Mac App Store - billing verification

I just got a new MacBook Pro (first one!) and I wanted to install some applications. When I try to buy one, however, a dialogue box pops up, saying that I need to sign in and verify my billing info. When I enter my information and click "Billing Info" though, nothing happens. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong?

Close the Mac App Store. Open iTunes and log into your account through the iTunes Store and make sure that all of the billing information is up-to-date; bank card #, billing address, security code, etc. Drop down and reset the notifications as well. Open and try the MAS again.

  • Can you use a Canadian apple account/billing address on the mac app store in the uk

    What up
Just wondering, can you use a canadian apple account with a canadian visa and billing address to purchase apps from the mac app store in another country (England)
    Merci

    Hi..
The issue is that your credit or debit card credentials must be associated with the same country where you reside.
"Although you can browse the iTunes Store in any country without being signed in, you can only purchase content from the iTunes Store for your own country. This is enforced via the billing address associated with your credit card or other payment method that you use with the iTunes Store, rather than your actual geographic location."

Billing policy is the same for both the iTunes and Mac App Stores.

  • Why is the Mac App Store loading the wrong Apple ID when I try to redownload my copy of Lion?

    Pretext:
I purchased my MacBook Pro 17" Back in March of 2011 from MicroCenter in Madison Heights, MI. Later I purchase OS X Lion 10.7 from the Mac App Store on July 23rd, 2011 under my Account along with a couple of other programs. I know it is under my account because, I have redownloaded the OS X Lion Installer twice before (10.7.1 and 10.7.2), making my own bootable copies on USB drives as emergency copies.
Now my Apple ID has never changed, the password is still the same as when I set it up back when I signed up for my iTunes Music Store account, the only thing changed is my payment options (reissued debit cards, and a bank switch). The account has always been mine alone, never part of any family account or anything of the sort. Outside of that, nothing has ever been editted on my accounts.
Last month my father decides to finally update from his 2002 Power Mac G4 (QuickSilver) to a new MacBook Pro a month ago. I show him how to make a bootable USB stick so he can always have an immediate backup installer. Both him and I are on AT&T which likes to cap bandwidth so remote installs are an insane proposition. He makes his own bootable USB stick of 10.7.3., and in an effort to save bandwidth I borrow it and make a duplicate.
Now I did boot from the copy of the USB stick, but never installed, I just wanted to make sure it loaded just in case. Anyway, I quit of out the installer return to my usual start up disk (OCZ Vertex 3 120GB) and continue on. Eventually I download the 10.7.3 update through the System Update. All is well and fine. Couple weeks later, I decide to make another fully bootable USB stick, go to redownload from the App Store (new AT&T billing cycle) and now it is asking me for my father’s Apple ID and Password. It refuses to take my Apple ID and password and tells me there is an error and tells me to try again shortly.
So I turn on the Mac App Store Debug Menu, clear cookies, and reset the app. I try to redownload again, but his Apple ID is still on my machine. He has never used this machine, not once. How do I fix this?
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Don't want the Mac App Store

I'm one of those rare fruit (Mac) users who doesn't care for itunes or anything of the sort (I'm really not a Mac fan; I got the computer because I can abuse it more and have it still function with the solid state hard drive). I hate seeing updates for itunes. I imagine the Mac App Store is similar (although for the OS), and I don't want it. How do I install 10.6.6 without installing the Mac App Store?
Also, I read in another thread that a fruit can hibernate. How would I do this? I hate the battery drain when I put it to sleep, and frequently have a bunch of stuff open because I'm completing a long project, like a 60+ page paper that takes me multiple days, if not multiple weeks to complete. Thanks.

That's a good idea (leaving it plugged in all the time) aside from the fact that I'm cheap as heck. Being poor has something to do with it since I'm a grad student. When I'm not using my printer, can opener, toaster, etc. I unplug them or turn them off. Because of this, during the summer I'm able to have electric bills under 20 dollars a month for my apt. I used to even turn of my router every night when I wasn't using it but got fed up with resetting it every time. I also don't use air conditioning and live in KY (my asthmatic lungs react better to heat with humidity than dryness, and to save $). I know - I'm completely different than the norm, but I get by with my quirks. How much do you think it would cost me extra a year to leave my computer plugged in and "sleeping" every night?
If I go into itunes with the preferences, could I make it so itunes never looks for updates? Thanks again.

  • My country is not listed in the Mac app store and iTunes?

My country is not listed in the Mac app store or iTunes. and yes ive tried putting in false information like 'I live in the USA, NY' but whenever i try buying something it says "Your credit card information does not match your banks records, Please enter a US billing card.. and such. Because of this i have no choice but to use what you call 'pirated' applications. Any help fellow mac users?

