Mac app store thinks i still need to download/install yosemite

I downloaded and installed Yosemite on a 2009 MacBook Pro.  There's a popup that won't go away asking if I want to install the new SW.
In the Mac App Store, under purchases it shows Yosemite to be downloaded.  However, checking 'about this mac', Yosemite has been installed.
How to get the Mac App Store to recognize that it's installed and I don't need to download it?
Secondary question - I saved the installer file to be able to use it on my other macs.  How will this affect the app store?  If I bypass the app store (so
I don't have to repeat the 5GB download on each machine) - how do I get the app store to recognize this?

  • Installed Maverics but App Store shows I still need to download it?

I installed Maverics over the weekend and by most accounts things went well. However, when I log into the App Store to check for updates it shows that I still need to download Maverics (full 5.2GB download not just an update). Anyone else seeing this?

    Try re-indexing Spotlight.

  • HT4461 If the Mac App Store thinks I've already installed (an updated Pages 5.0) application when in fact I'm still running Pages 4.3, how can I redownload it?

Hi! a few days ago I updated to Maverick and updated several other programs as well, however Pages 5.0 somehow didn't install, so I'm running 4.3. The App Store thinks I have already installed it. The FAQs suggest I can redownload, they do not indicate how. How?
    Thanks!

The older iWorks apps are in an iWorks folder the new apps are loose in the Applications folder. Are you sure the new Pages isn't there?
You can redownload apps from the Purchases pane after signing into your account.

  • Pages tells me I need to upgrade to 5.0 to open documents from iCloud.  When I go to the mac app store it says pages 5.0 is installed, but Pages says it's running 4.3.  I just want to open documents on my mac that were created on my iPad.

Pages tells me I need to upgrade to 5.0 to open documents from iCloud, but the mac app store says its already installed and won't let me upgrade.  when I check the version of pages I am running it says 4.3.  I just want to be able to open documents on my mac that were created on my iPad.  How can i get Pages 5.0?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You already have got Pages 5.0, but you still have got Pages 4.3, so Pages 4.3 is being opened instead of the newest version, being this the reason why you get a message telling you to update Pages to the most recent version.
If you don't need the old version, open a Finder window, choose Applications in the sidebar and delete the old Pages icon or move it to an external drive. I don't recommend you to do this, as users are complaining about the lack of features of the new version.
Instead, what you can do is to put the new Pages icon in the Dock by dragging it from the Finder window to the Dock, so you can open the new Pages version from the Dock and you can open all your documents with it after opening the application

  • Mac app store problem: some applications that are not installed are seen as installed

After configuring the new imac, I open the mac app store, and although I have not installed any application of previously purchased, I see them as installed. I can not download them again.
I tried to delete one from the old imac, but nothing changes.
    Tips?

Andrea, it is still difficoult for me to understand.
In your first post you wrote "After configuring the new iMac", later you write about a backup disc, an old Mac etc...
Configuring the new iMac: I imagine you got it with an OS installed and you imported your stuff from the old Mac with Setup Assistan (Assistente Installazione)  or Migration Assistant or from a Time Machine backup. The difference between Setup and Migration assitant is explained here  https://discussions.apple.com/message/19130045#19130045
Or did you simply copied your Apps and data from one mac to the other ?
Sorry if this question may be seen stupid or offending: I only try to understand.
At the end of the Migration you should have disconnected the external disc (or the other Mac in Target mode). Why then you opened the AppStore ?  I imagine to download again some Apps which were not transfered by the Migration process. But since you write you opened the AppStore AFTER the configuring I assume you did it from the new iMac booted from its own disc with other drives disconnected.  Or do you have a copy of the old system on the same disc ?
About the question of "open with" you write that sometimes the files ask to be opened with Apps in the other disc instead with the same App on the boot disc.  You have to disconnect the external discs and again use the Open with command but select "Other", find the correct App and chack the box "Open always with this App" (Apri sempre con questa applicazione".
If you have some Apps not yet migrated from the old system to the new one I do not understand why, because Migration assistant should transfer all Apps (Apple and third party).  Should it be possible to do a second Migration ?

