Mac at home, Windows at work, need VPN help

I need some help with connecting to my work using VPN. I have Windows on my computer at work and I recently bought a MacBook. I want to connect using a VPN client (I don't particularly care which, just something) to my work, and then use Apple Remote Desktop to do work on the computer.
I don't know what the authentication # is, but I do have the IP address to connect to.
Can anyone help? I have my work VPN destination IP address and user name and password. Do I need anything else? What do I do?

You're going to have to find out what kind of VPN server they have at work. Most businesses these days use an SSL VPN, and if it is provided by Checkpoint or Cisco, there are OS X clients available or their Java clients work with OS X. Other SSL VPNs (especially the cheaper appliances) do not support OS X as they use ActiveX clients.
If there's a PPTP or IPSEC VPN, then you can configure OS X to use that, but it's not a trivial task (ergo, the move to SSL VPNs).
Once you are connected, then you can access your work computer with a remote desktop client as suggested in an earlier post. But you first need to ask the IT people at work about the VPN so you know which way you need to connect.

Since you seem to manage your music manually, there will be no difference if you use the same account on the mac.
Backup your itunes library and restore it on the new computer again: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1382 or use a external HD to copy it: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1751
because syncing music is one way only and you can't copy it back from your phone. You may use 3rd party apps to copy it back, but this software is not supported by Apple.

No volume or music - home button not working. Please help!

So, this problem just started today, COMPLETELY out of the blue. I don't think I touched or did anything, I simply picked my iPod up and for some reason I couldn't hear sound and on my music, there was no volume bar. I could not adjust volume or hear anything. Also, my home button did not work, no matter how times I pressed it. Only some minutes later would it kick in and keep sending me either to my home page or to the search page. For some reason it went back to normal for a few minutes, and now it's like that again. I've tried turning it off and on a few times now. Can anyone help me fix this?

I don't think I've updated mine for a while. It just spontaneously happened. Now my home button actually works, but no volume bar or sound still. It's frustrating, and I really don't want to fully restore my iPod, but I may have to.

Mac at Home; PC at Work?

The one downside to buying my new iMac G5 is that I can't "telecommute" from home with my office because it is on a Windows XP platform.

Telecommute is "real" easy. To take control of your XP, set it up to allow Remote Desktop connections. Then get Remote Desktop client from Microsoft (free) and "take over" the XP. works 'very' well.
To go the other way you'll need VNC. works, but not as well. Hopefully some day.
Just a caveat, the "easy" did not include possible firewall issues. I.e. you'll have to poke a hole through for the remote desktop connection and forward the port to your XP.

Home Sync Not Working! Please Help!

So I have a Mac Mini running Snow Leopard Server and two clients three clients all running Lion. Everyone has Portable Home Directories with File Syncing which syncs up documents and the desktop folder This seems to be working fine except I am running into one problem. I have a iMac and a Macbook Pro and i often will do work on my laptop and then want to swtich to my iMac and pickup where I left off with my work. I have used file sync and portable home directories to keep my iMac and MacBook Pro in sync and this seemed to be working fine up until a few days ago. For some reason, If I make a change on my Macbook pro like say I add a folder and have it sync, it will often times not sync that file and rarely it will, however if I were to drop a file onto the network volume, it would appear on my MacBook Pro right away. My iMac seems to be working fine however. If I create a file, it will show up on the server, and vise versa so I am wondering if there is a way to reset home sync or what I could to make it work correctly. I have tried going into workgrop manager and telling it to never sync and then reenableing the sync but this didn't work and I have also tried deleteing all the files and then bringing them all back and again the same probelms happen. Also repaired permissions on all machines. Any suggetions on how I could fix this?

Home Sharing with Work computer PLEASE HELP

This is so frustrating.
I have three computers, two personal and one from work. The two personal ones syncs perfect but the one from work just doesn't sync. I am assuming the firewall is closing traffic on the Home Sharing ports. Now, as you all know I cannot open ports myself and my tech admin refuses to do it as well. I m on the road every single week, and every time I charge my phone with my work laptop it syncs and delete all the stuff I have only on my home computer. this is so annoying.
Any solutions for my problem?
Do you know if iTunes 9.1 solved this issue?
Any good apps for windows that do a better job in syncing itunes?
Any other suggestions???

Those are outdated instructions, you want iTunes > File > Home Sharing.

Home Button Acts up Need some help please

My iPhone 3GS keeps hitting the home button by itslef and wont let me do anything and I have tried resetting my phone and everything but doesnt work what do I do. My iPhone is currently at iOS 5.1.1.

If you've taken all the recommended troubleshooting steps including restoring your phone as NEW and you still have problems, then it's likely a hardware issue.
Bring your phone and $149 (if you're outside the warranty period) to Apple for exchange.

Home button not working...help!

My home button isn't working anymore. It only works when I press it VERY hard but then it feels like I'm about to break it. I'm out of the 1-year warrenty as well. Anybody know what to do? Please and Thank you! (:

Only option I can think of is taking it to Apple and see if they can replace/fix it.

i've been able to stream a h.264 video.
below is the code i used to make the .mp4 stream (which is in
the link above).
everything works great when i publish the swf.
it plays perfectly and everything, but..it's just a little
screen.
what i have to do is create a little video player for it so
you can hit PLAY and STOP, but my creative director also wants it
to be able to SCRUB so you can scrub through it if you want.
i'm not the best flash person in the world, so every little
bit anyone can help me is highly appreciated.
i need to have something to show the creative director by
tomorrow...and i'm really stressing it.
i just need to be able to make what i've set up to PLAY,
STOP, and SCRUB...
and i'm not really sure how to do this.
when i asked my creative director about the scrubbing, he
said u can do that by using netObjects.
whats the most efficient way to make my video play, stop, and
be able to scrub?

How do I save PSD files created in windows so MAC users can open and work

I have been designing photoshop files for sale to photographers online and all of my work has been created in a windows 7 system. I had a photographer contact me saying that the PSD was trouble to open and that the fonts would not work on his MAC computer.
Can someone supply me with information on creating/saving windows PSD files so that a MAC user can open them and also use the fonts I supply with the files.
The files I create are multilayered PSD's and contain fonts for windows PC use and I don't want to exclude MAC users from utilizing my work.
Any help appriciated.

Just save. There is no difference in files between platforms.
There are some Windows-centric font formats that aren't portable, by any OpenType or TrueType font will be portable between platforms.

You need something different since Remote Desktop only works on the same network. You were not clear.

Parallels, Fusion and VirtualBox are all virtualization applications, they 'virtualize' (create) a Windows environment on your Macs OSX operating system.
Boot Camp makes a compatible partition on your hard drive so you may install windows on it directly.
