Mac Book Pro is frozen

My mack Book Pro is frozen on the desktop. I do not know how to turn it off, and reboot.
Has anyone else had this problem.

See if you can boot in Safe Mode then delete the two apps set to launch when you startup from System Preferences / Accounts - Login Items.
Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode
A Safe Mode boot takes a few minutes so be patient.

• I downloaded lion now my mac book pro has frozen can't get into my mac book, why?

why can't I get into my mac book pro now thatI have installed Lion, just have a screen with my name in the middle with a nice picture of an eagle. I have had no trouble with my desktop, it loaded fine, don<><.

Hi Donald.
Okay, your problem is most probably due to automatic graphics switching. Since you can't login, the only way I see is by starting Lion in safe mode. You will be able to login. Then disable Automatic Graphics Switching in the Energy / Power settings of System Preferences. The exact name of the setting may differ depending on your MacBook and hardware.

• My mac book pro has frozen with os disk in it will only turn on with the apple logo on screen what do i do to eject so disk

i have my mac book frozen when i put os disc in and pressed restart it went to restart apple logo cam on screen and now it has stayed like that for 24 hours i have not been able to eject disc or response fromkeypad please help

Five ways to eject a stuck CD or DVD from the optical drive
Ejecting the stuck disc can usually be done in one of the following ways:
1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the left mouse button until the disc ejects.
2. Press the Eject button on your keyboard.
3. Click on the Eject button in the menubar.
4. Press COMMAND-E.
5. If none of the above work try this: Open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder. At the prompt enter or paste the following:
/usr/bin/drutil eject
If this fails then try this:
Boot the computer into Single-user Mode. At the prompt enter the same command as used above. To restart the computer enter "reboot" at the prompt without quotes.

Press the Power button and hold it down until the computer turns off. Restart. Do you still get the same result? If so, then try booting into Safe Mode, then restart normally. A safe mode startup takes considerably longer than a normal one, so don't panic. You will also see a progress bar at the beginning.

• Gmail in mac book pro frozen on podcast rss download, Gmail in mac book pro frozen on podcast rss download affecting entire computer

Okay, so I am NOT the most tech-savvy girl so please excuse me if I'm sounding really stupid... I have a mac book pro (2 years old). I like to download podcasts on my iphone and I guess they then sync via iTunes cos they appear on my mac book pro as well. BUT recently one pattern making podcast (I'm a student fashion designer), has shown up in my gmail menu under RSS feeds, I'm not sure how long it's been there but I clicked on it a few days ago and since then my gmail is totally stuffed! When I say stuffed I mean: the whole of my gmail on MBP is frozen with the spinning beach ball of death on the open patternmaking podcast/RSS feed window I tried to open- although there is no images or anything it's just frozen before it downloaded anything. I can force quit and then use the rest of my MBP fairly ok, although it does seem slower- and I didn't have time to deal with it as I've had to write a 5000 word essay to be handed in tomorrow so I just completed that & now I can deal with it since that's all done. But if I open mail back up its still frozen on that RSS podcast thing I opened and while it's opened my ENTIRE computer is affected- it just lags (HUGELY) as in safari won't load properly, when I try to open file/edit/tools or anything on the top bar menu it takes like 10 minutes to pop down n then 5 minutes to acknowledge my command. I've just turned my MBP off right now to write this on my iphone I turned it off by pressing the power button for 10 seconds.
I desperately need this mac for uni as I study online and the $11000 programs I bought only work on mac.(as in the software that enables you to do the course is sent to you based on your type of computer) I'm terrified. Can someone please help me? In laymans terms lol I don't care if I lose ALL my emails as I have them on my iPad & iPhones so no biggy ill do whatever I have to just to fix this issue.
Thank you so much in advance;)
Olivia Preston :)

Hi Olivia,
Go to Safari menu > Preferences > RSS and uncheck all the boxes, Check for updates: Never, Mark articles as read: After clicking them, Remove articles: after one day, and Remove now. See if that does the trick.

• HT1752 My ices are frozen on on my Mac Book Pro vintage 1998 but bought in 2002. How do I release the icons s I can move them around ny screen /

My icons are frozen on on my Mac Book Pro vintage 1998 but bought in 2002.

Reworded for Macbook, iTunes, and iPad feature enhancement/software and hardware compatibility feedback and submitted this to Apple at http://www.apple.com/feedback I did not see iBooks listed as an Apple iOS app for direct feedback.
In addition to backing up and syncing through iTunes, please provide the ability to seamlessly open and read iBooks (a.k.a. Apple iBook Textbooks and interactive ebooks and other epub/pdf content saved in iBooks) and content purchased through the iBookstore on MacOS computers, not just iOS devices. While the new MacbookPro with retina display and other systems are essential for various computing tasks, referencing and reading books without shifting to another device is a major purchasing and productivity factor. I can currently do this with Amazon, Google, VitalSource, and Nook books. The ability to seamlessly move between reading books on an iOS device, MacOS computer, or within a Web browser and have integrated highlighting, notes, social sharing and other features sync between all three is highly desirable. Without this option, I will generally need to purchase books and other content from these sources or directly from the publishers, but not Apple.
Thank You.

• Frozen Mac Book Pro

I just got a new 15' 2.6GHz quad-core intel core i7 Macbook Pro, I tried using Migraition Assistant to transfer applications from my older Mac book Pro. It started at 3 hours and got to 1 hr 45 min then just stopped. I cant control option esc, control command esc. option command esc, nothing is working. Please help.

Just hard reboot your machine and start the Migration process over again. How do you have the two computers connected? Best to either use FireWire or have them both connected to the same router with an Ethernet cable.
Call back if you have further problems - the migration may have completed, might not have.
