  • Mac App Store works fine for buying/installing new software, but times out when looking for updates. Help?

I just got a (lightly) used Mac Mini as a second computer (2010 model). Logged into Mac App Store with my Apple ID and tried to check for updates...received "An error has occurred - The request timed out" message. Was able to go to the main App Store page and download/install OS X Mountain Lion...then tried again and still got the time-out error. Any ideas of what is happening and how to get Software Update to work?

Apps already installed by the former owner of the Mini are associated with that persons Apple iD. You won't be able to update any of those apps using your Apple iD. Those apps will have to be purchased from your Apple ID only.
Apparently the previous owner had not upgraded to Mountain Lion as yet, or you would not have been able to download and install that OS X.

  • Mac apps not working

Everyone has been telling me about how you can get apps on your laptop, all of my friends are able to get them but for some reason I can't access them on my computer. My software is all up to date, I have a MacBook version 10.5.8. I know it's a couple years old, but it should still work? Help please?

In order to get apps from the Mac App Store, you would have to be running Mac OS Snow Leopard (10.6), not 10.5. If your Mac meets the system requirements, you can purchase 10.6 online or in retail stores for $29; once installed, you can update it to the 10.6.6 version which contains the Mac App Store.

  • Migrating Mac Apps not working

My old MacPro motherboard died so I removed the hard drive and migrated everything to my new Macbook Air. The problem is the iLife Suite. Pages, Numbers, etc wont open. When I click on them I get  "___________ cannot open because there is a problem". I go the App store "My Purchases" and they do not show purchased (?). So, I try to buy on App store, again, but it wont let me because it says they are already installed. What up?

Did you purchase the iWork and iLife apps from the Mac App store?
If you did, delete the iWork folder and re-install from the Mac App Store.
If you didn't, you will need to reinstall from your install disks.

  • How does the Mac App Store work?!

Hey guys i recently posted this quesiton in a different area of the community but instead of being helped was just ridiculed for posting in the wrong place... +1 for helpfulness guys :/ lol Anyways... ive been told to ask in the development section.. I have a $9.99 app and it was sitting at 10th place in the top grossing apps a few weeks ago on the UK app store, now I noticed in the morning that it was ahead of an app which was 49.99 so i presumed that I must have sold at least 5 or 6 to be ahead of him (my idea of top grossing is quantity x price) but when itunesconnect released their reports in the afternoon it turned out that i'd only sold 1 copy.. so what im asking is basically how does the top grossing section work? and how regularly does it update? is it live? daily? etc
    Thanks in advance!

Your rank is better than the other app because you've made a sale while they've made none. When you make a sale, you jump in the charts, and after that you slowly go down if you don't make another sale. In other words, the bottom of the charts has many apps that didn't make any sale recently. I've also noticed that if you make some sales in other countries than the current chart, that'll very slightly improve your rank.

  • Alarm mac app the works with screensaver password enabled?

I am looking for an alarm clock app on my Macbook (running Mavericks) that would work even if I have the screensaver/sleep password enabled.
Of course, I want the Macbook go to sleep during the night.
Does anyone know of such an application?
I have looked through the app store, and searched the web, to no avail.
I used to use Aurora, and liked it, but it, too, works only, if the screensaver password is disabled.
(And after someone stole my Macbook, I'd rather have the screensaver password enabled.)
Any hints, pointers, or ideas will be highly appreciated.
    Best,
    Gabriel.

  • What Mac app will work with Newsstand

I run a small stable of Macs, currently limited to 2 iMacs, 1 iPad3 and an iPhone.  I like Newsstand on the iPad, however I would love to use the Cloud to allow all my current Apple products to use the info in Newsstand and to share items from the Mac to the iPad on Newsstand or something similar.  I can and do use Pages currently to run my stuff but I would rather a more structured system. Any ideas.   Running 10.8/10.6/iOS7 and 6

Ya think?  Of course Newsstand isn't available for the Mac line, that is why I was wondering if anyone out there had a way to share information like it is on the Newsstand app for the Mac Line which will share to the iPad/iPhone iOS things.  I have Pages, which will allow me to put the stuff into it and save, and it will share to all that have it installed.  However I want to just have the items that I currently have put into Newsstand shared between all the OS X and the iOS units and I cannot do that using Pages unless I get rid of all the other stuff that is using it to cross platforms.
I get the feeling I will have to use the electronic reader software to cross the barrier.

  • Error updating CC on Mac, apps not working anymore

Hi Jeff, I'm using OS X Mavericks 10.9.1
In the first attachement you can see the Creative Cloud screen that always stays blank.
In the second attachement you can see an error screen (more a pop up) that show an errro after I tried to login with my Adobe ID. I have to do that when I start up any of the Adobe apps (Photoshop, Premier, Acrobat etc).

  • I can't access the mac app store even though I have 10.6.8!

