Mac Book Pro, Blackberry, Wireless Connect w/ Verizon

Hi! I need to set up the wireless internet service using my blackberry. I know I need to subscribe w/ Verizon, but what else? The Verizon directions on the website talk about loading some CD onto the PC. Where do I get this CD, and does that mean I always have to run my Windows side when connecting this way?
Thanks!!!

You can "tether" your BlackBerry device to your MacBook via Bluetooth. First, have your BlackBerry discoverable, then have the Bluetooth setup assistant on your MacBook to look for Phones. Once it sees the BB, you will have to enter a security code on the BB in order to pair the two devices. Next, you have to setup the Bluetooth device as a modem, and use Verizon Support (PC 5220) as the modem selection. Your username will me your BB telephone number (10 digits) @ vzw3g.com and your password will be vzw I have a BB 8830 and a MacBook Pro and can surf the internet on the MacBook in any location where I have Verizon Service. If your service is with a different carrier, you will have to use different details. Good luck. There are many good postings on the net regarding this, just Google what you need for more information, or call your provider.

I have OS 10.8.2 and use wireless at home just fine.
When I visit a friend with only a cable modem internet my Mac Book Pro will not connect.
I see that the Mac Book Pro is picking up the internet when I check the internet preference section but it will not open Safari.
What do I need to do connect via a cable modem?

You need to power off the modem for 15-30 seconds, then power back up and then connect. The modem is remembering the last connection (your friend).

  • I have an epson xp600 and a mac book pro. Wireless printing is OK if I'm lucky for one time only then a 'failed to connect' message so I have to delete and re add the printer to get it working again (but just once!) then the same occurs. Why?

I have an epson xp600 and a mac book pro. Wireless printing is OK if I'm lucky for one time only then a 'failed to connect' message so I have to delete and re add the printer to get it working again (but just once!) then the same occurs. Why?

I am not certain this will fix your problem but I suggest you assign the printer a static IP address.
Using the printer's front panel, select Menu > Network > WLAN > TCP/IP > Boot method, and change it to "static". Provide a static IP address that is on your LAN's subnet.
For example, if you are using an AirPort Extreme, you might give it an IP address of 10.0.1.100. If you are using a Netgear or Linksys router that defaults to issuing 192.168.x.x addresses, you might give it an address of 192.168.1.100. That way, the printer will always "reside at the same address" on your network. If your router has the ability, you should reserve that address so that the router does not attempt to assign it to another DHCP device.
Then, go to System Preferences > Print & Scan, and delete your existing printer with the "–" (minus) button. Add it again, using the "+" (plus) button. In the window that appears, select the IP pane, and from the Protocol menu select "Line Printer Daemon (LPD)". In the Address field type the IP address you gave your printer.
If all goes well the "Pring Using" field will detect the printer at that address and automatically select the appropriate driver. You will see something similar to the following screenshot ("name" can be whatever you decide, and "location" is optional):
Click Add, then you can close System Preferences.
There are other possible reasons your printer is "not responding" which could include wireless interference from competing wireless networks, but try this "static IP" method first. It should mitigate the problem.

  • My Mac book pro keeps saying "connection time out occurred" I have a 2011 pro with all the latest updates. It keeps doing it and it really annoys me! Please help!

My Mac book pro keeps saying "connection time out occurred" I have a 2011 pro with all the latest updates. It keeps doing it and it really annoys me! Please help!

Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried, until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
Restart the router. Many problems are solved that way.
    Step 2
Change the name of the wireless network, if applicable, to eliminate any characters other than letters and digits. You do that on your router via its web page, if it's not an Apple device, or via AirPort Utility, if it is an Apple device.
    Step 3
    From the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Network
Click the Assist me button and select Assistant. Follow the prompts.
    Step 4
    Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Enter the name of your wireless network in the search box. You should have one or more "AirPort network password" items with that name. Make a note of the name and password, then delete all the items. Quit Keychain Access. Turn Wi-Fi off and then back on. Reconnect to the network.
    Step 5
You may need to change other settings on the router. See the guidelines linked below:
Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    Potential sources of interference
    Step 6
Make a note of all your settings for Wi-Fi in the Network preference pane, then delete the connection from the connection list and recreate it with the same settings. You do this by clicking the plus-sign icon below the connection list, and selecting Wi-Fi as the interface in the sheet that opens. Select Join other network from the Network Name menu, then select your network. Enter the password when prompted and save it in the keychain.

