Mac App Store is stuck looking for itunes.

Mac App Store is stuck on "One moment please connecting to the itunes store". The mac app store works on the laptop and itunes store works on all devices as well. I have purchased many apps on the iphone, ipad and even itunes on the imac. The Mac App Store will not let me log into my apple id either. Can anyone help? Please

@dah-veed - I have tried that and all of the information is correct. I downloaded a song and it went through in iTunes. However the Mac app store is still lookin for iTunes. I downloaded iTunes 10.2.2 and reinstalled it. Did not help the Mac app store. I read a couple of articles saying that I will need to re-downloaded 10.6.6 to install a new copy of the Mac app store. I did. Still no help. I went as far as re-downloading 10.6.7. Still the Mac app store is looking for iTunes to no avail.

  • Why is my mac app store not finding updates for iTunes 11.1?

I have been desperatly waiting all day at work to get home and install iOS7. I get home and plug in my phone to have iTunes tell me this:
"A new iPhone software version (7.0) is available, but requires iTunes 11.0.5. Would you like to download iTunes 11.0.5 now?"
I click download and the App Store then informs me that no updates are available.
Then I go back to iTunes to try again. This time I go to the iTunes menu, then Check for Updates. This message appears:
"This version of iTunes (11.0.5) is the current version."
So, why am I no getting an option to update to 11.1? And, why is iOS7 not downloading eventhough iTunes recognizes I have 11.0.5, which is what my error message tells me I need.
I am at a complete loss and am reaching entirely new levels of frustration.
If anyone was able to conquer this issue, please help me.
    Thanks.

    Download itunes 11.1 from
    www.apple.com/itunes/download/
from Safari.  Not Google Chrome! It only offers 11.0.5 in google chrome.  I had the same problem and fixed it by downloading the newest itunes (11.1) from Safari.

I suggest that you contact iTunes support. http://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html It could be what Lawerence said. Debit cards are not always accepted. Many say they are not any more, but those that already existed are okay. If you are getting this error declining the card, I feel this is the case for you.

  • Mac App Store purchase stuck on 'Installing'

So I bought Napoleon: Total War earlier this evening. After a surprisingly long download time, the game began installing. The progress bar told me this would take 27 minutes. More than 2 hours later and it's still stuck on this 'installing in 27 minutes' business. I have googled the issue and found similar posts to mine, however most of them have been resolved by emptying the Mac App Store Cache or deleting the HDD/Library/Update files, or simply rebooting the Mac. However, none of these have worked and time is still ticking on. If anyone can give me a hand as to how I can resolve this then it will be hugely appreciated. Ideally, I'd love my £21 back however I know how extremely unlikely that is.

    Hi TomCorbishley
Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, you want to want to get a refund for a purchase. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you isolate or resolve the issue.

  • Mac App Store Updates stuck in "Waiting". Anyone had this issue before?

    Hi,
I stumbled upon this issue yesterday where I had a software update waiting for me at the Mac App Store, and when I hit the update button on the store, the update got stuck in the "Waiting" message that appears to the left side of the "UPDATE" button. The updates did not appeared to download nor start, they just got stuck in the "waiting" stage. Moving to the "featured" section of the app store did not worked to re-highlight the UPDATE button in the update section of the Mac App Store page. The only way I was able to solve the issue was by Force Quitting the Mac App Store and trying again. On the second attempt, when I clicked the UPDATE button the "Waiting" message appeared but then disappeared and showed the expected download and install progressbar in the Mac App Store updates.
I was wondering if someone has seen a similar issue to the one I am describing.
Thanks for your time and answers!

You did the right thing, tried again.
    Best.
    Hi dominic23,
I see... Well this bugs me off course because is not the normal behavior that I would expect from OS X, but if it sometimes happens, I'll be OK with that. I don't know but I may file a bug report to Apple on this so that they at least know of the issue.
    Thanks for the advise!

  • Mac app store always shows updates for not installed apps

    Hi,
I've got fresh install of 10.7.1 (replaced hdd, installed via Restore OS usb flash drive). Everything works properly, except of Mac App Store.
For some reason it shows me as updates all apps I ever purchased. Installed and updated to latest version, as well as not installed yet.
    Any way to fix this?
    Thanks!

  • I have an 2.4 Mac Book Pro.  I want to wipe it clean and reinstall the Lion OS I bought from the App Store.  I looked for instructions but did not find them any advice where the instructions are would be appreciated.  Thanks

I am looking for help on how to or where I can find information on how I can clean my hard drive and then reinstall Lion,  Thanks

Boot from Recovery HD upon startup hold-down keys Command R . Until you see the Apple logo then select language:English.click the Arrow (Next)
From the OS Utility, select Disk Utility then click Macintosh HD. click the Erase tab on the right side.
    Format:Mac OS Extended(Journaled)
    Name:Macintosh HD
    And click Erase
Once Erase process is done, close Disk Utility and select the second option in the OS Utility which is Reinstall OS. Let it run. It should take about an hour to complete, this type os installation is internet dependent so somehow the completion of the process depends on internet speed as well.

