail account from work and it loaded just fine. However, my .mac account didn't work. I have deleted the prefs for mail and imported mail again, that didn' work. I have also deleted the .mac account and recreated it and that didn't work.
In system prefs, I have been able to hook up my .mac prefs, and also sync this machine, including the .mac account!!! But yet, my mail program will not let me connect to the .mac account. It insists I have the wrong settings.
I have checked with the old machine, the settings are fine.
    WHAT do I try next??
I hate to reload this entire machine just for my .mac mail. I also hate to switch to a non apple program like thunderbird to collect the mail.
    any clues?>??

  • Why would a font appear different between Ppt for mac and mail? specifically the lower case "v"... spelled in a sequence

I am using the Hipster Pro font... and when I use it in ppt for MAC, Evana-- the v in Evana has a swoop that extends outside and in mail it doesn't.
I'm not sure why this discrepancy exists as my logo doesn't have it and its causing me problems.
When I try and do a cut/paster for this box it changes it too.

Jeff is right about the two options for inserting a fonts character - but Most Importantly - he is also right in his statement (in agreement with mine) that if the audience machine does not have the font installed they will not see "Hipster Script Pro"
Here's what ya do - make it a "PICTURE" and insert it inline, just like we do here. If this Simple Editor can display it, you should be Golden.

  • Extreme difficulty settingup/logging on to accounts, .Mac, and mail.

My password is not accepted when I try to log in to System preferences / .Mac / are you a member. So I changed my password where it the link is for forgot password. It changed successfully, but I still can't log in. It still says incorrect password. And when I try to send mail, a message states password rejected for user. Please help.

    Hello,
the same thing is happening to me. When i first purchased my macbook i set up the gmail through mail and it would work fine. Even though my @mac account never worked, it always said the same thing, it never took my password. Now for some reason it doesnt even work on gmail, and i noticed it doesnt log on to msn either. there could be something that is blocking the acess to the "internet" that i am not aware of.

  • .Mac and Mail not playing well together

I am not able to use the .Mac account after someone else tried mailing themselves an email with many images from my computer. The message was too big to send and I could have done it another way. In any case, when I log into Mail the .Mac account hangs (spinning circle forever). When I iqut the program Mail either crashes or gives me the following message.
"Mail has undone actions on some messages so that you can redo the actions while online.
Additional information: Operation could not be completed. (MFMessageErrorDomain error 1028.)"
How do I stop whatever it is doing and make it so I can use the account again?

Did you ever get this resolved? I'm getting the same error with a local IMAP account, so it's not just .Mac that's having trouble.

  • .Mac and Mail Problem

Several days ago an email was sent via my .Mac account. The email had an attachment that was too large so I deleted the message. The problem is that each time I try to use Mail and take the .Mac account online it attempts to send the message and when it cannot it recreates the message in the drafts folder. If left to its own accord there are several copies of the message in that folder. I have not ben able to download any emails during this time and surfing the web is extremely slow.
How do I kill this process for good? I have tried stopping all processes via the activity monitor. This just crashes the application.

I was able to change the preferences in Mail so that syncing and adding files to the server were not done. I then closed the application and restarted it again. The issue remained but then I reset the preferences to the original settings and restarted again. The problem now is resolved.

  • Sync error between mail on .mac and on mail

I just got an iPod Touch, and when I connect it the sync program starts. The only issue I have is a conflict between my email accounts on .mac and mail. I have selected the one I want to use for the correct account information, but it does not save the information (regardless which one I choose). When I try to change the mail account on my computer the changes don't save. I assumed the settings would transfer to .mac, but apparently not and I can't find where to make the changes. Thanks.

iSync is only for syncing Contacts and Calendars to non-Apple mobile phones. You'd be better off asking in the MobileMe iPod touch Mail forums here:

  • What will happen to my mac e-mail account if I don't go to Icloud

I have just updated to Snow Leopard but do not want to add the extra memory to run Lion.  When Mobile me finishes if I don't join icloud will I still have an email account with mac.  I do not have anyother mac devises so really don't think I need icloud?

