Mac App Store Download Error

I was downloading an app and then had to pause it then start it then pause it again. Now it can't download at all and next to the download button are the words "an error has occured" in red. I have tried restarting the computer, signing in and signing out, hiding the app then unhiding it, and still the error is still there and when I click download it says error has occured after a few seconds when it says "waiting".
I don't know what else I can do. Any suggestions?

There are two ways to recover from this condition.
1. Select
Store ▹ View My Account
from the App Store menu bar, then select View hidden purchases. Stop or resume the download.
2. Open LaunchPad and find the icon of the app you're trying to install. There will be a small progress bar below it. Click the "X" to stop the download.

Can I cancel a Mac App Store download and resume later?

It is not recommended, once you start a download you should always let it complete the function. If you need to stop the download it may show the icon for the application even though you cancel it. It may or may not let you attempt to try to download the application a 2nd time.

if you are connected with the same appleID on the other mac then you can just download it for free again in the app store
you can only buy an app 1 time they don't bind to the computer or ios device for that matter they bind to the appleID

  • Can I make the Mac App Store download to my External Hard drive?

  • Mac app store "an error has occurred" and greyed out button for download

I'm trying to download an app in the mac app store.
It's got stuck and nothing seems to get it going again.
I get "an error has occurred" and the button along side is grey.
If I click the button it does a little animated click and nothing happenes.
Any idea how to resolve this?

Run Console to check the recent logs for more details (look for com.apple.installd).
In example, I had something like:
com.apple.launchd[1]: (com.apple.installd[69518]) Job appears to have crashed: Abort trap: 6
ReportCrash[69520]: Saved crash report for installd[69518] version 332 to /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/installd_2014*.crash
And when checked backtrace under System Diagnostic Reports, there is something like:
Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '*** -[NSKeyedUnarchiver initForReadingWithData:]: incomprehensible archive
So it's possible that update files were corrupted. Try to remove these files and re-try again.
    See: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4234582
From Terminal check if you've temporary files here:
        ls -la /private/var/folders/*/*/*/com.apple.appstore
And then try to remove them (you may backup them first just in case):
        rm -frv /private/var/folders/*/*/*/com.apple.appstore
Or eventually run Finder and go to: /private/var/folders and Trash all the folders (if something bad happens, restore it from your Trash).
    And re-try again.
Removing all the folders from /private/var/folders it actually fixed the problem on my laptop.

  • Mac app store 'an error has occured'

    Hello,
I've seen quite a lot of discussions similar to my question but I haven't found any answer yet.
Yesterday I bought 'Empire: Total War gold' on the mac app store.
I got a few errors concerning too little harddisk space but after freeing up to around 20 gb(!!) the download continued.
Now, when I try installing the game from within the app store it says 'waiting' for a few seconds and eventually I get the error
'Empire: Total War - Gold Edition failed to download.   Use the Purchases page to try again'
Next to the install button there is written 'an error has occured'
    I already tried:
    - logging out and back in
    - restarting computer
    - deleting cookies from apple store
    - turning off firewall
    Non of these worked.
Some help here would very much be appreciated.
    Kind regards

    Ok...
Installing the OS X Lion Update 10.7.3 (Client Combo reinstalls the App Store for you.
It's ok to do this even though you are already running v10.7.3
Restart your Mac after the combo is installed.
Launch the App Store and try downloading that game.
How to re download apps from the Mac App Store:
Open the App Store. From the menu bar click Store > Sign In
Click Purchases from the top of the App Store window.
Select the app you want to re download. Then right or control click where you see Installed  then click Install.

  • Mac app store download restarts every time connection drops

For the past 2 weeks I have been trying to download a game from the Mac App Store. The game file is around 20gig, so it takes quite a bit of time to download.
My issue is: Every time my connection drops or my Macbook goes to sleep, the download has to start again.
For example, today it was 50% (10gig) done, then all of a sudden, it said an error occurred but when I clicked to resume the download, it started from scratch. So I lost about 6 hours of downloading time.
Can anyone help me with this issue?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi ..
Check your download speeds here >  Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test
If your download speed is less than 10Mbps, the file may be timing out before it can finish downloading.
Make sure your Mac has sufficient storage space. Click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac > More Info > Storage. Make sure there's at least 15% free disk space.
Apps such as Little Snitch, Growl, MacKeeper, and anti virus software can prevent apps from downloading
Disable anti virus software if installed
Check the firewall in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall > Firewall Options
    Make sure Gatekeeper is enabled
Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy then select the General tab.
Make sure either Mac App Store or Mac App Store and identified developers is selected.
If that area is grayed out, click the padlock icon to proceed.

  • Mac App Store download speed very slow...

I have been trying to download the App Store updates OS X Update 10.10.3 and OS X Yosemite Recovery Update to my iMac for the past several days.  When opening the Mac App Store, I click on updates and they appear.  However, when I select 'download' my download speed slows to the point of less than 1 MB per minute.
I seem to remember this happening when Yosemite was first released, but after a few days, I had no problem downloading Yosemite from the App Store.
This only occurs when trying to download from the Mac App Store.  When I download iOS App updates to iTunes I do not have the same problem so it seems to be only affecting the Mac App Store.
My internet speed is fine.  I can download fine from other websites, just not the Mac App Store.
After searching online, I found one solution that looked promising:
Finder->Applications->Utilities->Keychain Access->Preferences->Certificates->Certificate Revocation List- Changed from Best attempt to OFF.
Unfortunately for me this had no effect so I changed the setting back.
I then looked for a way I could download the files from outside the Mac App Store & found this:
       Apple - Support - Downloads
When downloading from Apple Support downloads page, my downloads were very fast.  The Yosemite 2 GB Combo update took about 15 minutes, a far cry from the App Store which would have taken hours.
Is there some setting I need to change to increase the download speed from the Mac App Store or is it just overloaded servers?  Why then can I download the files from the support page and not run into the same slow speeds?  Updating iTunes was also giving me very slow download speeds, so again, I went to the Apple Support Downloads & clicked the link to download the latest version of iTunes.  The file downloaded in about a minute.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