  • Mac App Store does nothing when I click download on any App

MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2009), OS X: Snow Leopard 10.6.8
    Hello,
my problem is that when I am in the Mac App Store and click download on any App or on the new OS X Yosemite (which is why I am opening this thread) nothing happens.
The font turns grey indicating that I clicked the button, but after that... nothing. I don't even get an error message telling me what's wrong.
And when I go to another Tab in the Store like from "Updates" to "Highlights" and then back to Updates it shows the button as if I didn't click it in the first place.
Images (english is not my main language):
What I did is search for hours what could be wrong. What I tried was:
    - Log Out and start the application again, then log back in
    - Try downloading with another Apple-ID
    - Start the MacBook in Safe-Mode
    - Several restarts of the MB itself
    - Repair the rights to the volume (this one is tricky for me to explain: something like the HardDrive Managing Program)
Those are the things I can remember.
Other information that might be useful:
    - I have a stable WiFi Connection and no VPN or similar in use
    - Except from Google Chrome I didn't install anything as I got the MB a few days ago where it was as if it was used the first time
I hope you can help me as I am really desperate getting this to work.

I am running OX YS X YOSEMITE 10.10.3 with a macbook pro 13" and have this same problem: App store shows there are apps to update. I click update (either just one or all), and they mac shows the update button greyed out, as if i had pressed "UPDATE". For hours on end, nothing happens. NOTHING! I've restarted the mac, which is about as much as i know. Please help me solve this issue, as i'm using Pages and numbers apps and feel like they are stuck in apple limbo/**** without the new update. Hoping to get this resolved soon.

  • Mac App Store v. 1.0.2 - Facetime installed v. 1.1.1

    Dear Apple community,
can anyone tell me why I have installed the Facetime version 1.1.1 and in the Mac App Store the Facetime App is shown as v. 1.0.2. Also the Mac App Store shows the App as "0,99 $" and not as "installed". o.O
Furthermore neither the Apple Software Update nor the Mac App Store shows an update available.
In advance I thank you for your help!
    P.S.: I have OS X Lion 10.7.3 (MacBook Pro Early 2011).
    Yours sincerely,
    Stema

    Problem solved...
I didn't check myself that v.1.1.1 (which I have installed) is newer then 1.0.2 (Mac App Store). Classic false alarm...
    Sry guys...

  • HT4854 Mac App store won't let me re-download Mountain Lion on a Late 2012 Mac mini, says computer is incompatible.

I have a brand new late-2012 Mac mini running 10.8.2. I'm trying to re-download ML from the App Store to create a bootable USB recovery key just in case. I'm being told that I can't DL Mountain Lion because my computer isn't compatible. How can that be?!
Part of the reason I want this key is the fact that I just jumped through 5,000 hoops to recover Mid-2011 MacBook Air from the recovery partition. The installation kept giving me an error. EXTREMELY annoying. I had no key. It set me back a few days. I don't want this problem to happen again.
I have a valid purchase, I own the software, I should be able to download it, period.

    Well said.
If I follow the advice of the fellow above and download the installer via Internet Recovery, I'm not going to be given access to the installer for the sake of making my key—or will I? At want point in that workflow will I have the opportunity to boot to back into my already working OS (on the 2012 mini) in order to do what I need to do?
I have access to a most recent release (2012) 13" MacBook Air (FWIW, the 2011 MacBook Air in question above happens to be an 11"). Am I likely to run into the same problem as with the 2012 Mac mini, where the version in the App Store still hasn't been "synced"?
Unbelievably annoying. Worse still is while I'm stuck in self-help purgatory, if something were to happen the recommendation would be to visit the Genius Bar. It's not a bad service, but why should I have to rely on it if I'm perfectly capable of taking care of everything myself provided the correct tools are at hand?
Incidentally, what happened with the 2011 MacBook Air is that the stock hard drive was formatted prior to sale. The recovery partition was left intact. I used it to begin the reinstallation of the OS. It was working fine until I realized I didn't have enough time at the moment to continue to download the required assets. The computer needed to be transported 200 miles away and time was of the essence.
I cancelled the installation with the intention of revisiting it when I got to my destination. When I did so, even after freshly formatting the drive again in Disk Utility, I got an error right as the download began. No amount of tries made a difference. Same error. The only thing that will work, obviously, is a USB key or the equivalent with the installation files pre-downloaded—unless someone here has some other insight.
    Thanks so much to all.

  • How does the Mac App Store detect what it believes to be installed?

