Mac App Store won't Update Purchase...

Hello
I have a Macbook
It is running 10.6.8
I purchased Angry Birds through the Mac Appstore (not itunes.. the Mac App store..) a while ago.
I noticed last night there was an update available (on the Dock, a little red 1 in the App Store logo)
I click on the App store logo and click on Updates
I see the update that is available
I click on that and get this error message
"You Have Updated Available for Other Accounts..
To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it."
However.. I have NO other accounts..
I have been in touch with Apple Support and they cannot help me and said I should contact Roivo support.. however this seems more an AppStore issue than an App issue
I have run the command to make sure I have no 3rd party apps installed (I don't)
There is no pirated or illegal apps on this computer
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Angry Birds app and still the same error.
Previous updates to this particilar app were fine..
Thoughts?

Just per chance, you could try this;
Finding a pirated app
All MAS apps have a MAS receipt in their app bundle. Check any app acquired from the MAS. Right click on the app's icon in your Apps folder and choose Show package contents. In the Contents folder is a _MASReceipt folder and in that folder is the coded MAS receipt. It has the Apple ID of the MAS account that bought/acquired the app from the MAS. It is that receipt that the MAS uses to alert you that an app has an update. There would not be a notice of an update with someone else's Apple ID showing in the MAS on your Mac, if there was not an app with a receipt from this person's account somewhere on your Mac.
Download the free app FindAnyFile (FAF);
http://apps.tempel.org/FindAnyFile/
This app is easier to use and seems to be more powerful than Spotlight. Open FAF and in the box type _MASReceipt and press Find. It should come up with a list of every app on the Mac with a MAS receipt. Compare the apps with receipts in FAF's list with your purchased apps list in the Mac App Store. The odd app out should be the pirated app.

  • HT1338 Mac app store won't let me update iPhoto and iMovie.

I'm trying to update iPhoto & iMovie, just got a new mac and when I go into the Mac App Store and click update on iPhoto and iMovie it says: "To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it." .....both came pre-installed on my mac and I only have one apple ID, I don't have another one to sign into... please help?

You should be able to go the Mac App Store, login with your Apple ID that you have set up and registered, and then since you just bought the iMac New you should find those two Apps to click on listed in the "Purchases" List that is associated with your Apple ID account.  You may or may not need to, for Free, redownload those two Apps from the Purchases List to trigger allowing Free Updates.  I'm not sure, not having done this that way.
    Hope this helps

    Hey Duddy1888,
Thanks for the question. Try changing your payment information to “None”. If you are unable to select “None” as a payment option, see the following resource:
Why can’t I select None when I edit my payment information?

If you have an unpaid balance or payment due, you can't select None as your payment type. To see which order you need to pay for, view your purchase history. When you sign in to the store, you may see a message that there was a billing issue with your last order. Click the Billing Info button to see the order.

my mac app store won't load and when you click it nothing happens...it was okay for the past months but now i don;t know why it won't open...please help...

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • Mac App Store not showing Updates or Purchases

After upgrading my Mac OS to Yosemite, my App Store isn't showing anything under the "Updates" tab (It did some automatic updates in the background, so the number of pending updates dropped from 13 to 2).
Although I have already signed in to Mac App Store, it says:"You must sign in to view your purchases" under the "Purchases" tab. "Sign in" is a clickable link but when I click it nothing happens.

I'm having the exact same problem.
I can sign in via the menu bar-store-sign in, but it doesn't change anything.
In the bottom right corner of the updates page there's a US flag icon showing, indicating I'm in the wrong store. Unable to change to Norwegian.
I am also unable to go into iCloud in system preferences:

  • Why won't the Mac App Store let me update iMovie to version 9.0.6?

