Mac book pro fails to start

Tried to start my MBP after 4hours of travelling and it didn t start properly.
It is the full aluminium body one from 2008, so it is 4 and half years old, and very well taken care of.
What happens when I press the Power Button ?
I see the little power light in front, but it look like it is not fully enlightened. I hear the sound of the disc hard drive check but the display stays black
and the typical "tadaaa" sound of the OS start is missing.
I did a hardware reset by pressing Power Button for 10 sec having unplugged power and batterie and started another try. No success...
Any ideas ?

Just came back from a MacShop. The guy at the service told me without looking at the MBP it was the Nvidia graphic board problem of this MBPproduction. I should call apple service, he couldnt do anything to help me, because the graphic board change was closed down and was only valid for 4 years.
So I called the Serviceline and a very gentle agent and supervisor told me they couldnt make an exception because the replacement part request would be rejected.
The sad part is that although I had minor problems with the display and grafic card prior. Though I went to the MacReseller they couldnt reproduce the mistake and therefore didnt do anything in time.

The hard drive on my Mac Book Pro failed last week.  I just put a new Samsung SSD in this thing and had to load the Snow Leopard OS that came with the computer.  I had Mt. Lion on the old drive that I had purchased last year but no boot disc made.  I have made several attempts to get the Mt lion soft ware on the computer but the Apple store does not have it only mavericks but my Snow Leopard version is too old for it so I cant get it either.  How do I get something to run the software that I had on the old drive?

Unfortunately I lost my life and am trying to rebuild.  Isn't the technical era great.
    Backup, backup, backup
As a minimum, use 3-2-1 (or even more)
3 copies of your data (original copy counts as 1)
2 different backup utilities/storage formats (protects from bugs in the software)
1 copy off-site (protects against theft, fire, and natural disaster)
More backup copies are even better.
Backup disks are cheap compared to the lost of personal data that does not exist anywhere else.

My Mac Book Pro will not start up.  I ran the AHT and received the following error:  4SNS/1/40000000:Th0H-90.750.  Anyone know what this means?

I have no idea how much it will cost to repair. I don't even know what the exact problem will prove to be. It may be quick if it isn't a motherboard problem. I just don't know. Take it in for a service diagnostic, then they can tell you what is involved.

What is the exact model of your Macbook Pro?

  • Mac Book Pro will not start on Battery Power

Mac Book Pro will not start on Battery Power although battery at 98% need to connect charger. When started date and time incorrect, comes up as 1st Jan 2012.

What is the exact model of your MBP?  The date change often is an indication of power loss to the MBP, such as disconnecting the battery.
If the SMC reset does not solve the situation, post this from your MBP:
Make certain that the power adapter is connected.

  • My Mac Book Pro wouldn't start after memory update

I updated my 27" Imac memory up to 16 GB, so I was encouraged to do the same with my Mac Book Pro after watching the video and instructions. However My Mac Book Pro wouldn't start afterwards. It is driving me crazy. Please if someone can help me on this. Thanks

I was trying to install Corsair 8GB (2x 4GB) 1333mhz PC3-10666 204-pin DDR3 SODIMM Laptop Memory Kit CMSO8GX3M2A1333C9; and now I realized that I made a mistake because this Mid 2010 Mac Book Pro uses 1066mhz PC3 8500 instead, so should that be the problem of compatibility? I should guess so, although in my HP Elite I have 800Mhz ddr2 where the bus works at 640 mhz ddr2.
The rest is the same being 204 pin memory cards, etc.
I made this mistake because ordered at the same time this memory along with memory cards for my new 27" iMac, which works at 1333Mhz.
Thankyou again, I will check on if cards are sitting well and if they are PC3 8500 1066 Mhz....

  • Mac book pro stuck at start up screen

Mac book pro was running slow so restarted it and now can't get past start up screen. Any tips?

Force Quit (under the Apple menu).
Can you get any MS Office app to open without freezing? If so, you should go under the Help menu of any Office app and select "Check for Updates" - the latest version is 14.3.9.
You might also want to try holding down the option key when you next try to open Outlook - this will force a rebuilding of your user database. You may have a problem there.
If all else fails, you can always trying uninstalling Office 2011 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2398768?wa=wsignin1.0) and reinstalling it...

