Mac Book Pro/iMac help with iPhoto
Hello,
I have a Mac Book Pro and an iMac.
We have stored over 1500 photos on my MacBook Pro.
We also have an iMac with Lightroom 2 on it.
I'm trying to transfer all of the photos from the MacBook Pro onto an external hard drive.
I would then take the external hard drive and transfer the photos to the iMac with the Lightroom 2.
Anyone know how to do this?
I need step by step instructions...........help!
There is no simple way to go from iPhoto to Lightroom. Lightroom cannot make any sense of the iPhoto Library (and vice versa). In essence, you're starting over from scratch.
So, export the pics from iPhoto (File ->Export) and put them on the external.
Plug it into the other machine and import them into Lightroom.

I just recently update the new software now i can't get access to iPhoto, and other apps because its asking me for my password but his apple id coming up is there any way i re install these apps under my apple id. You cannot use or upgrade anything that is registered with his Apple ID. You must re-purchase it all using your Apple ID and your iTunes account. This includes the operating system as well. Essentially, you erase the drive and start from scratch. Here's how to get started:
Install OS X Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
This should restore the version of OS X originally pre-installed on the computer. You can decide which apps you want to purchase (or download free) from the App Store where you will set up your own account and your own Apple ID if you don't have one. -
I'm new to mac book pro need help with the dock
'm new to mac book pro and I accidentally delete from the dock the Utilities and Documents Icon. How do I put it back?
I already tried moving fromEric's right, but an additional tip;
Make sure the folders and other non-app shortcuts you'd like on the dock go on the right hand side of the little median (looks like a road median), and place them directly between two other items. They will only shortcut onto the dock if you see the Dock make space for it. -
Im not able to use facetime at all. Do some countries have restrictions. Can anyone help me out ? I use a Mac Book pro retina display with OSx Mountain lion.

All my Photos disappeared after I saved a photo to Iphoto from an email from my wife. I am running Mountain lion on Mac book pro 2012, help. What did I do wrong?
Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

If this does not help, you have to buy an external HD and move your movies photos.etc to

I have downloades Logic Pro 9 onto my older modfel Mac Book Pro 1,1 with OS 10.6.8 and 2 GB RAM, according to the rquirements for Logic 9. the program should run on OS 10.6.8. with 2 GB RAM, 4 GB better, but it won't open. Is my configutation too slow?
Looks as if you're just at the minimum specs - http://www.apple.com/logicpro/specs/. Says 2GB minimum, 4GB recommended. And 2GB of RAM is all the RAM the 1,1 can handle. If I were you I would call Apple's App Store service center - you have the minimum requirements, as I read it, but perhaps you need a faster processor?
I had a 1,1 but sold it when I bought my late 2011 in March of this year - maybe it's time to look at a new machine?

OS X 10.4 on a 2008 mac book pro that came with 10.5.5
Beginning to think about moving from my eMac.
Now that Marathon has moved along,
the only thing I want to bring along is Photoshop 7.0
which runs on OS X 10.4.11 at the latest.
Currently, I have a firewire hard disk with a 10.4.11 and 10.5.8 volume.
I boot into 10.4.11 when I want to use Photoshop.
I might inherit a 2008 mac book pro that came with 10.5.5 installed.
Any way to get it to boot into a 10.4.11 volume?

This is not necessarily 100% correct at the current time.
As Dropbox is encouraging people to set it up for automatic uploading of photos they gradually increment your space as you load more pictures for free at the current time.
You do start with a fixed 2 GB but if you upload photos you will be awarded more free space.
You can also open a free account with Flickr - you may have some upload limits per day but you can upload pictures there. -

can you operate the mac book pro 15 inch with out the battery? I read somewhere in a post that it lowers the power to about 1 gig with out the battery. I asked apple and they said it is not true because you can use the comp with the power adapter and battery together or either by itself and it will not effect the 2.16 gig. Thank you.
If you remove the battery the CPU power will be cut by 50% (whatever they told you) so that there's no lack of power or overheating issues. It's best to always keep the battery in.

So I have a Mac Book Pro with a bootcamp Windows 8. I dual monitor on the Mac side with my Mid 2011 iMac through my mini display port via thunder bolt cable. In my perfect world, I would be able to switch to the Windows side and have the iMac mirror or extend my windows display for my gaming pleasure, etc. I'm not sure if it's just a simple driver or that it cannot be done. Mac Book Pro 2011 (Installed with X Yosemite) Problem. Help!
I tried to start up my Mac Book Pro and it took me to the screen where you choose the user. I click on my account and put in my password. A grey loading bar appears below. It gets about a third of the way there and then the whole computer shuts down. Just shuts off like I pushed the power button. So I tried to Safe Boot but my computer doesn't seem to recognize it as a Safe Boot for when I hold shift upon it restarting, it just takes me back to the "choose your user" interface. So then I tried the Utilities screen which I was able to open. I tried to repair my "MacintoshHD" Disk (The top one in the left column) and it said that it was unable to fully verify the disk. I kept trying and this fixed the problem (I think?) since it stopped saying it couldn't verify it anymore. I went back to the "choose your user" screen and still no dice. What should I do? Is there any way to save my files on that account? Any help is appreciated.

My Mac book pro is locked and do not know the password?? I never set a password up on my notebook so I'm not understanding how it just locked out of no wear?? Please help I need to access my files and can not get in.. Should I bring it to an Apple store??

Reset Password using Recovery HD
Boot into Recovery Partition.
Start the computer,then press and hold down command and R keys to start into recovery partition.
When you see the Apple logo, release the keys.
Wait until OS X Utilities window shows up.
Move the mouse to the menubar at the top and click "Utilities", then select "Terminal"
from the drop down.
Terminal window will appear.
Type in resetpassword and press enter on the keyboard.
Leave the Terminal window open.
Reset Password Utility window will open with Macintosh HD selected.
Select the user account from the popup menu box.
Enter a new password.
Reenter the new password for the user.
Enter a hint.
Click the "Save" button.
Click in the menubar and select Restart.
Log in.
If Keychain dialog box appears, select “Create New Keychain”.
If this does not help, you have to take the computer to the Apple store. -
I recently bought I new iPod Touch 32gb, and It won't regognize on my computer (Mac Book Pro) I had the same problem with my previous touch but I shrugged it off as old age. any suggestions on what to do?
Well since it has not been charging on multiple computers i would take a look at replacing the usb cable. Something could not be connecting right or just needs to be replaced. If this has already been done it is starting to sound like a battery issue with the ipod.
