My MacBook Air has stopped connecting to the net. It is fine with retrieving emails. What is going on?

It could be a lot of things. But try clicking on AirPort radar symbol on your top right toolbar and troubleshoot from there. Next, I would check your Internet preferences under your browser pull down menu. You can also try to reset your modem.

Can a latest Mac Book Air get connected to a display screen?

Presentation at meetings require Mac Book Air get connected to a display screen.
A Mac Book Pro is possible to get connected to a display screen using a A1307 adopter.
Does any one know if the latest Mac Book Air connectable to a display screen using A1307 adopter or anyother means? I would be oblighed to know the possibility prior to buy one.

The Thunderbolt port doubles as a Mini-DisplayPort. Thunderbolt is not the same as Firewire. However, Apple does sell a Thunderbolt to Firewire adaptor so you can connect Firewire devices to the computer. Thunderbolt devices may be daisy-chained, but a display monitor must be the last device on that chain.
According to what I found the A1307 adaptor is Mini-DisplayPort to VGA. It will not connect to a Firewire port.

Mac book Air 2011 Serious Problem!!!!!

I bought Mac Book Air 2011 last week in Apple Store of Australia, but I found when I visit internet at home through WIFI , it is so slow and often dropping, I often cannot open any website but other laptop(Windows System) worked fine and fast!!!
I searched website to find solutions and I found too many people have same problem!!! Sometime I even suspect Air hardware or design have problem!!
This is my first Apple product, I heard someone said Apple is an excellent product but I am so disappointed it at the moment!!!!!! Is there anyone can help me.........PLEASE.........!!!!!!!!!!

I just bought the same machine you did last week - also in Oz.
As you noted, I also had issues with slow WiFi as I started using the machine. However, I upgraded to Lion 10.7.1 and have not had any noticable problems since. I did not try some of the other fixes that are suggested so I don't know if they help.

Mac Book Air (11") Partition Problems

I am using a mac book air (first generation) with a windows partition (30GB mac, 90GB Windows approximately). When I decided to switch back to mac I went to the disk utility and deleted the windows partition. But when I tried to resize the 30GB mac partition (OS extended journal) it simply doesn't increase and now my entire disk appears to have a 30GB size. (I did not use book camp to delete the partition and now it is not possible). How can I resize to the original 120 GB preferably (but not necessarily) losing files and applications of mac system?

Buy MacBook Air 11.6-inch, MId 2014, with 1.4 GHz dual core i5 processor.
Model number may be same. But Mid 2013 model had 1.3GHz dual core i5 CPU.
If possible, upgrade memory to 8GB RAM.

Mac book air trouble connecting with wifi

all of a sudden my air wont connect to the internet even tho it says it is. my ipod and iphone have no problem on my wireless network, i can connect with it at my school however. am i missing something?

Have you tried clearing out any saved WiFi networks from your Network Preferences? Is it not connecting? Is not showing up in the WiFi menu?
What steps have you taken to trouble shoot this issue so far?

Mac Book Air HDMI connect Netflix to TV

Anyone have ideas on how to connect an Air to your TV to stream Netflix? Have the connector cable and the brushed aluminum piece that connects to the hdmi cable and the hdmi cable port on TV. However, getting no connection - just a screen saver pic of the galaxy

If you have the galaxy desktop then it's working. This is called extended desktop mode, it's a logical extension of your desktop to the right. Drag the browser off the right side of your monitor and it will appear on the TV.
You can also mirror your monitor with the TV by pressing CMD F1.
All these settings are in System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement tab.

HELP! Mac Book air Hard Drive problems

Hi all, I am new to this. My Macbook air would not switch on, took it to apple store Buchanan Street Glasgow, who told me I needed a new hard drive, which I paid them 120 pounds for the pleasure. when i asked how i would get my files, photos and itunes from my old hard drive, i was told i had to get an enclosure from a computer shop. I am amazed this is something apple could not do for me. Went to Maplan, PC World and just about every other computer store in Glasgow and no-one seems to be able to help, i need my files from old hard drive, can anyone help? I have looked on-line but i dont have a clue.

The enclosure you need will vary based on which revision MBA you have. If you have a Rev A MBA you need a 1.8 PATA ZIF enclosure which can be found here (in the States):

I found these by searching on "1.8” SATA II LIF" or "1.8 PATA ZIF" while I was upgrading my MBA's 80 GB HD to an SSD.

