Mac App store running slow in lion

Since I install Lion (clean install) on my Mac Pro 2009 the Mac App Store in very slow and each time I click on an item I see the beachball. Everything aside the App Store is running fast and smooth. Anyone with the same problem ???
Thanks !
Olivier

I'm guessing it's because the MAS has been seeing increased traffic since Lion came out. I'd imagine that tens of thousands of people downloading it every hour is putting a strain on the system. I myself am seeing the same problem.

  • Getting Error Code 13 with Mac App Store on OS X Lion

    Hey all,
I just updated my Macbook to Mac OS X Lion. Now whenever I go into Mac App Store, I can log into my Apple ID but cannot redownload any of my previous purchases.
I continue to get the error 13 for any of my downloads. I've tried rebooting my Mac, logging out and back into my Apple ID on the Mac App Store.
    Nothing works. Any idea?

    I figured it out.
I signed up for another Apple ID account within the Mac Apple Store. After completing the validation, I logged into the new account then logged out.
Closed down the Mac App Store and relaunched it. Then I logged in using my original Apple ID with all my purchases linked to it.
I'm now available to download items fine without error. I hope this helps others with the same issue.

Since you have Lion installed, use Lion Recovery

  • Mac app store runs/searches continuously - force quit

I was notified there is an update through the Mac App Store. However, when I enter the store and then the updates, it continuously searches and never stops (well, for and hour I let it run). I cannot stop the search nor can I install the update I was notified existed. The app must be force-quit to exit as 'Quit' and 'red dot' do nothing. How can I get the app to complete its search and/or install the existing update?

  • Mac App store broken after restoring Lion

    Here is what I did:
I deleted all the data on my harddrive, and reinstalled lion using built-in internet recovery.
    The problem:
The Mac app store is extremely slowly - to the point of non-responsive.
It won't let me install any of my applications. Clicking on the "install" button next to an item in the "purchased" section does nothing.
I have already confirmed by billing information.
There are no error messages. It just doesn't respond. It takes ages for any screen to load. It doens't make much sense - my internet connection works fine, as I can browse websites in safari without any problem.
What do I need to do to fix this? Right now there is no other software installed except the default that Lion installs.
    Thanks.
EDIT: iTunes seems messed up too. When I click on "purchased" in the apps section, all I get is a blank white screen.

  • Why is Mac App Store so slow in China?

Accessing the Mac App Store is extremely slow in China. It is so frustrating.
It is slow when loading, searching, downloading, etc.
Is it possible for Apple to set up some servers in China so that the users here can have better experience?

Apple is not here. Apple does not answer questions here. This is a user to user forum. No one here knows Apple's future plans.

  • Mac App store very slow

Mac App store takes ages to load up, then open or search for any apps. It works fine but just very slow. It wasn't always like this, just recently.

From your Applications folder move the App Store app to the Trash. Empty the Trash.
Now open a Finder window. Select your Home folder in the Sidebar on the left then open the Library folder then the Caches folder.
Move the com.apple.appstore and the com.apple.storeagent files from the Caches folder to the Trash
From the same Library folder open the Preferences folder.
Move these files Preferences folder to the Trash: com.apple.appstore.plist and com.apple.storeagent.plist
Same Library folder open the Cookies folder. Move the com.apple.appstore.plist file from the Cookies folder to the Trash.
I know you already installed the v10.6.7 combo but you need to do this one more time. If you still have the original .dmg file, move that to the Trash.
    Reinstall new:  http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1361
If that didn't reinstall the App Store app, follow these instructions.
    Get Pacifist
Pacifist is a utility that can extract files from a .dmg folder.
Open Pacifist after you install it. In the Pacifist window click Open Package.
Navigate to the MacOS XUpdCombo10.6.7.pkg. Select that then click Open.
In the next window click the gray disclosure triangle where you see: Contents of manual
Then click the triangle next to: Contents of MacOSXUpdCombo10.6.7.pkd
Then click Applications, then right or control click: App Store.app
Then click: Install to Default Location. That will reinstall the MAS to your Applications folder.

  • Mac App Store upgrading to Mountion Lion on two computers

Is there a way to install Mountain Lion (purchased from the Mac App Store) on two computers without having to download it twice? Can it be downloaded on one computer, and then not automatically installed, as most apps are? And then the installer copied to the second computer?