  • HT4061 iTunes will not open when my iPhone 4S is attached to my Mac Book Pro. iTunes will start up but as soon as my iPhone appears in the list of devices the program then quits and displays the message 'iTune Quit Unexpectedly'? Can anybody help?

    The Problem/s
    1. I am unable to sync my iPhone 4S with my Mac Book Pro, either by cable, wifi or bluetooth
    2. iTunes will initiall open and briefly identifies the iPhone in the Device section in iTunes.
    3. When iTunes starts to read the iPhone (displaying the spinning wheel), it immediately then quits and
    4. Opens a 'dialogue box' which displays the message "iTunes Quit Unexpectedly"
5 The dialoge box offers the following button options to:-
    'Show Details'
The 'Show Details' button will open and display a list of the 'Problem Details and System Configeration'. To the average user the information is useless, as one doesn't know what to look for to solve the problem. This is a long and detailed report (too long to include in this message), which includes information such as:-
    Crashed Thread:  20
    Exception Type:  EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)
    Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x00000000000006f0
    'OK'
The 'Ok' button simply quits and closes the dialogue box
    'Reopen'
The 'Reopen' button will again reopen iTunes, briefly showing that it is trying to read the iPhone in the Devices section, but then returns again to display the same dialogue box.
    Other Information
    1. iTunes will still start normally once the USB cable is removed from the Mac book Pro, but crashes again once the USB cable is reattached to the computer
Any advice or help offered would be greatly appreciated.
    Sincerely
    Rob

  • My mac book pro does not start but has error message with a question mark on screen. took it in and was told probably the hard drive as could not reconize it so bought new one but still not connecting.what do i do

My mac book pro does not connect but shows an error message with a question mark on the screen.I took it to a retailer that said it was not reconizing the hard drive. He said i needed a new hard drive but it may be something else as well but he was sure a new hard drive would fix it.So putting faith in someone who deals with them i purchased a new hard drive to find it was still not working although he said the computer did know reconize the hard drive and i may have to send it away to get it checked .After already paying 120 pounds for a new hard drive and they wanting another 80.00 pounds to diagnose it i am a little sceptical.
That's why i am interested on anyone's help.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
I think that your Mac detects your hard disk, but the problem is that your new hard disk doesn't contain any operating system, so your Mac doesn't find any bootable partition and you see a question mark.
If your Mac came with DVDs, insert the Mac OS X Install DVD and hold the C key while your Mac is starting. Then, just install Mac OS X. If the hard disk isn't prepared to install Mac OS X, you will have to erase it using "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)". See > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU1.html

...how do i delete the user files,  on the target computer? i cant trash them?
You placed the users files  into the Trash can and then Finder > Empty Trash, this sends a message to the other drive that the files don't exist anymore.
If you can't Trash the files it doesn't matter really.
Unmount the drive by dragging it's icon to the Trash can turns into a Eject.
Now on the problem Mac you boot holding the Shift Key down, this enters Safe Mode and should hopefully get you into the machine to delete files. Reboot normally to exit safe mode.
If you can't do this, then it depends upon what operating system is on the machine, you either need the 10.6 boot disks or can hold Command R and boot into RecoveryHD and then erase the MacintoshHD partition and reinstall OS X, your programs and files from backup.
How to erase and install Snow Leopard 10.6
Erase, formatting, OS X installs on Mac's

  • MAC BOOK PRO WILL NOT START- COMPLETELY DEAD!

I forgot to power down my mac book pro last night. I closed the lid & forgot to go back & turn it off completely. This morning it will not power up. The machine is completely dead.
The power supply wasn't connected overnight so I assume the battery has completely drained. It's been charging for the last 2 hours (which would normally have fully charged it) but the light on the power cord is still showing green so I assume it's still charging, however there should be plenty of juice in the battery to start the computer but it still won't start.
Any ideas how to get it started?

A dead battery will take longer to start charging, but leave it on and eventually it will start to charge again.
Once you get it charged, perform a SMC and PRAM reset
