No, you can't upgrade the GPU on a MaBook Pro - it's soldered onto the logic board.

Hi I got a new mac book pro retina display of 8G ram and 256GB ssd (late 2013 model). I was trying to shut down.It was taking around 20-30 secs.Is this normal? When i say shutdown i mean , i just login and shutdown.Do nothing else. I repeated the same process for 4 or 5 times. The numbers are the same.
The boot up takes around 15 secs. Are the numbers crazy or normal.

This is not necessarily 100% correct at the current time.
As Dropbox is encouraging people to set it up for automatic uploading of photos they gradually increment your space as you load more pictures for free at the current time.
You do start with a fixed 2 GB but if you upload photos you will be awarded more free space.
You can also open a free account with Flickr - you may have some upload limits per day but you can upload pictures there. -

I was using a dangle (wireless portable internet data card) called TATA Photon plus in INDIA since 6 years with a MAC book pro. it was working fine. since I have changed my MAC book pro with retina display with mervicks 10.9.3 its not recognizing the device. service providers say it will not work for 10.9.3. so, my question is which device can work for my purpose ? any body can suggest!!

Mac Book Pro constantly displays spinning wheel of death HELP!!!
My Mac Book Pro (after installing Mavericks) displays the spinning wheel of death multiple times per day. I thought it was my Google Chrome, but now it has been happening no matter what application I am using. I used Etrecheck to see what is going on with my computer, but I don't actually know what the output means. I've copied the information below.
More information: I no longer have a Blackberry, but I don't know how to remove any software that may still be on my computer (since I see Blackberry listed under Kernel Extensions). I also backed up my harddrive on the 28th, just to be safe.
I would greatly appreciate any and all help with this. I'm in the process of trying to study for mulitple teacher certification exams, so this is the worst possible time for tmy computer to suddenly go haywire. Thank you so much to anyone who takes the time to help!

yes, it could be due to nearly anything listed in your kernel extensions, startup items, launch daemons, launch agents, or user items above. Please check all of your installed third-party software to make sure that the versions which are installed on your MacBook Pro are compatible with Mavericks; uninstall every software package which isn’t Mavericks-compatible. After you’ve done that, boot into Safe mode, and see if you still get the beach ball of doom there. If it doesn’t appear there, restart normally and see if it appears then. -

I'm leaving in Rio - Brazil. I intend to go to Orlando on September, 27 of this year! A display of my notebook MAC BOOK PRO 15" 2007 is broked.
I intend to bring with me to fix it at Apple Florida Mall store. I would like to know:
1) How long time to fix it?
2) May I upgrade my notebook OX software? I cannot loose all of my informations inside in the HD. I cannot acess those information since last year, when broked.

ArthurSome folks can't leave well enough alone, and insist on downloading all sorts of additional "stuff" that ends up making their Mac unstable.
Standard Mac OS X on properly-operating Hardware does not crash, unless you start installing too many add-ons.
You can run "just the basics" by holding down the Shift key at Startup. This does one pass of Disk Repair, then loads a minimal set of extensions, and comes up in Safe Mode. If it works OK that way, but crashes in "regular", it's the add-ons.
There ia another layer of add-on junk that can be added to Safari. If the only remaining problem is Safari crashing, those add-ons can be disabled as well. -
CS6 resolution on Mac Book Pro Retina Display
The resolution for all CS6 programs on mac book pro retina is horrific. Will there be updates?! I am quite frustrated that I can barely see any of my type in Indesign.
InDesign has yet not came up with the retina display support update but yes we are going to have the support of retina display for most of the products eventually.

Troubles with mac book pro tv display
We have a Sony tv and our new Mac Book Pro is connected with an HDMI cable and adapter specifically ordered for this set up.
when It's connected I get the Solar system page (the one that comes standard with the laptop) I have a diffrent wall paper up and none of my open windows show up..
Detecting Displays doesn't do much Perhaps I'm missing something?That's called "extended desktop mode". It's a logical extension of the desktop off to the right of your Mac monitor. Grab a window and drag it off the right side of your screen and it will appear on the TV.
You can mirror your monitors by pressing CMD F1.
These settings are in System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement tab.

Ich verwende für meine Fotografie eine D80 digitale Spiegelreflexkamera von Nikon mit Aperture.
Ich habe ein Mac Book Pro (ca. ein- einhalb Monate alt) Ist also schon das neue mir dem LED Display.
Jetzt höre ich immer wieder man sollte es auf jeden Fall kalibrieren.
Geht es da speziell um MEINEN Monitor, oder ist das bei allen MacBook Pro Monitoren gleich?
Bin also in die Systemsteuerung gegangen und habe mir die ganzen Farbprofile einmal angesehen.
Dann habe ich zu Beginn einmal gesehen, dass fr diesen Monitor passend (also wenn das aktiviert ist) eigentlich nur 2 Profile da sind.
Wieso passen denn die anderen nicht?
Habe einmal alle ausprobiert.
Also das einzige, dass nicht sofort einen fürchterlichen Farbstich hervorruft ist eigentlich das Adobe RGB (1998)
Dann hab ich auch selbst versucht das zu kalibrieren. Wenn ich die Einstellungen allerding so setzte (also die Regler, dass es für mich gut aussieht,dann habe ich eigentlich einen ziemlichen Rot- Stich.
Das Standard Farb-LCD Profil, ist eher gelb-grüner und heller.
Kann man da ein Standard nehmen, oder selbst kalibrieren und warum wird das wie beschrieben so rosa lastig?
Oder muß ich da was in Aperture einstellen? (hab da nichts im Manual gefunden)

KEIN Monitor ist gleich dem anderen. Auch wenn Du Deine Bilder fürs Web machst, solltest Du von einem Null-Punkt ausgehen.
Es geht also um Deinen. Die anderen sind dann rot oder lila-grau-gepunktet.
Lade das Adobe RGB 1998.
Gehe dann in Systemeinstellungen und klicke auf Monitore. Dann auf kalibrieren. Es öffnet sich ein wenigstens einigermaßen gebrauchsfähiges, alles andere kostet richtig Geld, Kalibrierungstool. Gehe auf Expert. Besser als nix.
So und dann musst Du halt DEINEN Monitor so einstellen. mal sehen, ob ich Dir so eine In-etwa-Anleitung zusammen basteln kann.
Aber eigendlich ist das Tool selbsterklärend.
Stelle nur nachher die Farbtemperatur auf 5.500°K ein.

Mac book pro 15' video card on fault
i have my mac book pro 15" May 2011, i was working on it on friday but when i start the pro on Monday morning and the video was fail to show the apple window only blue screen, when i send it to apple autherize work shop and the technical adviser claim that the video was on fault, for that they have to change the whole mother board, the cost of repair quoted to me at $1022.
i was so angry, why the apple product now a day was so not reliable, i have total of 3 mac book pro. 2x13" for my kid and 15" for myself, some time last yaer my kid's 13" mac book pro also having same problem and have the mother board change but was lucky when her's with in wanranty.
can any one help, is there any way to make apple have the repair done in no cost or lower.It's a little late in the game, but I always purchase the AppleCare Protection Plan which extends your warranty from one year to three years whenever I buy an Apple product.
If you're out of warranty, you should just expect to pay for any hardware repairs.
That's just the way it is... other companies operate the same.
