  • Mac Book Pro with Yosemite run clearly slower than Mavericks

    HI
I come from other thread about problems whit wifi connection with Yosemite. The great Linc David solved the problem and that has meant thoroughly clean the Mac
I have a Mac Book Pro 13", early 2011 (!only four years¡) with 8 GB of RAM (the maximum), 2,7 GHz Intel Core i7 processor and whit Yosemite everything it´s significantly slower that with Mavericks: open a word, do a screening...even when typing fast some first characters don´t appear.
My conclusion it´s clear the max OS that you can install in one Mac Book Pro 13", early 2011,(like me) it´s Maverick. Yosemite clearly slows the mac.
If someone can convince me otherwise I would be very grateful, because I did not backup before installing the Yosemite. And i don´t know how go back. Here you have the Entrecheck report:
    Thanks in advance

  • I have a mac book pro that has become very slow. It has gradually gotten worse over the last 6 months. What can I do to enhance performance and speed?

    I have a mac book pro 9,2, with intel corei5, 2.5 GHz., 1 processor, 2 cores, L2 cache (per core) 256KB, L3 Cache: 3MB, Memory 4GB, Boot Rom Version MBP91.00D3.BO8

    Kernal Version: Darwin 13.4.0
    Boot Volume: Macintosh HD
    Boot Mode: Normal
    Secure Virtual Memory: Enabled
    Regarding the Macintosh Hard Drive:
    Available space 208G.66GB , Capacity 499.25GB
Intel 7 Series Chipset, Link speed 6 Gigabit
Apple HDD Toshiba MK5065GSXF, Revision GV201B
Using Kodak ESP Printer 5200 Series AiO
    Memory slots Bank0/DIMMO 2GB DDR3  1600MHZ and BANK 1/ DIMMO 2GB DDR3 1600MHz
The problem I am experiencing is a slowness of response between changing from various applications. What steps could I take to clean up the boot speeds, the applications speeds and general performance of the computer? I would like to restore the speeds of that when it was new.
Thank you for any suggestions you may have.

  • My mac book pro 13 inch  is being slow

My mac book pro is getting slow and slow and it always hang .. it has 8GB ram and 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7
    1 TB hardesk
and it work on Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3
    please i need help

That is because your Mac is not "dirty".
It has some other specific problem, and you need someone who sees these machines all day, every day to look at it and evaluate what the problem migh be.
That person works at the genius bar at your local Apple store, and  you can make an appointemnt and bring in your Mac for an evaluation for free, in warranty or out of warranty.

  • Mac Book Pro shuts down suddenly

I have been using my mac book pro without problems. All of a sudden I cant move the mouse anymore and the computer shuts down. It will restart itself with a message that reads something like your computer is restarting in 15 seconds or so but click anywhere to get in. Its just weird. I dont see any problems other than it does say I need to service battery. So is this the intial problem or is it something else? What can I do? Am I damaging my computer if I need a new battery? Help please....!

first if you are getting message that your battery needs service, you want to get it looked at either by going to apple store or service provider.
try doing an SMC reset, the following article tells how:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
after this reset restart the computer and see if it works normally if it doesn't see below.
second regarding the restart of your computer, it could be a kernel panic. the following article tells how to troubleshoot this issue:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3742
if after following this article the mac continues to restart try running the apple hardware test to see if there is a hardware issue:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1509
if none of the above steps resolve your issue i would take to apple store or service provider to have it serviced.

  • My Mac book pro mid 2010 is incredibly slow! Even after refurbishing.

My Mac book runs very sluggishly, I have replaced the hard drive, 1TB 5400, doubled the ram, 8GB and performed a fresh install of snow leopard and I'm still getting the beach ball all the time. The boot time is well over a minute. Any ideas would be really appreciated.

  • Safari suddenly VERY slow

I have a iMac G5, a PowerBook G4, and a Dell Desktop all connected to the internet wirelessly via an Airport. This configuration hasn't changed for months, and suddenly this morning my iMac takes forever to load pages via Safari.
Remarkably, the internet works fine via the Dell desktop as well as my PowerBook. The slow load times seem to only affect the iMac. I have tried emptying the cache, reseting Safari, and resatrting the computer, but the problem persists.
It happens on all pages, and the status bar will always state "Loading...", while the blue bar crawls, or (more frequentky) freezes midway across the address bar.
The issue appears to be related to the connection more than simply Safari, as internet dependent widgets (weather, radar in motion, flight tracker) also take a long time to load.
    Any suggestions?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
It sounds like adjustments need to be made either to your Network panel settings, or to the Airport unit. What type of Airport unit are you using? Are you using the unit only for Internet? Do you have the latest firmware installed - version 6.3 for Airport Express or 5.7 for Airport Extreme?

