Mac App Store login fails, but Apple ID/password is correct.

OK, I just went to get an App, and login failed repeatedly (5 times). In between, I went to iTunes and opened up my account info, which required login, which worked. Same on iCloud on my browser.
Now, I go back about 10 minutes later, and now suddenly the Mac App Store login works.
Weird.

login to app store fails for about 2-3 month ! works fine on iphone though ! no problems to login on itunes either ! just on macbook pro ! HELP !!!

Go here and get support. If you're using your correct Apple ID - the same as you used to get here - you shouldn't be having any problems.
    Good luck,

  • Mac App Store Connection Failed After Mavericks Update

    Hi y'all,
immediately after I updated my Lion to Mavericks (10.9.1), I could not access no more Mac App Store: as I enter my (valid and active) Apple ID credentials, I receive a "Connection Failed" message (in red, in the same login dialog, under the user id field).
So I've tried to set to "Always Trust" all of my Class 3 Certificates in my Keychain, I removed all of the Mac Appstore plist files (appstore and storeagent), I've also tried to remove the network preferences plist file to reset my network interfaces preferences, I've also deleted the ocsp and crls cache files, and I've setup the ocsp and crls certificates preferences in my Keychain Access to off.
I obviously checked out my App Store account and it's correct and active - I'm also currently using it on my iPhone, iPad and iPod with no problem at all!
Anyway I wanted to try creating a new App Store account from the Mac AppStore itself: after I validated it, I tried to login into Mac AppStore... with no success!
So, NONE of the above mentioned attempts solved the problem, and I'm WORRIED and astonished wondering HOW APPLE COULD RELEASE A MAJOR O.S. UPDATE THAT SMASHES THE MAC APP STORE, WHICH IS ONE OF THE CORE APPS OF THIS O.S.!!! I use Mac OSes since many years and I never had O.S. problems (only some minor issue with third party applications out of Apple's scope and solved with some simple workaround).
CAN ANYBODY PLEASE HELP ME? :-)
    THX IN ADVANCE,
    DANI

  • How to change Mac App Store Login for Updating Apps

I purchased a used Macbook from a local computer retailer; when they installed Mavericks and setup the account they used their Mac ID. Now it's showing updates for Keynote, Numbers, Pages, and iMovie but if I choose Update it prompts their username and wont let me change it. I assume those apps are connected to that account so it wont let me update. Is there a way to change the associated login to mine or is it safe for me to remove them and reinstall using my ID? I wasn't sure if they were core apps that would cause any damage if removed and I really dont want to format and start over. Thanks for the help!

The first thing to do with a second-hand computer is to erase the internal drive and install a clean copy of OS X. You—not the original owner—must do that. How you do it depends on the model, and on whether you already own another Mac. If you're not sure of the model, enter the serial number on this page. Then find the model on this page to see what OS version was originally installed.
It is not safe to use a computer with software installed by a previous owner.
1a. If you don't own another Mac
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you need a boxed and shrink-wrapped retail Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) installation disc from the Apple Store or a reputable reseller—not from eBay or anything of the kind. If the machine has less than 1 GB of memory, you'll need to add more in order to install 10.6. Preferably, install as much memory as it can take, according to the technical specifications.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.6, you need the installation media that came with it: gray installation discs, or a USB flash drive for some MacBook Air models. For early MBA models, you may need a USB optical drive or Remote Disc. You should have received the media from the original owner, but if you didn't, order replacements from Apple. A retail disc, or the gray discs from another model, will not work.
To start up from an optical disc or a flash drive, insert it, then restart the computer and hold down the C key at the startup chime. Release the key when you see the gray Apple logo on the screen.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.7 or later, you don't need media. It should start up in Internet Recovery mode when you hold down the key combination option-command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a spinning globe.
Some models shipped with OS X 10.6 and received a firmware update after 10.7 was released, enabling them to use Internet Recovery. If you have one of those models, you may not be able to reinstall 10.6 even from the original discs, and Internet Recovery may not work either without the original owner's Apple ID. In that case, contact Apple Support, or take the machine to an Apple Store or another authorized service provider to have the OS installed.
1b. If you do own another Mac
If you already own another Mac that was upgraded in the App Store to the version of OS X that you want to install, and if the new Mac is compatible with it, then you can install it. Use Recovery Disk Assistant to prepare a USB device, then start up the new Mac from it by holding down the C key at the startup chime. Alternatively, if you have a Time Machine backup of OS X 10.7.3 or later on an external hard drive (not a Time Capsule or other network device), you can start from that by holding down the option key and selecting it from the row of icons that appears. Note that if your other Mac was never upgraded in the App Store, you can't use this method.
    2. Partition and install OS X
If you see a lock screen when trying to start up from installation media or in Recovery mode, then a firmware password was set by the previous owner, or the machine was remotely locked via iCloud. You'll either have to contact the owner or take the machine to an Apple Store or another service provider to be unlocked. You may be asked for proof of ownership.
Launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the internal drive—not any of the volume icons nested beneath it. In thePartition tab, select the default options: a GUID partition table with one data volume in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. This operation will permanently remove all existing data on the drive.
After partitioning, quit Disk Utility and run the OS X Installer. If you're installing a version of OS X acquired from the App Store, you will need the Apple ID and password that you used. When the installation is done, the system will automatically restart into the Setup Assistant, which will prompt you to transfer the data from another Mac, its backups, or from a Windows computer. If you have any data to transfer, this is usually the best time to do it.
Then run Software Update and install all available system updates from Apple. To upgrade to a major version of OS X newer than 10.6, get it from the Mac App Store. Note that you can't keep an upgraded version that was installed by the original owner. He or she can't legally transfer it to you, and without the Apple ID you won't be able to update it in Software Update or reinstall, if that becomes necessary. The same goes for any App Store products that the previous owner installed—you have to repurchase them.
    3. Other issues
If the original owner "accepted" the bundled iLife applications (iPhoto, iMovie, and Garage Band) in the App Store so that he or she could update them, then they're irrevocably linked to that Apple ID and you won't be able to download them without buying them. Reportedly, Mac App Store Customer Service has sometimes issued redemption codes for these apps to second owners who asked.
If the previous owner didn't deauthorize the computer in the iTunes Store under his Apple ID, you wont be able to  authorize it immediately under your ID. In that case, you'll either have to wait up to 90 days or contact iTunes Support.
When trying to create a new iCloud account, you might get a failure message: "Account limit reached." Apple imposes a lifetime limit of three iCloud account setups per device. Erasing the device does not reset the limit. You can still use an account that was created on another device, but you won't be able to create a new one. Contact iCloud Support for more information.