  • Mac App Store selling Aperture download for a quarter the price - What's the catch?

OK, I know there will be no DVD, paper manual or packaging, but will the downloaded version be identical?
The difference between £173 and £44 is quite dramatic and I'm sure the cost of physical marketing doesn't amount to £129 !

    Hi
I don't have a full copy of Aperture myself, so I am not sure about it, its just what I've heard.
There are some plugins here, not sure if any are included with it.
But I also forgot to mention, there is some pretty good documentation that comes with Aperture (Retail Box) that you also do not get.

I can't download anything on the Mac App store. It says This Apple ID cannot be used for the Mac App Store.

I went into settings, iTunes & App Store and tapped on my appleID, then signed out. I went back into the App Store on my phone and tried to download the app and then signed in again, and it worked!

  • Can iTunes Gift Cards be used in the Mac App Store?

I want to buy a MacBook Pro, and am wondering if I can use iTunes Gift Cards to buy apps for my Mac in the Mac App Store. I dont want to use a credit card, I would rather buy iTunes Gift Cards or be able to ask for iTunes Gift Cards as Gifts to use on my Mac. Is it possible to use the gift cards on the Mac App Store?

You can use iTunes gift cards in the App Store for the Macintosh to purchase applications for the Macintosh computers; however, you cannot use iTunes gift cards as an Apple Gift card for the Apple Store.

  • Mac App Store showing updates for an app I didn't purchase

The Mac App Store keeps showing updates for 'Nyan Cat: Lost in Space', but I have not purchased this app. When I click 'update', it shows up with somebody else's email address, which I did not recognise, and if I try to enter my email address + password it does not accept.

Let me beat you to it here... the Apple ID you are seeing is....

  • Can I add my existing, licensed apps to my list of 'Purchases' on the Mac App Store so I don't have to buy them twice?

    Hello,
I was wondering if I could add my existing, licensed apps to the list of app 'Purchases' that I have on the Mac App Store.
The reason for this is that I recently suffered the inevitable hard disk failure and I had to rebuild my MacBook Pro from scratch (with the help of Time Machine and Migration Assistant, etc.). As usual, I hadn't really maintained my MBP for quite a while and things sort of got away from me, in terms of data, apps, preferences, permissions, users (my personal account, my wife's account, my old work account...), etc.
So I wanted to rebuild my MBP on a clean slate. I like having the ability to quickly download and install just the right apps that I "really" need from MAS safe in the knowledge that:
they are there (assuming they're still available through MAS) with a full description of what they do and when I bought them, etc.
they are going to be in the most up-to-date version,
I'll be able to download and install them cleanly with no corruption from years of multiple user preference changes and permissions, etc.
that they will be managed and maintained (updated) through the same mechanism,
    so much more.
The benefits of having apps from MAS are easy to see when compared to going through my downloads folder and emails looking for the latest installers, working out what they're for in the first place, finding the license key in some forgotten e-mail, etc.
I am aware that I can build a clean machine and then restore just the right apps in their most up-to-date version as I had them on my backups.  The one thing to say about that is that the apps may have been used and abused once too many times and their preferences, etc. may not be in the most desirable form. It's just not as elegant as the MAS solution.
I realise that not all apps, app versions, or app vendors, are available through MAS. But I still have a fair few apps currently available on MAS that were bought prior to the existence of MAS, prior to them becoming available on MAS, or were bought directly for some other reason (by mistake).
So I wondered if there was any way I could convert my legitimate licenses from simply a direct purchase to one through MAS and have those apps listed under my 'Purchases' list. It would reduce the amount of work I'd have to do, not only to rebuild my machine but also to maintain it.
I cannot find any reference or way of having this work the way I would like it to. But I was hoping that some Apple guru would enlighten me.
I have thought about the possible mechanisms something like this would need to work and I must admit I see some not insurmountable issues (not as much technical as legal or possibly logistical). I realise that MAS is a service in its own right and as such has its own Terms, Conditions and Licensing that may not be compatible with the licenses that I already have. I also realise that when I purchase an app from MAS that I'm paying for the entire service including updates and use on multiple machines that I may own, etc. Obviously I do not want to pay the full purchase cost again for the same app twice, but I am willing to pay a small conversion/upgrade fee to have it managed as part of my 'Purchases' on MAS.  Think of it in the same terms as iTunes works.  I can purchase music, etc. but I can also add my own CD collection and have it managed by iTunes and store it in the cloud should anything go wrong with my local machine, etc.
So if this is currently not possible, then for the Apple MAS product managers out there, consider this as a suggestion/feedback.  I'd be happy to discuss my thoughts in more detail about not only how to achieve this for now but also for the future when you may add existing applications to MAS that people may have previously bought direct and would like to have managed through MAS going forward. The benefits to the users are hopefully clear, but from Apple's perspective I hope that you can see the advantages too, commercially, etc.
PS: I apologise for the wordiness of my query and overuse of 'etc.', etc.

Can I add my existing, licensed apps to my list of 'Purchases' on the Mac App Store so I don't have to buy them twice?
No. Only apps purchased from the App Store can be re downloaded for free including updates.