Apple servers are overloaded. Instead of using App Store, use safari to download the updates manually from apple websites.
    Here's a link for OS X 10.10.2 Combo Update.
OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 Combo Update
I had the same issue and downloaded manually from this link. It took me about 30-40 minutes. I'm using a 5mb connection. Your 40mb connection should be faster.
As for the iOS updates, you will have to download them from your iOS devices, because there are no standalone updates for iOS. Alternatively after you update your Mac, use iTunes to download iOS updates by connecting your iOS devices with your Mac. That should be faster than downloading through your iOS devices.

  • Is 10.8.2 Supplemental Update Incorporated into Mac App Store Download?

I am considering upgrading my MBP (Late 2008) to Mountain Lion in a week or so and I was wonder if anybody knows if/when the download that is available within the Mac App Store has the 10.8.2 Supplemental Update incorporated into it or whether the offered build has been updated?

Don't bother with the MAS. Just DL them manually. That way you can store them for future use:

  • Mac App Store Download Not Working

I am so fed up with the Mac app store - not my first time having a problem with - Apple I hope you're reading this, I've been loyal to you since 1991 and you come out with crap buggy products like that mac app store! So frustrated! Get your act together!
I bought an app, it's 6.81 GB. It was downloading, I ran out of HD space at like 5 GB. Ok, no worries, cleared some stuff out. Then the app store was stuck on the "waiting" status, I killed it, and cleared all the caches with:
    rm -r ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore
    rm -r ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.storeagent
    rm ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.appstore.plist
    rm ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.storeagent.plist
    rm ~/Library/Cookies/com.apple.appstore.plist
Now the piece of ****, every time the download gets to 5 GB, oh wait, it just automatically goes to 0 MB and starts over again!
Apple what the **** is going on??? It's like every other time I buy something from the app store you can't even write a piece of software that can do a download!

I bought an app, it's 6.81 GB. It was downloading, I ran out of HD space at like 5 GB.
There's not enough available space on the hard drive to install a 6.81GB file.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon on your Desktop.
Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available.
Make sure there's a minimum of 15% free disk space. Never less.
OSX Tips Where did my Disk Space go?
Very important to keep track of available space. Not enough and at some point you won't be able to boot your Mac.
The user is responsible for keeping track of disk space, not Apple.

  • My Mac App store download is stuck on pause

    Hi,
Today I purchased Borderlands 2 on the Mac App store. It started downloading and after 15 min i was up to about 4GB/10GB I had some trouble with my connection and after the issue was resolved my download wouldn't resume even after I restarted the download, restarted my computer.
1 day later the download is still on pause and I have no idea what to do.

    - Try a reset. Nothing is lost.
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Download the app on yur computer and sync.
    - Restore from backup.

  • Mac App Store download scheduler?

i am recieving a 5k iMac for Christmas this year, I have a question about the Mac app store.  I have satellite Internet and my unlimited period is from 3am-8am.  Is there a way to have the Mac app store start downloads at 3am so I wouldnt use all the daytime data up?  If the App Store doesn't have that feature, is there a third party program that could make it possible to download things from the Mac aop store during those times?  Thanks.

I'll such puppy built into the Mac App Store app.
You might look into the Automator app that comes free on the Mac, perhaps you can create a workflow that will accomplish what you wish to do.

  • Mac App Store Download Resume

    Hello
I'm using Mac App Store on Lion, But there is a problem with download resume. After every system restart I can't resume my previous downloads and I have to download them from the beginning, I also checked and I have no AppStore directory at this path ~/Library/Application Support/ I'm wondering if anyone have a solution for this issue.
    Regars

You won't find any App Store system files in  ~/Library/Support but you are on the right track.
Installing the OS X Lion Update 10.7.4 (Client Combo) reinstalls the App Store for you. It's ok to do this even though you are already running v10.7.4
Restart your Mac after the combo is installed then try the App Store.
If that doesn't help, quit the App Store.
Now open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/Cache.db
    Click Go
Move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
    Now here:
    ~/Library/Preferences
    Click Go
Move these files from the Preferences folder to the Trash.
    com.apple.appstore.plist
    com.apple.storeagent.pllist
    Now here:
    ~/Library/Cookies
    Click Go
Move the com.apple.appstore.plist file from the Cookies folder to the Trash.
Empty the Trash, try the App Store.

  • Mac app store download progress

    hey hey
my question is: why wont the mac app store show me the download progress bar anymore?
im using Version 1.1.2 (92.8) which seems to be the newest. i today bought a game on the app store which is 15gb.
and in the mac app store under "purchased" it wont give me a download progress bar. even in the help file of  the app it is said to be there next  to the app just bought in the list.
however. lauchnpad does give me a progress bar. which is just rather sloppy because it indicates nothing on speed or time remaining.
how come mac app store removed the status bar?
(yes i tried downloading different apps)
    thanks in advance,
    o.
