Mac book pro 15" 2.3 ghz the battery cannot be charged. the upper corner right says it's plugged in but not charging.

I just brought my Mac book pro 15" 2.3 ghz on 12 september 2012 not even one week I've used it the battery cannot be charged.
the upper corner right says it's plugged in but not charging.
How do I solve this I'm going to London the next week! (23/09/2012)
I need this replaced or repaired ASAP. Is tat possible? It hasn't being used for even a week and it's already cause such a trouble? Is this what Mac is?

Hi Steve,
I just got back from the apple service centre. I must say they treat us pretty bad and raising voices and stuffs.. If you wanna question or doubt on such service, I've recoded everything in my mobile and iPad. The company I brought from is TECHNOCRATS in 1Borneo Hypermall. The service centre headquarters is DIGITAL FORTRESS SDN. BHD. located in Damai Point.
Here's what happened..
I went in the service centre and disappointingly, no one entertain us (my boyfriend and I).. we stood there for a few minutes. :(
Till we enquire for administration and problems. A girl said she doesn't know much. She gave me a number to her superior named Charles. She asked us to contact him. Then we asked "aren't you suppose to call your superior regarding to this matter?". "it's this the part of your profession to call Charles? Why is it my job to find him?"
Soon the lady calls him and she passed the phone to my partner.
Wow, there was raising voices and stuffs in the phone. So my partner asked him to come up to the office and discuss this matter since he was jst downstairs. For your information this is the second visit of the day, so we visited the second time after lunch hour which is 2:15pm
Well it was dramatic, Charles with his raising voices and terrible attitude for a greeting. So he straight forward blamed us for not putting the mbp down to the registration. (FYI no one there bothers to serve us for the 1st and 2nd visit). For my concern, this mbp is not cheap. And how can I just put down my laptop and leave? Without any rational reasons.
Long story short, I told him my problem and he said he will make a diagnosis and will return the answer to me tomorrow probably before noon.
Here's what I'm upset about. I enquire about the genius bar. He kinda felt offended and told me tat only apple store has genius bar! Im just asking you don't néed to be so loud on this.. I'm still very new to Mac products and stuffs.
Now that I have sent in my Mac book pro to diagnosis with the cables and everything. Hope to get the answers soon and hope it wasn't really bad since it was new.
Now its pretty much scarred on my side about Mac's Brand. I just wanted a reasonable solving problem and yet I get negative feedbacks from the service centre. Is this how it should end? I'm still pretty upset right now.
Any suggestions for me? Please?
Worried,
Shirley

  • Why does my computer say that its plugged in but not charging yet the battery is not reducing

i have had a few weird occurences and im not sure what caused it. abruptly my speakers would stop working & my battery life would start reducing. that happened i think 3 times over the course of several months. this last time which was the 3rd is when i changed electrical outlets thinking that maybe that was the problem. and the power & speakers immediately went back to normal. its only been a few days since i changed outlets & everything is working as it should be however as mentioned the battery icon on the taskbar says that its plugged in but not charging & it remains at 99% for the last 2 days.

    Hi,
First of all, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter, remove the battery, and then hold down the Power button for 30 seconds.
Now, plug in the AC Adapter without the battery inserted, start the notebook, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager, expand the entry for Batteries, right click on and the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery and select Uninstall - do not uninstall anything else here.  When the uninstall is complete, shut the notebook down, unplug the AC Adapter, re-insert the battery and then start the notebook on just the battery.  Windows will automatically reinstall the driver - leave Windows running for a few minutes. Shut down the notebook again.  Now plug in the AC Adapter ( with the battery still inserted ) and start the notebook to see if this has helped the charging issue at all.

how can i fix my mac book pro i bought in mid 2010, it is slowing down. the pin wheel does spin a alot.

    try this;
open disk utility - verify disk permissions - repair disk permissions if errors are found.  might take an hour or less - depending on how much errors needs to be repaired.
restart your macbook and see if that sorts it out for you.
also check your hard drive space.  if your hard drive is almost full, that will also contribute to your macbook getting slower....
    good luck

I have recently purchased a hybred 750GbHDD as an upgrade for my MAC Book Pro (Intell Version) I have a boot camp partition to the original 500GB HDD. How can I expand both partitions to fit the new drive?
I have tried bootcamp and have had no luck due to the fact that boot camp doesn't see the additional HDD space of 250Gb. What am I not doing?