  • I am unable to visit some websites on my mac book pro in safari

  • Mac Book Pro 1.83 Ghx running slow after clean OS installation

    Hi,
Have a problem here, My MBP seems to be running very slow, tried running the repair by booting from the OS disc and its says OK.
Thinking the problem could be with the OS I formatted the system and reinstalled the OS, the issue still persists, also I noticed one more thing, If I try to copy something from the external HDD to Mac it copies at the rate of 4Kbps however from Mac to External HDD is around 20 Mbps.
I suspect it to be the HDD problem.
Can anyone tell me if there is any diagnostic software available for HDD or how can I figure out whats the problem. My Mac is Out of warranty.
    Configuration: OS X 10.6 Snow
    RAM: 1GB
    Processor: Intel 1.83 Ghz
HDD Space: 80 GB 70 GB available space.

There are hard drive apps like Drive Genius and DiskWarrior, but it would be more cost effective just replacing the drive. You really could use more RAM too.

Five ways to eject a stuck CD or DVD from the optical drive
Ejecting the stuck disc can usually be done in one of the following ways:
    1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the left mouse button until the disc ejects.
    2. Press the Eject button on your keyboard.
    3. Click on the Eject button in the menubar.
    4. Press COMMAND-E.
    5. If none of the above work try this: Open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder. At the prompt enter or paste the following:
         /usr/bin/drutil eject
If this fails then try this:
Boot the computer into Single-user Mode. At the prompt enter the same command as used above. To restart the computer enter "reboot" at the prompt without quotes.

  • Systemd suddenly became slow at booting up

Hi! This is gonna be a long post, sorry
I've been messing around with this problem for too long time, so i know really need your help
    The facts:
    1) since, i guess, a month, my netbook takes 10seconds more to boot. I was used to have something near 12s. and *yesterday* i had a 23s bootup.
    2) I wrote "yesterday" because today:
    systemd-analyze blame
    19837ms NetworkManager.service
    17262ms psd.service
    2815ms wpa_supplicant.service
    2027ms systemd-logind.service
    1476ms dev-sda2.swap
    751ms tmp.mount
    692ms systemd-udev-trigger.service
    650ms systemd-udevd.service
    426ms systemd-user-sessions.service
    424ms polkit.service
    232ms verynice.service
    155ms systemd-sysctl.service
Psd.service is triggered by a TIMER unit, 30s after startup (well, after 30s i've always already been with my desktop full loaded...so it took 4-5seconds maximum to load that).
NetworkManager is getting me crazy: yesterday it took 21-22s to load. Today, I noticed that even my "home" laptop is taking more time to bootup, 21s instead of about 13s before. And over there NetworkManager.service takes 9s now. But then i recalled about /etc/uder/rules.d/80-net-name-slot.rules. So i managed to kill that rule, by fixing my scripts. Everything went fine, and my NetworkManager.service now takes 5s (on my home laptop), and bootup takes 15s.
But, doing the same thing on my netbook, drove me to that "blame" posted before. No gain, it seems. And now my systemd is slow as hell to bootup (on netbook), "systemd-analyze" says 33s  (but it reached even 55s on another boot).
    3) I have testing repo enabled on both machines.
    4) From "systemd-analyze plot" it seems that both machines are doing nothing for about 4-5s. This is the plot from my home laptop: http://postimage.org/image/hfymnd6v5/full/.
On the other hand, on my netbook, there are 256 "sys-devices-virtual-tty-tty*.device" ...but on the home-laptop plot there aren't. See here: http://postimage.org/image/evh4rbgmt/full/ . (can't upload it bigger, but you see there are lots of "lines" that shouldn't be there....)
Any idea? Hope i've been clear and thorough enough.
    Thanks!
EDIT: i now noticed that even on my brother's netbook there are those "sys-devices-virtual-tty-tty*". He has a ssd, so it takes 5s to boot anyway. Both installation are old (systemd < 190), while my home laptop installation has 2 weeks.

    hi rossclark13693,
    Welcome to the Forums.
If the Ideacentre K430 didn't came with an mSATA SSD as your boot drive, try to:
    1. Run Disk Defragmenter to fix fragmented boot files that's slowing down the PC.
    2. If the boot time is still slow, you may want to check the disk for consistency.  You can use HD Tune and run an error scan on the drive.
    Let me know your findings.

    Hi there,
What I would suggest you do, is download iStumbler on your MacBook and see what other wireless networks are around you. It sounds to me that perhaps you're on a congested channel and there's another, nearby network that could be swamping your signal, so changing channels might be an option.
    I hope this info helps.