    No.
Printopia (running on your Mac) connects the iPad to your printer.

  • Mac book pro will not connect to wifi.

problem; mac book pro wont connect to wifi, reset router & rebooted. no help...
other mac book pro is working fine, as is iphones & ipads. this is isolated to the 1 device.
every time i run diagnostics it says the network configuration has changed, then prompts me
to enter password then takes me back to the orginal screen.

Solution may be found if you search in the "More Like This" section over in the right column.
First contact your ISP.  You need to confirm that the issue is not on their end.
Change your router channel.  Sometimes this is all you will have to do.
Power cycling the router.  Read the router's user manual or contact their tech support for instructions.
    System Preferences/Internet & Network/Network
    Unlock the padlock
    Locations:  Automatic
    Highlight Airport
    Click the Assist Me button
In the popup window click the Diagnostic button.
System Preferences/Network- Unlock padlock.  Highlight Airport.  Network Name-select your name.  Click on the Advanced button.  Airport/Preferred Networks-delete all that is not your network.
Place a check mark next to "Remember networks this computer has joined."  Click the OK button and lock the padlock.  Restart your computer.

  • Mac Book Pro crashes wirelessly - Error Report Enclosed

I have a brand spankin' new Mac Book Pro. When I attempt to surf it wirelessly it crashes whether I'm surfing the web or even doing Software Update. It doesn't crash when I'm using the ethernet cable (at least I don't think I haven't tested it for hours upon hours that way.)
I am using Safari and I've seen some posts that Safari isn't working wirelessly. However, my computer crashes even when I'm doing Software Update and not just Safari.
I'm using a Belkin Wireless Router however I have a G5 tower with an Airport card installed and another Powerbook G4 with Airport card installed. They have no problems at all. It's only my MacBook Pro.
I can surf wirelessly for 5-10 minutes and then the screen fades to black and I get an error message that says you must Shut Down your computer or hit the Restart Button. (Where is the restart button by the way?)
When I shut down the computer and reboot I get a prompt that shows me this error message.

  • Mac Book Pro won't connect to internet via either Ethernet or wireless

A month ago my macbook pro suddenly stops working wirelessly with my virgin media router showing it has connected but no internet access. I have a second computer so i hadn't addressed the issue untill now. On a different virgin media router at my university flat I have exactly the same issue. I can connect to the Wi-Fi but it has no internet access and an IP of 169. so it is being rejected somehow. I have tried several things but they haven't worked. I stress that the ethernet doesnt work either which is unusually of most posts on this topic. If anyone could help me that would be much appreicated.

I had the exact same problem, here is what helped me, hopefully it will help you also...
I have been using my airport disk (edge_diskgo external HD) now for about 3 weeks, it has been rock solid... until tonight after the firmware update.
My macs could not locate the airport disk, but my pc's still could.
(Maybe this was how the security problem was solved? You can no longer access the Airport disk from macs? Brilliant!)
It turns out that all I had to do on my both my macs is go to
Airport disk utility (just type that in spotlight) and check
both boxes: Automatically discover Airport Disks
Show Airport disks in menu bar
Then I went to the top right hand side of the menu bar, and clicked on the airport disk utility icon, clicked on my basestation name and entered my basestation password.
I also had following settings in Airport Utility/Disks/File sharing:
    File sharing is enabled
secure shared disks (with base station password)
    Guest access (not allowed)
Share disks over ethernet wan port (checked)..
Advertise disks globally using bonjour (not checked)
My drives are back up with all of their contents, working now, we will see how they do tomorrow.
Thanks for all the help on this post, special Thanks to trevinwagner, hope this helps someone else.... its very late, Goodnight all

  • Hp Printer B110a not connecting to Mac Book Pro via wireless router.