I just received my new MacBook Pro with Retina display today.  I ran through the setup process including Migration Assistant for everything. (from 2011 iMac)  I received a notifiction from the Mac App Store this evening stating that an update was available for iMovie.  When I clicked on the update button, a message appeared stating that I had to sign in with the account that I used to purchase the app in order to update it.  This made no sense to me, considering that the app came pre-installed on the machine.  I was thinking it might have something to do with Migration Assistant but when I checked iMovie on my iMac it had already been updated to the most current version. (9.0.6)  I also checked my account information.  It was correct.  I also tried signing in with another Apple ID I have.  None of this worked.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

Whatever you do DO NOT UPGRADE. Check out the reviews on the App Store and the Web for this version. The App will not let you finalize your project (render it to 1080p) or share it in any format you ask it to. Effectively all you end up with is the ability to see it on your MacBook and an error message saying "Sharing requires more memory to be available" I have an i7 iMac with 16 GB and that is not enough?
I replaced my ageing MacBook Pro about two months ago before the retina display came in. Jealous or what?

  • Mac App Store won't allow re-downloading of deleted apps

I am experiencing very glitchy behaviour with the Mac App Store.  The store can't tell when individual apps are deleted, and therefore won't allow re-download.  This has been going on for a while - when I click on the Purchases tab all Apps are still listed as Installed and the button is greyed out - I can't click to re-download.  At the same time, an app that I previously did download and later removed called Cobook won't delete from the computer - after a few minutes to an hour it will re-appear in my Applications folder.
I have done a clean re-install of Mountain Lion trying to fix this problem, however the same problem exists even after a re-install - Apps that had been deleted prior to the clean install are still greyed out in the Purchases tab, and can't be re-downloaded.  The only way that Apps can be re-installed is to use Time Machine backup.  I am concerned that this means that updates also aren't working, since the App Store doesn't seem to know what Apps are on my computer and which ones aren't.
Yes I am using the correct Apple ID assocaited with the purchases.  My purchase history shows up just fine in the Purchases tab, its just that they are stuck showing that they are currently installed, even the ones that aren't.
    Mountain Lion 10.8.2, 21.5" iMac (mid-2011).

The problem is possibly worse than I expected.  Since the clean re-install, now any App purchased and downloaded via App Store won't appear in the Purchases tab.  So in other words, although the download seems to work correctly, and the app works, the App Store seems to lose all track of it.  Which is a problem for paid apps.

  • How to change Mac App Store Login for Updating Apps

I purchased a used Macbook from a local computer retailer; when they installed Mavericks and setup the account they used their Mac ID. Now it's showing updates for Keynote, Numbers, Pages, and iMovie but if I choose Update it prompts their username and wont let me change it. I assume those apps are connected to that account so it wont let me update. Is there a way to change the associated login to mine or is it safe for me to remove them and reinstall using my ID? I wasn't sure if they were core apps that would cause any damage if removed and I really dont want to format and start over. Thanks for the help!

