Mac Book cannot connect to older Belkin Router

Hi Everyone,
I am a brand new Mac user (as of yesterday) and am
trying to set the thing up. Never used a Mac before
so I am not sure if it is me being a MacVirgin or
not.
I have an older Belkin router (which incidently
connects to everything under the sun, D-LINK, Belkin,
Sony PSP, my 360 everything). My Mac Book can see my
network which is an unsecured Belkin54g. When I try
to connect however, I get a useless error back
saying:
There was an error joining the airport network
"belkin54g".
As I have said before, everything else can connect to
this network and it is unsecured at present.
The router I am using is the Belkin FSD7630-4A which
is currently running at 11g (slow I know). I also
have not done any firmware updates to this either.
Would this help?
I am also using the latest airport update and
OSX10.4.9
Does anyone know of any solution to this issue. Has
anyone experienced anything similar.

Ok - new macbook arrived. Exactly the same problem.
Long chat with Belkin - they can't help.
So I tried the following.
Added an airport express which i had lying around to the belkin modem/router by ethernet.
Bingo
New macbook connects to the airport express just fine, but not the wireless belkin. I connect to the internet by piggyback.
Something is no longer compatible between 'older' belkin routers wireless and newest macbooks.
I suppose they gotta keep selling us kit...2 years old and still working? No good to wall street.....

Normally, AirPort Utility is not used or needed to set up Time Machine backups......unless a default setting on the Time Capsule to Enable File Sharing has been changed.
On the other hand, if you open AirPort Utility, a picture of the Time Capsule should be displayed. Are you saying here that the Time Capsule does not appear when you open AirPort Utility?

Because the iPhone does not support the BlueTooth file transfer profile. The only phone to computer profile supported is for tethering.

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion I cannot connect to my wireless router

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion I cannot connect to my wireless router. I have 2 wireless networks in my home. One is the primary whuch all of my devices connect to. The other is for backup only. I cannot connect to the primary with my iMac but have no trouble with any of the other devices which include iphones and ipads.phones and iPads. I can however connect to the backup without a problem. I have tried upgrading the firmware of the router as well as changing the security from WEP to WPA-2, no luck. Can anyone help?

In Finder, open the Go menu, press and hold the option key, 'Library' will appear on the menu, click and scroll to Application Support, open the folder and scroll to 'AddressBook-v22.abcddb'. from the wired computer , access the router using http://192.168.1.1 . the default password is admin
on the router ui , click on the "wireless" tab , change the ssid - any non-linksys name , channel - 11 , ssid broadcast - enabled
go to the "wireless security" subtab .. change the security mode to WEP - 64 bits , default transmit key - 1 , enter a 10 digit hexadecimal number in the WEP key 1 field , passphrase - empty

If you add another Time Capsule, you can have one or both Macs backup to that new device.
However, please note that it is not possible to have backups "carry over" seamlessly from one Time Capsule to another.
If you add a new Time Capsule, each Mac that is backing up to the new device will make a new complete backup and then backup incrementally after the master backup is completed.

I cant get my Mac Book to connect to my Apple TV. My Ipad and Ipone connect just fine.
The Icon that should be at the top of my desktop is not there and the Apple tv mirrioring option in the Display system pref is not avalible
Any sugestions would be great.

If you´ve already verified if your Mac is able to connect to Airplay (note, Mountain Lion is not the point, but your Hardware is)
try to note this?
1. both are connected through the same wifi?
2. you´ve entered the Apple TV with the same Home Sharing (Apple ID) active?
* I mean, both Mac and Apple TV must be configured with the same Apple ID, and Home Sharing should be turned on in your iTunes.

Mac book trouble connecting to wifi

My router was old and we received a new one. My mac book used to recognize my router and now will not connect. All the other devices now connect to the new router except the laptop. Is there something special that I need to do?

Make sure you are connecting to the proper network with the supplied wireless network key on the side of the modem. If you are and all other devices are connecting except this one it may be an issue with that PC, like the wireless card is turned off (some laptops have a switch you can turn on and off). If you can connect that laptop to a wired connection and it gets internet i would suggest you check with the manufacture. Could be the wireless being turned off, or the entire network card is bad.

Thanks for your response. I did update the router's firm ware. I have limited the internet access to my home's router by our computer's MAC addresses. That worked, until I tried to encrypt. After I encrypted, the Safari connection was lost and I have yet to figure out how to get the connection back, preferably encrypted. Thanks.

Trouble connecting to a Belkin Router

I have a Powerbook G4 and I am trying to connect to my existing Belkin router. It sees my network but when I try to join it is says "There was an error joining the Airport network "Belkin"." I have a windows laptop that is connected to the network already.

my iphone 4s will no longer connect to internet via wifi if it is password protected. i have tried to restart the phone reset the phone reset factory settings tried from a distance nothing works. i have connected my mac book and iphone 5 with the same password successfuly but the 4s wont connect. i have gone back to other knowen connections and since resetting the factory settings it will no longer connect there either what should i do??

i have a mac book pro 1.5 yars old and i got the cable to connect to flatsreen samsung via a adaptor and pc input cable for the tv
i had a great picture right away but no sound
is there a sound suppose to be or not ?or do i need a different cable connect to the tv to get the sound as well /

Cannot connect printer (F4580) to router

Good evening,
I just bought my printer and I am having the hardest trouble connecting it to my router (Linksys WRT150N). When I try to set it up, I follow the instructions but the result is always the same! It says that the printer cannot connect to the router and it asks me if the SSID it correct, which it is! What can I do?

Mac book air connection to tv problem

I am having an issue with connection my mac book air to my tv. I am using a thunderbolt / Mini Displayport to HDMI adapter to connect to an sony TV. The computer screen shows up on the tv but both the tv and computer screens keep on blinking and changing resolutions. Is there an easy fix to this? The mac book has an operating system of OS X 10.9.3 and the sony tv is a Bravia.

If I were having this issue, I'd try all the resolutions, plus I'd disconnect the cable and/or restart after every one, but that's just me, I like to try anything that might work.

Satellite Pro L300-1B9 cannot connect to my Wireless router

I have activated the wireless nw on SAT L300 PRO 1B9 - but with many fight...
First I needed to find the switch to enable (I never though that it have... :-) ).
Then I needed to deinstall Atheros in Windows, and set the flags on (enable) in the Windows driver.
But in both Linux and Windows I couldn't connect to my Wireless router.
My luck was that some of my neightbours have security-disabled, open wireless network, what I could map to test.
The test was succecfully with that network, but my wireless router was unreachable.
From other machine I could reach it.
The result was:
If I set the router to broadcast the SSID, both OSs (Ubuntu + Windows) can use wireless network.
But if I disable the broadcasting (to protect my router), the network driver cannot use my router, it does not matter I pre-set the SSID...
A router is WRT54G, and it is working with other computers if I hide the SSID, but with SAT L300 Pro cannot connect (with this option).
Do anybody knows why? What I need to do to I could hide the SSID from the bad guys?

I dont know which Windows OS do you use but if you use original Vista, I think, right WLAN driver is part of the package. So WLAN card must be installed properly.
It is not easy to say what is wrong there but if the notebook can see and detect your WLAN network on notebooks side everything must be OK. Try to restart your router and check all settings.
In my opinion there is some problem with WLAN settings.
