Mac book pro - general issues i'm having

I swear since i bought my macbook pro 9 months ago there has been nothing but trouble with it. The longer i have it the more that seems to go wrong. Now i have a few issues and were wondering if these were normal or not really.
The first issue i have is with the touch pad button. Over time it feels as if it has become slightly raised to one side since i tend to use the left side of it to click down on and my right hand to maneuver the track pad. Anyway basically the right side has now become raised up and makes a horrible clicking noise whenever its used and has to be pressed down with alot of pressure.
Another issue i've had is the heat of my laptop. I know they get hot on your legs which isn't the issue. I'm more worried if it's healthy for it to be so hot. Using a widget i have i can check the temp of certain parts, some parts get up to 70 degrees celcius or more =/. On a normal computer that would mean goodbye from what i know.
Atm just using safari and nothing else but coconut battery open here's the following temperatures (Degrees Celcius):
HD: 42
CPU A: 57
Airport Card: 55
Enclosure base: 36
GPU Diode: 65
GPU Heatsink: 56
Heat Sink A: 57
Heat sink B: 45
Now I'm a big multi tasker, and when i have photoshop, firefox, safari (I us them both for different tasks) and illustartor open as well as MSN and skype these can get in excess of 60 degrees C. When playing games it gets even worse, often 70+ degrees C. Now these temperatures are worrying to me. Should i be worried?
Now i also have the issue of my macbook pro being horribly sluggish. My hard drive has 60GB free. Now what possibly may be the problem is I have windows XP dual booted as well as I often use a virtual machine for MIRC (I have yet to find a decent alternate mac based client i'm happy with). Anyway what can i do to increase my performance, because i'm not very happy right now with how sluggish it gets.
Another problem is the damned chargers. I am currently on my third one. I'm worried that when my warrenty goes im going to have to keep replacing them =/. My first one basically overheated, sparked and died. Wouldnt work no more. Second one the cord had exposed wires at the base of the charger. Now has anyone else had issues with this?
Ok, and that's it for now.

What gets to 70ºC, smash_you2 ? There is nothing abnormal about CPU temps around 70ºC when the computer is working moderately hard. Core 2 Duo temps can get much higher than this. Many Dell users, for example were reporting temps closer to 100ºC for their C2D CPU's on their discussion boards recently. 70ºC is typical of working fairly hard, but far from extreme.
One thing I would be worried about from your comments, though, is the suggestion of deformation in the track pad/ button area. THis can sometimes result from a defective battery becoming deformed. THis, in turn can result in greater heat from the charging system and the battery itself. I'd be more stressed about this possibility than the temperatures that your widget is quoting. Check your battery condition using system profiler.
Running in "dual boot" mode will, of course, always diminish performance generally, as your computer won't have the same CPU and memory resources available for the primary OS that it would otherwise possess.
Cheers

  • Need major advice-Iphone,Ipad,Mac Book Pro syncing issues

I just purchased Mac Book Pro this weekend and I also have Iphone 4S and Ipad 1..all now with latest software update.  I used a hard drive to save my music and photos from my old PC and imported them into Itunes on new Mac....when I sync Iphone it will not transfer any photos or apps that I originally had on my old computer or any new apps that I have downloaded since the purchase of the new computer. Itunes begins to sync, goes through some of the processes then cancels the sync.  This is very disappointing being that I bought the Mac Book to have simple and seamless syncing between IPhone, Ipad 1 and Mac.
In addition, when I downloaded the new software to my Ipad 1, it did a hard reset and I lost every app on my Ipad.  Someone please help me get these devices working in harmony!!!!!!  I'm desperate and pulling my hair out......Thank you in advance!!!