  • Why is the Mac App Store loading the wrong Apple ID when I try to redownload my copy of Lion?

    Pretext:
I purchased my MacBook Pro 17" Back in March of 2011 from MicroCenter in Madison Heights, MI. Later I purchase OS X Lion 10.7 from the Mac App Store on July 23rd, 2011 under my Account along with a couple of other programs. I know it is under my account because, I have redownloaded the OS X Lion Installer twice before (10.7.1 and 10.7.2), making my own bootable copies on USB drives as emergency copies.
Now my Apple ID has never changed, the password is still the same as when I set it up back when I signed up for my iTunes Music Store account, the only thing changed is my payment options (reissued debit cards, and a bank switch). The account has always been mine alone, never part of any family account or anything of the sort. Outside of that, nothing has ever been editted on my accounts.
Last month my father decides to finally update from his 2002 Power Mac G4 (QuickSilver) to a new MacBook Pro a month ago. I show him how to make a bootable USB stick so he can always have an immediate backup installer. Both him and I are on AT&T which likes to cap bandwidth so remote installs are an insane proposition. He makes his own bootable USB stick of 10.7.3., and in an effort to save bandwidth I borrow it and make a duplicate.
Now I did boot from the copy of the USB stick, but never installed, I just wanted to make sure it loaded just in case. Anyway, I quit of out the installer return to my usual start up disk (OCZ Vertex 3 120GB) and continue on. Eventually I download the 10.7.3 update through the System Update. All is well and fine. Couple weeks later, I decide to make another fully bootable USB stick, go to redownload from the App Store (new AT&T billing cycle) and now it is asking me for my father’s Apple ID and Password. It refuses to take my Apple ID and password and tells me there is an error and tells me to try again shortly.
So I turn on the Mac App Store Debug Menu, clear cookies, and reset the app. I try to redownload again, but his Apple ID is still on my machine. He has never used this machine, not once. How do I fix this?
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Problems with the mac app store login/ yosemite installer download

I am trying to download the yosemite installer from the mac app store, but can't seem to log in. I receive no error message. What could be causing these issues? I am using a MacBook Pro with OS X 10.6.8.

Based on the numerous posts regarding iTunes and the App Store, there appears to be an issue at Apple's end. Although Apple has not provided any indication on the cloud status page.
    Do not change your settings.

  • Mac App Store connection failed

    Hi all,
Haven't been able to login to App Store with ID. Keeps saying connection failed, but user and PW are correct. In fact, have changed PW a few times to ensure. Have looked at other threads ..... changing class 3 public to trust ..... parental locks ..... date and time ...... all failed to allow me in.
I'm signed in under root, yet when I log in under different user, App Store works fine..... purchased iPhoto update, upgraded pictures in library under different user and worked. Went back to root and can't log in, tried upgrading iPhoto and when I open app, tells me to update pictures then crashes.
    Getting frustrated. Any help appreciated.
    Thx.

