Mac App icon missing

I just realised I should have a Mac App icon on my macbook pro! I can't find it - I've looked in Apps folder, bu the icon picture is not the Blue Circle, it's a boring looking pieve of paper with a pen, paper & ruler in the rh corner. If I try to open it I get an "App store quit unexpectedly" message. If try & locate the app from finder I get the same message. I don't know how long I've had this missing, I've had the laptop for a while, running Snow Leopard 10.6.8

First thing, download and apply the combo updater for 10.6.8, whether you currently have it or not. That should bring you an App store icon, at least in your applications folder.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

Numbers App Icon Missing

I was copying the app to another computer, but it got interrupted. Now Numbers has no App Icon. Just the default one. How can I get the app icon back, without reinstalling iWork?

Note that the iWork '08 installer requires that you install its applications to your current startup drive. This implies that the installer adds to or modifies system files in addition to installing the application packages, although Apple never states that explicitly.
With this in mind, my recommendation would be to install the application only as the installer requires, & not by copying iWork's individual application packages from mac to Mac. It may make no appreciable difference, but why take the chance that sometime in the future it will lead to problems with one of the iWork apps or documents?
Also, it would be a good idea to read the license terms & make sure that you are not violating them by installing the apps on more than one computer.

Why is the Mac HD icon missing in the Startup Disk window?

The Mac HD icon is missing in the Startup Disk window in the Lion Partition on my iMac. It is also missing from the Snow Leopard partition. I did not install Lion on my MacBook and the Mac HD icon is in the Startup Disk.

Any ideas about this?

I am currently in the same situation, and have Paragon installed on my Mac. Furthermore the Option key does not work when I try to hold it down during startup.

Bridge App Icon Missing & now Crashing

Recently the Bridge App Icon "disappeared" from the CS4 Master Collection group in the XP Start | All Programs | Adobe Master Collection CS4 drop-down. So the only way I could launch Bridge was from within another CS4 app, no big deal. But now when I try and launch bridge I get a blue screen and Crash. Any Idea why? Tried to un-install/reinstall Bridge, apparently this is not allowed. Any advise would be appreciated.

Can you establish a start icon on the desktop for Bridge and then reset the preferences? Hold down the Ctrl key and click on start icon. You should get a reset window. Choose all 3 options.

ITunes 9.2.1 & iPhone 3GS iOS 4.0.1 - Apps Icons Missing After Sync

As stated on the title.
It was syncing fine with all the icons and everything when I was running 3.1.3, but after i updated to the new iOS and the new iTunes, the apps have been getting funky. Sometimes they'll go missing or moved around quite a bit. Anyone else have this problem? I have two other co-workers with the same problem. I am running Windows 7 64-Bit
First co-worker: 3GS on iOS 4.0.1 & iTunes 9.2.1 - Using Windows XP
Second co-worker: 3G on iOS 3.1.2 & iTunes 9.2.1 - Using Windows 7 32-bit
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Is this a common problem with the new iTunes?

I had the problem where I got an unknown error when upgading from 3.1.3 to 4.0.1 last night. It put my phone into recovery & said that I had to restore it. Tried to twice but I still kept getting the unknown error message. Wasn't until I restarted my computer that it let me restore.
All of my music, videos, contacts, etc are fine. But I found that none of my apps were restored to the phone. So I had to go back through & manually drag each one back onto the iPhone in iTunes and then re-sync it. But now none of the apps will load or open. I have tried switching the phone off & back on a number of times but it hasn't helped.
Next I am going to try to restore again & see if that helps. From what I understand, the apps should have also been restored from the previous backup. Am not sure what happened in my case though

Mac App Store missing in 10.6.8

Hello,
i reinstalled my Imac 27 after HDD Crash and Replacement.
I made a complete fresh install from my SL DVD and the made alle the updates to 10.6.8.
But my App Store ist not showing in the Main Menu and under programs there is the standard tool icon for the app store (not the app store icon).
When i click it nothing happes.
When i want to reinstall manually the 10.6.6 update i get an error that i got to have at least 10.6.6 installed ????
I need the appstore urgently to install some apps ??? Please help.

App icon missing from my Itouch

Recently returned back to work and went to access my "keeper" app to access all my pass codes but the icon has disappeared from the touch. When I connect to iTunes it comes up with the Keeper icon and has a remove label which would suggest that iTunes still thinks the program is on the touch, can anyone direct me to finding my program?

Can you find it with the search feature?
What happens when yo try to redownload it directly to the iPod by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Do you have any Restrictions set that would hide that app? Settings>General>Restrictions

Facetime App Icon Missing ?

Hi,
I bought my ipod touch 4th generation two weeks ago from iStyle in UAE.
But I noticed that there is no "FaceTime" icon between the apps.
However, one of my friends has bought an ipod from a store in UAE and he got the "FaceTime" icon. I asked him how did he got the icon he said I don't remember. When he first bought his ipod there was no "FaceTime" icon.
Is there a way I can get the icon back?

App icon missing

I previously downloaded app and it was working fine. For some reason the icon is no longer on my iPad. I tried to re-install the app, but it is showing up as installed already, therefore cant download again! When I sync to my computer, iTunes screen displays the app as installed as well.....what gives? I've tried scrolling to see if it went over to a different screen, but no luck. PLEASE HELP!

Check the Restrictions setting for your iPad. If you have restricted Apps content, then any apps that fall outside your allowed apps setting will NOT show up on your iPad screen, even though they may display within iTunes. Change the setting back to all and the apps should reappear.

It most likely got pushed to another page. Try swiping all the way from right to left. Folders in iOS 7 have pages also.
If it is in a folder it will be identified on the right of the app in the search results.