  • BB Curve, Pocket Mac, Mac Book Pro sync issues, all of a sudden

Hi, new to the forum here, but not to Blackberry or Mac! I've been using this sync combo since it's inception back when I first got a 7100, then with my T-Mobile Curve when it came out, with little or no problems. I now, all of a sudden, have issues! I did look around at some other posts to see if I could find a solution, or someone with the same problem, but I think my prob is slightly different, so forgive me if I'm repeating some things here that others already have talked about!
After dropping my Curve over in Europe last month and cracking the screen (ugh), I got a replacement from the insurance company, which turned out to be a remanufactured phone (for the $130 deductible??? - another topic!).......  there were apps missing, and the phones'  keypad did not feel right, but IT DID sync ok... at any rate, I got them to send me a NEW phone, which I just received. It has the same exact software version as the other phones I had.
I did my usual USB sync with Pocket Mac, starting just with the contacts (mac address book) and notes (stickies). I selected 'overwrite device' in the advanced prefs of pocket mac (all latest versions installed, with latest drivers as well).  Worked fine, as usual.
I then added some addresses in my address book on the mac, and went to do another sync. It was at this point that the sync did not work, either in 'overwrite device' or 'two way sync'. The added addresses were not on my phone.
What I've tried, and noticed so far:
On the phone, during the 2nd sync, no matter which pref I choose, the ARROW on the connection status window on the phone is going the WRONG WAY, towards the computer icon, not the phone icon. Since I added info only on the computer, the arrow should be going toward the phone, especially when in 'overwrite device' pref. This was NOT the case on the original sync, when the phones' address book was empty; the arrow was going the right way, towards the phone. I did the 'wipe/reset' that Brodie suggested in another post, which is going to the address book on the phone->menu->options->scroll to 'default' and type in 'rset'... that wiped the address book from the phone.
I then did another sync, pref in 'overwrite device' and again it worked fine, with all my addresses, including the recent entries, transferred as they should be to my Curve...
I again made a few changes as a test, adding one address on the phone, and one in the address book on the mac, did a 'two way' sync, and again, nothing, both new entries were NOT copied.
The other thing I noticed, is the connections status window goes away after a bit of time on the phone (like it's finished), but the pocket mac software on the Mac is still spinning, acting like it's still syncing, with the status bar near the end, but it never finishes. I have to quit it manually. This did not happen on the 'clean' sync, everything finished like it was supposed to.
This obviously is a drag to not be able to sync without wiping the phones' address book, especially when data has been entered on the phone, and in fact, in that case, there is NO WAY to get it to the computer at this point!
I'm running MAC OS 10.4.11. Brand new sync cable that came in the box with the new phone.
As I said, all software and drivers having to do with pocket mac and blackberry are the latest versions just installed.
Maybe the desktop mngr for mac will solve all this, but, until then?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi and welcome to the forums!

On my macbook pro, was running on Yosemite and suddenly on starting the system I see "prohibited" sign. After trying a lot of combination of keys,  I added external SSD and booted but it came up with Lion version.

    Greetings skewat,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that your Mac is booting to a prohibitory sign. In this situation, to help resolve the issue, I would suggest reading over and working through the information in the attached article.

  • Mac Book Pro- Spacebar Issue

got my macbook about 3 weeks ago, and while I do love it, it has an annoying issue. This issue is not deal breaking in any way and actually almost never happens unless I intentionally try and make it happen. This issue is with the spacebar. When I push the spacebar on the very leftmost bottom corner, it wont aknowledge. Like I said, almost never happens, but when typing for an extended period of time, it may occur a few times which is annoying. Is this easily fixed?? I doubt they will replace it because of such a minor default, but I also dont want to have it shipped away for that same reason. Also, is anyone else having similar issues?

thanks guys, I appreciate your input. Apple told me it would be gone for 5 days, but 3 would be ideal as I do use it regularly for graphic assignments and what not. I suppose im a little aprehensive because I've shipped similar products out before from different manufacturer's for repairs, and upon their return, they had fresh new scratches on them :S

  • New mac book pro OS issue?

I bought macbook pro 13 inches non retina model. Before buying on apple.com it mentioned tht OS is mavericks and quite a few apps free with mavericks like ilife etc. but whn i started the laptop it has 10.8.3.. Can i install free apps that comes with mavericks once i upgrade?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Of course, but I recommend you to accept the apps before upgrading. Open the Mac App Store, go to Purchases and accept them. If it does not let you accept them, upgrade to OS X Mavericks first and then accept them.
Before upgrading to OS X Mavericks, I would recommend you to install OS X 10.8.5 first in  > Software Update, so you can be sure the upgrade will go well.
The reason why your Mac came with OS X Mountain Lion is that it was manufactured before the OS X Mavericks release

  • Mac Book Pro Startup Issue

Well I just sent my mbp into Apple to fix an overheating/noise problem, and good ole Apple send it back to me dead. When the battery is in, with no A/C power, it will not respond at all. With the A/C power plugged in, it will get to the grey apple screen then instantly power down. The battery is charged and I went through all the suggested steps including resetting the PMU. I dont know what else to try, any suggestions?

