  • My mac book pro gets stuck when connected to internet

    hello.
I recently changed  ISP and router...
I noticed that when I connect to the wifi of my house my mac book pro gets stuck. the color spinning wheel (of death)  starts and  shows forever and I can't click anything after that. I can turn off the mac only by forcing quitting (holding down the power button).
i checked the hard disc at disc utility and everything is ok
when i restart and turn the air port off it doesn't get stuck...
    Please help!

I recently changed  ISP and router...
Do you have an apple router at all??
    If so which one?
when i restart and turn the air port off it doesn't get stuck...
So you are plugged into the main router by ethernet??
    Are you actually running Lion??
If not what are you running? And if it is that all round Stinker Yosemite.. no surprises there.
As far as the computer is concerned clear out all the old wireless names.. shut down the computer.. restart the computer and rediscover the wireless again and put in the password. Does that help??
Old laptop and upgrade install bad news all round.

Open the Mac App Store and try downloading Mavericks. If you're told the computer's incompatible, no.

  • HT1338 mac book pro gets unusually hot

Mac book pro gets unusually hot. Its only a year old . Anybody out there have s suggestion ?

I have just been to the Genius Bar with this question, among others. They recommended that I download "SMCFancontrol", also recommended above by EyeHeartDesign. It's available free at http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/31029. Like iStatPro it monitors temperatures, but it also allows you to set a faster default fan speed and a target max temperature.
At the Genius Bar I was also advised to clean out the vents with compressed air and to make sure that I am not blocking the vents while I use the computer.
We'll see if this all works, as it has been running hotter than usual lately. I was afraid that components were getting fried, but was assured that the other issue this computer has (keyboard and trackpad stop working) is unrelated. Looks good so far - with fans at the new default of 4000 rpm, temp is 40º C.

  • Why does my Mac Book Pro get so hot?

My Mac Book Pro gets hot whenever i use it for awhile and i am wondering what could be causing the "over heating"
I just bought my Mac about a month ago, it is the 13 inch with the intel core i7 processor.

Hot is a relative term.  Go on the Internet and download iStat pro, a widget that monitors the internal temperatures and fan speeds of your MBP.  When you get accurate numerical data then you will be able to determine if there actually is a problem.
Yes the MBPs do get warm which is good because that is dissipating the internal heat being generated by the internal components.  The heat to a large degree is a function of the applications you are using, such as video games will require more CPU resources than emails, thus generating additional heat.
Bear in mind that the MBP has internal heat sensors that will shut the unit down if it starts to over heat thus preventing the MBP committing Hari Kari.
    Ciao.

  • Mac book pro is stuck on installing snow leopard. won't work.

i recently was mucking around with my mac book pro and soon found my self stcuk with the installation of the 'snow leopard mac OS X' no matter what i did it just wouldn't go away, all i wanted was for my laptop to just go back to normal and get back to what i had been doing only a few hours ago but nope nothing, not even the snow leopard would download to finish things off. so i contacted apple support whom we spent about an hour chatting with. that was basically hopeless, they were very nice but they just didn't know what they were doing, and best of all they wanted to charge me. so at the very ending when they told me that my hard drive was fried and there was absolutely nothing i could do but to get it taken to an apple store and pay for them to replace my hard drive i asked them if i should do the online repair thing, and he told me no i shouldn't its just a waste of time and it won't work.  so i neglected him told him a thank you and guess what, i got it to work. now my laptop is good as new and i didn't need to pay to get the hard drive replaced. lol. ok so for the people who are facing this oh my gosh its such a headache but we can do thins. so write these steps down and i promise they will work and you don't need to pay to get your perfectly fine hard drive replaced. ok so shut down your laptop completely. then when its completely off. hold don't the command button and R hold them both down and then at the same time press the on button keep holding them, you can take your finger off the on button but keep the others on the command and R until a white screen appears it will ask for wifi and then it will reset everything for you like when you first got your laptop. just follow through the instructions they give you and all is well. i hope this was help full for you if this happens.! (btw i can't remember if it was command and R or the option, alt button and R but just try the command one first and if that doesn't work then the other one)

  • Mac book pro getting hot

ive just purchased a new mac book pro and it is getting really really hot directyl under the key board, all the way to the edge of the case where the screen is, its nearly too hot to touch, should it be getting this hot?

What you will need to do is actually quantify exactly what you mean by hot. It's possible that it's too hot although it may well be normal. Temperature Monitor…

  • Mac Book Pro gets smashed by a foul ball during baseball game in Pittsburgh

What are the chances that this Mac Book Pro (it looks like a MBP but could be the first model?) survived and can be repaired.

"Can be repaired" = probably, with a new case, logic board, probably optical drive, possibly HD (basically just using the old display). Reasonably/cost effective? Methinks slim, very slim, and none. That had to hurt.

  • Mac book pro getting slow. Help me.

I have a macbook pro 13" 2011 model. And what I noticed now is that my mac is getting slow even though I didn't use any apps at all. My free memory is still 60 gig something so I don't think this could be the reason why it's getting slow. Any help? I already deleted other big apps and programs. Even though I don't use any program, the mac is getting slow now... what should I do? do i need those mac keeper thing? thanks for the help!

    How's it going Crampy?
By the % on the CPU Processes.
Whatever is using the most CPU Processes is the one giving the most issue.
If you're using Firefox, Safari or Google, see if it's loading flash on activity monitor.
You will see under %CPU how much of the CPU is actually being used by that application.
The higher the percentage, the slower you get and the hotter your MB Pro gets.

  • My Mac book pro gets to the screen with the apple logo with a spinning loading symbol and an actual loading bar underneath it and when the loading bar gets to about 1/2 - 3/4 the computer shuts down how do I fix this?

    Need it fixed asap

Unfortunately for that it's usually not a quick fix, unless it's a stuck firmware update.
Hold the power button down to force a hardware shutdown and boot again, if it appears again then it's a bigger problem.
The bigger problem is that the fsck drive repair at boot can't fix the problem with the drive.
You will need to consider your off machine backup situtation if you have one or not and how recently backed up are those files.
If you have no backups or desperatly need to get files off and willing to possibly spend some money to do so (a powered external drive + even $100 recovery software), then it depends upon your computer skill level. If not very good then your seeking the services of a local PC/Mac tech, Apple doesn't do data recovery.
Once you have a copy of your files off the machine, then your looking at a erase and reinstall of OS X, programs and files from backup.
If you have a recently updated TimeMachine you can restore from that.
If you have a bootable clone, then it's easy. Just hold option/alt key and boot from it, grab your files, erase the drive and reverse clone your problems away.
Gray, Blue or White screen at boot, w/spinner/progress bar

  • HT1529 why is mac mac book pro getting so hot?

why is my mac getting so hot?

The temperature usually is directly related to the load being placed on the system...what software are you running, multiple software?  Things like heavy duty games place a load by fully taxing he cpu and loading up the gpu to produce the display imaging.  Software that does very heavy graphics, things like ray tracing and rendering, put a full load on the cpu.
The cpu can run very hot, on the order of 100-110 deg, before thermal overload protection kicks in and runs bak the clock speed.  The system will start running up the fan speed to remove the excess heat.
So, how hot is the MBPr?  Warm to touch, hot to touch, uncomfortably hot to touch?