The first thing to do with a second-hand computer is to erase the internal drive and install a clean copy of OS X. You—not the original owner—must do that. How you do it depends on the model, and on whether you already own another Mac. If you're not sure of the model, enter the serial number on this page. Then find the model on this page to see what OS version was originally installed.
It is not safe to use a computer with software installed by a previous owner.
1a. If you don't own another Mac
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you need a boxed and shrink-wrapped retail Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) installation disc from the Apple Store or a reputable reseller—not from eBay or anything of the kind. If the machine has less than 1 GB of memory, you'll need to add more in order to install 10.6. Preferably, install as much memory as it can take, according to the technical specifications.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.6, you need the installation media that came with it: gray installation discs, or a USB flash drive for some MacBook Air models. For early MBA models, you may need a USB optical drive or Remote Disc. You should have received the media from the original owner, but if you didn't, order replacements from Apple. A retail disc, or the gray discs from another model, will not work.
To start up from an optical disc or a flash drive, insert it, then restart the computer and hold down the C key at the startup chime. Release the key when you see the gray Apple logo on the screen.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.7 or later, you don't need media. It should start up in Internet Recovery mode when you hold down the key combination option-command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a spinning globe.
Some models shipped with OS X 10.6 and received a firmware update after 10.7 was released, enabling them to use Internet Recovery. If you have one of those models, you may not be able to reinstall 10.6 even from the original discs, and Internet Recovery may not work either without the original owner's Apple ID. In that case, contact Apple Support, or take the machine to an Apple Store or another authorized service provider to have the OS installed.
1b. If you do own another Mac
If you already own another Mac that was upgraded in the App Store to the version of OS X that you want to install, and if the new Mac is compatible with it, then you can install it. Use Recovery Disk Assistant to prepare a USB device, then start up the new Mac from it by holding down the C key at the startup chime. Alternatively, if you have a Time Machine backup of OS X 10.7.3 or later on an external hard drive (not a Time Capsule or other network device), you can start from that by holding down the option key and selecting it from the row of icons that appears. Note that if your other Mac was never upgraded in the App Store, you can't use this method.
    2. Partition and install OS X
If you see a lock screen when trying to start up from installation media or in Recovery mode, then a firmware password was set by the previous owner, or the machine was remotely locked via iCloud. You'll either have to contact the owner or take the machine to an Apple Store or another service provider to be unlocked. You may be asked for proof of ownership.
Launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the internal drive—not any of the volume icons nested beneath it. In thePartition tab, select the default options: a GUID partition table with one data volume in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. This operation will permanently remove all existing data on the drive.
After partitioning, quit Disk Utility and run the OS X Installer. If you're installing a version of OS X acquired from the App Store, you will need the Apple ID and password that you used. When the installation is done, the system will automatically restart into the Setup Assistant, which will prompt you to transfer the data from another Mac, its backups, or from a Windows computer. If you have any data to transfer, this is usually the best time to do it.
Then run Software Update and install all available system updates from Apple. To upgrade to a major version of OS X newer than 10.6, get it from the Mac App Store. Note that you can't keep an upgraded version that was installed by the original owner. He or she can't legally transfer it to you, and without the Apple ID you won't be able to update it in Software Update or reinstall, if that becomes necessary. The same goes for any App Store products that the previous owner installed—you have to repurchase them.
    3. Other issues
If the original owner "accepted" the bundled iLife applications (iPhoto, iMovie, and Garage Band) in the App Store so that he or she could update them, then they're irrevocably linked to that Apple ID and you won't be able to download them without buying them. Reportedly, Mac App Store Customer Service has sometimes issued redemption codes for these apps to second owners who asked.
If the previous owner didn't deauthorize the computer in the iTunes Store under his Apple ID, you wont be able to  authorize it immediately under your ID. In that case, you'll either have to wait up to 90 days or contact iTunes Support.
When trying to create a new iCloud account, you might get a failure message: "Account limit reached." Apple imposes a lifetime limit of three iCloud account setups per device. Erasing the device does not reset the limit. You can still use an account that was created on another device, but you won't be able to create a new one. Contact iCloud Support for more information.

  • Can't update iPhoto in Mac App store or Software update... Help!

I am stuck in iPhoto 9.1.5  Using Lion iPhoto purchased through mac app store.  Please help me

Maybe it's just a bug, Mac App Store seems a Beta to me for how laggy and buggy it is. Usually when it says something about another account it's 'cause you have pirated software and the App Store receipt inside it is indeed connected to another account, making it impossible to download the update. If that's your case what you have to do is to right click on iPhoto and select "show package content", open the "Content" folder and delete the "_MASReceipt" folder inside it, now the update will show up on Software Update.
A user posted on another site a way to solve this.
It worked for me, hope it helps.

  • Mac app store always shows updates for not installed apps

    Hi,
I've got fresh install of 10.7.1 (replaced hdd, installed via Restore OS usb flash drive). Everything works properly, except of Mac App Store.
For some reason it shows me as updates all apps I ever purchased. Installed and updated to latest version, as well as not installed yet.
    Any way to fix this?

  • Mac App Store Won't Sign Me Into My Apple Account

Today, I was going to download and install an app from the Mac App Store.  So, I opened the App Store, found the app, and clicked download and then install.  Of course, it popped up the box to sign into my Apple account.  I typed in my e-mail and password and click "sign in".  It began its little turning-circle "loading" icon on the little box (not the beach ball).  But nothing ever happened.  After 15 minutes, I forced quit App Store and tried again.  Again, same thing.  I did this a total of three times.  So, I decided not to touch it and just let it run its course.  Well, it's been at least four hours now, and no change.  Still "signing in", but nothing's happening.  Has anyone else had this problem?  Because I can't find anything anywhere about this on the discussions site.  Help!  Please!

Go to Settings > Store and sign-out.  Sign-in again using your Apple ID.  Of course this won't help if the apps were purchased using your friend's ID.
