Can anyone tell me what this means and how I might be able to fix the crashing problem. I do use this computer A LOT for at least 6 hours a day and because I study moving from class to class I have to put it to sleep would this be the cause because of frequently put to sleep and frequent use of the computer. I am up to my 3rd SSD (the others have died), my 3rd set of ram modules and I have had the sleep censer replace at least 3 times I have replaced the dvd drive as that died and many of the internal connecter have been replaced (none of these components were damaged from being droped or anything when i got it fixed i was told that it just 'died' and i could not do any thing to avoid it. Can some one please help me because I have tried many fixes software wise and have got nowhere. do i need to get a new laptop or can it be fixed,
forgot to say, if i get Corsair DDR3 8GB (2x 4GB) PC-10600 that sould work with the laptop?

Okay - I think my mac book has finally crashed.
It's sorta gone haywire. The dock has disapeared, Finder is not showing all the applications, spotlight is not working, it keeps coming up with an error saying that the spell check is not activated when I type, when select apple, then Mac OS X software a message comes up saying
'your system settings are being updated. Unable to open preferred web browser. Try again in a few minutes.'
It also will not shut down or restart, not even with Force Quit. I have to force the shut down by pressing down the on button continually. It has been stuck like this for about 6 hours.
Any suggestions?
ThanksHI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
Have you tried booting from your install disk and verifying the hard disk for errors?
Insert the installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger and later) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
Select your start up disk and click Restart
If you cannot boot from your install disk, try booting in Safe Mode

Mac Book crashing for no apperent reason
I had a problem where my macbook crashed for no reason, when I was just doing regular stuff like searching the web. I turned it on again after the crash and it started up but then crashed again within 10 seconds. I waited a bit and tried again but it crashed instantlly, After a few times of waiting then trying it finally started up. It could not be of overheating because I am in a cold place where it is snowing outside and I had barley used the laptop when it crashed. Also it could not be a power surge for I hjave everything connected through a surge box. I was lucky that nothing important was running so i did not lose data but am still curious on what may have happened.
Does anyone have an idea of maybe why this happened?
Mac book Mac OS X (10.4.8)Ive been having the same problem. In OS X sometimes right after I turn it on it will have a kernel panic, other times programs will open for about a second and then immediately close. Its getting very frustrating.

Mac Book Crash During Partition
I recently went to install Windows XP on my MAC, and during the Partition portion of Boot Camp my MAC Book Pro crashed. Once back up, I see that the partition size I had set is no longer visible to the MAC Software, and when I run boot camp again it asks me to partition again. Any suggests on how to complete the install or how to get that partition accessible through OSX. I am currently running the most recent version of Leopard.
ThanksI suspect it is a 10.5.2 issue, rather than a Bootcamp-specific one. Here's why I think that FWIW...
Earlier this evening I was trying to shrink an existing partition on an external Firewire 800 disk, so I could make room for a new just-for-Time-Machine partition (equivalent to what you'all are doing to make room for a Windows partition on your Macs). I get a repeatable kernel panic as follows. Is the "hfs_lock: locking against myself!" error message the same as you are getting when partitioning for Bootcamp with 10.5.2?

Mac book crashes after Itunes upgrade
My Mac book will not boot now after upgrading to I-tunes 8. Has anyone else experienced this? What have you done to fix?
absolutely! It happened to me when I updated Firefox, and I was able to correct it. Try holding CommandOption+PR all at the same time while booting up. The "ding" sound when you boot up will repeat while holding the buttons. I believe you want to hear the "ding" sound 3 times then release all 4 keys. This resets something known as "PRAM" which fixed it for me the first time. Since then, I updated to Itunes 8 and Quicktime 7 and now my laptop will not boot at all. I tried resetting the "PRAM" again and got nowhere. Let me know if you solved your issue.