    Sorry, but it's Apple's policy...

  • Mac app store update issues

I cannot update apps from the mac app store: it says I must sign into the account I used to purchase they app, and I am, and I have no other account. What's wrong?

Try resetting your Apple ID.  Apple - My Apple ID
If that doesn't help, install the v10.6.7 combo update. Mac OS X v10.6.7 Update Combo
Restart your Mac after the combo is installed. Launch the MAS then try updating apps.
It's ok to install the combo if you already have v10.6.7 installed. It includes bugs fixes that may help.
    Still have problems...

  • Purchase OS MOuntain Lion through Mac App Store but it stated error has occurred.

    Hi,
    Need help here.
I purchase OS X Mountain Lion tgrought Mac App Store but it stated an error has occured and it was not completely download.
In the purchase box, the application is under "other purchase" and the button is blank. I can't resume download despite its stated error.
However purchase has been billed in my credit card.
My current OS X version is 10.7.5.
Please help how to download again and if cannot how to get the money back ?

Look in the Applications folder for the Mountain Lion installer. If you find it or a partial download, delete it and see if you can start the download again.

  • Why isn't OS X Mountain Lion not downloading from Mac App Store?

    Hi all,
I have recently downloaded the OS upgrade to Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store for £13.99, and it is't downloading. Since purchasing I have received the bill from Apple outlining I have purchased the item. But nothing has happened as yet. I have looked under purchases in the Mac App Store and it just shows the progression bar...
    79.3 MB of 4.37 GB - Calculating...
I have restarted my IMac many times and still nothing!!!
What can I do?? I have the icon for Mountain Lion in the dock but the only options available I can see are... Pause, or Cancel Download.
    Please help!!!
I am running Mac OS X  version 10.6.8
    Thanks in advance

It looks stuck, and at this point, you probably ought to cancel the download and start it over again. (No worries about paying again... once you buy something in the App Store, you own it for as long as it stays in the store and can re-download it all you like.)
Also, before you consider installing the upgrade, note that there are some things you should do:
    1) Check all your software for compatibility with the new system.
    2) Repair the hard drive with Disk Utility.
    3) Make a full backup of your whole system using Time Machine.
    4) Ideally, make a second full backup of your whole system using something else, like Carbon Copy Cloner. (I consider two backups to be the minimum.)
    5) Wait until you have time to deal with any possible problems that crop up.
    6) Install the upgrade.
Some people recommend erasing your hard drive and installing the new system "cleanly." That certainly helps ensure that you don't have any problems with the new system, but is often unnecessary. I prefer to save clean installs for when they are actually necessary, but that is only an opinion. You can certainly choose to do a clean install if you prefer.

  • Itunes store and mac app store keeps quitting automatically on mountain lion

itunes store and mac app store quits automatically with an error message .....

    hi, I am the same U :
i'm from a country from the middle east called Palestine, and there is no store for it in the mac app store and i keep trying to buy os x mountain lion from the app store and it keeps saying invalid number can anybody help pease?
    Jul 23, 2013 1:14 PM (in response to majsl243)
I think that you know as well as anyone here that there is not yet a legal entity known as the nation of Palestine. There is the Palestinian Territories that are administered currently by the nation of Israel. So if you are going to use the iTunes Store or the Mac App Store, you likely have to use the Israeli Store with a bank card from a local bank with a local billing address. If you cannot supply those bank credentials, then you will likely need to get an iTunes Gift Card for the Israeli Store and buy content that way.
    now...
I tried to enter the Apple store to buy some programes, Although I have electronic shopping card, and tried to give it's informations as accurately as possible, but it was rejected because the numbers are not included in the list of their country, so what can i do to solve this problem, because my country Palestine is not included in the list of the country that are known to the store, when i put Israel also it was rejected and I want to buy this store programs