If you do not migrate your MobileMe account to iCloud before the end of June it will cease to work, everything will be deleted, and you will lose your email address.
You can migrate from MobileMe to iCloud at http://me.com/move even with Snow Leopard: when asked to confirm that your Mac is running Lion just lie and say 'yes'. Of course you won't be able to access iCloud directly from your Mac.
If you have MobileMe mail set up to collect mail from external POP accounts you should cancel this before migrating, or you may find it still working in iCloud (where it isn't supposed to) and with no way of stopping it.
This will be the situation with Snow Leopard when you have migrated:
Your email, calendars, and 'Find my iPhone' will be migrated to iCloud. Contacts and Bookmarks cannot be migrated from a Snow Leopard Mac.
Your iDisk, together with website hosting and Gallery, will continue to work as before until next June.
Syncing of Dashboard Widgets, Dock Items and Keychains between Macs, and Mail Accounts, Mail Rules, System Preferences, Signatures & Smart Mailboxes between Macs & iOS devices, will cease altogether.
You will be able to access email and calendars on the iCloud website at http://icloud.com provided your browser is reasonably up-to-date.
You will not be able to sync contacts or bookmarks from a pre-Lion Mac.
You will be able to enter the server settings for email manually in the Mail application and access your email.
You will not be able to sync your calendars directly.
Some people have been able to set up calendar syncing by using the method detailed here - this is an unsupported hack and may not be reliable, and may stop working at some future point.  BusyCal is an iCal-like calendar application with extra facilities: it can sync with the iCloud Calendar while running on Leopard, Snow Leopard or Lion.
There appears to be no method of syncing contacts (though Address Book on a Mac can be synced with Google or Yahoo address books - I don't know how reliable this is).

Ok Apple users...Is there a way to delete e-mails on my Mac and not have to delete the same e-mails on my iPhone, and iPad...and vise-versa. I have the Cloud, and thought that everything would sync all of the time. If you know of a setting I need to adjust, please let me know.

Are you referring to @mac.com, @me.com or @icloud.com emails? Or some other email providers emails?
If the former, it should do that automatically. If the latter, no. iCloud does not (nor is it supposed to) sync non-Apple provided emails.

  • App store and Mail app are crashing in my mac air 10.9.5

All my apps are crashing and i am not able to open any of them . App store for Software update and Mail app, Photos app are all crashing. I have OS X 10.9.5 in my system. I removed Parallels trail version and also Clean My Mac app, Still i have the issue,Please help me to resolve the issue,

"CleanMyMac" purports to "clean up" "junk" files. What it really does is to corrupt the operating system and many applications.
The first thing you need to do is remove that software according to the developer's instructions. Never install it, or anything like it, again. Then see below.
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main Recovery screen.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode. All other data will be preserved.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.9 ("Mavericks"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.

  • TS4002 i click on my mail icon to open it on my mac and nothing happens. my inbox just doesnt pop up.

i try and open my email on my mac and nothing comes up. itll show mail in the bar above. it wont even let me shut my mac off because it says i need to quit mail and i got to quit and it won't do a single thing!

    Hello sydny_lynn,
It sounds like you do not see the Mail window, and you are not able to quit Mail to shut down your computer.  I found a couple of resources that might help with this.
It may be that the Mail window is hidden.  You can follow these steps to show all windows to make it visible:
Show all open windows in an application
Press and hold the application’s icon in the Dock. You may have to first open the application from Launchpad to see its icon in the Dock.
From the shortcut menu that appears over the icon, choose Show All Windows or Show Recents. The smaller thumbnails are for closed documents you recently worked in.
To make a window active, click it.
You can find the full article here (the title of the article says Lion, but it applies to other versions of OS X as well) :
OS X Lion: Hide and show windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4150
If those steps do not help, you may need to force quit Mail:
To force quit an application, choose Force Quit from the Apple menu (or press Command-Option-Esc), then choose the unresponsive application in the Force Quit window, and click Force Quit.
You can find the full article here:
Mac OS X: How to quit an unresponsive application using Force Quit
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3411
Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities.
    Best,
    Sheila M.

It is not clear how or where you "added" your email, but you cannot create an Apple ID using an email address that is already associated with another Apple ID.
If that is what you did, delete that email address from your family's Apple ID. You should be free to create a new one.
Do all that by starting here: https://appleid.apple.com/
Select "Manage your Apple ID". Log in with your family's Apple ID and then delete your own email address wherever it appears.
Save Changes, log out, and create the new one using the same website. This time select "Create an Apple ID".
Please don't forget your security questions, and be sure to specify a "rescue email address" that is separate from all other Apple IDs. You will avoid so many problems that way...