MAc book crashing after Mountain Lion download
My MacBook Pro crashes when I move icons on my desktop. after it loads I get error message with a bunch of nonsense and GPU Panic which applecare peeps seem to think is a problem with graphics? I downloaded Mountain Lion yesterday. Help! it keeps crashing. I am panicking!
You have the MacBookPro6,2, the Edsel of Macs. It has a defective logic board that may be covered by this recall program:
MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010): Intermittent black screen or loss of video
Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider, to have the machine tested. The routine hardware diagnostics used by service providers do not detect the fault. There is a specific test for this issue.
Print the first page of the panic report, and the support page linked above, and bring them with you.
Note that the recall only applies within three years of purchase. After that, Apple may refuse the service. In that case, you may be quoted a price of about $300 (in the U.S.) for a "depot repair," which involves shipping the unit to a central repair facility and takes about two weeks. For that flat fee, anything found wrong with it should be fixed, not just the logic board.
The model was discontinued in February 2011, so the replacement program will be ending soon. Some units may have been sold by Apple as refurbished after that date.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
Sometimes the replacement part is also defective, so be prepared for that possibility.
If it's too late for your unit to be repaired under the program, and you don't want to pay for a new logic board, you may be able to stop the panics by disabling automatic graphics switching.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed. -
I've run Disk warrior, it says all the files and harddrive are fine.
thanks for your help. This crashing was happening before I upgraded to Lion

Mac Book Crashing in while on battery
I have a 17 inch macbook pro - it is fully patched/updated and I have gone through and tossed cache files, finder prefs, reset vram/pram, rebuilt permissions and checked harddrive integrity. The only things I have not done is reset the pmu, which I am going to do after I send this. When I untether from the cord, I expereince hard lockups that do not even record anything in the crash logs (that I have ever noticed) I assume that this is a kernal panic severe enought to totally block any futher program logic. I can work for hours with the computer plugged in. I did let the computer run asleep on the battery for 2 days and it woke right up, though in a somewhat discharged state, it did lock up serveral times while recharging. I suspect that the battery is flaky on this unit - is there anything further that I can test/check or attempt to resolve?
I once experience this issue with my old Powerbook when I upgraded the RAM. I got some cheap RAM for free and stuck it in and it worked, until I unplugged power and I got a kernal panic.
Basically what happened to my Powerbook (and I'm assuming this is the same issue - that is if you upgraded your RAM recently) was in the energy perferences you can select what processor performance to use based on what the power supply was - high performance on power adapter and low performance on battery power for example; this is called processor slewing. Basically some kind of inferior RAM cannot handle it when the processor instantly changes speed.
I spend the money and got some nice Samsung RAM and the problem went away. Not sure if this applies to the Intel mac's though...
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86612 -
Here is Panic Log, I cannot see what is causing it - I am running Parallels to connect with SAP and Outlook, I recently had my hard drive upgraded as the old hard drive was thought to be the error by the Genius at the apple store.
Perhaps some-one could let me know what is causing the crash - it started today

Thunderbolt Bus: MacBook Pro, Apple Inc., 22.1I recently had my hard drive upgraded as the old hard drive was thought to be the error by the Genius at the apple store.
Repairs performed by an Apple Store have a warranty. Assuming that warranty period has not ended, take it back to them, tell them it's still not fixed, and ask what they intend to do about it. -
My mac book crashed and I can't restore it. What should I do?
I turn my MAC laptop on and all I see is a folder and question mark. Can I install OS X Mountain Lion from scratch?
Try the suggestions in this link first, but if they fail you should be able to re-install the OS using the Recovery HD:
Flashing Question Mark: A flashing question mark or globe appears when you start your Mac
Recovery HD: OS X: About OS X Recovery
Do you have backup it to restore from if you have to? -

Mid 2010 mac book pro crashing too many times!!!
HELP! I'm basically fed up with my mac book pro crashing so many times in a day. I'm not doing anything tedious, just basic web surfing and music and some microsoft word/excel. I've read that someone recommended to run EtreCheck and paste the result here so anyone that knows how to read them can help me figure out what's happening!
Problem description:
My Mac book pro have been crashing lately. I’ve max out my RAM to 8gb. And the frequency seems to increased to few times in a day. I’ve uninstalled a software that I suspect to be causing the problem but it didn’t help.
EtreCheck version: 2.1.8 (121)