    I'm signed in under root
That's why it isn't working. You should never log in as root.

  • Mac App store submission fails because of QuickTime API usage

I just tried to upload a desktop app to the Mac app store and got an update email from Apple saying:
"... Deprecated API Usage - Apple no longer accepts submissions of apps that use QuickTime APIs...'
I'm not explicitly using QuickTime in my app as far as I know, but I do use StageVideo.  With a bit of searching it appears that other frameworks (Unity for instance) are experiencing the same problem just recently. I guess this is possibly a bigger picture issue where Apple have changed something that breaks the desktop submission process for some frameworks.
Has anyone else seen this issue (if not then I guess maybe not many desktop apps are being submitted) and if so is there a workaround?
    ** EDIT **
I think it is something to do with this:
    https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/releasenotes/General/CarbonCoreDeprecations/index. html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40012224-CH1-SW16
And there is at least one other person that has noticed it :
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/5906984

There is a bug report on bugbase for this issue now - it looks like it will affect all attempts to upload an AIR app to the Mac App store.  If you are developing a desktop app or have existing desktop apps for sale on the app store then this issue will probably stop you releasing or updating them.
Adobe engineers are apparently aware and investigating but a vote if the issue affects you would always help:

  • Mac app store no carga y Apple Mail tampoco

My App Store takes forever to load and when it does, then it won't download the apps or will download but not install them. However, I don't think this is a Yosemite issue, I have not installed the updated and I have this problem too. I'm using OS 10.9.4.
Let's see what Apple can do for us now.

  • Mac app store upload failed due to a general error

I am using the latest XCode, freshly installed. I am working with Snow Leopard, Lion and Mountain Lion. Wherever I try to upload a new application to the mac app store, I get the following error message:
Unable to process validateProductSoftwareAttributes request at this time due to a general error.
I submitted the app yesterday and it was validated and waiting for review, so there were no issues at all. But today I rejected the binary because I found a bug. Now it does not upload anymore. There have not been any changes to the Info.plist or the entitlement file.
The error message hints to wait for some hours and try again, but I have bad experiences with application submitting and not getting sound error messages.
    Any hints?

  • HT1338 How do i erase the ID of the previous owner of my iMac Mini in the Mac App Store with my own ID and Password.Help please.

How do i replace/erase the ID of the previous owner of my iMac Mini in the Apps Store with my own Apple ID.All attempts to erase the previous owners I(D are unsuccessful. Can anyone out there please help? Many thanks.

You are NOT allowed to assume or take over or merge the previous Owner's Apple ID Account with yours.  The Apps and media that that Owner bought in the Mac Store and iTunes Store were solely for his use and CANNOT under the Terms of Use for Apple be transferred to or used by anyone else.  You'll have to purchase new anything you want to use from the Store.  And you will Not be able to Update any Apple Apps he left on the Mac. Sorry, but those are the rules.

I am trying to install Mavericks on my desktop at work.  I entered my Apple ID and password into app store but keep getting "An unknown error has occurred" when I attempt to sign in.  Any suggestions?

  • ICloud/iTunes store/Mac App store login won't work

    Hi there,
for about a week now I've been having troubles on my MBP (mid-2009, running 10.8.2). I can't seem to connect to my iCloud account from this MBP (on the other hand, iMac and iOS devices still working flawlessly with iCloud). It started first with iMessage shutdown, and later I found out my iTunes and Mac App accounts won't load as well (again, working flawlessy on iMac). Therefore I can't even update to 10.8.3.
What could be the problem? Has anyone else experienced anything of the kind? This is really weird, as I don't think I made any change to pretty much anything when the iMessage stopped working and everything else ensued....
    please, help!

oh, I forgot, when I try to log in to the icloud thru the system settings, It takes forever (spinning wheel) and ends with a message stating: "You can't seem to log in at this time. Try it later" or something like that. I've tried reboot and everything, but to no avail.

  • HT1338 Mac app store won't let me update iPhoto and iMovie.

I'm trying to update iPhoto & iMovie, just got a new mac and when I go into the Mac App Store and click update on iPhoto and iMovie it says: "To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it." .....both came pre-installed on my mac and I only have one apple ID, I don't have another one to sign into... please help?

You should be able to go the Mac App Store, login with your Apple ID that you have set up and registered, and then since you just bought the iMac New you should find those two Apps to click on listed in the "Purchases" List that is associated with your Apple ID account.  You may or may not need to, for Free, redownload those two Apps from the Purchases List to trigger allowing Free Updates.  I'm not sure, not having done this that way.
    Hope this helps