  • Mac App Store - Different Country Purchases

I live in Japan but have bank accounts and credit cards in the US and Japan, and for that reason I have two Apple IDs, one for each country. As such *I would want the ability to buy software from the Mac App Store in the US and Japan*, especially since my wife is Japanese and she uses Japanese language software (whereas I prefer English software). Here is what Apple says about the Apple ID being tied to country:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2204
So it appears that I can switch between the US and Japan Mac App Store simply by my Apple ID back and forth (which unfortunately is troublesome). Even so, I am curious *how the Mac App Store will manage the software* I have purchased and installed, if some was bought from the Japan Mac App Store and other software bought from the US Mac App Store. Will it only manage my Japanese software (e.g., download updates for it) while I have my Japan Apple ID setup in the Mac App Store preferences? And then it will only start managing my English software when I switch to my US Apple ID in the prefs? If so, then I see no benefit to me for the Mac App Store. The big benefit to using the Mac App Store is seamless and convenient software management.
Please know that I have not yet installed 10.6.6 or used the Mac App Store. I've not done that yet because I view the current One-Click Buy method as being dangerous. However, seeing that I am not alone in feeling such, I am quite certain Apple will address that flaw rather quickly. But I am posting here today so I can find out about purchasing software from different Mac App Stores (based on country) and "software management" prior to committing to the Mac App Store for my future software purchases. If I am able to buy Japanese software through the US Mac App Store, the point of my post here today would be moot. But from what I understand, that won't be allowed.
I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
    Thanks.

The Mac App Store account is actually an iTunes account. If you already have an iTunes account I suggest that you visit that account before opening the Mac App Store app and signing in. Go to iTunes and enter the iTunes Store. Make sure that you are logged into your iTunes account. Then view your account. Make sure that the payment method is configured as you want to use this account; either with a bank card, without a bank card, with an iTunes Store gift card(s), or if available, a PayPal account.
Once you have your iTunes Store account as you want it, quit iTunes. Open the Mac App Store app and sign in using your iTunes Store account ID. Now just a simple verification should be all that you are required to do and it should not activate 1-click purchases. It should not ask you for any bank card information and you should be able to "buy" all of the free apps that you would like, even if you opted out of having a bank card in your iTunes Store account.
If you do not have an iTunes Store account, I suggest that you go to iTunes and open an account there first and not try to set up your account initially in the Mac App Store. Since you already have an Apple ID for the Apple Discussions all will be much more simple if you use that for your iTunes Store account also.
As far as managing the apps that you buy, my experience with the MAS is the same as with the iTS, my Mexico Store account recognizes my installed apps from my US account and even shows me when there is an update available and vice versa, but to actually install the update I must sign into the account that I used to originally download and install the account.

  • Is Mac App Store only for USA?

I tried to sign in my ID and activate the account as per the steps set for first time user. However, when I comes to the PayPal part, it barred me from proceeding further. The error message was my PayPal was not registered in USA. Must the buyer have USA billing address? How can other countries user purchase app from your MAC App Store then?
    Regards,
    kim

Usually you are restricted to making purchases from the iTunes Store, and so also the Mac App Store for your country of residence. So you cannot use a bank card or a PayPal account from Malaysia in the US Mac App Store or iTunes Store. Just as I cannot use Mexican accounts in the US stores.
The only way that the system would allow you to make purchases in the US Stores from Malaysia would be if you have a US bank card or PayPal account and the billing address for the account is a US address. Even though this usually works I believe that it is actually a violation of the Terms of Use for the Apple Stores.

  • Mac App Store - one-click checkout too easy

Accidentally clicked buy on an app I have no intention of buying nor downloaded but now it is in my purchased applications. Sensitivity of MBP Touchpad plus no confirmation dialog that you validate the purchase is pretty crappy.
How do I disput this charge and get this off my bill?

I have asked around and the "one-click checkout" may be related to the iTunes back-end database. Some people, myself included, have to be really careful with out trackpads to avoid purchasing a $49.99 egg timer. Other people I've asked say they are prompted for confirmation each time they purchase.
My advice is to carefully look for a couple of free applications and download them to see what your behavior is. I tried that and then tried again with a couple of $.99 apps and can confirm that I don't get a confirmation every time.
The good part is that it may not be a flaw in the Mac App Store itself. If the problem is in the back-end database, it can be fixed without an OS update. Contact the Mac App Store Support and let them know what you are seeing.

  • App store "Billing info" not funtioning

At the stage where purchasing requires that one check his "Billing Info", and the button is depressed...nothing happens. Tried this many times. I'm out of my registered time zone...might this be a problem?

    Hi and welcome....
Open System Preferences - Date & Time then select the Time Zone tab. Make sure you have the correct Time Zone selected on the map.
Quit the Mac App Store if it's open.
Launch iTunes. Click Store from the menu then click View My Account then click Edit Payment Information. Make sure the Security code for your credit card is available then click Done.
Go back to the menu, click iTunes/Preferences then select the Advanced tab. Click Reset warnings and reset cache.
    Restart your Mac.
See if that helped. If not, follow the instructions at this link and delete the cookies/caches and .plist files associated with the MAS. http://discussions.info.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=12899910
If nothing has helped, you can contact MAS Customer Support here.