  • Don't want the Mac App Store

I'm one of those rare fruit (Mac) users who doesn't care for itunes or anything of the sort (I'm really not a Mac fan; I got the computer because I can abuse it more and have it still function with the solid state hard drive). I hate seeing updates for itunes. I imagine the Mac App Store is similar (although for the OS), and I don't want it. How do I install 10.6.6 without installing the Mac App Store?
Also, I read in another thread that a fruit can hibernate. How would I do this? I hate the battery drain when I put it to sleep, and frequently have a bunch of stuff open because I'm completing a long project, like a 60+ page paper that takes me multiple days, if not multiple weeks to complete. Thanks.

That's a good idea (leaving it plugged in all the time) aside from the fact that I'm cheap as heck. Being poor has something to do with it since I'm a grad student. When I'm not using my printer, can opener, toaster, etc. I unplug them or turn them off. Because of this, during the summer I'm able to have electric bills under 20 dollars a month for my apt. I used to even turn of my router every night when I wasn't using it but got fed up with resetting it every time. I also don't use air conditioning and live in KY (my asthmatic lungs react better to heat with humidity than dryness, and to save $). I know - I'm completely different than the norm, but I get by with my quirks. How much do you think it would cost me extra a year to leave my computer plugged in and "sleeping" every night?
If I go into itunes with the preferences, could I make it so itunes never looks for updates? Thanks again.

  • Mac App Store - Different Country Purchases

I live in Japan but have bank accounts and credit cards in the US and Japan, and for that reason I have two Apple IDs, one for each country. As such *I would want the ability to buy software from the Mac App Store in the US and Japan*, especially since my wife is Japanese and she uses Japanese language software (whereas I prefer English software). Here is what Apple says about the Apple ID being tied to country:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2204
So it appears that I can switch between the US and Japan Mac App Store simply by my Apple ID back and forth (which unfortunately is troublesome). Even so, I am curious *how the Mac App Store will manage the software* I have purchased and installed, if some was bought from the Japan Mac App Store and other software bought from the US Mac App Store. Will it only manage my Japanese software (e.g., download updates for it) while I have my Japan Apple ID setup in the Mac App Store preferences? And then it will only start managing my English software when I switch to my US Apple ID in the prefs? If so, then I see no benefit to me for the Mac App Store. The big benefit to using the Mac App Store is seamless and convenient software management.
Please know that I have not yet installed 10.6.6 or used the Mac App Store. I've not done that yet because I view the current One-Click Buy method as being dangerous. However, seeing that I am not alone in feeling such, I am quite certain Apple will address that flaw rather quickly. But I am posting here today so I can find out about purchasing software from different Mac App Stores (based on country) and "software management" prior to committing to the Mac App Store for my future software purchases. If I am able to buy Japanese software through the US Mac App Store, the point of my post here today would be moot. But from what I understand, that won't be allowed.
I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
    Thanks.

The Mac App Store account is actually an iTunes account. If you already have an iTunes account I suggest that you visit that account before opening the Mac App Store app and signing in. Go to iTunes and enter the iTunes Store. Make sure that you are logged into your iTunes account. Then view your account. Make sure that the payment method is configured as you want to use this account; either with a bank card, without a bank card, with an iTunes Store gift card(s), or if available, a PayPal account.
Once you have your iTunes Store account as you want it, quit iTunes. Open the Mac App Store app and sign in using your iTunes Store account ID. Now just a simple verification should be all that you are required to do and it should not activate 1-click purchases. It should not ask you for any bank card information and you should be able to "buy" all of the free apps that you would like, even if you opted out of having a bank card in your iTunes Store account.
If you do not have an iTunes Store account, I suggest that you go to iTunes and open an account there first and not try to set up your account initially in the Mac App Store. Since you already have an Apple ID for the Apple Discussions all will be much more simple if you use that for your iTunes Store account also.
As far as managing the apps that you buy, my experience with the MAS is the same as with the iTS, my Mexico Store account recognizes my installed apps from my US account and even shows me when there is an update available and vice versa, but to actually install the update I must sign into the account that I used to originally download and install the account.

  • My Mid-2011 Macbook Air becomes extremely hot when installing apps from the Mac App Store and when deleting apps

My Mid-2011 Macbook Air 13-inch (OSX 10.8.1 Mountain Lion) becomes hot to the touch when trying to delete large documents, watching videos after waking it from sleep-mode and when installing applications from the Mac App Store. This has also been happening with OSX Lion before I upgraded it to Mountain Lion.

The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico my first language is Spanish. I do not speak English, however I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.
What needed to be done the day that you set up the new Mac was go into the Mac App Store (MAS), sign into your iTunes/MAS Apple ID, go to the Purchases pane and Accept the iLife apps that would have been there in a special section. That would have sent you Mac's unique identifier code to Apple's servers and verified that this Mac was eligible for the bundled iLife suite and then registered these apps into your MAS account.
You might try going to  ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/adoption.plist, delete the adption plist, restart the Mac and then go to the Purchaes pane and see if you can Accept the apps into your account.