Your advice did not help me. I also installed 10.7.4 combo but the situation is the same.
my internet connection is ok, mail is ok, but app store after 3 resets does not recognize my ID and it says "connection is not possible". Why? somewhere on the windows machineshould be something like "network setup wizard". exactly where it is and what it is called i cannot remember off the top of my head, windows help is actually slightly useful here, it should have a link to it.
all the options checked on the mac are only what services the mac is offering to other machines, they have nothing to do with the services it can access (mostly...).
oh yeah, to actually connect to the pc after you have turned its sharing on, use the finder, or, when it does not show the pc (this happens on and off, possibly a refresh problem apple...) choose go --> connect to server and enter smb://<pc's name or ip>
to find the ip, the easiest way i think is
start --> run --> cmd ->> ipconfig

Mac book air connection to tv problem

I am having an issue with connection my mac book air to my tv. I am using a thunderbolt / Mini Displayport to HDMI adapter to connect to an sony TV. The computer screen shows up on the tv but both the tv and computer screens keep on blinking and changing resolutions. Is there an easy fix to this? The mac book has an operating system of OS X 10.9.3 and the sony tv is a Bravia.

If I were having this issue, I'd try all the resolutions, plus I'd disconnect the cable and/or restart after every one, but that's just me, I like to try anything that might work.

I have a mac book air 11". When I boot up connected to the huge Thunderbolt screen it detects the detects the fact and gives me great quality. now I am travelling away from the scree it boots up, nice picture, then switches to rubbish resolution.

I have a Mac Book air 11". Normally at home I connect this to a large Thuderbolt Screen. When booting up it some times gets confused and offers me a low resolution result, but some plugging and unplugging of the screen fixes this. I assume it sometimes "sees" the big screen and sets the resolition accordingly. Sometimes does not. But now... I am away from big screen and cannot get the Macbook air on its one to deliver anything other than really poor resolution. I ahve done displays and chosen all three - but no better. And I have said Choose the Best ONe... again not luck. Any ideas. I read in back posts this was a problem a few years ago.

I believe you have a failing GPU (aka Video Card). Run AHT and see what it tells you. Do not be afraid to run it up to three times in succession if at first it does not detect an error (sometimes errors that are caused by overheating will not show up until the computer is stressed enough - repeating AHT will do that).
As an aside - the MBA was not designed to take the place of a desktop. If you are powering your MBA by leaving it permanently attached to the thunderbolt port on the monitor you are shortening your battery life.

I recently purchased a time capsule and thought I would put my itunes on it as an external drive as my mac book air only has 120gb. However I can not be connected to the internet and the TC at the same time in order to download the files to the TC. Help?

However when I download songs from iTunes I can not be connected wirelessly to the internet at the same time. Initially, you asked if you can hardwire your MBA to the TC. The answer is yes, by using the optional USB Ethernet adapter that Apple provides. However, in order for your MBA to access the TC's internal or USB-attached HDD, it would need to establish a network connection to it. This would be true of any NAS device on an Ethernet network. Therein, lies the problem. Your MBA cannot connect to two networks simultaneously.
One option then, would be to have two separate iTunes Media folders; one on the MBA & the other on the TC. This way, you can download the music to your MBA when connected to the Internet at the AirPort lounge, and then use iTunes Consolidate Library feature to transfer the audio files to the TC's iTunes Media Folder location. A great program to help maintain multiple iTunes Librarys and/or Media Folders, that you may want to consider, is PowerTunes.

Mac book air Bluetooth internet connection

I am trying to connect my mobile phone which is on vodafone in the UK through a bluetooth dial up connection on my mac book air. The phone connects to the mac, but when i press connect bluetooth DUN it tries to connect but fails to establish a connection and pops up that there is a problem with the modem are there any settings i need to change???

OK so I uninstalled the anti virus software and iTunes is now showing the ATV in the device list again. However it still wont sync. It says it is syncing but the progress bar just shows the dancing diagonal lines but there is no progress made until it eventually just stops trying to sync. I have also tried to change the chanel on the airport express to several different options but it has not made a difference. Any more ideas?