Ouch, well there is a problem.
This is the stack of partitions on your old drive
    EFI (hidden)
    Lion (50GB say)
    Bootcamp (50GB say)
    Lion Recovery Partiton (hidden)
This is the same stack on your new drive imaged from the old one.
    EFI (hidden)
    Lion (50GB say)
    Bootcamp (50GB say)
    Lion Recovery Partiton (hidden)
    Emtpy Space (100GB say)
    This is what you want
    EFI (hidden)
    Lion (100GB say)
    Bootcamp (100GB say)
    Lion Recovery Partiton (hidden)
EFI has to be at the top of the drive and Lion Recovery has to be at the bottom of the drive.
And you only have four partitions.
You can't move the Lion Recovery Partition or Bootcamp partiton, however you can expand the Lion Partition into empty space below it. (but can't delete or move the Lion Recovery partition)
Your Duplicator duplicated perfectly, too perfectly Likely would work with same sized drives/partitions.
This is what your going to need to do.
You need to move the Bootcamp partition to a blank external drive using WinClone and disconnect. This is so you have two backups of it. (one on your old 500GB drive)
You will need a drive enclousre or IDE/SATA to USB adapter cable for the older 500GB drive and option key boot from it. (some enclosures can't be booted from so check first Other World Computing is good place to ask)
Download the free Carbon Copy Cloner, grab any new files off the new 750GB internal drive to the old 500GB your booted from.
Open Apple's Disk Utility and Erase with Zero option the entire internal 750GB drive and let it rip, this will map off as many bad sectors and improve reliability.
Now use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the 500GB Lion + Lion Recovery Partitions to the internal 750GB, it will "fix" things and place Lion Recovery at the bottom of the drive where it belongs, give all the extra space to OS X Lion.
Next your going to have to follow WinClones instructions to restore your Bootcamp, likely you will have to recreate the Bootcamp partition first (in Bootcamp) to the size you want and then clone. Likely Winclone may "fix" Windows to recognize it's in a new larger partition now. I don't know you'll have to check as I haven't used it.
When Bootcamp creates the partition it will place it near the bottom next to the Lion Recovery Partition.
As you know you will have to re-validate Windows with Lord Redmond or it expires as you changed the hardware.

Bad choice, since the cost is exorbitant. Snow Leopard ($29 USD) is available from its online store's telesales agents.[1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753) or Customer Service and Sales Support at 1-800-676-2775.]
Additionally, you can get a MAS redemption code via the same route. See https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4140947?tstart=0 for details.

  • I have an old mac book pro built in 2006. I just use it in the kitchen to go on the internet--which it does fairly well. It's running OS 10.6.8. Would it be risky to upgrade to the OS 10.7.4 Lion. Or should I leave well enough alone?

Would it be risky to upgrade to the OS 10.7.4 Lion. Or should I leave well enough alone? I was hoping that the upgrade would allow me to use an old version of Kindle for Mac. I need to get the machine into 2012 functionality. If I can't do it, no worries.

The very early 2006 MBPs are limited to Snow Leopard (10.6.8).  If your MBP is a model Identifier 2.1 or 2.2, then you can install Lion (10.7.5).  Note that the transition to Lion might mean that some applications will not be compatible so updates or substitutions would be needed.
I have a 2006 MBP, Model Identifier 1.2, and it is running Snow Leopard very efficiently.  It is just a bit slower than newer ones, especially in the graphics area.  Otherwise is is a very good machine.
    Ciao.

That is the best list ever for Lion compatibility!
    You can also do this:
Launch the programs you know and love on your Snow Leopard Mac.
    Utilities --> Activity Monitor
Under the "Kind" tab it will identify the programs running PowerPC, Intel and Intel 64.
No PowerPC apps will run under Lion.
Don't worry about Apple's system stuff like Mail, iCal, Safari.
Don't worry about the system processes, like fontd and launchd, those will be replaced if you go to Lion.
Just look for the programs that you need.

Hello, I am running a Mac book pro soft. 10.5.8 version. Since June the current year I did not get any updates for the software or any kinds of the other application, in my opinion that's weird for such a company.
The problem that I have now is with the Iphone 5 which is not supported for the current Itunes and I can not download the Itunes 10.7 version. What I supposed to do in this case because I can not syncronize at all.
Please give me a hand as soon as possible.
    Many thanks

Mac OS X 10.5.8 is years old, 3 major versions out-of-date and unsupported at this point. You will never get any further updates for 10.5.8, and more and more applications will stop supporting 10.5.8 as time goes on. As mende1 points out, you can buy Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6), which will let you use your new iPhone with your computer, but you need to make sure your computer's hardware is supported. See the system requirements for Snow Leopard:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
If your computer cannot run Snow Leopard, you will need to either buy a new computer or abandon any thoughts of syncing the iPhone with that computer.
Also, note that you'll get far better integration of your iPhone and your Mac if you're using Lion (Mac OS X 10.7) or Mountain Lion (Mac OS X 10.8), which are required to use iCloud. Of course, the requirements of those systems are even steeper than those of Snow Leopard:

If you didn't have "Find My Mac" enabled under the iCloud System Preferences pane, there's likely no way to trace your machine over the Internet.

This what my IT replied with:
That teh MacBook cannot connect with RWW because it requires Active-X to connect.  That MAc browsers (Safari) do not use Active-X but only Windows (IE) uses Active-X control.
It would seem to me that there must be a way around this. Any help?

Which model MacBook Pro do you have (e.g., “15-inch Late 2011”) and which version of OS X are you running?