  • Mac App Store problems, OS X Lion

I've been trying to download a game (GTA: San Andreas) from the Mac App Store all day today. My MacBook is a mid 2009 model, with a 2.13GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB of RAM, and a 500GB hard disk, with 140GB free. My home broadband connection is 50MB. I bought the game this morning, the store accepted my payment, and the download started immediately. Since then I've found myself in App Store ****. Every so often the download stops. The time remaining increases up to ridiculous heights (129 days remaining), and then drops to "less than one minute remaining", where it gets stuck forever. The game is 4.19GB in size, so I have more than enough hard disk space remaining to download it, but whatever happens, the download stalls, and never starts again.
    So far, I've tried:
Connecting the computer to wired Ethernet
    Restarting the computer
Checking if I had enough free space, and checking that my hard disk passed a SMART test using SMART Utility
Removing the game from Launchpad (by holding Option and clicking the 'x' that appears, to delete the already half downloaded data
Throwing away the App Store .plist files
Enabling the App Store debug menu, and using it to navigate to the temporary downloads folder, and throwing away the half downloaded data, and all the plists found in there
Clearing cookies and cache within App Store.app
Resetting App Store.app using the Debug menu
I know my network connection is ok, as I've been downloading files bigger than this in Safari and Chrome today, and they have all completed successfully. I even tried bringing my MacBook to someone else's house, and attempting the download there, but it failed again, exactly as described as above. Does anyone else have problems like this, and if so, is there a solution?
    Thanks in advance,
    Padgeman

  • Mac Book Pro runs slow after Lion 7.2 upgrade

Ever since I downloaded the Lion 10.7.2 my MBook Pro runs SLOW! Any thoughts or suggestions?

    Reinstall preferably from scratch:
Install or Reinstall Lion from Scratch
If possible backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.

  • Now, my iMac doesn't display the Mac App Store properly! What's up, Apple?

Okay, I mentioned that my MBP was not displaying the Mac App Store properly... now its my iMac! Stupid blue boxes and unloaded tiles are the problem. Before anyone asks, my Internet connection works well. Anybody else having this problem (see photo)? What's up, Apple?! I'm tired of reloading the page and crossing my fingers. Fix your junky software!
Oh, when you added OS updates to the App Store, that's when problems started. Thanks, Apple!

Well, there's nothing wrong with my ISP or strength of my wi-fi signal. As you can see from the enclosed photo, the signal is very strong at the top of the UI. The picture was taken several minutes AFTER waking from sleep mode and after a page reloading (the Mac App Store actually displayed more icons, prior to the refresh). Additionally, the Mac App Store is slow as heck to load. I don't have any of these problems with any other Internet connected application, including the App Store on my iPad 2! All of the problems are localized around the Mac App Store. Ironically, the app store on my Windows 8 Pro virtual machine runs without a hitch!
Mac App Store icons don't always load correctly w/ strong wi-fi signal
No problem with the Windows 8 store running on a virtual machine using Parallels Desktop 8 (see, no ISP issues!)

Just a reminder... this happens to BOTH of my Macs (MBP & iMac)! My PC, Ubuntu, and Chromium virtual machines run Internet-connected applications without a problem. I hate the Mac App store!

  • OS Updates Never Appear in Mac App Store

I'm running OS X v.10.8.2, and have noticed that OS updates have never appeared in the Mac App Store since installing Mountain Lion in the fall of 2012. No error messages have ever appeared. I'm sure that there have been security updates issued, as well as updates to iTunes and Safari since then. The store does notify me of updates to specific apps that I have downloaded from the store, such as Pages and Numbers. I've tried (1) clearing the Mac App Store cache, and (2) fixing my disc permissions. Neither of these has caused any OS updates to appear. The Settings pane for Software Update (System Preferences) reports that the last update request occured in October of 2012. Numerous requests have been attempted since then.
    Any suggestions for fixing this?

Just reporting back to say that installing 10.8.4 did not solve the problem. I've also tried bypassing my wireless LAN, a potential fix for this problem suggested by others. That didn't help either! Maybe I will simply make do with periodic manual updates.