Help anybody, I am not sure which is the connection problem my MBP or the HP printer. Anyway here goes, I have spent the last five days trying to set up my 'wireless HP photosmart All in one printer B110a'.
I have followed all the installation set up correctly but when it comes to the wireless IP settings configuration page, at set up wireless network, I unplug the USB cable from the MBP and printer as instructed by the installer and I keep getting a message saying:
    DEVICE NOT REACHABLE
The network configuration was successfully downloaded to the device. However to continue configuring the device in network, your Mac must have access to the device. So please make sure that your Mac has access to the Network : "eircom66830833" and retry.[/b]
I have checked over and over and my MBP is connected to this network otherwise I would not be able to access the internet and look at Mac Rumors at the moment.
Not sure if it helps but my Router is a Zyxel model number: P-660HW-T1 v3, I live in Ireland and my internet service provider is 'Eircom'. I have been in touch with my service provider for some help but it was useless.
Any information or advice would be appreciated I have been on the phone to technical advisers at HP which is a joke they are useless. I phoned them three days in a row for two hours each day six hours of useless help and buy the way never agree to a call back session as thy never call you back.
I phoned the apple care technicians on Friday and again no joy the tried everything even a fresh install of the Mac OSX. They said that if there was no further help from HP on Monday I should try and return it to apple but the technician was not sure if they would allow a return as it lapsed beyond the return date.
Sorry for the long rant but this is no joke
    Thanks
    Kind Regards
    Jenko

Sometimes DSL providers have more control over the router than the printer likes.
    - Unplug the telephone line from the router
    - Turn the power off on the router, wait 30 seconds, then turn the power back on.
    - Go through the normal process of connecting the printer to the router.
    - Now find the IP address of the printer (it should be on the self-test printout), type it into a browser.
    - On that screen you will find a Networking Tab, then on the left Wireless, then the IPv4 Tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you know what that is, set an IP outside that range but no higher than 254 (the last number in the address). If you do not know, use the current IP address.
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Leave the gateway and DNS blank
    - Finally, plug in the phone line, reboot the router and test.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Mac Book pro can't connect to Internet through Apple airport extreme base station

I had problems connecting to the internet in the past with my macbook pro.  One day it suddenly started working again but then I bought a second apple TV I lost connectivity.  I have tried changing the IP address manually and while it shows me connected to the wifi I am still with out internet.  When I hooked up the new Apple TV that I bought it booted my computer from it's ip address.  The apple TV though wouldn't work and now nor would my computer.  I ended up setting the Apple TV's ip address manually and now it works fine. My computer on the other hand does not no matter if I set it manually or not.  Even if I plug in the ethernet cable from the base station it doesn't work.  It show that it has a self assigned IP address.  After I set it manually it shows that I am connected both via wifi and the ethernet cable but I can't connect to the internet.  If I plug the modem directly into the computer bypassing the base station I get internet and it is using the IP address that worked originally.
It has something to do with the connection from the base station to my computer but this is odd considering every other device I have: iPhone 4, apple tv, apple tv, apple mini with retina display all work perfectly via wifi (newest apple tv had to be set manually as I stated above but now works fine).  When I check the ip of the base station itself it seems to be different from the ip of the computer when the computer was connected directly to the router.  I don't understand why my computer now can't connect to the internet via the base station whether it be wifi or by ethernet.  Can you please help me trouble shoot this?
I have an AirPort Extreme base station which allows up to 50 users and a 30 meg connection speed.
    I have a MacBook Pro (17-inch Early 2009), OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

It has something to do with the connection from the base station to my computer
    I don't think so..
I just posted a reply which totally vanished.. strange strange website now.
Please post some screenshots of your AE setup from the airport utility.. I want to see the summary page, then the network and internet tab.
Please tell us what modem you use.. is it a router??
If you have satellite or 3G wimax etc service they often are limited to 5 IP addresses... the AE takes one and then 4 more devices can join .. no more.
You need to also give us the screenshot of the IP you are getting in a computer that works.
    EDIT
Sorry this is half double post.. the previous page refused to display.. now it has returned..

  • Mac book pro retina wireless drivers

I have mbp retina early 2013 (i7, 2.4GHz, 256GB ssd). I wanted to use windows 7 on the same machine. so I installed it but the wireless card was not been recognized (i downloaded and installed bootcamp drivers but nothing). Do you have a solution?

So you say there is no Network option showing in the left pane?? That is strange....
Have you tried to click on the "Assist me" button at the bottom of the window? Try that and see if it will connect you. Or you may need to contact your ISP to make sure your connection is valid.
And, another thought: you have a Thunderbolt to ethernet adapter?
FWIW, I've asked the hosts to delete your email address; it is best not to post personal info in an open forum.

MacOS v10.5.8 is Leopard and v10.6.7 is Snow Leopard. You first must buy Snow Leopard v10.6 for $29 single use or $79 Family use upgrade price, and then run Software Update to get to the current update revision level which is 10.6.7.