The ten first steps i walked through for this problem are listed here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303234
After I went through all those with no sucess, I tried the hardware test, but the immediate shutdown happens before I can boot from the C.D. So I cant get a hardware test result.
As for just sending it in again, ive already been out a computer for a week, and if I sent it in it will definatley be another week until I see it again. And now im not even sure if I am guarenteed a working computer when it is sent back, so im pretty hesitant.
Thanks again for any insight you can give me on this, the effort is very much appreciated!

  • Older Mac Book Pro is slow and bogging down

My older Mac Book Pro is getting slow and having issues like a PC (programs freeze and closes, slow to respond, slow to open programs, wifi signal dropps out, etc)
Is there a way to restore the performance, maybe by doing a wipe and a time machine restore?
The hard drive is only 2/3 full and I don'e run a lot of high demand programs.

I seem to have read somewhere that the Mac does auto-defragging during late night admin sessions (on certain dates only) if your computer is left switched on overnight. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable would have a little more about this....
Ah, there you go. It's in the MacLife article mentioned by shoulder2thewheel: 3.15am nightly admin sessions. Just need to leave your Mac on.
Not good if you have loads of bad sectors though, as you may find that system files will be written over the bad sectors... and hey presto, you have a fatal disk crash, just like on my computer two nights ago.

  • Have just purchased a new mac book pro, am now having issues syncing my apps to my new mac?

Have just purchased a new mac book pro, am now having issues syncing my apps to my new mac?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You already have got OS X Mavericks installed (the Keynote, Pages and Numbers versions available in the Mac App Store are only compatible with OS X Mavericks).
You have got a Late 2013 MacBook Pro, which uses a special OS X Mavericks version that is not available in the Mac App Store. This is the reason why the Mac App Store is not compatible with OS X Mavericks even if you are using it. This will be fixed in OS X 10.9.1, when your Mac uses the same Mavericks version as all other Macs.
Until then, you can reinstall OS X through OS X Recovery > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718

HI Guys, My Mac book pro ...touch pad is acting funny...going all over the screen, I have  bare minimum control over it. and to make matters worse, the Battery of my mac book pro is not charging, the charger is showing green light (not Orange) -  the battery  icon on teh screen is showing 'Not Charging'.

  • Mac Book Pro 13 inch Graphics Issue with Yosemite

    I have a major graphics issue with my Mac Book Pro mid 2010 after upgrading to Yosemite. I have a 2.66ghz with 8gb memory and 320M 256 MB NVIDIA graphics card. Since upgrading to Yosemite (after a clean install) I have had the following issue that are driving me crazy;
When I use more than one program my screen displays large blocks of unrecognisable fuzziness. I have two screen working off my Mac Book Pro, one is the Apple 27 inch theatre screen.
My system works slow despite have ample free memory available on my disk (over 150gb)
    It is becoming an increasing concern as this issue builds up over the day to the point where I need to reboot to fix, however as soon as I use Photoshop the system almost grinds to a halt. Other issues that are bearable but ned addressing include;
Keyboard often does not work on startup and requires you to pull out the keyboard and reconnect (intermittent).
Lost email when sent (intermittent). I had hoped that this would be fixed in this updated release.
    Laggy behaviour in general.
I am hoping someone has an idea to fix these issues or are also sharing my frustration. Can someone suggest  fix as this is not a workable situation for Mac book Pro users and 2010 is not that of an old computer. Apple???

So you erased your drive and installed  10.10 and then 10.10.1 and everything else was t hrough Setup Assistant, through reinstalls, or through TimeMachine restore?
A four-year old laptop may be at the point where that small older gpu and processors have more trouble.
you might want to hold off and go back to Mavericks or whatever you had - hopefully you cloned that system before doing clean install, upgrade to 16GB, maybe throw in an SSD... or save and get the next MacBook Pro to come out.
And you checked your apps at http://www.roaringapps.com for compatibility.
Might help just to see what if anything shows up in output from Etrecheck.
Probably thought this was laptop MacBook Pro, it is not, probably best moved to Yosemite forum.

Give your previous partition layout, you cannot install Windows via Bootcamp, unless you are willing to give up all your extra partitions and go back to EFI, OS X and RecoveryHD only configuration.
i have now a question , what happens if i boot with win 8.1 boot able DVD and install a new windows ?
    the main questions are :
    1. does it recognize any of my partition to select for windows installation ?
    2. if no , can i format any partition for new partition during windows installation?
    3. if i could install a windows , who is the boot loader ? windows or mac ? can i still boot to windows or what ?
    1. Windows installer will not work and you will end up with driver issues.
    2. No.
    3. You cannot, but if you could, the Apple Bootmanager would be your Boot Manager/Loader.