I had a trial for Transmit on my machine prior to purchasing it on MAS.
Despite the fact I have it showing as purchased in the App Store app, I can't install it as it also believes it to be installed. Searching for files containing the name Transmit returns no results anywhere on my drive.
The trial copy is gone now, I removed the plists and other stuff too in the hope MAS would detect its absence, it doesn't.
Any tips/pointers on how I can install my software? I spoke to Panic directly, they're insistent the fault lies with Apple.
    TIA :-)

What version of Mac OS X Snow Leopard is installed on your Mac? You are describing misbehavior of the MAS that was in the first version that was installed with Mac OS X 10.6.6. The misbehavior of listing apps as installed that were not acquired through the MAS was corrected with the MAS installed by 10.6.7. We now are at 10.6.8 with the newest version of the MAS.

  • Mac App store thinks I am in China

I cannot download anything from the store because it thinks my location is China (it is USA).  I have reset the country in the account settings multiple times.

Keep in mind your credit or debit card must be associated with the same country where you reside.
"Although you can browse the iTunes Store in any country without being signed in, you can only purchase content from the iTunes Store for your own country. This is enforced via the billing address associated with your credit card or other payment method that you use with the iTunes Store, rather than your actual geographic location. You can use the iTunes Store in all countries of which you’re a resident, but you’ll either need a separate iTunes Store account for each one, or you’ll need to continually be switching the billing information on your single account. Generally, it’s simpler just to set up an alternative account for these situations, although it’s worth nothing that features like iTunes in the CLoud and iTunes Match are designed to work best when using a single iTunes Store account, as you can only switch accounts with these services every 90 days."

  • Starting an hour ago, the Mac App Store says I need to download Lion 10.7.4 again.  Anyone else?

I am currently running Mac OS 10.6.8 with all updates on a Mac Mini (3,1--the model with 5 USB ports).  Previously, I purchased, downloaded, but did NOT install Lion 10.7.3.  Yesterday, I successfully downloaded 10.7.4 via the Mac App Store, but as before I didn't install it (planning to do that this evening).  However, starting about an hour ago, the Mac App Store indicates that Lion has been updated and that I should download 10.7.4 -- again, apparently.  I'm using the same AppleID account (the only one I have).  Anyone else have the same experience?  Is there a 10.7.4 version 1.1?  If so, nothing in the software description mentions it...

This answer sidesteps my question.  I'm aware that I could have upgraded from 10.6.8 to my previously downloaded 10.7.3 and then updated to 10.7.4 using the smaller updaters (I would favor using the Combo).  But since the 10.7.3 FileVault security issue directly applied to me, I wanted to upgrade straight to 10.7.4, where it was addressed.  Also, since my internet connection is quite fast, taking 15 minutes to redownload all of it again was not a deal-breaker for me.  Interestingly, the instance of 10.7.4 I downloaded last night is 25 bytes longer than the 10.7.4 I downloaded the day before.  Performing a 'diff -ra' within 'Terminal' between the two instances of the 10.7.4 Installer app revealed that the changes are confined to a single file within: 'Install Mac OS X Lion.app/Contents/_MASReceipt/receipt', and that they look like timestamp differences, so I'm now guessing that the two instances are functionally identical...

  • How can I download lion from Mac app store in recovery mode on an imac?

I bought a mid-2007 imac from a friend, who the computer was working perfectly for. When I went to start up it wouldn't start up (past the gray screen) from the regular HD no matter how many tricks I tried (resetting SMC, PRAM, etc), so I went in to recovery mode. I verified and repaired the disc more than once (even though it said it was fine), and tried to reinstall lion from the online recovery function but it said "item temporarily unavailable." I basically tried every combo of things possible before erasing the HD but nothing worked, so then I decided to erase the HD.
SO that happened, and now I can still boot up in recovery mode and it -seems- like if I can find a way to reinstall lion (which was the last os running), I may be back in business.
however, see the problem with "item temporarily unavailable."
I decided to purchase it from the Mac store online on a different device and it says it will email me a link in 1-3 business days (really??! That long to save me with an EMAIL LINK???), and my thought is that maybe I can log in to my email from the safari window and download it that way. I'm just afraid that I won't be able to access the Mac app store if that is where it downloads from.
Ultimately, I'm trying to avoid a trip to the Apple Store because this thing will be a nightmare to lug on public transportation. My questions for you are as follows:
    - how likely do you think it is that I'll be able to successfully download lion from the email link in recovery mode?
    - Do actual discs with lion exist anywhere in the wide world? If so, how can I get one?
    - would it be worth it to grab an old lion usb stick from amazon?
    - is there ANY other way to reinstall lion or install a new os on this thing without physically taking the computer anywhere?

What a silly company , i have the same exact problem with my macbook pro and i've checked every topic that mention this problem and they didn't solve it .