I have a MacBook 1.83GHz and I have just downloaded 10.6.8 and I have the mac app store in my dock but it has a line through it and says I need 10.7 to open it. Before downloading 10.6.8 I still had it in my dock but it said i needed 10.6.8 to open it.... I am really confused why I need 10.7 to open it as i thought you needed 10.6.8! How can i get the mac app store working!!???
    Katy

You don't have the Snow Leopard version. Perhaps you didn't install Snow Leopard since you cannot download it. You must purchase it:
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mavericks if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.

  • Enabling OCSB/CRL in Keychain Access slows down Mac App Store

Today I wandered why the Mac App Store on my Macbook Pro is much slower than it used to be, clicking on "Purchased" tab even froze the Mac App Store and I had to force quit of the App Store. Then I remembered that I turned on OCSB/CRL in Keychain Access because of the Comodo security breach. I turned off this feature and instantly the Mac App Store worked as fast as a few weeks ago.
My question: this security feature is very essential, even after the Comodo story. And I don't think that I am the only one who uses this feature, I read several articles about this after the Comodo incident. Will there be a fix for this problem? Will there be a Mac App Store that remains usable with OCSB/CRL enabled?
    Marcus

    I know it's not real helpful, but that's a little better than my 164 KB/s AT&T DSL.
If other sites are loading faster and at the expected speed, then you might try later when there are less user's accessing the App Store.

  • Download mac app to multiple macs

Does anyone know if the mac app store works the same as the iPad app store works as far as being able to sync app to multiple macs. If so. Has anyone tested it.

And for future reference, there is a forum specifically for the Mac App Store:

  • Mac App Store (advanced)

I am looking for an in-depth explanation of how the Mac App store works. Especially, how does it talk to Apple's servers to download files? What URL does it connect to (if it does)?
I work at an institution that uses an internet filter. We want to be sure there is no conflict with between the URL's that Software Updates and the App Store use.
(I have searched support.apple.com, but no luck.)
    Many thanks

I have not been able to find details as to the domains the Mac App Store uses, but here are the ones used by the iTunes Store, so those would be a place to start:
    Ports:
    port 80
    port 443
    Domains:
    phobos.apple.com, deimos3.apple.com, albert.apple.com, gs.apple.com, itunes.apple.com, ax.itunes.apple.com
    Regards.

  • About The Mac App Store?

About The Mac App Store? is it doing well in Business, like do a lot of people go on it & buy & download Free Apps? cause I Worry what if it will be like if we had no Mac App Store like we used to? then I Would never be able to really find anything good if Apple did not come up with Something Papular to find Games Apps & other apps, I Go on Mac App Store & i look at Reviews but it is not up to today's date, very few of them have up to today's dat Reviews & Some don't even have any Reviews & some only have 1 Review in there that is up to date, it looks like Apple Mac App Store is Dead? or there just not Accepting Reviews?, so is The Mac App Store doing well? or is it ready to go out of Business? I Love The Mac App Store, I do buy things on there, last thing I Bought was FlatOut 2 & I Left a Review, if there was No Mac App Store then it will be Hard to find App's, they made The Mac App Store to find Apps more easy if we go back the other way then it would be hard to find Apps & that would suck, like it used to, we had to go through a Whole List to find something, that was the old way around I do have a Suggestion, I think they should make the Mac App Store for PC Microsoft Computers & name it The PC App Store even though i'll never go back to Microsoft PC Computers, i'm sticking with Apple iMac Computers from now on, so what are your Opinion on The Mac App Store? I Never have any trouble at all on My 2009 24inch Apple iMac computer, all The Apps that I Buy on The Mac App Store work Excellent  on My Machine & The Mac App Store works Excellent as well, I buy a lot of Car Racing Games on The Mac App Store & Some other Apps I Buy on The Mac App Store are not all Up To Date, I check MacUpdate they say a New version is Available but The Mac App Store has the low version on some Apps, I see there falling behind on some things, so what's your opinion on The Mac App Store? & they don't Update there Twitter page often? but I see there still putting New Apps on The Mac App Store every day, I Hope things don't go back the old way again? just wondering what will happen in the future for The Mac App Store?

If you're a developer with proper access, you can read this document: http://developer.apple.com/devcenter/mac/checklist/
Title: "Get your mac apps ready for the mac app store"
It covers all that's needed to modify in your application's package in order to submit it and have it work with the Mac App Store. Apple's new framework (similar to an API) for the app store is the "AppKit" framework.

  • Mac App Store is stuck looking for itunes.

Mac App Store is stuck on "One moment please connecting to the itunes store". The mac app store works on the laptop and itunes store works on all devices as well. I have purchased many apps on the iphone, ipad and even itunes on the imac. The Mac App Store will not let me log into my apple id either. Can anyone help? Please

@dah-veed - I have tried that and all of the information is correct. I downloaded a song and it went through in iTunes. However the Mac app store is still lookin for iTunes. I downloaded iTunes 10.2.2 and reinstalled it. Did not help the Mac app store. I read a couple of articles saying that I will need to re-downloaded 10.6.6 to install a new copy of the Mac app store. I did. Still no help. I went as far as re-downloading 10.6.7. Still the Mac app store is looking for iTunes to no avail.
